Hello,
I have S4 gt-i9515 Value edition and I wish past it rom custom. Think you that I can take a rom custom for Gt-i9505 ? And follow the procedures of installation of kernels and recovery of Gt-i9505 ?
Thank you
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition (GT-i9515) appeared in agencies involved in certification earlier this year, we thought it might be a more accurate version price cutting specifications of a phone today is in full force.
This week we learned that begins and sell in Europe, particularly in Holland and Italy. Incidentally, we learned what the meaning of the name "Value Edition" is exactly the same phone, but it comes with Android 4.4.2 KitKat factory with the latest version of the TouchWiz customization.
We should note that the current model - i9505 - officially upgradeable to the latest Android version. Like the rest, five-inch screen Full HD, 2GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, etc.. Some media have had on hand, say that the back is slightly different.
*EDIT: It comes with 4.4.2 bootloader. This means: Installing custom roms will activate KNOX:0x1 (void warranty in some countries) coz you will have to flash a custom recovery. This is the unique "problem".
CF-Autoroot for I9505 worked in I9515
Just for you to know, I just rooted my I9515 using the I9505 CF-Autoroot file. :good: It all ran quick and easy, as if they really were the same phone.
Beware of digitizer burning

Although the CF-Autoroot for I9505 has worked in my device, when I flashed the I9505 TWRP (2.7), I couldn't use it because the touch screen didn't work. Then I tried I9505 CWM (6.0.4.7, non-tocuh), and everything was smooth and functional.
Later, I flashed Slimkat 5 (which is supposed to be S4 LTE unified, I9505 included, but obviously not for the I9515 yet), but the touch hasn't responded as well. After a few minutes being really afraid I'd burned the digitizer for good , I was able to flash the stock I9515 rom and the touch went back to life!
So, it seems that flashing I9505 stuff (even custom roms) in the I9515 is possible, but the touch doesn't work. That is just a first impression based in my quick experience in this matter, though.

Hello, Rune Walker
Can you confirm that when the root is KNOX past has 0x1.
Would you bluetooth physical keyboard to try to pair it with the gt-i9515?
I want my gt-i9515 rooter to have access to the use of a physical keyboard bluetooth does not want to pair. Kitkat version 4.4.2 has problem with the samsung bluethoot and unofficial unit. The update to the newest official firmware changes nothing.
But it bothers me to lose the warranty for this! Especially if it does not work!! Because the phone is not to me but my wife. lol
thank you

I didn't get it... You think rooting the phone would help to solve the pairing issue? As you tried with a samsung unit, you could contact them in order to check what they advise first - especially if it bothers you to lose warranty, like you said.
Anyway, I will try to pair my i9515 with a belkin keyboard I use for my n8000 and see what happens.
thank you, I eagerly awaits your return to the test with your claver

I just paired my belkin bluetooth keyboard with my I9515 back to full stock (no root either), having no issues whatsoever.
Turned phone bluetooth on, pressed the keyboard pairing dedicated button, the phone identified it, gave me a pin, I entered the pin in the keyboard, and... voilà! It worked just perfect.
What happened when you tried pairing your keyboards? Has any message popped up? What makes you think it was a 4.4kk problem?
Hello and thank you back,
What makes me think that this is just a software problem that the keyboard can apairer with my Galaxy Note N7000. S4 Gt-i9515 is not found. He found 2 times the MAC address of the keyboard but no more? By against the S4 is able to pair no problem with Gnote!
It's strange, I read that Samsung had to create a locking device some no name! When do you think?
Here is the link to the keyboard I buy:

I also have the same question.

I wonder if the ROM i9505, it may run on the GT-I9515 model S4, and also have the model (GT-I9515 S4) of the Claro: Bueno: operator peru, this selling from this month. thanks for the replies.

I have access to super user with a method that I look at different web pages, thanks to those little contributions I could make a little guide on a "X" forum.
I hope this great community "XDA-Developers" can help us with a custom recovery and then put putting on a custom rom.
Could someone please explain to me, that means the last line of this paragraph that is in the S4 GT-I9515.

Walker, what did you mean when you wrote this -- "Galaxy S4 I9515 *stuck region locked" sorry for stupid question, but i am new overthere.
One more question for everyone here. In first place i want to buy I9505 version, but only I9515 is not available at my city. Is any visual difference between I9505 black mist and I9515 black. I don't want to buy I9515 with silver back, but only black one if he is the same like I9505 black mist.
Thanks in advance for any helpful answer.
Alex
alex, there is no visual difference.
I had the i9500 and i9505 have a friend aora have the i9515 and the color black there is no visual difference.

-Access to ROOT
-Install Custom Recovery (Philz Touch activates the knox token).
-Install custom rom CM11 snapshot jflte M8, I install all ok but the only thing that did not work was tochs panel and if the physical lie buttons: D

Is Philz Touch recovery fully working? Touch is working?
And Philz recovery without touch, but only physical buttons, fully working?
Newest losing a holder of S4 GT-I9515 is FAITH.
The Recovery, if it works but with physical buttons, but the fingerprints lie buttons do not work.
It seems that there is nothing new to our model, I really think that if the guys at XDA-DEVELOPERS are not interested in our team no one else may do, it's a shame: '(
I have another question, if recovery work, can I make backup or restore nandroid on stock Rom? Then, can I undervolt and overclock or change the governor with the kernel, still on stock rom?
Successfully rooted GT I9515 international
Successfully rooted GT I9515 (S4 value edition)!
Searched long and was ready for a huge project to go through but at the end tried towelroot, installed supersu pro, busybox pro on my own and it was successfully.

I have to buy a new device, and have had the S1, S2, and S3, but I don't want Exynos.
Which model of the 9505 do I buy? I am very confused about the differences between the i9505 variants.
What I really want to know is which one works best with CM 10.x as that's how I plan to use the device.
I see that the sgh-m919 is ATT, is that correct? Is this still the best option? I need carrier unlocked, so is their an Intl. version that is equivalent to the Google edition?
Thanks
you need carrier unlocked so..
the gt I9505 = qualcomm-Snapdragon based the gt I9500=Exynos-based
the first one (gt I9505 ) is the international variant of the GOOGLE EDITION (gt- I9505g)
the order that cyanogen will get updated is :
Nexus Device
Qualcom device
OMAP Device
Tegra 3 Device
Exynos Device
as you see the exynos are the last that will get updated ...
the gt i9505 is qualcom so will be early and better supported by cm i suppose
hope to have answered to all your question
Thanks.
How does the Google Edition ROM compare to CM in terms of sound quality, camera, etc?
I assume it would be using the same sources for CM as for the Google Edition ROM, even userspace drivers, etc.
That's why I HATE the Exynos version I have now. Sound is never as good on CM as it is on stock. Too much signal noise, and same with camera.
Not CM fault. Samsung.

From what I've seen, the same tools work on S3 and S4 (Odin, Mobile Odin, etc.)
Is the IMEI/EFS folder backup tool also working on it?

Philz Touch recovery has EFS backup built in, look here for Philz Touch http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j...oYgAjwGhpXgFeQpbRFsAaOQ&bvm=bv.50768961,d.ZGU. This is imo also the most stable recovery imo atm. Yes, both Mobile Odin and Triangle Away work flawless on the I9505.

The only problem is that any Samsung warranty is probably void.
Other than that there will be no problem, but I STRONGLY suggest that you either exchange that for a normal sealed phone or at least (on the longer term when you will learn more about the topic) do a complete firmware re-write as to remove anything that was installed (and was possibly hidden) on that phone (for instance keyboard loggers). Also check the reactivation lock.

well they dont give samsung manufacturer warranty they only have crazydeals own warranty which only covers software related issues
no hardware warranty
so there is chances some hidden keyloggers might be there , What do you mean by check reactivation lock what is reactivation lock
how to rewrite the firmware What steps
DOWNLOAD THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE of N9005 and Install it
and then INSTALL REGION LOCKAWAY ? to unlock the phone again ?
i will try to ask them if they have other international version of n9005 which is factory unlocked what if they only have European sim model available
and as the firmware is modified i cannot get OTA FW Updates so what options i have left to get 4.4.2 or later updates on NOTE 3 ?

1. In theory it is that simple, however you probably have no idea what ORIGINAL firmware was So actually it could be much more complex, and you could softbrick the phone.
2. Region lockaway needs root. If you are using a non-EU SIM then you should be twice more careful.
3. You DO NOT want 4.4.2 until you are ABSOLUTELY certain that you can region-unlock the phone - there are reports that not all baseband versions actually work with region lockaway, so for the moment you probably have one that works! HOWEVER ON N9005 YOU CAN NEVER RETURN FROM 4.4.2 BACK TO 4.3! (at least for the moment).

I believe N9005XX is the EU network-unlocked (but region-locked for EU) version.
MI7 could have been rooted with knox 0 by using URDLV, cf-root made your knox 1.
Check the effective CSC on your phone and read the threads around on that matter. Very likely that after writing stock 4.4.2 you will have to re-root and you might need to region-unlock (again?). I do not know if region lockaway works with 4.4.2 - look around for first-hand reports (but be aware to look at reports for the same model of N9005 that you have). Keep in mind that if you write 4.4.2 you can NOT return back to any 4.3 version.

Hi Guys,
Need your help! I am a new user have no idea about the posting stuff.
I wanted to buy S4 GT-I9500 but unknowingly bought S4 American Sprint variant SPH-L720 because I was scammed. I bought this phone because it was showing something Model Number, Software Version of GS4- 19500 in the phone's "About Device" section (PIC 1 & PIC 2 attached) but later when I tried to connect it to Kies it just did not work and this made me suspicious. I took the phone to technician and he flashed genuine firmware on it SPH-L720. I was shocked to see, after that my my device model number and firmware was changed in the "About Device". See current PIC 3 & PIC 4.
I want it back to the previous state of (19500) as shown in the PIC 1 and PIC 2. Please advise how to do it step-by-step.
I am in a huge depression. Please help me!

damn the same thing happened with me yesterday bought a gt9500 which i think is sprint sphl720 but i am not confirmed as mtk droid tools shows baseband version as that of l720 i am hell confused please share how that technician figured it out ? i can flash l720 firmware but not sure about sim lock. did you unlock your phone after official firmware ? or it was unlocked. you have to root and build.prop and then you can edit model number. one more thing was your device pre rooted ?

Sounds like you guys bought Sprint GS4s that were made to look like the i9500. This was done by flashing a i9500 rom which is possible. Looks like you guys were suckered. You can still use the phone on a GSM network but it will only connect to HSPA+ and not LTE.

Your Phone Probablity Originated From China!! OBVIOUSLY!!
Sad to say mine is also a gt-i9500-ish sph-l720. i sent my friend to buy me an s4 and he came back and blurted how he got me a 4G s4 with gt-i9500, and since am really good at this topic I was dead sure they scammed this sucker, so i made sure it was the Sprint S4(apparently most of you has Sprint's). I even was amazed the length they went the info under the battery is for gt-i9500. All you have to do is go to download mode and it states the REAL model name and look at build number and mine was binbinkeji yours DONG something so you have american version of S4 which is kinda legit since you were able to get it to flash the original ROM and get it working, the downsides i found are me unable to use EDGE anymore since it forces you to use HSPA+ (discovered a fix but will get back after evaluating it) an don't detect SIM contacts. you can add a lot of bloatware to the list too. the network didn't re-lock on me, so i think you are safe even though don't know the state of your phone. If there is anything wrong with the 4G well you 'bought' a 3G phone. mine is lovely and all you might lose is 2000 antutu points. otherwise its a good old Samsung Galaxy S4. don't worry!!

Confused for flashing Stock rom on my Samsung Galaxy S4 !! Help and Comment Plz
Hi ,
M Kunal , I purchased Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 4 Months Before . (I have its Box With Its IMEI Written WIth Model Number and also on Back SIde Of its Battery It states That It Is Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) ).But When i put into download mode i saw model name with SPH-L720 ...Now ,M Confused For the phone that i have coz It is Samsung GT-I9500 and showing Model SPH-L720 .. I Was Not aware of any model of S4 Before This But When i searched this model on google i found same phone with same specifications by samsung sprint.. I showed my phone to the samsung care they told me that this phone have custom rom in it but i never flashed it before with any rom instead.. I checked its model in About Phone And It Shows SPH-L720 .. so Can i Flash Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 Stock Rom On this Issue To Show My Phone Model Name About Phone As GT-9500 And Not SPH-L720 coz all things and specifications of both Models Are Same ..

Sounds like you guys bought Sprint GS4s that were made to look like the i9500. This was done by flashing a i9500 rom which is possible. Looks like you guys were suckered. You can still use the phone on a GSM network but it will only connect to HSPA+ and not LTE.

Yes because the build prop on the phone will show the model number as the international model. But at the end of the day the phone will be a SPH-L720

So can we flash a i9500 rom on a sprint s4? What if we're on lollipop?

Flashing ROMs and mods for another device is probably the easiest way to hard brick your phone.

None that I know of. You would have to do it manually and add the mods to the apks for your device. This stuff is a lot of work, there isn't an easy way to do it.

That seems like they put the motherboard of an L720 into the GTI9500... or something like that. If you can, take it back to wherever you got it. Unless you flashed software for a different phone.

I tried "Iroot.exe" , I got an application similar to supersu ( a chinese one ) but it doesn't function as supersu
I want to root my phone and install supersu and clockwork mode or update it through odin
Please help me on this , I am ready to provide any other details regarding the phone
Thank you in advance

Install this APP and add some screenshots.
As suspected, this phone is a Frankenstein, meaning in your case an international ROM on an AT&T S4. Proper rooting procedures and other material for your device are here. Please note that your device is a US model and comes from a carrier that locks (i.e. encrypts) the bootloader on its devices. As a result there will be limits on what you can do with the device.
I'm tempted to trade devices as I have an I9505 here in the States, but I don't want the locked bootloader.

First: I understand from your reply that the possibility of installing Cyanogenmod or official Rom on my device is 0% :crying:
the link you sent me is about the AT&T S4 .
What if I try an AT&T Rom on my device, does that break it ? ,
second: The phone is made in Vietnam and whenever I reset it it starts with Chinese language thats why I thought it's chinese
Please see the other screenshots I attached you may find something
Thank you.
Your device IS an AT&T S4, so installing an AT&T ROM on the phone isn't going to break it. The link I provided is so that if you do wish to work with this beast you have the proper tools to do so, since none of the tools in this forum will be of any aid. However, I'm going to tell you to run, not walk, to the place you got this phone from and return it, because you will not have a good experience. The bootloader is encrypted, which makes rooting nearly impossible. If you live in a country with LTE, you may have reduced or non-existent LTE connectivity due to the LTE bands on the AT&T model S4 being different from those for the I9505.
Country of manufacture doesn't mean a thing. My I9505 was sold in England by O2, yet its country of manufacture is also Vietnam. As to the Chinese language being default, that's ridiculously simple to change in the firmware, so that doesn't mean much either. Your screenshots however, conclusively prove that I was totally correct, and this is an AT&T S4. An I9505 would have "jfltexx" as the device type, not "jflteatt".

1. IMEI is clean of one GT-I9505.
2. The device type is of one SGH-I337.
3. The Samsung Serial Number is CLEAN too.
4. You own a Franki. But looks more a GT-i9505 that one SGH-i337 (Take a look: HERE for remove carrier label).
5. COUNCIL: I will try to flash via ODIN this firmware for GT-i9505 if I was you. Do it by your own responsibility.

I can't return the phone back because I bought it 5 months ago :/ and from far place . and for the 4G we don't have this service ,so i can't confirm.
by the way , I rooted the device today with iroot and Replaced the Chinese iRoot superuser with SuperSu successfully (I found a tutori on youtube) ,but still I can't install clockworkmod , I will keep trying I may found a solution for that , if no I'll get rid of this phone -_- I may sell it to my brother since he doesn't care about the warranty or rooting stuff
anyway, for the mean time I will try the Rom sent to me by "Joku1981" and see .

Hello Joku
I tried with the firmware you sent me yesterday , can't be flashed . odin give me the same error
I tried with "mobile odin pro.apk" than after reboot a yellow triangle with exclamation mark appeared , see attached pic ,
can I reset the phone or it just gone no way to fix that ?
It's too far for that. You need to install AT&T firmware via Odin for the S4 to function at all, thanks to the bootloader. Hopefully the device was carrier unlocked before you bought it, otherwise you'll not be able to use the S4 without purchasing an unlock code.

Hi Strephon
I got rid of the yellow triangle by following this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUbciGy7kHc and now the phone stuck on "samsung custom"
after that I tried instaling the AT&T rom you sent me , and I got red writting I saw only when trying to instal AT&T firmware ( sv rev check fail : fused : 5, binary 1 ) , I think this is not the right ROM , I even tried the other rom for AT&T I found along with the ROM you sent me in "Sammobile.com"
I have friend who has a Box , we tried installing the rom with it , but still we can't
I think i have to find a ROM with (pda I9505ZHUEMK2 CSC I9500ZSUEMJ6) I tried few roms from here; ( http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9505/TGY/ ),but none of them worked ,
Q 1, How/where can I find rom with (pda I9505ZHUEMK2 CSC I9500ZSUEMJ6) ? Is it possible ?
Q 2 ,since I can access system recovery does that mean the original ROM still not wiped ?
Q 3 , what can I benefit from the the system recovery ?
see pics please
Thanks you.
You can't find a ROM with that PDA and CSC combination, as that combination is for two completely different devices, neither of which is your device. The only stock ROM that will install to an AT&T S4 is an AT&T ROM. No other ROM will work, and your attempts to install an incompatible ROM have, to the best of my knowledge, resulted in that indicator in your third picture.
Your ONLY means of restoring this phone to any kind of operating condition is to head over to the AT&T S4 forums and start reading. I will give you a hand though, and tell you that to eliminate the custom indicator in your third pic, you need to read through this thread on the AT&T S4 forums.
The amount of help any of us here can give you from this point on is going to be VERY limited, so head over to the AT&T S4 forums to ask your questions. The device owners in that section are far more familiar with the quirks of the AT&T S4 and will be more able to help you restore this device than we will.

Thank you Strephon for assisting me through all that.
I will see with the thread you sent me .
Take care
I see the Kyubi rom, de bloated Kyubi, light debloated Kyubi and others.
Which Note 5 ported Rom is the best right now? Most stable, less bugs etc. I see the Kyubi roms has bugs with the screen off memo app.
I also happen to like the Samsung apps and touchwiz so i would like to keep those too. Please like me to which one you think is best at the moment. My goal is to have a Note 5 experience that is as close to the original as possible. No custom skins features etc...
Thanks!

I dont know if it is available for Snapdragon verison.
I m using exynos
I´m using SIXPERIENCE Rom v2 and in my N910U and is AWESOME!!
Currently dn5 is only available for the N910C exynos variant. Best so far for the N910F is kyubi rom n5 v1. Bear in mind it is the first release so there may be a few small things to iron out with some updates but I've been running it and testing it all day and so far the only things I have found are very minor. It is smooth, has superb battery life and is a good solid rom. I do have the blue bars on the sides of the screen off memo however that doesn't bother me too much. It works as it should so why complain. Echoe rom is another option however I gave up using it after a day as there were too many bugs. Kyubi n5 v1 is the best I have found so far
I have n910w8. Looks like there is no rom compatible with this version. It's a Rogers phone and rogers hasn't updated past 5.0.1 and never will as per their page. All other Canadian carriers are on 5.1.1. I don't understand why samsung phone require 5.1.1 already installed to use a 5.1.1 rom... i thought the whole point of custom roms was to install version and updates outside the normal schedule. On my HTC One i was able to install the latest version of android even tho my carrier didnt have it yet.. why are samsung phones any different?
I looked everywhere online and cant find modem or bootloaders for 5.1.1 other than 910f which obviously failed to install on my devices. Im so bumed right now, i even voided my warranty by rooting just to find out my phone cant install any roms at all.

i want to use manual control with this camera
i know that stock camera apk haven't speed shutter, but with other app as "manual camera" or "Camera FV-5", it's possible to use all control (on samsung s6, s6 edge and i think note 5).

I saw that already. My phone is N910w8 and it looks like the other carriers in Canada are also N910W8. That link you sent me is for Bell, you think it's safe to install on mine even tho its from a different carrier? I've also read that the N910T is the same phone too and has the exact same hardware version.

Yes it is safe to flash. All Canadian Note 4's are N910W8 and exactly the same except for carriers firmware is just a matter of the bloatware they individually pre-install, otherwise everything else is the same. I have a Rogers Note 4 now running the Bell 5.1.1 firmware and it works just fine. You can also change your phones CSC code to any of the other Canadian carriers no matter which firmware you have meaning they are all the same except for the bloatware.
I am also curious if the camera app has been ported. I could care less about the other stuff.
I actually going back to the note 4. I have a S6 now and can't stand the battery life. With the note 4 before I would get easy 4.5 hours screen on time and now with the s6 I get only 2.5 and that sucks.
But the camera app is much better.
