is there any tweak or setting to improve it?
due to the TyTN II driver..it does play videos good and not need to re-encode..just drag n drop n play.
but i noticed the framerate is still not good enuff ..if it cud be improved..it wud be the perfect portable DVD player in your pocket.
i also noticed in Portrait mode...framerate is higher than in Landscape mode.
Lower the bitrate of video and audio until it's acceptable. I have a specific one I always using when re-encoding files. I'll have a look later if I remember
Ways to improve framerate without having to convert the videos? Converting takes up lots of time. For shows like 24, the X1 does not play very smoothly
X1 is using cpu to decode movie, so overclock cpu will speed up the coreplayer playback performance,hehe...
You cant overclock quakcomm only Xscale and omap

so i guess only solution is to convert the videos like u have to do for iphone/ipods?
kills the fun...because i dont have so much time for conversion..and whats the point when u waste more time on conversion than watching the show itself
im using coreplayer and it runs around 22-24 fps
Samsungs Game Tuner was originally made for the S6 and Note 5 but it now supports the Note 4 and other devices. Without rooting to use nomone or xposed app settings and fiddling with dpi and resolution, you can lower games resolutions to achieve higher fps or save battery.
(FYI to those who disabled or removed galaxy app store) Requires Game Service from galaxy app store to run this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.gametuner.thin&hl=en
After trying the app I think it may need a DVFS disabler or some optimization because I was only able to get smoother game play on Modern Combat 5 online when drastically lowering resolution to extra low which looked very pixelated (Offline play was buttery smooth on the custom low resolution @ 60fps). Lowering the resolution to the medium setting for the Walking Dead Season 2 and Real Racing 3 resulted in seemingly less fps. I know Android's optimizations aren't the best but that seems backwards to me. Unfortunately there are no options to force anti aliasing. Go ahead and give it a try and let me know what you think and be sure to leave a comment on the Play store or Galaxy app store and maybe Samsung will notice more users (Note 4 in particular but seems apparent for all devices judging by the comments.) and help.

So far I tried it on Real Racing 3. It made little to no difference, lower settings just made the game worse. The only game it really made a difference on was on Rop. It was slow on my Note 4 and now on medium settings with 60fps it's very smooth. I have Sniper Fury installed on my phone also but it ran smooth before using Game Tuner so I didn't mess with the settings for that game.
What graphics settings do you use?
Do you guys use gfx tool?
Custom kernels (with gpu/cpu overclock) help?
As i couldnt find the right settings.
Is sdm625 capable of playing the game at HD realistic, 1920*[email protected]

Put at default graphics it should work fine with minor lag. increase the graphics it starts to lag.
I keep everything at low, increasing it does not actually help. I am on stock ROM. I am happy with the performance, as long as i can keep killing few guys.
I keep it smooth with realistic & high from rates .. It works superfine with barely any frame drop.. Results are consistent .. U can try out mah settings
fact snapdragon 625 will still have lag when you playing games like pubg or mobile legends. snapdragon 800+ better than 625+ for games. but for social media, browsing i think no have different.

I am late in replying here. But that "fact" was very helpful as i had no idea that Snapdragon 8XX series existed. Shame on me.
I'm on lineage 15.1 with velocity kernel on performance mode (2.4hz cpu and 855hz gpu)with the ElementalX governer and play on balanced realistic.

There must have been misunderstanding on your side as we can't play hdr mode on non hdr device. Display must be hdr.
Will try hd and fps ultra. Thanks

That may be true. But you need hdr display to take advantage of hdr graphics.
And i have tried on hd graphics are little choppy

its the gpu man. the cpu is more than enough for it. if you are rooted, give a little boost for the gpu by overclocking but dont expect a miracle out of it.

I recommend low graphics and high fps.
I use GFXtool to set graphics to smooth + Ultra (60fps) frame rate. It's very playable and very smooth.
Using HD also works fine but the issue is with frame drops when there's a lot going on (frag grenades and specially smoke)
You can also set it to HDR but you'd need a phone with an HDR display for it to work.
Does anyone know of an app that lowers a game's resolution for better performance? I'm on lineage 15.1 and on stock I remember it had an option to but I need some kind of graphics tool for gaming.
you mean gltools? i dont see the point now since allot of game use Vulcan rendering

He is most likely talking about the built in LG game Battery Saver option that let you change the resolution from 2k to 1080p or 720p and had a few other options like frame rate and stuff
I don't know of any 3rd party "universal" apps that would let you do this unfortunately.
Hey.
Does game mode really improve the performance of my phone?
So you use it??
If you mean the game mode of the game suite, I have not noticed any particular improvement, perhaps it depends on the games. But I've just discovered an interesting trick to greatly increase the framerate and graphics settings, just go into the phone settings, display, screen resolution and set up 1280x720 then in HD, I tested Shadowgun Legends and is playable even ultra graphics and it is really very fluid! The phone heats up even less, and the framerate increases a lot. Obviously the screen will be slightly blurred but that does not compromise the playability. I've also tested Injustice 2 and it's much smoother and smoother than Full HD. So lowering the resolution to 720p you have a real performance boost! A bit like what happens in PC games. I hope it will come in handy to some of you, and let me know!
