Getting rid of carrier splash screen - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks.
Just a quick question. I'm picking up a S5 tomorrow (GM-900F) which has been on Three network (UK) but it's unlocked. It still has the Three splash screen on start up and I'm wondering if there is anyway to get shot of that and change it to either Vodafone or just the bog standard Samsung one?
Cheers folks!

Flash btu firmware that's what I did

Three UK ME2 - Anyone report any issues ?

I unbranded my three uk s4 to BTU and have MDM on my handset at present
Whilst this is smoother than the original three uk firmware it appears there is no sign of E2 for unlocked UK Handsets as Samsung report via twitter
@SamsungmobileUK
Hi Chris, sorry for the delay. We don't have any details on this at the moment but when we do we'll announce it
So the option im considering is reverting back to three firmware and changing my CSD again
Question to all you three users out there is there any issues with the firmware ?
Does it make the S4 smooth ?
I think its a joke that carriers release firmware before unbranded (yes I know I had a carrier handset which ive debranded and unlocked)
but don't want to flash three's firmware if there will be problems or the lag wont disappear
Thanks in advance
Anyone please ?

[Q] Flashing stock UK firmware

Hi all,
I do apologise if this has been covered before - I did have a quick search first. Anyway, I got my Note 3 today on '3' and absolutely love it. Already my S3 looks tiny. As predicted though, it has a few bloat apps and the boot menu is a '3' one rather than the default Samsung one.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to flashing the standard unlocked UK firmware and how to go about it? I've had the S, S2 and S3 before so flashing using ODIN is nothing new but this is my first note.
Thanks for any help! :good:
Edit: Phone at the moment is on:
Baseband - N9005XXUBM16
Build Number - JSS15J.N9005XXUBM17

Option for region locked devices

Hi recently bought the S3 which turned out to be one of the European models with the sticker on it. I am using it in Germany for a while where it works fine but will be taking it to South Africa soon. I will report back on what happens
In the mean time: what options do we have to remove the lock?
- does the region lock away app for the note work on the I9300?
- does flashing a custom rom help?
- does flashing an international official firmware help?
Please share experiences and findings here.
According to Samsung after about half an hour of using it in the correct region the lock *should* be disabled. If not chainfire made an app if you have root to disable it, it works on the Note 3, not sure if it works on the S3.

You could try the firmware from here: http://www.samdownloads.de/downloads/sm-t335/
Edit: by the way, you flash with odin as known from your S3 and it´s the version with DBT...
I'm downloading the DBT firmware now with 30kB/s. in 7h is finished
What i wanted to know was if anyone did this already. I dont want to be the first one and run into big problems and kill my Tab that just arrived.
I seriously doubt anyone has done this. What are you trying to achieve?

i want to get rid of that ugly white boot- and shutdown animation from t-mobile. The t-mobile bloat apps can be uninstalled. Thats good . T-mobile is not my provider so the apps are useless.
I did it just yesterday (got a German 8.0 LTE from T-Mobile) and it worked like a charme using a guide, I cant post links because my account is too new, but you can copy and paste the one below:
Code:
true-android.blogspot.com/2014/05/t335xxu1andd-android-442-kk-firmware.html
After that I used to Towelroot to root the device.

If all you want to do is get rid of the boot and shut down animations just delete or replace them in /system/media/

After flash i did a factory reset and wipe cache. Whats going wrong now??
frailtyy. can you look what csc your kies or recovery shows?
Edit:
thats strange but problem solved. After 1 or 2 new reboots (or one time entering download mode) i have DBT overall

Flashing an unbranded firmware on a carrier-locked phone ??

So I was wondering if this is possible. My phone (A510F running lollipop 5.1.1) is locked to a carrier but I was planing on flashing an unbranded 6.0.1 (from Italy). Marshmallow will eventually come to my country but I just can`t wait anymore. Will flashing this firmware brick anything ?? I am well aware that the phone will remain locked to my carrier, since the lock has to do with the phone`s imei number, but is anything else going to be affected ? Anyone had a similar experience ? Your answers are really appreciated.
Bad idea, never flash unbranded firmware on a locked phone as it leads to all sorts of problems. Get turn phone unlocked first and then u can flash any firmware.

why would you ask Note 4 questions in A Series threads when the Note 4 threads are at least 10x more active? Besides, no one will know the answer here anyway.
