Hi!
I would like to install the custom ROMs, but I don't know how to unlock the bootloader and install ClockWordMod after installing original 4.1.2. I've read some topics about unlocking the bootloader, but the informations which are written aren't understandable. So must I use dd or can I use adb?
no problem

Sorry if this is simple but having not looked into this until just now the answer seems to have fallen into "lore" status and, even after reading a bunch, I haven't found a clear answer. So...
1) Do you have to unlock the bootloader to root?
2) If the answer to Q1 is no, then what is the benefit of unlocking the bootloader? Is it be able to flash new roms, a different recovery, both or additional?
3) Can I simply run rooted stock without flashing a new rom? (Pretty sure the answer to this one is yes)
Thanks for the help!!

Best way is to flash the full new rom (4.3 probably) in fastboot, reroot, restore apps with Titanium Backup and you`re done. Flashing a full rom is better than updating an excisting one imo. Link for how to flash stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312.

You can be on stock with no mods unlocked rooted with a custom recovery and you will get the ota update and it will install fine.
The ota update link will be posted here before you get on your device so it's good to have a custom recovery so you can just flash it and it will also protect you from losing root or custom recovery

Hello everybody!
I am from Argentina, sorry for my bad english!
I have a Nexus 4. The phone had never a modification...
I want get root access in the phone, i understand that i have to unlock the bootloader but...
if i install CM (following the easy steps of the website get.cm), this process may unlock the bootloader automatically? And could give me root access?
And another question:
if i install CM (following the easy steps of the website get.cm)...
Can i then flash the phone with "franco.kernel" to get USB OTG?
Thanks and very sorry for my bad english!

You need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash a custom rom. But it's easy! Here is a guide (including how to root):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/guide-ultimate-nexus-4-root-guide-t2018179
About Franco Kernel... Franco's is AOSP based, CM is CAF. It may work, but with wrong colours (or it may cause bootloops). Look for a CM/CAF basedkernel with usb-otg support in the Development forum, or take a look at this thread:

Hello meatboy371, thanks for your answer...
So, does the installation program of CM does not unlock the bootloader? I have to do it manually?
Look this (is a website):
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/CyanogenMod_Installer
Do I need to root my phone before installing?
No. You can have a rooted phone, or not. The installer doesn't care. However, to be in a supported configuration, you need to be running a stock ROM.
Do I need to unlock my bootloader first?
No, you don't. If your bootloader is locked, we'll unlock it for you.
So, can i install CM in my phone without any modifications?
And then, will the bootloader unlock automatically?
Thanks and sorry for my english!

The installer from Cyanogen WILL unlock your bootloader and root your N4 automatically, you don't need any third party app or doing it manually, I did it on my N4 when i got it and everything went fine BUT the process will erase everything on your phone, so be aware of what your doing.

I didn't know that CM installer unlocks the bootloader (i used to flash CM roms from recovery), thanks for the info.
About the kernel, you'll need to find a CM version of Franco's to work with CM roms, like I said before (look at development forum).
About the recovery, I don't know, but if it isn't changed by the CM installer, you can easily flash using fastboot. You can try TWRP, CMW or PhilZ, there are threads for those with step-by-step guides to flash.
Thanks meatboy371!!!
Thanks blusydays!!!
SOLVED!

There's no fix to unlock bootloader problems
Return to stock or use AOSP 5.0.2 with locked bootloader.

AOSP doesn't requires changes in kernel
Since we have a kernel made from ASUS for 4.3, 4.4 and 5.0, any AOSP ROM from these Android version will work with stock kernel and locked bootloader.

You can install AOSP from fastboot, since it's an img file. But you have to unlock bootloader to install GApps via TWRP.
After flash all you need, you can flash stock recovery back and lock the bootloader.

Hello. I'm new to Android and all of this rooting and stuff but I want to try out flashing a custom ROM but I don't know how. Do you need to be rooted? I know about custom recoveries and stuff but I need to know exactly how.
EDIT: My model number is WAS-LO3T
My build number is WAS-LO3TC654B198
EDIT 2: I watched the One Click Root video. Is it safe? Is kingroot safe?

How to root link below (includes unlocking the bootloader). Follow the steps very carefully as this is your first time rooting. I am not to blame nor anyone here on xda if you end up with a bricked phone. If you use android pay this will no longer work, some bank apps will not work either FYI due to root.
At present there is only one custom rom available however this is not specifically made for our device but for the p8 lite. When I flashed it about a month ago there are some bugs still like camera not working. Hopefully some talented people will buy our device and develope a custom rom for us.
