Hi all
I have a Samsung Galaxy mini (S5570L) and I'm trying to edit Phone.apk, I wanna replace the unknown caller picture for the stock android picture, I already managed to do that but I have 2 questions:
1) When I try to replace Phone.apk with the one I edited the phone starts vibrating uncontrollably and I can't seem to be able to do pretty much anything, is there any special treatment when editing system APKs??
2) The stock Samsung ROM is odexed so I know editing and replacing the APK isn't as simple as it sounds, what else do I need to do after zipping the APK in APK Manager??

P.S.: This is a wild idea but is there a way to change the TouchWiz Phone.apk for the stock Froyo Phone.apk??

To 2.
It causes issues if u have some odexed and one deodexed apk so u should deodex all apks.
1. Do a logcat to find out what's wrong .
Did u push the file via adb?
And u should sign the apk ...

Thanx man, turns out I needed to deodex the APK before editing (which I didn't know).
I've got another question, since I'm using a stock Samsung ROM should I deodex all the system and framework apps?? 'Cause that sounds like a huge amount of work

Try dsixdas kitchen which can deodexe all apks of ur Rom.deodexing makes the Rom faster.

i am having stock rom
i want to know how to change the stock phone.apk, contact.apk and mms.apk to new one
i had tried root explorer but was not able to change it :crying:

If you want change and customize file on your phone, have to Root and deodexed file system on your phone, search about deodexed on forum, someone have to share whats that

Push new ones with root explorer into system and set permissions to r-w-r-r , reboot !

i did like that now am able to change mms.apk
but phone icon and contact icon is missing
and saying com.phone.... has stopped working
i changed permission as u said and thn rebooted still the same prblm

just keep practicing,
also use other references like google and searching because u can't really expect much help when modifying things because basic knowledge in theming is aquired and not taught,
backtrack on what you did maybe you did something wrong,

Not sure who all has seen this, but you can now fully modify your stock rom to almost anything you'd like. Per app DPI, no ascending ringer, themeing...unlimited possiblities. I wanted to create a thead for us to discuss settings and features and leave the original thread open for dev discussion.

I have per app dpi working on messenger, gmail, and email at 220. For some reason I can't get tablet mode to work but I'm sure that will be fixed soon. Post any comments or questions here.

Works on any rom that I've seen. I'm using it on odex 4.1.2 DLL4
Here is a link to multi-window enable all apps. I have tested and it works great on odex DLL4. Another mod we've been looking for on stock roms!

In my humble opinion Xposed Framework is the best thing that has been done for the community since the old Rom Kitchen website for the first Galaxy S.
But for some strange reason it's not getting the attention it deserves from chefs and devs
The xposed framework should work on any touchwizz based rom

I agree entirely...
The problem is that there is a difficulty level step to overcome. Once you learn how to use this though, you find it's much better than other methods.
The best thing to do right now is to encourage devs to submit their modifications into the repository linked there. This is because the files should work for future ROM versions too, but if the developer updates their patch, it's nice to get notified about the update.
I want to push this much harder in the new year as the new way to modify your phone...
I'd love to have a "no sms in call log" modification

Hmm, I never considered this but this looks cool. I've two questions though, I've read the topic of Pulsur word by word, and I guess it doesn't mess up with any system files right (sorry I didn't get all the technical words)? I am a stock forever user and I like it that way. Secondly, to use it, I just need to download the apk of Xposed framework and install it, then I need to download the mod and install it, right?

Here exact steps
Download Xposed framwork apk and install
open Xposed installer application from drawer and select install/update
Reastart
Download required tweak apk like call record,lomg SMS multiwindow watever you like from available and install all required apks
now you will see notification in notification bar regarding activation, tap it and enable all tweak you have install and needed
Restart
Done.

Okay, I'm not on my PC but I don't understand where are the apk's? In that Github all I see are zip files! Confusing!

Just rename it to .apk, its a bug with the forum software i believe.

I'd like to run an AT&T dedex ROM on my AT&T S4. But the only good looking theme is for Odex ROM's:

Anyone know if after upgrading to a Deodex ROM with lots of mods for Deodex ROM's, if I can then safely conver to Odex and then apply the Odex theme?
There are scripts that will convert from deodex to odex, but I'm not sure if it will screw anything up. And without a true recovery, it's a PITA for me to try and fail.
If you go to page 18 post 173 of that thread you posted you will see a hack way of getting it to work on deodexed ROM that someone posted

Hi guys,
I'm a bit frustrated when I see so few compatible mods for odex roms whereas all are for deodex.
As I want to keep running on odex roms for performance reasons, I'm wondering if it's possible to deodex only some system apps in order to be able to install a deodex mod ?
For example, let's imagine that I deodex Secphone and SecContact, in this case I might be able to install the mod to add the phone conversation recording.
Is it nonsense or is it something possible ?
