I want to try to revert my T-Mobile g2 back to stock to see if it fixes my issue with getting good no GPS lock. I've tried several roms, both stock based and aosp, and can't get GPS to work. I've read some things that suggested reverting back to stock firmware may fix it.
So, my question is this. Do I go back to kitkat or Jellybean? Is it still not possible to root stock kitkat?

if you want to be able to root then go with jb because there still isn't a way to root d801 t-mo on kk
Well, I reverted to stock 4.2.2, and still no GPS. I called T-Mobile, and they're sending me a replacement phone ☺

There is a 110mb update available through sprint for me called ls980zv7_01_to_zv8_13. Do I need to unroot before applying this update? I don't want to brick my phone again.

I ignored it also but I can't get it off my notifications. We're you able to?

That's the only way to get rid of custom recovery? Darn it took me a while to customize this phone.

Nope. It's still there. Might have to bite the bullet and revert to stock.
Anyone have any info on the update?
I tried searching real quick but didn't see anything.

What update? That's also a pretty big size for a minor update, if so, KitKat? Hey a man can only hope haha

Just found it.
Says audio enhancement and google security patch...
That doesn't add up.
They're leaving a lot out obviously.
I can't post the link on here because it changes a couple parts of the link to smiley faces.
Go here: http://support.sprint.com/support/
Select lg.
Select g2.
On the far right near the bottom under "Device Resources" select "Find and update the software version on your LG G2"

I reverted to stock to install it. Its the same android version. The software version number changed to LS980V8. Can't notice anything that is changed.

Which instructions did you use to revert to stock? I'm stock rooted with twrp. I'm guessing that I need to revert back to stock recovery at the least.

Download and extract this zip http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+G2%2FStock%2FSprint+LS980%2F And open the readme text and follow those instructions.
Hey there,
Is there a known way to revert back to 4.2.2 rom from the new Kit Kat update from Tmo? I want to flash the PAC Rom for this and can't because there is no TWRP or other way of a custom recovery as of yet on this update. Makes me sad. I actually am on a rooted stock rom at this point. Just no custom recovery. Thanks for any help.
You can use this guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476) to downgrade to a version where custom recovery is possible and you will be able to flash pac

I know there's a way to do it but based on this thread we may be seeing a solution that allows custom recovery with 4.4.2 soon . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667227

I've been following the thread and the way I see it is even if the way there making recovery works we who are on kit Kat still need to use the flash tool to go to jelly bean and flash a modified kit Kat that will allow custom recoveries

True. I'm just hoping it isn't so locked down that we can't use other custom kernels. But thanks for the link, I'll be getting my G2 in two days and that info was relevant to my interests.

Well, as it turns out not so fast. I am trying to use the flash tool and am getting all sorts of errors. This is crazy I am contemplating returning this one to the Tmobile store and getting a replacement ( still inside the 14 day window. lol ) The replacement would still have 4.2.2 .. lol I hate being locked down. I die inside a little.
What's going everyone? I'm having this auto-rotate bug on every Kitkat ROM other than LG Stock KK and I was told that it is the modem but I have no idea where to find a Stock KK modem for when I want to switch back to LG Stock KK. I have a T-Mobile LG G2 and I know where to find the older modem to fix auto-rotate but can't find LG KK modem for T-Mobile.. Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome! You just saved me a couple ROM installs! It also fixed Google Camera app. I guess orientation device didn't work.
So for some reason my screen won't rotate into landscape mode. I have the rotation setting turned on but nothing happens. And when I try to calibrate my sensor, the settings app force closes. Any ideas?

Just stock 12b. I'm beginning to think it might be the modem. Because I was lending a hand a experimenting with the 24a kitkat build for the VS980 and had to flash a kk modem to be able to boot into the build. Do you think the modem would screw with rotation settings?

Yes it's definitely the modem I've read some people tried the kk modem and in order for rotation to continue to work had to continue using the kk modem or downgrade via flashtool

How do you downgrade via flashtool? I just went into recovery and flashed the 12b modem and rotation still doesn't work.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
Flashing back an old radio works fine for me, have you tried that? no need to use LG flash tools if you can simply just flash the modem via recovery.
Going to try the kk modem I flashed yesterday.

I had an issue where I was on cm11 with rotation working completely fine and then decided to try a stock KitKat ROM. After reverting back to cm my rotation was broken. I tried everything you could imagine aside from going through the whole starting from scratch bs.. So I tried one last thing and it worked! I simply flashed my stock T-Mobile modem that's supposed to break rotation but funny enough it fixed it! Try that and see if it helps from now on.
Hi everyone,
Do you know if it is possible to return back to the stock rom if I am currently on TWRM recovery running CM11 4.4 rom? All my apps keep constantly crashing and I am having issues with my text messages not going through. I found the rom for 4.2.2 but I am unsure if its possible without messing up phone. How would one even do this? Thank you again!
Yes you can return to.it.with odin. For stock unrooted.

So I can literally just plug my phone in and flash the stock rom to my phone right? If so, thats great !
If stock unrooted is what you're going for, yes. You will have to grab the 4.2.2 tar and odin it. Back up anything important because if after running Odin successfully, and the phone boots up but hangs on sprint splash screen. You will have to perform a factory reset.
