Hey guys and gals,
In case you haven't read the latest oneplus news, 15 more invites are going up for sale...auction, that is. I thought it would be a great idea if 15 xda members (myself included) wanted to band together to bid for an invite. Let me know who all are interested and perhaps we can get together on a G+ group to communicate. I'm attaching a link to the oneplus thread below.

Pay for the right to buy a phone? How about they just send out invites so people can buy the phone and they just donate a percentage of the sales from the first x-amount to one of the causes they listed

I know, right?...I flipped when I realized the auction was for invites. However, between 15 people, it would probably not be too much.

True but it's getting a little ridiculous for me. Lot of stuff to go through to buy a phone. If they want to help charities tack on an additional $1 to phone and donate that.
Good luck to those of you who take part in the auction though.

I understand what you're getting at, but I have little doubt this "auction for charity" will be "won" by someone who's just going to use all the invites for himself so he can buy a bunch of phones and resell them for profit.

That won't be possible because you will be allowed to only buy one and send the other invites to other people. Unless you are going to cheat of course.

If you guys actually visit the page and read, you'll see that oneplus specifically says you can get a group together. It's not cheating...it's common sense lol that being said, I can understand everyone's doubt. I will create a group and link in OP today.

I did read the page. What I meant by cheating was to create dupiicate accounts and because of that being able to buy more than one phone at once. That you can create groups to get an invite is fine, you'll put your money together then entering into the auction only once.
Count me in. Whenever a G+ group is set up, would somebody be able to send me a PM or notify in one way or another. Thanks very much.

I can join since it will be for a good cause too. Let me know when the G+ group is set up. If not then I'll wait for whenever the hell they decide to sell the phone

I just got an invitation after asked in Engadget forum.
And that was AFTER I read that Google closed the invite.
Now, for the stupid me, I cannot and I dont know how to invite other people
If I cannot invite FROM my G+, why I got an invitation after I knew Google closed the invitation.

Invites didn't close all at once it seems. Mine closed well before other peoples. I have a feeling they will open up invites again soon, but limit how many people you invite just like gmail was at beta launch(and still is technically).
I don't know where it will be when the invites come back but to invite before there was a button right below the "go mobile" link for the app on the lower right side of the screen.
But don't worry fellow xoomers, when invites open again I will do my best to get as many of us in as I can

just noticed you have a xoom and a sensation - lucky bugger - that's what combo I'd like but will remain with my Desire due to low funds for the foreseeable future (probably till end of the year)

Yes, Xoom and Sensation look good together. But i have had my share of problems with the Sensation, before you buy it, check the Sensation forum!

They don't take new people anymore. Even if you get invited, no new registration are allowed. We all have to wait until they let new people in.

That thread may not be accepting new names, and if it isn't (but it currently is ), can you please post your Invite request into this thread. This will keep the OnePlus One forums from filling up with millions of Invite requests that will just end up getting ignored. It will also help people with invites to find the people who need them.
Once you get your invite, please edit your request to "got one" or something similar to make it easier on everyone...
Oh...don't forget to share your extra invites too :angel:

This thread is the only one where asking for an invite directly will be allowed, because it's the only one. OP did it to avoid all that invite requests flooding the rest of the forum. If you couldn't make it on our list, here is the way to go... Especially for people who want to share invites who aren't on our list already. So good luck to everyone!

well i think the xiaomi mi4 is the next best thing for that price, but too bad there's no announcement of it coming to the US or elsewhere outside of China.
on a side note, i'm not one of the lucky 5k from yesterday's blizzard invites, so i can use one if someone's kind enough?

I still think the nexus 5 is better than most other phones that are out. Still, the lg g3 seems to have been a let down so im not sure what to expect from the nexus 6.

Okay, I was able to file a complaint through a channel that not only has allowed me to order the Nexus 6 I wanted, but also have it sent via free overnight FedEx to be delivered tomorrow... yes, on Saturday.
I was going to post how I did this, but felt it [maybe] unfair to the people who made it happen for me.
So, this leads me to the question: Of all of the people trying to buy this phone, who would truly benefit this community if they were able to get one? Also, who would keep this information confidential and not repost it for the whole community?
Now, I'm not saying this is guaranteed, but from the time I initiated contact, I had a call back within a few short hours, and was able to place an order over the phone.
Are there any developers who have been unable to get it, who would undoubtedly do some serious good by having one?
I hope no one takes this the wrong way. I have zero developing skills, and this is just a tiny way for me to do something for someone deserving since I've benefited so much from this community.
I see what you are trying to do OP.... Might be best to just send a pm next time

I cannot afford to buy a 2nd one for someone, but am willing to share how I got mine. I know franco is direct and upfront with his words. I don't want to offend him by offering him this info. But if anyone who knows him wants to let him know to contact me, I couldn't think of many more deserving than him.

I'd contact CarbonROM or Slim. Last I heard Carbon said they'd only support n6 if they won a phone as no maintainers had money for it.

He does not have a phone to give away
He just knows a way for people to get hold of one quickly, you still have to buy it. He is not selling his own phone.
This isnt even really ground breaking news, all he did was complain up the chain of command and like most execs they dont want to deal with it so in order to make the client happy they just take care of them. You mention they told you not to post online, yet you are doing just that. I honestly dont see the point of this thread, why dont you PM a few of the top developers and see if someone is interested. Its like you are playing a game and somehow you have to be entitled to get your super top secret information.
If it were up to me i would contact someone from Slim team, CM team, PA team, and OMNI team as those 4 are actually doing real development and dont just kang/piece together bits and pieces from every other rom out there.

Yes, you're correct. I was overly excited and hadn't had time to think about it. And then.... I thought about it and how awesome this person on a small team was to me, and decided against it.
I have no problem with this thread being closed. It's obvious aside from the few who "got" what I was trying to do and posted suggestions, the rest have just whined or bickered on here.
