It's just a binary number. When you root your phone
1. Your device status will be CUSTOM
2. Your Knox code is tripped
Bad news is there's no turning back here. You will void your warranty and all Knox security feature. Currently, it's impossible to reset those flags
Good news is no one care about those craps, welcome to Knox Tripped Club and enjoy your freedom
Thanks!
But i wanna know if i can turn back to OFFICIAL and if (4) erase or always stay with Knox 0x1 (this don't care but these (4) i never saw :S)
EDIT: (4) can be number flashed device?

As I said.
It will always stick with CUSTOM, you can't turn back to OFFICIAL
KNOX warranty will always show 0x1 (4), no matter how many times you flash

Knox always show 0x1 (4) ??? Only on S5 or 4.4? Because with note 3 or S4 only show knox 0x1 without other number... I'm lost xd
Thanks for your help!

Don't worry about that bro, it's already there since the very first time your phone rooted. One way or another, that number (4) will not increase or decrease

Yes if you install an official rom the status'll be changed to official and now you can use Private Mode without any problem, and use the OTA updates.
Regarding the 0x1(4), yes it will always show that number no matter what you do.
I've 3 S5 rooted and all of them show different numbers after the 0x1...

I have a S5 Duos, I root too, and stayed that way!
For the status of the Roma back as original, use the Triangle Away app (by your own risk).
Have Knox counter, will be even as it is, does not like change.
My Knox shows 0x1 (0) with Samsung Oficial Status

Hello again,
I'm not sure if I can replace my Note 3 under warranty FOC with the status screen at recovery showing the following messages :
Current Binary : Samsung Official
System Status : Custom
Knox Kernel Lock : 0x0
Knox Warranty Void : 0x0
I'm just worried about the System Status : Custom message. Is that a problem?
I unrooted using the method explained in this thread and this link directly takes to my post in that thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46511887#post46511887
Do I have to do anything else for replacement under warranty?
Thank you for any information.
Remove SD card and reboot. Then check status again.
Or you can just Flash stock room through Odin and it will all be official again.

Thank you. I flashed the official latest rom and everything is official again.
But why do I read so many times that flashing custom roms will void warranty, if this can be reverted by flashing official roms?
Is it that the knox will be tripped to 0x1? I flashed using the method I mentioned above but my knox stayed at 0x0...

Most custom roms require a custom recovery to be installed, this will trip Knox. Also most custom roms have altered kernels, this too will trip Knox.
You have simply gained root without replacing the recovery or the kernel.

There's a bit of murky waters regarding the warranty if knox is tripped. But recently Samsung have said knox tripping does not affect warranty. But to be on the safe side some people decide to not trip knox. There are ways to root and flash custom roms without trooping knox but not if you are on one of the latter bootloaders.
Once knox is tripped there is no going back as it stands. ..... But if you like to customize your phone and make it look and feel much nicer .... Who gives a foookk .....I for one don't?
Also knox can be tripped flashing stock firmware using odin.... If you are unlucky. ..

Thank you all for the Knox explanations. That cleared up some doubts of mine.

If your phone is on MK2 firmware then you already tripped the knox counter. Boot into download mode to check.

I don't know why it would say 0x30? If you tripped the knox counter then it was say 0x1 an your warranty will automatically be void. What's going on with your phone? If you were an early adapter of the S4 and didn't update it, you don't have knox.
It's running 4.2.2. It does say 0x30. Whats Knox?

Your probably good. If you don't know what knox is just google samsung knox.
As I know it is impossible to revert a tripped knox on an i9500 ...
But Today I switched to Note Edge, and I will hand over S4 i9500 to one of my family members so I just flashed I9500UBUGNJ1_I9500UUBGNJ1_I9500UBUGNJ1_HOME.tar.md 5 via odin..
And what i see now on the download mode is Knox Warranty Void : 0
I have rooted and installed unlimited number of custom roms. Is it really what I am thinking? My knox counter really reset itself?
If yes, how is it possible?
Are you sure that it says knox 0x0? otherwise i'll call an exorcist because it's impossible.
Rare.
If this attachment tells it is knox 0x0...
After the firmware flash which I have mentioned in the first post, my phone is back in warranty again...
weird.. exorcism...
is it reality or just time pass?
this is real.
I couldn't beleive that's why I have posted it...
I bought the phone when it was famous.. there were like tens of roms weekly.. I have started with Wanam and a lot of others.. perseus kernel etc.. basically there is no way that the knox was not tripped...
before last flash, I had one of omega roms with omega kernel (SELinux = permissive).. then I have flashed the rom in the first thread without any special action.
and magically it is knox = 0 again

The rom you flashed it's kitkat. Maybe it has updated the bootloader and... voila. Who knows?!
After flashing official lollipop via ODIN from sammobile knox warranty changed from 0x1 -> 0
And rooting again changed knox from 0 -> 1
Reflashing again via odin knox remained 1 only.
Wierd...
May someone of you try downgrading and then upgrading and see if it untripps?
Excuse me for my horrible English.
I read 2 weeks ago, that is possible to reset the knox counter on the s4 exynox processor model because the KNOX Flag is on the emmc (Flash card) Maybe this on its possible to reset it.
By flash a new rom most files get erased and new one get rewriting.
On the Snapdragon S4 the Knox Flag is standing in a area of the processor.

There is a .TAR file reportedly on XDA in the Note 3 forums that when flashed through Odin resets the bit for the Note 3. However, whether that actually is the case is a matter of speculation. I saw a video showing it in action, but take the video with a grain of salt.

Are you talking about the Exynos Note 3?, this S4 version that this man was talking has a Exynos processor too. It seems that it is writiable.

Can't see anywhere that you had 0x1 before. You only show what state is after flash NJ1.
Custom ROM, kernel or recovery don't update/downgrade bootloader where Knox is based and should not trip anything but possible flash counter.

Yeah, I was talking about the Exynos version. There's people who dispute whether it works or not, despite a YouTube video showing it in action.

Certainly a 0 or a 1 on Lollipop now, so it changed over at some point.
Hi guys I would like to ask what is the cause of this knox trip? I tried to root my SM-G900F using towelroot but it says that my phone isn't supported so I guess this won't be the reason why my knox becomes 0x1 (3). I didn't do anything on my Samsung S5 aside from downgrading to kitkat 4.4.2 ANI2 from Lolipop BOH4. Any idea or suggestions guys? If there would be no chance to turn it back to 0x0 then can you suggest to me a good and stable ROM for my Samsung S5 and rooting as well? Thanks and have a nice day.
For unknown reasons, Knox sometimes tripps 0x1 during update via Kies.
I've rooted my S5 via towelroot but on rom ANE2 - the problem can be you didn't install SuperSu and block Knox.
You can try SixPerience - this is one of my favourite rom.
Very good is OmegaROM, too, but don't try KtoonseZ Kernel - it damaged my GPS receiver :/

Hello guys i really need your help.
Im using BOD3 Firmware version, there are a lot of new versions,i was rooted knox 0x1 (2),and then i unrooted through SuperSu.How should i update my phone, via Kies,SmartSwitch,or Odin?I wouldnt prefer odin cause it flashes stock rom and my flashcounter will be knox0x1(3) Right? Is it safe now to update via Kies?
Your KNOX is already tripped, forget about it now and use ODIN, ODIN with Stock ROM will NOT change anything KNOX related, only custom
0x0 = Not tripped
0x1 - Tripped
The counter means nothing for warranty
