Any one tried to use advanced recovery CWM?

we all know that Samsung recovery do not have backup and restore options, thats why i always use CWM recovery (Clock Work Mod)
but i read that it is not compatible with note3 when it come to restore any backups made
so is there any one following this issue or tried it and confirm if its working or not
i know that flashing advanced recovery will trigger knox, but iam already knox 0x1 so i will do what ever i want to do till they find a solution 4 that
that was a known issue with both cwm and twrp but it was fixed a while ago... AFAIK both reocveries should work fine, however i personally use twro so cant comment on any of the new cwm nightlys.. but you can check the thread to see if it has any issues or not

I think the thread for CWM is this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454079
I am stil Knox 0x0 so I have not yet tested it myself but it seems a lot of people had and is currently OK (as long as you don't mind Knox 0x1).

and restore backup using this method here
(using online nandroid backup and nandroid manager
hope this helps someone
EDIT: for me i chose to backup to external sd card, this WASN'T /external_sd but was /storage/extSdCard, which is further down if you scroll

[Q] Possible to install a custom recovery WITHOUT root?

Hi,
Tried to google it, but seems i just can find howtoos on installing custom recovery if i root the phone.
However before i root the phone (since its a work phone) i would like to make a nandroid backup of it just incase it needs service sometime in the future. And therefor have a NON rooted image of it.
So my question is: Is it possible to install a custom recovery to make a nandroid of the S5 without rooting it and voiding the warranty?

First read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313072
Second If I'm sure you will not void your warranty but MAYBE you will have in download mode Knox Flag 0x1 or something like this and Custom binary 1... BUT MAYBE I'M NOT COMPLETELY SURE
Install custom recovery, kernel, ROM etc. sure trip Knox to 0x1. Unfortnately reset doesn´t exist.
Only towelroot doesn´t trip knox.
Is it possible to undo towelroot again without a nandroid?

[Q] Mobile ODIN Pro - Installing TWRP, Reactivation Lock...

Hey XDA,
I'm about to install TWRP via Mobile ODIN Pro (v4.20) and I have a few questions.
1.) It says it will trip KNOX, but when I installed SuperSU I have successfully disabled KNOX. Does this mean that even if I install TWRP recovery, KNOX still won't be tripped?
2.) Can someone point me to a link on how to install TWRP step by step via Mobile ODIN? (I found one that shows how to install FlipZ Custom CWM, but I'd like one for TWRP) I need the latest TWRP version link also.
2.5) Can the stock recovery make nandroids? I'd like to make a nandroid before flashing TWRP, but if I cant it's no big deal. (Again, just wondering, but I still want TWRP)
I just want to do this right so I can make a nandroid backup. I am already familiar with TWRP from my HTC Evo 4G LTE, so im not interested in CWM.
FYI: I am on the stock ND2 rom - G900P (Sprint) - KOT49H.G900PVPU1AND2 - (if that helps you)
Thanks in advance! - zmag
Ad 1. Custom recovery trip Knox to 0x1 = loose waranty for motherboard
Ad 2.5 No.. Only custom recovery

You have not successfully disabled Knox and as you already know, installing a custom recovery like TWRP will increment the Knox flag.
No, the stock recovery cannot make a full backup. That is one of the primary benefits of TWRP. Your best backup alternative given a stock recovery would be Titanium Pro, which isn't nearly as good as TWRP. After you install TWRP you can make a full backup.
The only obvious way to make something resembling a Nandroid without a custom recovery would be to use the dd command from the command line and back up each partition.
You were just telling me in another thread how you always do forum searches. It's not hard to find numerous Odin tutorials if you search.
.
just get img file of stock recovery so u can flash back if u need best way. u can make backup with twrp then when you restore u just got to flash stock img ir tar of recovery

[Q] S4 GT-I9505 Root / Knox / PhilZ recovery

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 KOT49H I9505XXUGNK4 running Android 4.4.2
Currently Knox status is 0x0
I have read many threads here on XDA but have not found the answer I'm looking for.
Is it possible to install a custom recovery such as PhilZ recovery and keep Knox at 0x0?
I have read that using chainfires auto-root package will trip knox, so is the only way to root is using TowelRoot?
Is TowelRoot still valid for this version of the firmware KOT49H I9505XXUGNK4?
If TowelRoot works on this firmware, is it correct that I should then remove all knox apps and then install SuperSu from the playstore?
Thanks!

1. No. Custom Recovery will void automatically your warranty: KNOX 0x1.
2. Towelroot don't works with all firmwares. But you can try this other method for root your device without void your warranty: HERE..
3. No. I think only till GNF1.
4. You can remove the bloatware and KNOX app being rooted: HERE. Your device don't gonna be rooted only downloading SuperSU of the playstore. Follow the step 2.

So if any custom recovery will automatically void my warranty (trip knox) how do I do a full backup (nandroid backup) that I can restore later?
I know I could install the online nandroid backup app but I if my phone boot loops, I would not be able to install it.
What do other people do, is everybody not concerned about the knox flag?

1. One way to backup your things without trip knox is:
- Copy all your internal data on your pc (photos, music, videos, important data). Make this one time for month. You can copy every folder for be sure to your pc too ( I do this).
- Make a backup of your EFS/IMEI (very important) keeping it on your pc or External SDCard: HERE. EFS/IMEI is the identification code of your device. You can lose it sometimes only flashing via ODIN a NEW UPDATE.
2. KNOX isn't important in some countries coz maybe you get your device to one service center and they fix your phone anyway. Depend where you live: you will be out of warranty or no, simply. The people that want "play" (apply mods, flash custom roms, custom recoveries) with their devices don't care about KNOX anymore.

I tripped knox 3 months after I bought my device brand new. And many other people have done so.
Somebody said that if you live in the EU and trip knox, this will not void any of your consumer rights.
He also said that: Samsung stated that if you live in the Netherlands, tripping knox will never void your warranty.
