so ever snice i flashed my hero to damage 2.1 rom my awake time is always so high. its always only about 10 minutes BELOW he uptime. therefore, KILLING my battery life. =(
I've been running DC off and on for almost a month now and have had excellent battery life. My awake times fluctuate (right now I'm at 13:30 Up time and 8:37 Awake time) but it hasn't been crazy.
Just curious, what is considered a "good" awake time/up time ratio? Are there better numbers on any of the other ROMs?
before if flashed it. lets say my uptime would be 50 minutes. my awake time would prob only be 2 minutes if i didnt use my phone at all. but now that i flashed it, my uptime would be 50 minutes and my awake time will prob like 40 minutes.
The current Damage Control ROM is bugged and has an extremely strange wake lock issue. I'd suggest using Fresh ROM 2.0d until this is fixed.
is the freshrom 2.0 just like damagecontrol ? i mean i LOVE evertying about DC. i wouldnt want something so different.

it shouldnt be totally different, but even if it isn't it works...or you could live with your battery life.
I don't think it's the ROM. I am running DC 2.7.02 and right now my up time is 21:45 while my awake time is 2:48.
My battery life has been fantastic. Have you tried looking at various radios?

yea after a search...weird i didnt think it worked...i found that this complaint is on almost every rom by at least one person. There are quite a few fixes. biggest one is disabling stock messaging app if used and using handcent or chomp.
Also you can go to settings, about phone, battery, and see what is using the battery.
This isnt for you dooj just quoted on your statement.

I had that happen recently to a friend. Try just doing a factory reset.
Settings -> privacy -> factory reset.
Your phone will still remain rooted and the rom will still remain too.
This fixed it for him.

also go to menu, applications, running services, and see whats running and how long. stop the ones you dont use that have been running the entire time your phone was awake.

If you want to remove it, then at the windows command prompt assuming you have your SDK tools path set up correctly:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm [messaging app].apk
I dont know what the name of the messaging app is, but I think it might be Mms.apk You are at your own risk if that removes the wrong app.
You dont have to tecnically remove it. Just disable auto retrieve and notifications in that app.

I have been running the stock messaging with no problems.

As for the current Damage Control ROM having a wake-lock issue, what IS the latest version? I am running v2.07.2 (the one before the TrevE mod) and I have no wake-lock, random reboots, or time without signal.
I have not found it to be the rom that is keeping things awake technically. I have tried to figure this one out, and all I can say it seems to be tied to some apps that I have downloaded that starts to throw the awake issue off.
This has happened to me on all 2.1 roms.......after a couple weeks of downloading some apps.
I only use root explorer and mixzing for now and have not had a problem with just those two.
I think I even confirmed that Pac-man was keeping the phone awake, although this is probably not the only one.
anyway, hope it helps.
My sister has a Nexus S 4g that she purchased used from Cowboom. Within the past 2 days the phone has started to freeze up when she attempts to turn it on with a dimmed screen. She ends up having to pull the battery to get it to reboot. She also woke up to a dead battery today after having the battery at 90% last night (I am assuming this is caused by the same issue).
Any ideas as to what might be going on, or any recommendations to try to fix it? She is on the last day of the cowboom 30 day return policy, so she is trying to figure out what to do.
maybe she has some problem with cpu clock or voltage at wakelock.

What's the best way to diagnose that?
happened to me with cyanogen 7.1 and default clock and voltage.
try to install antutu cpu master and cpu voltage and make some try.
or change kernel for example air kernel or matr1x

I would really rather not flash it with a different kernel, or change the cpu settings. The device is stock, and as I am not the one with the device, I would rather leave it that way. Is this a bug with stock ICS or something? Or does it sound like it is caused by the phone?
is difficult that can be a ICS bug.
if you are not sure and you don't wont do some attempt to fix it, send it back...

My sister just did an online chat with them, and they are sending her a different device. Unfortunately she has to send her device back first though, so she will be without a phone for a few days.
Since she only has a week to return it, it would be hard to verify that whatever I do actually fixed the phone in that time.
Hey guys.
there are several major problems with my device.
first of all, lets see what we have here.
Exynos powered SM-N900 note 3 device
About 2 months old
rooted with CF- Auto Root
4.4.2 N900XXUDNA6_N900SERDNA6_SER firmware
that was the situation of device when the first problem showed itself.
Whiel i was watching video from an sd card, suddenly ı realised even if the device is on charge, (wall type) the battery percentage was dropping. when ı saw that, ı stopped watching the video, put down the phone and went to sleep. (it was 15 % at that time)
after 8 hours of proper sleep, I took my phone and saw that it was just 60%.
then ı began searching for slow charging issues. tried exactly everything about it, no luck. ( 5 different brands of different cables, 3 different brands of wall chargers, 2 different original note 3 batteries. tried both for AC and USB charging.)
All of them gave me the same result of charging current of 300 mah.
then ı tried all the wipe options, (wipe from recovery, factory reset from the settings menu, flashing another firmware which is CAC-N900XXUDNA8-20140210150816. ) still no luck. and things started to get worse.
a pain in the ass lag showed up, I'cant even use the camera. its like it comes and goes, but most of the time its there.
slow charging still continues, sometimes it does not charge at all,(had to reset couple of times) and when it charges, it's always 300 Mah and shows in the battery section as USB all the time ( even if I'm charging with the wall charger) ( already tried cache wipe for this, didn't make any difference.)
When I plug it to the PC, it does not recognize the device as a usb device, nor Kies, but ODİN does. (thankfully).
got this really weird screen, and some other screens close to it. (the screen actually faded away like in the picture ı uploaded. waited for it to go out for 10-15 seconds when ı pushed the wake button, the screen came itself just like nothing else happened 10 seconds ago!)
those are my problems, and the device is rooted, there is no warranty issue, so that means I'm stuck. it's not my first android device, and i consider myself just above average android user, but my hands are tied for this. any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!!
Really? No one can answer that?

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I tried that. It kind of shortens the time of charging, but still, there are also other problems and some way ı think all of them are connected. That can be a solution only for slow charging, but the other issues still there.

I'm afraid that is also not a solution, because i already performed a full wipe and flashed a clean firmware, which cleared all 3rd party apps, still problems go on.
appreciate the effort though!

are you suggesting EFS back-up /restore?
By the way, i have fresh brand new issues!!
now device doesn't close, if i close it and connect it to a charger, it reboots itself to recovery mode!!!
ı discovered something about the lag issue. if i run the cpu enough, (like playing games) lag goes out. when ı quit the game, it turns back!!
I opened up cpu monitor from the developer options, everytime lag shows up, i see from the cpu list this thing:
irq/563-sii8240
I think this causes all of my problems.
any ideas???

Have you installed any apps to monitor battery drain? I use GSAM Battery Monitor and every time I start to see weird things with my battery, I have a look to see which app is running wild. Removing the app usually sets my phone back to very good battery life. The other day HD Widgets updated their app and all of a sudden I was dropping battery life about 15% per hour when hardly using the phone. HD was the culprit, removing it put me back to normal again. This happens often when companies update their apps.
One other thing, does you phone run hot? In the notification screen, you can see the current temp of your phone. If your battery is draining fast, it will run hot.
Thank you for the feedback. I downloaded the app, here are my first results. Do you think its normal that my kernel alone 74% ? I recently turned into cvm recovery, any ideas for alternative kernels?

Most probably your battery has gone kaputt.
Get a new on/replace/borrow for a day and try if this happens again.
Edit: WAIT WHAT!! PHONE IN THE FREEZER? DUDE!!
Also
Use "kernel tuner *root*" from the playstore and underclock your CPU.
Check and Monitor the CPU and Battery temperatures too.

Does it get hot right? That is where it snaps to avoid certain things.
Underclock your CPU using kernel tuner *root* and switch 2 cores off. (There are toggles in the app to switch cpus off)

Unfortunately the problem is not the battery and the smartphone will not start unless I put it in a cool place, and it works for 1 minute maximum 2. It is impossible to install anything. Do not even start the animation of the battery charge.
Hi guys, it's the second time when my phone drain the battery overnight, it's happened to you? Wich maybe the cause?
Hello,
Same here, it appened 3 times.. I went to sleep with 70% and at wake up no battery.. Today i've not used my phone between 3 hours, it was at 78% i just verify right now if a have notification and i see than the battery is at 48%. It's very strange.. phone is very hot, all apps cleared..
After I have wrote this problem my phone is stuck and I need to restarted,is very hot, cache memory is clean,no apps in background....why? maybe the new miui solve this problem?
I had this problem one time.. It was so hot, black screen, after 5min on "power" button the phone have restarted and stay on the Mi logo during 20minutes.. Can't help you.. I've see than we aren't alone with this problem but don't know how to resolve

Your phone isn't entering in to deepsleep
I would say it isn't an OS fault, but it is an app that you are installed that is doing it.
I'm positive even that this is the issue.
Now, do you have root to use a Wakelock monitor?
No,I have not Root,I will install and try to figure out the app guilty for this thx ,this answer help us

I guess playstore os Chrome is doing it.
DRM isn't something from Android but an app that access it
Do you watch google play videos?
Perhaps you can try to set back the theme to the original theme. I have done mine and the draining stopped. If I use any custom theme, suddenly the phone will get hot and then drain battery like hell.
I've reverted to original theme and so far there's no issue apart from sometimes the phone suddenly hang and have to do a reboot.
