Hi guys. I can get my hands on a US Cellular Note 3 for pretty cheap. I'm curious if I would be able to use it in the EU. I'm moving there and want to use a Note 3. Can I somehow unlock it? I was told it was locked to US Cellular. Thanks!
EDIT: Sorry guys I meant to post this at the Q & A. Wasn't aware I was still in this forum...

Model Number: SM-N900R4
Android Version 4.3
Hardware Version: N900R4.05
IMEI: 9900.......
I want to unlock this device as i've purchased it and paid it outright. i'm not obligated under any service contracts with US Cellular but nobody anywhere around here has any clue how to unlock. I want to unlock it to use on my Verizon Wireless Account with my current SIM Card. I cant seem to get anywhere with anyone on how to do this with US Cellular. US Cellular has indicated that regardless of what I do - it'll never work on Verizon Wireless.....seems like B.S. to me as they are both CDMA... THOUGHTS?......
My apologies, i'm new to this.
Thanks, Tony.
First things first pal, remove that IMEI quick time, never ever share it!

I'm facing the same problem, people don't really like to hassle with hardware that they know little about, for now atleast.
Some sites reefer to the n900r4 from us cellular to be the same model as the note 3 sprint is selling, and some sites also say it still has a gsm 2G antenna built in, though disabled by software ? Could use some help, and get some friends on the issue of sorting out the specific data about the device.

I think the LTE bands are different but I don't know about 3G or plain GSM, you will need to research that yourself.
For unlocking the phone the safest way would be an unlock code, if US Cellular does not want to provide one (you can tell them that you travel abroad and you want to use a foreign SIM for a month) or if they ask too much then search around and see which unlocking service supports US Cellular.
Hi guys,
I have a seemingly simple question... I am in South Africa, a friend in the states sent me a US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970)
I have read all over the place to see if this phone can be SIM unlocked to work outside of the USA but I'm not getting any definitive answers.
Some say all S4's have GSM capabilities so there has to be a way to unlock it, others say it is only CDMA making it impossible to work on GSM...
So can someone please give me a straight answer?
Is it possible to SIM unlock a US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970) to work OUTSIDE the USA ???
Thanks so much, appricate the time and help!
Hi all,
This is my first post so bere with me if am missing any knowledge on how to post properly on the forum. I bought a note 4 on AT&T from eBay I was stupid and didn't read the advert properly my fault. Am wondering would I be able to flash my note 4 to UK unlocked rom at all? So basically it would work exactly the same as a note 4 bought hands free in uk. I have read there is difficulties in flashing international versions to work on AT&T due to network frequency but not much detail going the other way around.
Thanks
anyone please help out?
Sorry If I come across as a newbie here, just looking for some help
I had to switch providers, so I paid off the contract on my USC S5, and got a new S5 from Verizon (Don't ask why lol, long story.)
I have a friend who I really want to give this USC phone to, but they are also on Verizon. I need to get her on this phone with her current plan preferably with the SIM she already has I really do hope this is possible, she could really use it.
I need to know how to go about getting it on her network. Do I need to Factory Unlock?
If so, How?
(I don't even know if it is locked)
Phone in question is currently rooted and running Cyanogen Mod 12.
SM-G900R4
16GB
Really do appreciate any input on this. Thank you

The device have to be Carrier-unlocked (legal) and may be used with any GSM carrier that uses a frequency or band that this device supports. A SIM card and service plan must be purchased separately. This device's frequencies can be found in the product Specifications under Cellular Network. Your carrier's available frequencies may be found in the links below.
- North American Carriers.
- South American Carriers.
- Worldwide Carriers.
Joki1981 Thank you very much for your answer i will check this today since he need an answer till the end of the day. One More Question. The "Carrier-Unlocked" isnt the same as "Factory Unlocked" or "GSM Unlocked". I am searching and finding several devices that are Factory unlocked and i dont know if it is the same ( Probably not )

Take a look: HERE.
Thanks for the tips. I concluded that i can buy a factory unlocked phone and it will work in europe without any problem right? The only problem i might have is the 4G connection i think. Still afraid of buying a US phone because when it arrives here, anything might go wrong but the price is so much lower than here.....
