[Q] Should I flash UK open ROM

I've just bought a LG G2 32GB from eBay (Hong Kong version D802) and the question is to ensure that I get 4G using my network provider that is 3UK.
Should I flash a UK open ROM on the phone even though the listing states that the phone supports 800/1800 4G bands which I believe are the ones that 3UK use?
Having looked at the revert to stock ROM thread there's only a 16GB UK open ROM available can I still flash this ROM or would there be issues?
Or should I just stick to the Hong Kong ROM that ships with the phone?
Thanks in advance
Stick to the rom that comes with the phone. On a side note, if you flash a 16gb rom, you will get a 16gb phone and its very hard to restore

Thank you for the very useful response. That's scary that if you flash a 16gb ROM the phone turns into a 16gb phone I don't want to be doing that.
Same issue.
Hello,
i Am newbie here, recently i brought a LG G2 D802 supposedly from a EU store and i am in Finland, but to my surprise the software firmware is Asia made, Hong Kong to be particular. it goes like this, D80210b-HKG-XX build JDQ39B kernel 3.4.0. With this original Stock software, the 4G option is not shown( i know it can be done by hidden menu but i want to get a permanent fix); the MMS setting althought i did it manually by inserting the values provided by the Network service provider.Still i am unable to get that fix.
I am in turn to contacting my seller for the correct working OPEN stock rom installed G2 but if the case does not go like that then i wish to root it to the OPEN international ROM . From what i have read, if you update then it goes back to the HKG rom, if there any way i can remove the factory rom with the OPEN Rom and receive the update OTA and it will not revert back. I have been doing my research on this but i am not able to get the answers... Hope some one will shine some light on this.
Thanks in Advance !!!

To get rid of carrier branding, you will need to flash unlocked stock rom using ODIN. Germany(csc=DBT) rom is the best for the SM-N910F. It will get rid of all bloatwares and carrier branding.
You can download the ROM from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...ermany-dbt-t3029508/post59616447#post59616447
Hi,don't know how the previous owner unlocked this phone but when I send email etc it says I'm on 02 ? I'm on T-Mobile & the sim does work no problem, the rom your saying Germany ?? Would I not be better of with a T-Mobile stock or will that fill it with bloatware as well ?
I want to do something along these lines
I had an O2 Note 4, unlocked with a code and an EE SIM. Running on the German BTU Lollipop. Now though I'd like to flash it via Odin with the stock 4.4 EE ROM. Is this possible? Currently I have tried to do it but I get "volume size too big 245760 < 512000" when I try to flash it from Odin.
My basic question though is: can I effectively change my O2 UK supplied Note 4 ROM with the EE one. I want to use the EE tap and pay app with my shiny new EE NFC SIM and this doesn't appear to be allowed unless I'm on an EE ROM, in the future I'd also like to use EE wifi calling when that is released for Note 4 via (presumably) the EE Note 4 Lollipop update too.

EE UK WiFi Calling G900F

Hey guys, I've got an S5 which I originally bought from phones4u, which is an unlocked and unbranded (BTU) S5.
I would like to use the WiFi calling feature as the signal in my new house isn't great. The WiFi calling option isn't available in the menus on my phone. Does anyone know if I can simply flash the EE branded firmware and it'll start working? Or is there something else I'll need to do?
Thanks!
If u try it ....post ur findings as im the same
Im just swapping to a T-Mobile stock deodexed rom from my EE one (needed a deodexed stock rom) and i will report back, but doubt it will work as it works off your Sim card and will most likely just tell you IMEI number is wrong or something
Yeah it seems it WILL work if you have a T-Mobile sim.
Cool! Well I know EE support WiFi calling, so should work. Thanks for posting your findings!
Did you flash over the top or did you wipe? Not sure I can be bothered to do a full wipe [emoji14]

Hello Guys, NEWBIE HERE<NEED HELP WITH ROMS AND CARRIER UNLOCK OVERSEAS FOR THE 350T>

Hello Guys, NEWBIE HERE<NEED HELP WITH ROMS AND CARRIER UNLOCK OVERSEAS FOR THE 350T>
So, heres the deal, I'm currently abroad, so I've got no idea of, if I can flash the Global Unlocked version of the Stock UNLOCKED rom for this variant of the GRAND PRIME.
Since it is the tmobile variant I did had my doubts when buying the phone, but I got it Dirt Cheap, either way i'm stranding of path, tried to unlock with preinstalled tmobile app, checked the imei on the tmobile - us database to see if that was the problem, not reported lost or stolen anywhere, so I figured, what if removing the preloaded apps that interfere with region lock of sim card reader locking, might help me?
Therefore, my question PLEASE HELP ME lol, its the only phone I have on me and need to use it here.
Regards.
Maki

Understanding flashing

Hi guys,
Just bought a galaxy s5 from my uncle who worked in Canada, the phone was locked to Telus Canada I unlocked it through unlockBase which was superfast and easy.. I have now really started using this phone and have now realised that the date format is different to what I usually use, I have done some research and found that an update stopped the ability to change it to prevent blackmarket sales or whatever.. I was thinking can I just flash a uk rom on the phone or not? But will it relock the phone? Also will rooting the phone enable me to change it? Although I don't wanna root because my online banking app won't work or WhatsApp?
Thanks in advance guys

This is definitely one of the strangest reasons for rooting...
But since it's a Telus phone its definitely a G900W8. You can cross flash all and only G900w8 firmwares so i.e. you can flash Rogers on bell, wind on telus, sasktel on koodo, etc

Thanks for the reply, yes rooting was the last option as some apps won't work.. so if i was to flash it i would only be able to use telus firmware which is US could I flash a UK firmware on it? And if I was to flash it would it still stay unlocked or will it need reunlocking?
EDIT: done some more research.. will changing the csc code on my phone to one of a uk firmware, then installing a uk firmware work?

Nope because anything outside of Canada uses a completely different phone model and flashing between different models will likely lead to a bricked phone (phone is damaged unrecoverable)
