Will XT907 ROMS work on XT905? - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting a RAZR M and since I'm in Australia, I just want to know if XT907 roms like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735565 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735587 will work on the Australian version of the RAZR M.
I've seen this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329570 but it doesn't really say much about Cyanogenmod.
Thanks, any reply will be appreciated
DrShellgon:fingers-crossed:

There's already a thread here.

Do you know any stable CM roms? Preferably 10.1, 10.2 and 11
Thanks
DrShellgon :fingers-crossed:

You just have to look at CM's own site. The older CM10 builds are obsoleted now, the newer CM11 ROMs are here. Since most of the CM versions have never been really "stable", there's no "stable" and "RC" labels anymore, just "Nightly" and "M Snapshot". The latest Snapshot "M7" was just released yesterday.

If you're going for CM11, yes.

when i try cm 11 M7 and M6 booth file after wipe data/factory reset. install zip from sdcard these error appear
in both file
this package for xt925 xt926 xt 907vanquish_u,vanquish.scorpion mini,mb866,qinarz.asanti.asanti_c,
xt897,xt897c"devices:this is scorpion_mini_u".
e:error in /sdcard/cm11 cm-11-20140505-SNAPSHOT-M6-moto_msm8960.zip (status 7) installation aborted..

Then it seems to be a problem with the recovery.
Do you have the latest CWM (right now it's 6.0.4.4)?

Try CarbonROM, really good kitkat rom in my opinion

and as for this error you will have to add xt905 in it or remove getvar lines. google it . (not confirm. just came in my mind)

Is it possible to update to Cyanogenmod if your Razr M is already running Jelly Bean? Cos the Australian version comes preloaded with Jelly Bean and I don't know if there's any way to downgrade it back to ICS to unlock the bootloader.

No, your bootloader has to be unlocked. But since the Australian Razr M is not a Verizon phone, there's no need for exploits etc.
You can unlock it the official way.

It's not about ICS, it's about having a firmware with an unpatched exploit for the unlock and the latest even was a JB one. But this is only for Verizon devices and there is no way to downgrade with a locked bootloader anyway.
So, if your bootloader is locked, you cannot downgrade. If it's unlocked you don't have to downgrade (because it would be only for the unlock...).

Thanks, but one more question: with CM11 at this link here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Moto_msm8960_Info, is the 9.18.79 firmware JB?

It says
This can only be accomplished on stock firmware versions prior to 9.18.79

Since the builds are unified for all the 2012 Razrs, 9.18.79 is for Razr HD (yes, it's JB and the latest unlockable was JB too).
But since yesterday and the new towelroot this is already a bit outdated, because even newer KK firmwares seem to be unlockable again (until Moto patch it another time).

No you can't. With a locked bootloader you can't just flash anything. However, you can use SafeStrap, after rooting, and flash some of older SafeStrap ROMs.

[Firmware] Flashable JSS15R 3,15 Bootloader&Firmware update

For those of us who are rooted, don't want to update parts of the OS, who want to stay on an older versions of updated OS files, or just are on a custom ROM, here is a flashable of the firmware updates (which include bootloader).
This updates your bootloader to version 3.15.

Nice work!
Quick question for you, will the bootloader and firmware updates persist after custom ROM updates or will I need to reflash each time?
for example, I'm running CarbonRom at the moment which is based on JSS15Q - I've flashed this zip without any problems but will I need to reflash it when I install the next nightly?
Cheers
Macca

Yeah, I should have been clearer as well - I was basically checking that custom roms don't flash the bootloader (I'd assumed that a factory restore / ota update would)

Quick queastion , I was on JSS15J when stock, flashed ROM that says now JLS36C. If I flash this will it erase everything and do I even need to? Thanks for the help.
It won't erase any user data. Whether you want to flash is up to you. You'll get it automatically if you wait for jls36g ota.

yes, you need to be on stock brazil rom.
i RSD's brazil's 4.4.4 then did the update to 5.0.2, then manually flashed the modems. Then i flashed TWRP, so now i am sitting on a regular rooted xt1058 5.0.2 moto x. The warning people are giving is that once you do this, like previous updates, you cannot RSDlite back to a 4.4.4 build. This is not an issue for us, as we can just flash stuff within TWRP, like krypton, for example.

The only "downgrade" people are talking about is bootloader version. OS version does not matter.
If you were stock KK, then you probably have the KK BL which is the most recent BL besides the 5.0.2 release. Flashing the 5.0.2 release just means you can no longer flassh the stock 4.4 SBF package because that attempts to install the older bootloader. you can still flash the rom associated with the SBF package though twrp, if that makes sense

Very risky flashing a different carriers boot loader and gpt.bin.I would just wait a little bit longer.
Again, please be aware that if you flash another carrier/model 4.4.4 and flash the brazilian OTA, DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT try to downgrade back to your original stock model/carrier 4.4.4 to take the OTA meant for your device
These instructions are fairly easy to follow and people assume it's just as easy to get back where they started but it's not, if you flash the brazilian OTA then be prepared to wait for a leaked 5.0.2 SBF for your model/carrier, there's no guarantee that it will be leaked and even if it is you have to hope that the gpt/bootloader version is the same or newer than the ones in the brazilian OTA
It does work fine but know the risks and don't expect XDA to be able to fix everything

Hi, Thanks for the clarification, but I have few more questions:
Q1. Do I have to re-lock the bootloader before doing this?
Q.2 What will be the build version, after flashing this update?
The title of this posts suggests that, after flashing this update it will become 24.65-34-3 (correct me if I'm wrong)
However, I'm already using this version and I'm getting the update notification for version 24.81.3.en.03
Please help!

Bootloader itseft has nothing to do with operational speed.
Lineage is much snappier than CM was. So this might be the key point.
Also I doubt about mobile coverage, because radio version is just the same. Not a single change.

Q.2 What will be the build version, after flashing this update?
The title of this posts suggests that, after flashing this update it will become 24.65-34-3 (correct me if I'm wrong)
However, I'm already using this version and I'm getting the update notification for version 24.81.3.en.03
Please help!

The full version is titan_retaildsds-user 6.0 MPB24.65-34-3 3 release-keysMSM8626BP_1032.3116.99.00R
24.81.3.en.03 is Android (system volume) build version while MPB24.65-34-3 is whole package version

Bootloader itseft has nothing to do with operational speed.
Lineage is much snappier than CM was. So this might be the key point.
Also I doubt about mobile coverage, because radio version is just the same. Not a single change.

I already had lineageos before i updated bootloader. It's definitely faster, especially the scrolling, feels more responsive overall.

Sorry but even looking in the https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/bootloader-update-t3060007 thread I could not find how to see the current bootloader version and what serious advantages the security patch brings (on XT1068 EU Version).

Did you try 2.79 release or 2.79SR3? Only the SR3 or later is supposed to work fine on Moto device without that echo line for systemless.

Hi, Thanks for the clarification, but I have few more questions:
Q1. Do I have to re-lock the bootloader before doing this?
Q.2 What will be the build version, after flashing this update?
