What do you guys think? It says you try for 2 weeks then I'm pretty sure you gotta buy the phone on its actual price. Lol just thought it was interesting 0.01 off contract.
I wonder what the marketing team is playing at here. This is a unique way of selling phones.
so what if i get one for 2 weeks and then decide i dont want it? do i just send back a customized Moto X with no other charges? seems a little sketchy to me

It's possible they would require you to ship it back to them on your dime. IMO, this is completely fair. The penny puts your CC on their account. If people decide to take advantage of this for fraudulent reasons, Moto has your CC on their database and can easily charge you the full amount. This also moves units as well and gains exposure for the phone(sounds like their 500M marketing budget was cut). Some people may be convinced to keep the phone because spending the effort to ship back the phone may be too dissuading.
For our benefit, we get to test-run a phone at no risk for 2 weeks and we just have to send it back if we're done. That sounds good to me. Of course if they provide pre-paid labels to send back, then it really is no-risk for us.

Thats what im thinking. i want to try out a Wooden back before i use my code! if i cant get one, try it out and send it back for $.01, thats a no brainer. or even let my girlfriend try it out for 2 weeks and not use her GS3 that she always complains about...(Dont want her to get a iph*ne)
There is no charge to send it back from what i have heard.
No charge for shipping or the return either (you contact FedEx and they send the return packaging and can pick it up as well).
Motorola knows people will attempt to scam them for phones with this, if you read the FAQ for this Try Before You Buy offer they make it clear they can and will remotely brick the phones if you attempt to rip 'em off (not sure there's any actual way to stop that, even with using custom ROMs, etc, I have no idea).
If you do decide to keep one they'll attempt to charge the credit card the full price, and if that doesn't go through they'll then push lawyers on you so, I'm pretty sure they're covered.
Worse comes to worse they can simply push the IMEI to the national blacklist and the phone is dead regardless.
I mean, for a penny, if they're willing to ship me one I'd love to try one out for a time, can just slide my T-Mobile SIM in it and I'm good to go.
<least till this Sprint/T-Mobile and now SoftBank crap gets resolved 'cause if it happens you can be damned sure they're going to kill the $30/month plan so many of us love...>

They are all out now.
Although if you're willing to put the full price on a credit card (instead of only "paying a penny") you can still try one out for 14 days and return it free if you want.

I don't think you can return it if you buy it full price I think you can only exchange it for a different color option.
But anyway I was looking forward for this promotion as I can't stand my note 3 anymore because it's so laggy but when I woke up this morning all the codes were gone
If anyone has a spare one and willing to give it away for free I will gladly take it
Got a Royal Blue, White Front and Metallic accent ordered. I'm 50/50 right now on keeping it past 14 days once it gets here.
Just seems for the $400+ price it's a little steep
Got one to try out and possibly keep. White/Bamboo/Silver Accents & 64gb. Always liked the X and wanted one since last Fall.

I was able to return the X I bought during the black Friday promotion within 30 days (CA resident) with no penalty and free shipping. Maybe they've changed their policy since January.
Anyways, I ordered a blue/white/bamboo 32gb to try out. If the screen and camera are better than the one I had in December, I'll seriously consider keeping it. My nexus 4 has been struggling lately and I don't know if it'll make it to the X+1/Nexus 6(?) release in September.

damn.....
So for some reason Motorola sent me another code that expires today. Here it is:
TESTDRIVE-GIYB-NYR2-BKW3-DBPX
Expiration:**11:59pm ET, June 10, 2014
Is it worth getting a moto x so close to the release of the x+1?

Did you get an email saying it was on hold or did you proactively have to contact CS to learn this? You'd think they'd be capable of handling a huge influx of orders at this point.

Is the ATT Pure gone? I am looking to add a line to my plan, and cannot find them anywhere. ATT has them on the website, but only refurbs and only for new customers (free). Amazon has them online for new accounts and upgrades, but they don't do add a line transactions.
Am I missing something? Is there a replacement for this phone coming out? My wife likes the Tilt 2 that I just got, but thought the physical keyboard was not needed... that led me naturally to the Pure.
im existing and it shows up for me .
I spoke with AT&T this morning. The refurbs are only available to new customers due to limited supply. They also said that I could order it as a new customer and transfer it over to my existing family plan without any problem or cost.
The said that the phone is still listed as a available phone, but they have no stock and do not know if/when they will be getting them in. O'well. I guess it will be a refurb for me.
Read this thread from FEBRUARY: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=637163
I did order the phone. I was planning on doing the $100 HTC trade up rebate, but it is not good on refurb phone purchases. But since there was no actual cost to the phone no big deal. I get to keep the tilt as a spare. On my TP2 purchase last week, I am sending in a Treo that was collecting dust and getting my $100 rebate.
I don't care if the phone is old (which it is not really) or not selling well. It does what I want it to do. It has no real replacement, and definitely the right cost. I upgraded 2 smart phones and the total cost will be -$50. Not a bad deal at all.
2 Tilt 2's would have been o.k. but the wife did not want/need the physical keyboard. Plus I could see a day when we would grab the wrong phones on the way to work and then be screwed.
LetsTalk.com has them along with Wirefly.com. Both available under the add a line program. Cost depends on your timing, they run them NIB for free MOST of the time, but have seen them listed for about $50 US.

I did not see them there. The only HTC that came up for AT&T was the tilt 2. I do believe they are gone, (or going away quickly). Not to be selfish but, I got mine.... or at least it is coming.... since it is coming Us Postal Service, I have a great hope for it to show up on saturday.
I can see the problem. my wife on Wed said that she would prefer the one without the keyboard. Then after she found out that it might not be available, she was o.k. with going tilt 2 as an option instead. I can see that conversation occurring throughout the country. In this case however the tilt 2 (new) was $199 vs the Pure (refurb) at $0. I am pretty sure I made the right choice.

As of thursday morning AMAZON was the only one who had them. They wanted 0.01 for a new line and $80 for an upgrade.
Amazon does not do the add a line, and phones purchased though them cannot be combined with an existing family account (like you can with att's own phones) without a $250 penalty within the first 6 months. ATT tracks by device ID, as long as the device is activated, they don't care how. Amazon get their comission based on account number. If you do the new account option, then try to combine the accounts, you will lose the new account number and be fined.
If you did upgrade by the end of May, you could do the HTC trade up rebate if you have an old device to send in and get $100 back. Then the phone would be -$20...even free shipping.
They did say that stock levels were low for the pure.

Ebay had some friday.. got busy and didn't get a chance to come here and post on it. Some of those dealers offer add a line. It's gonna suck if I ever have to do a phone swap though and no one has new ones. I love my Pure the way it is now. The stock ROM bites but the Energy is rockin'. A friend had a refurbed phone from ATT and whenever it got hot here his screen would fog up from internal moisture.

I have had some good luck with refurbs, but of course there are some horror stories. In this case I am sure that the cost saving will be worth it. The way I am upgrading and shuffling phones around, it will leave me with 1 line with an upgrade option on it. This will give me a chance to be able to replace any phone that breaks out of warranty in the coming months. Keeps the insurance cost down to zero.
First thing you do with any phone you get, new or refurb is check the white patch under the battery to make sure it is NOT pink in any way. That is the indication that the phone has been wet.
I love my Pure. Actually since me buying mine, my good friend and also my father have made the jump too. Its a pretty good touchscreen phone that is feels just the right size. I hope you all are successful in your attempts to get your hands on one. We knew they were going to get pulled months ago because of the low sales (wtf). I guess most people prefer the TP2 (meh).

I just got it and after a long 40 minutes on the phone with at&t the did all the juggling on my account and got it working. (even got them to waive the activation fee).
So far so good. I am charging it now, so that I can flash it to the (same) energy rom that I have on my tilt 2.
The battery in the Pure was draining the website so they stopped selling it :|
I'm considering purchasing the Epic Touch 4G from a nearby Sprint corporate store in order to be able to try the phone out for 14 days. The logic behind this is that my upgrade period starts in a few weeks, and it is my understanding that customers are limited to one return of a device purchased as an upgrade. In order to avoid losing my one return via the upgrade, I'd rather use the time before to try out the ET4G. There are three devices I'm interested in - ET4G, iPhone5 and Nexus Prime - and the return limit means I can't try them all out.
What I'm wondering, though, will my return of the phone purchased tomorrow prevent me from potentially returning a different phone purchased as an upgrade?

So you want to purchase a phone at full price to try it out before returning it to use an upgrade to get a second phone, and then returning that second phone on the upgrade to get a third?

that's certainly possible. a lot depends on how much I like the ET4G - I could decide I like it enough that once my upgrade kicks in, I'll just get that one and stick with it. but I'd like to know that I could try out multiple phones if I wanted to.
You could probably do that, but you would be royally ****ing the numbers of that store, especially the salesperson who sold the first one, which isn't fair to them. 2 returns means they would have to sell about two dozen phones without any more returns to get back to even on their goals. I would suggest buying the et4g used and trying it that way. Or you could buy it from telesales or sprint.com and return it in store. Just keep in mind the restocking fee. The only way around it is to return to your original device on or before the third day of use, which includes the day you buy it.

ah ok, fair enough. I don't have a problem with paying the restocking fee, but I don't want to screw over the in-store salesperson. It's no both to me to order via telesales, so if you think that's the soundest approach, I'll just do that. Being able to return it to a corporate store at least means I can maximize the number of days I'll be able to test it out.

My math might be off because im not really trying to be exact, but if an rc wants to maintain a return exchange rate of less than 8% they can have one return or exchange for every 12 handsets sold. If they do 2 exchanges for a customer, it only gets worse. We had a lady swap 5 times over the summer and just murder one guy's numbers. Depends on how busy the store is ultimately. If the rep normally sells lots of handsets it wont matter too much. But a return from telesales or dotcom doesnt affect an individual salesperson. Hence why i suggested it. Just trying to remind everyone that reps are people too. You wouldnt want your boss to ride you all month because you exchanged 2 handsets for a guy I'm sure. That said, if your rep is a moron or a ****, who cares? Sprint would b better off without them anyway.

Sorry my response took so long. I forgot about this thread.
We do not have goals for return percentages at our stores, just for the net new activations and upgrades at the end of the month. Obviously we want to get people into the right phone the first time, but there are so many people that want to try different phones before deciding that it really isn't fair to punish the salesperson when the customer is the one causing us a problem. We do have a limit of 1 customer satisfaction swap per activation/upgrade that helps us limit frivolous swaps.
Of course, our stores are not corporate stores, but we are a platinum level preferred sprint dealer.
Why not wait for all phones to come out & test them at the store then pick the one you like play with at home & if you don't like it bring it back for one you want you got 14days to return it!

I was wondering why they hate me at the Sprint store. I was eligible so I went in and got a Epic Touch. I HATED how it felt in my hand. If I'm holding something larger than my hand then it better have a nipple on it. Anyway, I figured I could get used to it but the LOS killed my love of this beautiful device. I returned it for a Photon. About the same size as the Epic. A little lighter and bigger screen. Great radio and battery but the core apps (Email/Contacts/Calendar) all suck IMO. Returned that too. Salesrep barely talked to me. Now I know why.
I really wish they had a phone lounge where their longtime customers could sit down with a real phone with service and not tethered just so we can take it thru its paces.
FYI: I am back on my Epic. Poor radio, short battery but great phone.
(With Swype I never use the keyboard though)
Why not just spend the extra time researching on XDA, then go to a Sprint store to play with it for a few hours to see whether you will like it or not. IMHO spending the time to set up your phone, activation etc etc, driving to the store aren't worth the hassle if you are already considering returning it.

30 minutes to have a phone at home for 2 weeks vs. spending "a few hours" in a Sprint store? I think I'll take the former.
anyway, it's pretty safe to say the iPhone is off this list since it's completely pointless. I like the ET4G a lot but the bottom line is that Sprint can't deliver service on a level that would really support these devices let alone justify the expense of a new phone. I think I'll just stick with my Epic.
my advice is to go to nebraska furniture mart they discount the rebate at the register and you wind up paying alot less
I upgraded both lines within my family plan in February. Got the black GS2 for me, the white for my wife. Long story short, they had to send three phones because they got the color wrong.
I sent the wrong phone back (was charged full value) and worked with customer service to have this removed and my account credited. At some point, something got changed on my account as I now show that I am full upgrade eligible according to the TMO website.
Would definitely like to get one of the new beasts on the horizon, especially if I have an upgrade now instead of 2013.
My question is, if I use this "upgrade" do you think they will catch the mistake and charge me full value for the new phone at a later date?
I don't think they will catch you. T-Mobile has a bunch of stuff going on and have so many customers that that person you talked to doesn't even care anymore.
Doubt they catch you and you can always argue that you had were in fact eligible for an upgrade

i dont think they will catch you. they screwed up on my account also. i changed my number and after i did that it said i was able to upgrade with a full 2 year discount and i knew mine wasnt due till 2013 (with my old number) so i went and bought my black gs2 at newegg and it said carrier approved and they sent me my phone lol.. only paid 219 out the door. lol
Yeah, got my GS2 at a kick-ass price. Paid just $137 from the retention department and they gave me a buy one get one free deal. Hard to beat 2 phones for $137.
Sweet. Got my eye on either the GS3 or HTC One-S. I will just keep my GS2 for modding and deving.
Hopefully the next Nexus will come back to T-Mo. If it does, I may just hold out for it.

nice, so im assuming it was like $120 or something then plus tax?
sounds about right, i read up on others getting credit back too lol.
But yeah, just remember that everything they do to your account is noted somewhere in your account. However it is highly doubtful that they actually look WHEN your last upgrade was and such. It is more likely that they just click upgrade or whatever and see if you're eligible. Because... why the hell are they gonna make a system where they make the reps backtrack the date and calculate when you're eligible? lol
I ordered a Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (i9220) from 1saleaday.com on 03/15/12, and finally received the shipment yesterday (03/28/12). When I opened the shipping container, I discovered an unsealed Galaxy Note box (These were sold as BNIB) that contained all of the accessories, but no Galaxy Note. I have been in constant contact with them the last two days, at which point they tried to persuade me into purchasing today's deal on the Note, at which point they would refund my money and cancel my previous order. Unwilling to do this, because I am already out $584, and was not prepared to throw good money after bad to a company that does not even have a customer service phone number, I was finally informed at the end of their business day today (4:30 PM EDT) that I would NOT be receiving a refund, after all. You see, apparently I am not alone in this, and rather than them take care of the customers who have already tied money up in their shady venture, they now want to do an "investigation" into how widespread this may be. I signed a sworn affidavit attesting to the fact that I did not receive the phone, just the box and accessories, yet they still refuse to refund my money or send me the phone. I do not believe they do this to everyone, but I think they selectively choose random customers here and there when they think they can get away with committing fraud. So, consider this a heads up that doing business with these losers can leave you without the item you paid for or the money you used to pay for it.
I have bought quite a number of items from 1Saleaday and received everything in order including a BNIB HTC View 4G. Just file a dispute or charge back from your Credit Card. Hope you get your money/phone asap.
I have gotten a tentative refund from my credit card company, but this could easily devolve into a "he said, she said" mess, which I want to avoid. What I do not want to avoid is publicly defecating on their business name, which I am in the process of doing across the internet.
I bought a motorola Atrix lapdock from them a couple of week ago. Finally got it 3 and1/2 Weeks later. It was a b#$&h trying to communicate with them. It was only $55 but I was that close to calling my credit card company and filling a claim to get my money back. that's the first and last time I'm buying anything from 1 sale. Might be a good idea to call your credit card up and see what your options are.

Exactly. I'm no fan of 1Sale either, but they can't just issue such a large refund immediately. If I were in charge, I'd want to investigate this claim as well.
Their internal investigation is of no consequence to me. They asked me to just sign an affidavit so they could issue the refund, I did so, and the minute I told them I was not interested in buying today's special, they changed their tune. Either state that I am getting it, dependent on some conditions, or tell me they need to look into the matter further.

+1 for sure, I always set up my tripod and camera before I open the package, even if I'm super excited to get it. I've gotten a box of CD's and a few rocks instead of an XBOX on Ebay. I'll never make that mistake again.
I had an interesting experience with them as well when I was in the market for a 2nd computer to do some dev work on. Received the computer that I purchased from them and it had a bad power supply. Argued with them and it took 3 weeks after receiving the computer for them to issue me an RA and return shipping label, then another 3 weeks to get my refund.
I ordered 3 htc Evo views from them all came flawless. Also ordered 32gb cards a bunch of other things from then with no issues. Hope everything works out in your favor...

I've dealt with 1saleaday on numerous occasions. They may be slow about sending stuff, but I've always received what I ordered. Willing to be they've got someone nefarious in their warehouse/shipping partner chain. Hope it all works out for you!

Thank God !
Well I got my GNEX today !
And its all good.
but while packing the rest of the stuff back in the box, i thought of
something. I think its not THOSE websites they are screwing people.
But their packaging department people probably trying to get away
with some stuff if they could, while packing.
Any way, I thank God that so far I have bought a lot of stuff from
these websites and never had any problem.

This thread should be locked. The merchant is very reputable and who tells us you didnt just tale the device sell it in the blackmarket. Ive never had problems with them and they dont care about stealing a $550 device+they have sold almost 1000galaxy notes nobody has complained

Return it and get another one. Or, if they have good service, they'll refund you the $150.
Sweet deal.
Does the 14 day return policy go into effect when you receive the phone or when you order/they ship the phone? I wonder if a lot of the 11/11 orders might be able to squeak in a return/price match if the former.
I'm hoping that will happen for me. I talked to them and they say there are going to get back to me. I also sent them an email.
Oh man. I am in on this.
Now I just need to decide which one to get.
Currently using 8.9 GB on my HTC One and the 16 GB Moto X only comes with 11.9 free, so that would leave me with 3 GB Free. Hmm. Probably need to get the 32 GB. Damn.
Then it's Dev Edition vs custom T-Mo. I like the black front because it blends with the screen. Not so sure about the woven white back of the Dev Edition though. It's one of the more slippery backs if I recall. The woven black feels nicer in hand I would guess since it's softer.

I doubt they will have a price match for a one day, limited stock sale.

I called they wouldn't refund the $150 but offered me $50 in accessories which I don't need so they gave me a $50 Visa gift card instead. Best I could do without having to go through the hassle of returning the phone and ordering another one and waiting a week or two for it to be delivered.

Yep that's the reason I was given for not refunded my money. I ordered a week ago and just got it Monday. I got 18 months same as cash financing through Motorola so not too disappointed as I kind of expected it.
Well, unnecessary hassle for me. Looks like my current one will be going back one I get a replacement that I buy on Monday...

Wow. I ordered on the 8th and it was delayed and shipped on the 12th. I can't believe that the delay may end up saving me $150 (grand total of $250). On the phone with a CSR right now and hoping for the best.

If you buy another phone on Monday and return the old one for a refund its a 4-6 week wait for a refund. Also from experience you have to have ALL the packaging the old one came in. I keep everything in the box, plastic bags, rubber bands, etc., just in case of getting hassled on this.

I ordered on the 19th and it shipped on the 23rd and best I could get was a $50 gift card. Let me know how you fair as if you get a better deal I will have to call back.

My return for refund has been processed. They are sending me a return label via email and I'll ship it out tomorrow. Luckily, I kept all the packaging, plastic, charger etc in the office so it's just a matter of factory resetting and sending it back.
So I have been dead set on getting this phone to replace my aging HTC Rezound even though its running KitKat pretty damn well. I have been holding out for the wood backs but they seem to be no where in sight and this is too good of a discount to pass on especially when its priced the same as the N5. So my question is should I get a Verizon MotoMaker 32GB version of the Developer Edition (just in case the dev community picks up)?

I wanted to return it out of principle but then the hassle of waiting up to another 2 weeks for a phone doesn't sit well with me. After having to pay to ship it back and they then deduct the original shipping charges out of the refund I'd only save about $130 so with the $50 gift card I'm only out $80.

On one hand, the phone is really amazing stock. You would lose the features that make the Moto X so good by flashing custom roms. On the other hand, there isn't much development on the Moto X and root for future builds/releases may not come. With the Dev edition you'll never have to worry about root (recoveries may be another story).
I'll, most likely, get another Dev edition.

I would go with the dev edition, which I have, just because it comes with an unlockable boot loader out of the box. It's pretty much the closest thing to a Nexus you'll get without buying one and for $400 its a steal. I love this phone too, a lot more than my Nexus 4 but the battery life is about the same. Its a little slippery though as the white back on the dev edition isn't rubberized.

Yea I've never been a huge fan of white phones as I feel they'll start showing their dirtyness after being heavily used for an extended period. Also I heard those woven backs are slippery. I could get a super thin case and see if that helps at all. Right now I only see the need too root to get free tethering, ad-free apps and PIE controls via xposed
Decisions, decisions. I ordered on the 18th and received it on the 21st. I wonder if I should return and get another on Monday. Questions will I be able to get another at $350, says supplies are limited.
I got the Navy with Black front and silver accents, I wish the blue was a little lighter so if I reordered I could maybe go with the Royal Blue. I really like the yellow back, but worry about it staining in my pocket (i,e. wearing blue jeans).
