[Q] nexus4 4.4.3 update charging issue - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello smart people... So I updated my nexus 4 to the 4.3.3 version and now it just won't charge... It has been connected to the wall charger for 6 hours and still 34%... Please help!!! Also I have absolutely no tech knowledge... So easy instructions please???

It doesn't make sense that the update would cause the phone not to charge. If try a different charger or a pc. See if it'll charge then. If it still doesn't then I'd try reflashing the factory image

Slow battery charge on one week old device

Hi,
My phone needs about 8-9 our or so to charge completely. In the beginning (5 days ago) it took something like 2 hours. I am only using the original charger with about 2 amperes output.
May this be a software problem? I havent rooted my phone (yet) but I wonder if a reset will help or if this most probably is a hardware issue.

Almost sounds like a weak cable connection.

Hi, if you are charging from a computer this is still slow but not impossible. If it takes this long from a power point I think you should get your phone checked. Also doing a reset will not do anything

If u didn't have problem so it might be some bad configuration of save power (If u tried to do sth with it)
anyway first just restart phone
then flash another ROM with Odin (it will remain ur data) / And also check kernel and compare date of ur kernel with others if thr s different try to update with kies and if no update available Flash kernel
THEN if ur problem appear again try reset factory (u will lose all ur data)
:good:
Thank you, I'll just have to get it checked. Incredibly annoying after just one week of use on such a product.

Flashing Stock Rom or stock kernel doesn't mean root and not void ur warranty
Are you charging it through USB on your PC? If so, try connecting the cable to a USB 3.0 port if you have one (properly configured with all drivers installed). If you're charging it with AC power, try with a different cable (as suggested) or a different charger (the S4s charger is quite powerful, 2 amps).
Did you try checking do you happen to have some app running while it's charging? If you have an app that is drawing power while operating, it can slow down the charging process.
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Nexus 7 Issues

It's weird, it only charges when It's off. But, when on it acts like It's not connected to the charger. I've tried factory resetting. It also won't connect to my computer, simply because it won't charge. I've searched here and I haven't seen a problem like it. I can still charge it when It's off.

Hi ,
Do you charge it by OEM charging cable ? If so , you should use another cable and try charging by new one.Unfortunately , the OEM cable has problem with charging the device.
More info please. Are you rooted? What ROM/Kernel? Did you make any changes lately? When was the last time it worked right?

Extremely slow charging

Hi guys. I'm currently facing a huge problem which is very very slow charging rate. Last time it charged slowly and i tighten the usb port on the n7, thank God the problem solved. But now, even if i did that, it won't solve the problem. Now it took me more than 12 hours to charge from 5% to 95%. Please guys, help me. I couldn't wait for that long to fully charged. Is there anyway make it fast charging? My N7 just 10 months old and i am not so heavy user. thanks in advance.

are you using the charger that came with Nexus 7?
If so, try with some other charger and even if that didnt help, then there's some problem with the battery.
In case you had changed the charger, it will be slow as the output voltage of Nexus 7 charger is high compared to that of other devices.
What is the voltage output of the chargerv

the words on the charger fade away. i think is 2.0A..
just chiming in here , i have noticed my nexus takes longer to charge and run out faster since 4.3
lets hope kitkat actually bring fixes not problems, jb was a great update n all but the amount of problems device spread was silly for an official. google really needs to start sourcing employees from xda

[Q] RED light of death? or battery

Ok so yesterday I had my nexus 4 in the charger at 46 percent and i was about to send a tweet when the screen froze. thinking it was a simple crash i pressed the home button and no visual response then it powered off. now whenever i try to power it on nothing happens. i tried pressing the power and volume buttons. whenever i try to turn it on and i plug it in the red light flashes. sometimes it flashes continiously sometimes it is a solid color. so what can i do it wont communicate with the computer. im not sure what the issue is. is it a battery issue or is it impossibly bricked. i already charged it overnight to no avail.
oh and im running stock cm11 with the stock cm kernel. i just installed it the night before.
It isn't bricked it's a battery issue.
Leave it in your computer or car charger for a few hours at least.
If still nothing report back.
Good luck!

Charging with the wall charger I guess? There have been reports of various members here on XDA that got their N4 running again after the RLOD issue by charging it with a car charger or with their computer.
Anyway, there are tutorials on YT how to take your N4 apart and fix the RLOD issue. There is also one on the Nexus 4 General section(can't post a link right now). Go to the N4 general section here on XDA, then it must be somewhere on the first page.
Good luck and let me know if you fixed it.

LONG time to charge

Recently, my phone has been taking a long time to charge. I am using the stock charger, but it is the same with every charger. It takes 10 hours to charge from zero to one hundred percent. I even lose battery sometimes while plugged in. A factory reset DID NOT help, neither did wiping the cache. What can I do? I need this phone.

Check what amperage your phone is being charged at... Google play store has an app called galaxy charging current lite. It'll tell you how much charge is going in.
The max a kitkat charge while screen is on is 1200mAh. While off it can reach 1900mAh. Pre-kitkat can do 1900mAh with screen on but it gets hot.
If your phone is charging only at 1000 or below, you may need to try a diff charger or a diff cable.
You probably have counterfeit charger. It could also be battery problem, I recommend replacing battery or getting new charger. Good luck.

Sounds like a dirty or malfunctioning micro usb issue to me. Try using a tooth pick or a piece of paper to clean out your micro usb slot. Hopefully it's just dirty and not malfunctioning.

I don't recommend this until you've checked with new battrry, charger, and cable. You can risk damaging the sensitive USB port on your phone and if that happens, the cost of repair is significantly higher.
