-New bootloader (4887);
-August security patch

the phone feels a bit snappier with this new bootloader, running latest oficial lineageos.
Edit: Not sure if placebo or not, but mobile coverage where i'm at seems a bit better too according to battery stats.

I've unlocked bootloader and my phone is rooted (last stock rom Android 6.0, Build: MPB24.65-34)
Can I flash this update right-away from TWRP?
If yes, I'd appreciate a step by step instruction for flashing this zip via TWRP.
Thank you!

This is not twrp flashable zip.this is fast boot easy installer, simply unzip to your pc and connect mobile your pc with bootloader mode by usb cable and double click easy installer .bat file and follow instructions that's all

Hi, Thanks for the clarification, but I have few more questions:
Q1. Do I have to re-lock the bootloader before doing this?
Q.2 What will be the build version, after flashing this update?
The title of this posts suggests that, after flashing this update it will become 24.65-34-3 (correct me if I'm wrong)
However, I'm already using this version and I'm getting the update notification for version 24.81.3.en.03
Please help!

Bootloader itseft has nothing to do with operational speed.
Lineage is much snappier than CM was. So this might be the key point.
Also I doubt about mobile coverage, because radio version is just the same. Not a single change.

Sorry but even looking in the https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/bootloader-update-t3060007 thread I could not find how to see the current bootloader version and what serious advantages the security patch brings (on XT1068 EU Version).

Did you try 2.79 release or 2.79SR3? Only the SR3 or later is supposed to work fine on Moto device without that echo line for systemless.

i cant update my device coz the system detects that my device has been rooted though i already unroot it in the SuperSU app as stated on the One Click root thread.
Flashed with flash tool over 20h on a phone from VDF Romania. All went well, nothing spectacular to report works and seems as snappy (or choppy) as 20H was. Needs some settling in to decide but guess there are improvements (or slowdowns) somewhere there deep in the code.
hi can someone confirm the baseband version on their about .
i just flashed the modem only and i want to confirm it went ok.
many thanks
so whats new ? any news for when we will get the 5.1 SW -_-

You do not need root to install with KDZ files numerous guides to do it on the forums with a quick search.
the most important change is voLTE support, at least here in italy

How do i upgrade from 5.1.1 to 6?

Hey guys,
Rooted phone with TWRP and Xposed.
Purchased in USA (amazon)
About Phone: http://pasteboard.co/Khp5Wg2.png
There are so many threads in DEV (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development), sadly I'm not sure which one i should be referring to - Could i please be referred to the correct one?
Also:
AFAIF all i need to do is download the correct file, boot to TWRP and flash the file, that's what i did with my Nexus 5 - is the process still the same? will i need to re-install things like SuperSU/TWRP/Xposed?
if updating the stock via flashing deletes information on the device, is it possible do bypass this and do it in a different way? such as somehow re-enabling OTA?
thank you!

Hey,
thanks for the quick asnwer, there are 4 files for 6.0 there, since i have a single sim card and i got my device in US can i assume this is the right link:
For LA SingleSIM users: XT1572_CLARK_RETLA_6.0_MPH24.49-18_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
Or is there a way to tell from inside the device if i have the LA or EU version?

If I was you. I would download the 5.1.1 stock Twrp backup, flash that. Then fastboot flash the 5.1.1 recovery. After rebooting you should get the two updates. Then re-root after the two OTA updates. By taking the OTA's, I believe your getting some binaries you can't get from the firmwares (rpm.bin, etc).
Or... Just download the last twrp 6.0 backup and flash that. You won't have to worry about recovery then.

Update via OTA Axon A2017.

Hey I bought an Axon 7 A2017 from China and I just figured out that it doesn't have OTA updates because the buyer installed a multi-language OS that prevents OTA .Please I want to know how to enable ota or a way to update manually to the latest android Nougat . Can you please give me a simple method because I'm a real noob in flashing and unlocking smartphones. I want only to update the stock OS to the latest android version and then root the smartphone in order to install some root required apps.
Thanks Folks.

I don't have the chinese version, but you have to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP, then you'll be able to install the stock ROM. Try to use bkores's axon7toolkit
Also try searching for this (in Q&A), I'm 100% sure this has been asked at least twice before. You could've gotten an answer much sooner if you had tried to find an old post that asks the same

Not guides, just people who asked this already. This is really common.
Or you can just go the easy way and try using the axon7toolkit, it will ask you what model it is, and you can put A2017

Just update to B13, it doesn't matter if the latest OTA doesn't appear, you'll probably need to install more than one OTA. Also, if you'll do it this way don't unlock the phone until you get the latest version.

You can use a flashable system zip and use it on TWRP, I think DrakenFX made some for the A2017. Otherwise you need to flash the a2017 stock recovery on it (with a flashable zip like tron1's or drakenfx's) and then use the update feature on the phone.

Rooting Moto G4 XT1622 running Nougat 7.0

Has anyone successfully, and without subsequent issues, rooted the g4 XT1622?
I have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. Have tried flashing two separate versions of Super SU (version 2.78 and 2.82) .
Each appears to flash successfully and complete but when rebooting phone stays on a black screen.
I then have to reboot into recovery and restore the Nandroid backup.
I tried Kingroot but that says no solution for this device.
If anyone has managed it I'd be grateful for the detail.

Indeed you are correct. The stock kernel does not have an exploit for root access, that's why SuperSU and Magisk leave you at a black screen upon flashing the zip file. Having any custom kernel should fix the problem(Vegito or ElementalX).

Thanks - I may be trying to do something wrong but when I tried to flash ElementalX from the app it returned a message that the device needed to be rooted to install ElementalX. I wasn't sure where to go from there.
yes, i am running rooted G4 (xt1622) with TWRP and super su 2.78 now. as far as I can remember, there is one line of code like 'systemless=true' (or something similar, it's easy to search online) to enter via the Linux terminal. Then it can be rooted successfully. without that line, i got a soft-bricked mogo g4 as well (black screen forever).
it's a shame that the rooted phone cannot install OTA updates at all. I am still on Android 6.0.1 (which is the stock rom and very old). I am planning to restore to stock then upgrade to Nougat recently.

I really appreciate your great help. still confused about the procedure that needs to take:
plan a:
1. go back to ATHENE_MPJ24.139.23.4(the current one, 6.0.1), everything including the stock recovery
2. wait for OTA, update a couple times to the latest nougat
plan b:
1. flash the file from your link which is ATHENE_NPJS25.93-14-4,
2. is this the end?
I do notice the difference in the name: MPJ vs. NPJS, does that matter? I flashed several phones, but never figure out what the names meant.

It is Exynos right?
You just can't downgrade bootloaders, with the build number you just posted, if you count 5 in from the end, you can see you are on bootloader 6, so you can not flash bootloader 5 or lower filmware.
As long as you have the OEM toggle turn on, you can flash TWRP and a custom rom. Just if you want to go back to stock filmware, just make sure you flash bootloader 6 or higher.
When reverting, if I flash bootloader 5, my phone (it is exynos) will brick or simply not work?
Also, please could someone link which twrp is the right one to flash (can I just use regular Odin as well?) because there are so many out there and I really don't want to brick.
Thanks in advance.
Bump. I am a complete newbie and I just want someone to guide me to the correct XDA thread.
Thanks in advance.

You can not flash older bootloaders? I think, at least not in Odin, on TWRP tho I'm not sure, TBH IDK what would happen lol

Odin will just fail and not do anything, I screwed up something and had to reflash factory image, but didn't realize I was flashing an older bootloader version, once I tried to flash current one and it was fine
