[Q] sd not responding - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hi,
i have problem with sd card
i dont have sistem installed and i cant mount sd card
when i connect phone to computer it doesnt recognize it
i tried in download mode but the same thing happens
i have CWM v 5.0.2.8 installed
when it try to mount sd card it says: unable to write to ums lunfile (no such file or directory)
Can someone help?

first backup any data you have on your sd card
connect sd card to pc via card reader
remove all partitions with minitool (google it) and create a new partition of fat32 and format it with minitool
next boot up your phone with the sd card in
goto
settings
storage
unmount sd card
erase/format sd card
now go into cwm - you sd card will now be mountable
you can then copy any backups back to sd card
An odin connection does not require an sd card - if odin is not connected you either dont have the usb drivers installed or you have a faulty usb cable/port

I think you didnt see that i have no system on mobile
I cant go to settings

flash stock rom via odin - it doesnt require an sd card
if your odin doesnt show a connection under com id then you havent installed the usb drivers
you can format your sd on a pc via a card reader with mini tool as already explained

Error when trying to format SD

When I try to format my SD from my Windows 7 Computer. it gives me an error anyone got this before?
no.
Did you mount your phone or plug it in using a sd adapter?
to format your sd card on a phone just boot into recovery and choose to partition your sd card and choose your settings.
If you are not rooted go to settings and there should be an option to format underneath the data section.

SD card Upgrade problems

My apologies is this has been posted before. I am trying to upgrade the sd card in my phone (MT3G), using theunlockr.com instructions found here:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/ho...-android-when-using-swap-hero-and-or-apps2sd/
So here is my problem. I put the new card in the phone and follow the instructions. But when it’s time for me to connect the new card to my PC, my PC will not read the card unless I format the card first (FAT32 is the only format option it gives me). I get this same error when plugging the card into the PC or using the mass storage option from the phone’s recovery screen. So I chose to format the card so the PC would see it and I could load the ROM back on to it. Now the phone does not want to mount the sd card.
So I start over again. I plug the new sd card into the phone and wipe, partition with no problems. But when it’s time to convert ext2 to ext3 I get this error : “run update_fs via consel”. What does this mean and how do I accomplish this?
How do I get the sd card to be readable from both the phone and the PC?
Thank You

[Q] Is it possible?

Hey. I have owned my Wildfire for a week now so I am still a noob. I wanted to know if it's possible to install a custom ROM on the wildfire without an SD card so basically do it through USB. I have seen some phones can do it with Amon RA recovery but I don't think it is possible for the Wildfire.
Thanks.
Dont think it is although why would you want to do it without? The wf comes with a sd card
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Because when i put my SD card in the adapter and put it into my laptop it cant open the card and asks "do you want to format" and when i choose yes it says "unable to complete format" so im screwed with that SD card
Use paragon partition n look on YouTube 4 a video that will sort it out n will fix that error
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Still dont work its not even showing up on my computer now ive probably ****ed it somehow but on my phone it says 1.83gb free space. weird.
Dose paragon partitioning show ur sd at all if not erm check to make sure ur SD card reader is ok bu using a different SD card
if paragon partitioning is showing ur sd card.
is ur SD card signed as active and does it have a volume letter as these thing will stop I from formating the SD card

It showed my SD card then when I tried to format it would only show my hard drive and plus the free version does not let you do anything to the card.
Try Panasonic SD Formatter:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/index.html
E: Probably unrelated, but, make sure your card reader supports SDHC cards.
1.What happens when you connect the phone via USB and choose mount as disk drive?
2.When you use the SD card adapter, and right click on the SD card's drive letter if there's an option to "open as portable device" try that also try updating your laptops card reader drivers.
3.Use bluetooth to transfer the ROMS?
4. If you're already rooted, try formatting SD card via ROM MAnager.
As far as I know you cannot install custom firmware (a "ROM") without an SD card.
You don't have to use your SD card directly from the computer to install custom firmware. You can use file storage mode on your phone's USB connection or adb to access your SD card through your phone on your computer.
To install CyanogenMod with the help of adb, follow the steps in hxxp://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Wildfire:_Full_Update_Guide and put the update.zip into the root of your SD card with this command:
Code:
adb push update-cm-6.1.0-buzz-signed.zip /sdcard/
You need to have your phone connected to your computer, have the appropriate drivers installed to do this and have USB debugging enabled on your phone. Documentation on adb is available at hxxp://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html
An alternative way to the above adb method is to enable USB phone storage mode when you connect your phone to your computer and transfer the update.zip file to your SD card.
Hi guys thanks for all your help I have fixed my problem. All I did was use a windows 7 laptop and it worked.

[Q] CWM Error mounting /sdcard!

I used the NVflash root method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714, but when I tried to update CWM from v3.0.2.8 to v3.1.0.1 it can't mount the sdcard. Every solution I've seen says that you need to format the sdcard but I can't format it using Windows because it views it as a media device and I can't format it from CWM because it needs to mount it to format it. Any ideas on how I can get it working? Or should I try flashing roms by another method?
Pic shows all the different things I've tried and the messages that it produced.
take a micro sd card and put it in
go into recovery and go down to advanced
repartition the micro sd card
reboot
put what evere you want to flash in the micro sd card and flash
take your sdcard out and use SD Formatter 3.0 to format it. Now try re-flash the new CWM.

I repartitioned it but now I can't add anything to it. The TF can't find the card and my computer can't read it.
I formatted it, it worked. Now to get it to stop aborting the roms I'm trying to install. Thanks guys

defy + sd card problem

I have accidentally formatted my SD card in ext3 file system mode and now my phone cannot read it.Even when i connect the phone to the computer in usb memory card mode...the sd card is not shown in the computer. So i am not being able to format it again. Please tell me how to reformat it back to fat32 ....
Use EASEUS Partition Master, it will read your SD card in EXT3 format and will allow you to manage / format it!
open disk management (start->run->diskmgmt.msc) and erase your ext3 partition (doable in windows)
If you have any trouble doing this while the card is in your phone, you can also remove it and use an USB Card Reader.
But as said before, you just have to change the unit type to get it working again.
Good luck.

You can use a USB Card reader and this software: "hp disk storage format tool".
