I am on my third Vibrant from Bell Mobility. I returned the first two because of the same problem. I would be using the phone like normal, and at random times I go to make a call or something, and notice that the phone is turned off! On my last 2, i couldn't turn it back on using the power button, so i would re-install the battery to get it working again (until it would happen again a day or two later).
Well, today it happened for the first time on my third vibrant (on the 2nd day after i had it). This time, i decided to hold the power button for about 10 seconds...and the phone restarted (didn't re-install battery like i used to).
What could be causing this? I thought it was a defect in the phone, but this is the third one to do it. It happens randomly (sometimes every 3rd day, sometimes everyday). Anyone know what it could be? Could the phone just be 'frozen' in sleep mode? (meaning the phone is still on, just the screen is frozen black)...or could the phone actually be off? Thanks in advance!
Have you done any mods to your phone? Rooted? Custom rom? If you're rooted, are you using SetCPU?
The only time that I had this happen to me was using SetCPU, after reading about it if you let it go down to 100mhz in sleep mode it shuts down? After restarting and not having SetCPU on boot, I have not had this happen again.... Hope that helps

Definitely odd occurance then.
My friend had the exact same issue with the Samsung Captivate. He is on his 2nd one, but the issue's started on the 3rd day. AT&T told him it was a battery issue, I guess they had a defective batch. Try to get them to swap a new battery from the store to see if that fixes the issue.
I have been using my vibrant non stop and not had a single issue. I guess its just bad luck on your part.
New battery everytime. Strange strange
Really weird...could be a combination of apps or a bad app...you tried without installing any apps yet

This has happened to me. I'm pretty sure the phone is frozen in sleep mode. Not sure exactly what app caused it, but it only happened one other time. I've removed some apps I wasn't using and it hasn't happened since. Who knows which one was the culprit.
Had the same problem with my first Vibrant from Bell as well, they know about the issue and say they have no fix other than to swap the handset out for a new one. My second handset has been fine for a week now.
Let's compare apps
Some of us are having problems with our Captivate randomly shutting down also. AT&T technical support thinks it could be apps that we've installed. Could they be right? My replacement device didn't start shutting down again after 3-4 days of owning it. By that time, I have already installed some favorite apps. Here's my list. Let's compare and figure this out. It's just a theory. Can't hurt.
<<<< OMG! While typing this new thread to turn on my phone so I can see the list of apps I have installed, MY PHONE TURNED OFF ON ME! WHAT THE...!!! >>> Anyway...

Anything is possible at this point
just to help, I will install adobe reader on my phone and see what happens, I have no issue what so ever, I do have google maps, so let's see what happens with adobe reader
I vote an app causing the problem.
Sorry guys, I have been having the same problem and the only app I have that is the same as that list is Google Maps... and I don't really think that is it.
But it is probably "app" related, in the sense that there is a cache issue or something possibly stock with the phone goes occasionally haywire. It is very random, has been very hard to find any pattern.
It was happening to me only when it was charging, but then yesterday it happened when it was not plugged in. Seems to roughly occur ever other day or so.
Does make the phone not so reliable as an alarm clock, as I recently discovered
Hard reset and don't install ****. Anything. Just let the phone stock for a few days if its fine, its a app.
I had a game called hero of Sparta that wigged my phone out bad. Had to delete that puppy.
I picked my Nexus S up this am as the store opened at 9am. I powered it on and away it went it had all of my apps dl in minutes.I had to go into work so I just let it charge on my car charger. Got to work and went to start Cardio trainer ( which is an app I use daily for about 3-5 hours per day) it immediately force closed. Force closes each time I try and use it. So i sent message to dev. The next thing I know I get a message saying that Beautiful Widgets geolocation is getting false reading from the GPS and it force closes. The GPS has been spotty. When first initiated it took over 10 minutes to get a lock. Turned it off and tried again and it took 7 minutes. The third time it was about 15 seconds and since then it alternates back and forth from almost instant to minutes again. What concerns me is that the accuracy just bounces back and forth from 32.6 ft to 16.3 ft and anywhere in between and really never stabilizes. This may be normal for this type GPS systems(I don't know) Also I have the old market and cannot find a link for the new market.Wasn't Gingerbread suppose to come with the new market? So far I am impressed with the smoothness of the system but not with the GPS. Also the lInpack scores are lower than on the Vibrant. Appears to be very solid. Anyone else have any of these problems?

I've only had FCs using the new google maps so far.
Random FC for me in maps, market and gallery :-/
ive yet to experience a FC
Cardio trainer is not working for me either, I am wondering if the dev's need to update it for 2.3, I also can't get vlingo to work.

phone randomly goes to boot animation screen
Ok, so it appears something is wrong with my phone. Every once in a while, i'll look down on my phone or in the middle of doing something, and it will go to the boot animation screen. Most of the time, the boot animation screen is dimmer than on normal start up. It will eventually go back to the ui, which I will then have to restart my phone because it won't connect to wifi or 3g.
Anyone else had this problem? Think it's worthy of getting a replacement from bestbuy or a glitch that should be fixed with an ota?
I haven't seen anything like this yet, though I suppose I don't keep my eye on my phone constantly, so I suppose it could have happened while I wasn't looking. No WiFi or 3G problems, either.
Sounds like you've got a serious issue there if you're seeing it a lot, though. I would get it replaced. Unless you're running a third-party ROM or some other non-stock mod, in which case dump it first and see if the problem is being caused by that.
Yea I had this happen twice. At gym was changing a track with Bluetooth headphones and went to dimmer bootscreen had to pull battery. And another time I had to reapply all my Widgets on my homescreen. I'm on CM7 rom

I'd look at the software you've added since the phone was purchased as the first primary suspect. Weird widgets, background services, live wallpapers, background syncing app, something like that...
You'd want to wipe/reset the phone before a return anyways, so why not do a factory wipe/reset from the settings/privacy menu, then start off with a fresh phone (software wise)? Be conservative in what apps you install at first, and check for stability; then slowly add back the stuff you'd have one by one and see which app from the Market causes the glitch.
I think that's a bit more fair to Samsung, Best Buy, and whoever ends up with the device as a refurb, than returning what is probably not bad hardware to the store.

Hmmm...and you don't think the fact that you're using ALPHA level firmware that is known to have some bugs in it, might be your problem?
I'd expect that kind of thing with CM as long as it's alpha, and even beta. I wouldn't be surprised with it even on the RC versions. It's experimental until Team Douche releases an actual ready-for-prime-time version.

Random Reboots, we call it on the SGS (samsung galaxy s) side
hoping for the best, it is not the same deadly problem we found on some of the 16GB SGS phones, that eventually lead to the corruption / destruction of the internal SD
but those were the signs.
so i'm really hoping that is not the same problem, else i'll really be pissed with Samsung to produce yet another crappy phone with cheap internal parts.
it should not be, as i saw pictures of the innards of the SNS (samsung nexus s) and it was clearly showing SandDisk for the 16GB internal SD
Random Reboots
A couple of times I've had the Nexus S reboot, once when I was in the middle of a call and once again as I was messing around with the settings.
I'm running 2.3.1, th latest build GRH78, does anyone have an idea as to why the random reboots are occurring?
Thanks in advance for your help

ICS in Note
After upgrading to ICS via kies,
Battery seems to drain very fast.
Camera hangs up sometimes and other camera related apps like Instagram also but maybe the pic quality is little better.
It seems to crash when some other apps runs too.
Not sure if it was there before but I can pause music and video if I show my palm on the screen.
The screen rotates faster than in GB with a pause at the beginning though.
News fonts are good.
Window animations are good but still dont' know how to stop it since it might be draining battery fast.
Can use Chrome now and it's fast.
I cannot use Mass Storage Mode. I recieve a "Ui stopped to work" error.
I am facing,
1. High android OS usage. Sometime its higher than Brightness, and most of the time its highest usage of batt after brightness. (I read somewhere, it said its calculation errors, but I think its not, cause my battery no longer last that long.)
2. Camera will sometimes fail to operate. I really dunno what is wrong with that.
3. Phone just cant go into deep slp. Its being kept awake by some apps (Which I cant narrow it) Using BetterBatteryStats, I found out its I2_HSIC. (Whats this I2_HSIC ??)
I am using a 5400mAh mugen batt. previously on GB, my usage can last me 24hrs, now it can only last 16hrs or less. I installed lesser apps, and lesser widgets. Disable account sync and google backup. Settings more or less kept the same.
Overnight my batt can reduce by 21%, it never happened before. lol. ICS...

Occasionally, usually about 1 time per day, My phone display will start to flash, with random green and red colors. The screen I'm on, will flash those colors then star to shake and slide.
It looks like a television station not tuned quite right on an analog antenna (if anybody remembers that!)
I can't reproduce it regularly, but It think it has happened when going from an Application, back to the home screen using the home button.
I am on ICS, Taiwan, stock, not rooted.

I can get the screen back by just waiting it out. Usually takes about 2 minutes. I sure do wish I knew what was happening, though, so I could confirm no damage was being done.

As far as #2 goes, go to your battery stats and see if "media" is listed. If so, force close it and try again. Seems to work for me. I'm not sure if it is just me or not because I have been playing with settings lately, but the media scanner tends to run wild it seems (also seems to lend to battery drain).
I am just disappointed that they left out some of the nice features of ics like the updated gallery and camera. Seems kind of lazy to me and no wonder things arent working well if they are mix and matching gingerbread and ics rather than going all in and starting development from there. I would definitely go back to using one of the non tw ics roms if it weren't for the sod issues I was having...

Having Lag & Heat Issues???
Is anyone having lag issue or any heat issues? I guess I have one of the problem notes as mine has extreme lag and heat problems. I have cleared all caches and have also factory reset several times. What's weird is that the lag will come and go, but it's there more often than not. Even scrolling in settings has the jitters.
Any ideas anyone. I might be better off going through the miserable process of exchanging through the mail.
Thanks in advance for any help!
You'll have to boot to safe mode to see if the issue persists. Also, make sure power saving mode isn't on (I've left it on before).

My guess is it has to do with one or multiple of the apps you have installed. There is a 3 step process to fix this issue.
#1 - See if any of the apps you have installed are running rouge. Check, battery usage, RAM usage, and Data Usage to see if you have any bad apps. Uninstall any 3rd party apps that you installed that are running too much. They may just still need updated to be optimized for this new device. Also you can use the "sleep" (doze) feature in battery management to restrict apps that are running TOO much in the background. Also on any apps that are using too much data or RAM check the permissions. If an app does not need access to Data, Media etc to work properly turn off those permissions.
#2 Debloat the device. I like "Package Disabler Pro". Basically if it has Facebook, FB, or ATT in the name you should disable it. Also you can go through an disable any Samsung software you do not use as well. I would be careful about using the "disable all bloatware" button because it is not setup correctly for this new device yet.
#3 Give it some time. It you have a TON of media on a micro EXSD card then it can take a new phone a long time to index and create thumbnails for all of that information. It should speed up i about a day or so once it finishes indexing. this will also effect your battery life till it is completed.

Yeah it will break Samsung Pay though... I think it's related to the UIBCVirtualSiftkey app, but have not confirmed that. Also it does not get nearly all of the bloatware. There is a ton of new AT&T junk it does not disable as well as a bunch of new Facebook crap and Samsung crap.

Definitely. It gave me the perfect opportunity to try out the scroll capture. Let me know if you have any questions. This is what I have disabled so far without any issues. Once I get a full completed list I'll probably do a write up about how to clean up the dock ROM. I think I'm about 70% done with the list.
So far I'm getting about 6.5 hrs of SOT and about 28 his of usage.

I am not positive but I think it's the UIBCVirtualSoftkey if the doesn't fix it. Just enable all of the stuff you disabled and reboot. Then only disable what's on my list. I can confirm is working with my setup.
I'm exchanging mine tomorrow and was hoping for better news but from your experience it sounds like I may have to deal with an expensive piece of crap.

This phone lags a lot especially in Chrome and other scrolling apps.. sometimes switching between apps takes lot of time too...I have been using Samsung phones for quite sometime, but unfortunately this is the phone lagging more than any other phone for me..debloated almost 150 apps, still the same..and it gets hot as well when watching videos...none of this happened for me on Note 5...I think Samsung screwed with Note7 software..when they initially released Grace UX software for Note 5, it was very smooth...but the final Note7 software seems to be laggy...the same apps and setup on Note5 doesn't give me these issues....gonna return and try my luck with new one...but good thing is battery life has been very good for me...easily 5hrs SOT whereas on Note5, I used to get only 3.5 hrs

I am exactly facing this issue..I am a heavy XDA user, so I monitor all the apps on phone and debloated lot (around 150) apps...still the same.. thing is lag doesn't happen all the times..but it starts from no where..but the phone consistently gets hot while moderate usage

When the phone is working properly, bloatware should make no noticeable difference and debloating is unnecessary.
My Note 7 usually responds instantly, with no lag, no matter how heavily I'm using it. That's with nothing disabled or debloated. (I'm using the Google Now launcher but everything else is stock/default, with no esoteric apps or settings.)
However, on three occasions in the week I've had the phone, it's gotten into a mode with serious lag while typing. In this mode, even though the characters I type still show up on the screen instantly, I can type 3 or 4 characters with no sound feedback or vibration feedback; then, there will be 3 or 4 delayed clicks and vibrations in rapid succession.
When this serious-lag mode starts, it continues even if I close all apps and put the phone in Airplane mode. It also makes no difference if I turn on power-saving mode, or even maximum power-saving. The only thing I've found that fixes it (for a while) is rebooting.
The intermittent occurrence of the serious-lag problem shows that it's not a matter of the phone being underpowered or overloaded. There's some specific bug that needs to be fixed.
UPDATE: It just happened for a fourth time. And when the serious-lag mode starts, it's not just typing that has a delay with audio feedback. The feedback delay also occurs when I tap on icons, tap on the Back or Recent-apps soft-buttons, etc. There's a delay of up to a second or two between tapping and hearing the feedback.
On the other hand, compute-intensive tasks--such as playing streaming video--work properly even when the phone is in serious-lag mode. So that's further evidence that there is some specific bug, and not a general problem of being underpowered or overloaded.

Curious, do these typing lags occur on the hangouts app?!?! It seems to be the ONLY app on my Note 5 (and all the other phones I've used) that has a VERY NOTICEABLE KEYBOARD LAG, especially with Samsung Stock keyboard. This happens even with other keyboards, but is WORST with samsung keyboard.....

No, the problem I'm seeing is unrelated to any app or keyboard. When my phone is in serious-lag mode, the problem occurs across the board. When it's not in lag-mode (which it usually isn't), then there's no lag in any app, including Hangouts.

Hmmm.....interesting....I use the app os monitor to show which processes are running at high cpu %. Perhaps that can shed some light on your lag issue?

It happens even with all apps closed, no heat, no battery drain. It's not a side-effect of the phone being bogged down with anything.
Notifications sometimes don't work, especially for calls. It stays connected fine with Nougat, though I can't figure out how to track sleep. The specs state that it can.
Until today. I added the watch as one of my "trusted devices" so the phone stays unlocked when they're in range of each other, and it disconnected. Now when I try to reconnect in WiiWear, it crashes and disconnects again. I've forgotten the watch, removed it from "trusted devices," wiped cache, reinstalled WiiWear, etc, and it still crashes. HELP!
The Bluetooth stack in all these MTK 6580 watches are very unreliable

Seems that way. Hopefully an update comes soon that helps.
I've had it. Constantly disconnecting, having to reset the watch to get it to connect again, and crashing assistant "SinWear" app. Pissing me off. I'm returning this.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I'm considering buying one myself. Do you think this is mostly a problem with the watch (i.e. hardware) or something with the connection between the phone app and the watch software?
Also, if you don't mind taking a minute to tell me, what did you think of the build quality and general usability of the Y3?

I have the Y3, and the connection problem is very real. Until yesterday, I could not maintain any reliable connection between the watch and my phone. The Bluetooth would continually connect and disconnect, and the m2d manager and receiver were very quickly being killed after the the screen turned off. Then I stumbled on the cause. I was checking the app notification log using Google gesture and noticed an app called Battery Master posting silent notifications. This app does not show in the app list and is not accessible in any other settings screen. However, when I tapped on one of the notifications in the notification log, it took me to the info screen for Battery Master and gave me the option to disable the app, which I did. Bluetooth, m2d, and notifications have worked perfectly ever since. So far I have not noticed any significant difference in battery drain but it will probably take a few days to know for sure.
Build quality of the watch is excellent. I love the watch now that the connection issue is fixed. The display is awesome since there is no black band around the outside and no flat tire. I've installed the ClockSkin launcher which provides a better looking interface and allows installation of all the excellent LEM5 watch faces available from the G+ user group. Battery life for me (after disabling Battery Master) seems to be about 10 hours.

That's good to hear. You should definitely make a quick Youtube video about the fix, or even just a thread here on XDA. I bet a lot of people never discovered what was the cause of their connection issues and just returned the watch. One question though, does that fix persist through a reboot, or do you have to disable the Battery Master app each time you start the watch?
Please update us if your connection issues continue to be resolved with that fix (or not).

It's actually really good. It's a solid watch, and it has a lot of good uses. I wish it did work with apps like Google Fit and Sleep as Android though, but it's not really necessary as those work fine with just the phone as is. It is supposedly IP67-rated water proof, but I don't recommend testing that by completely submerging it, or showering with it on. It likely is OK with washing hands, though. Or sweat. Never had a problem even with my original Moto 360 in that regard.
One thing these will never do is make or receive calls over Bluetooth. None of them will.
They are a stand alone watch phone. Never made to call through Bluetooth.
Cheers

The fix is still working, and yes, it does survive a reboot.

How exactly did you access those settings? What if you walked too far from the phone, does it reconnect?

Download the app Google Gesture Search from the play store onto your watch. This will allow you to easily search for settings options that are not accessible through the watch's launcher. Search for Notification Log. In the log, tap on any line that says Battery Master. This will take you to the app info page for Battery Master. You can't uninstall the app but you can disable it. This will allow Bluetooth to stay connected and will allow the m2d manager and receiver to stay running.
Using m2d, the phone will reconnect with the watch automatically if you come back into Bluetooth range.
Be aware that once you disable Battery Master, there is no way to re-enable it because it won't show up in the logs. I'm guessing that a firmware update or a factory reset would re-enable it.

The IP67 rating is a misprint, on the official LEMFO store at AliExpress, the listing for the Y3 states that it is IP65 rated. I took a screenshot because I know a lot of people were confused about that.

That's really too bad. I really would like a watch like my Gear S (which also allows you to use a SIM card) that can simply pass the call through the watch. For driving it is great to keep your hands on the wheel. I wonder why the feature isn't on more watches. It seems like a no-brainer.
Yeah, these are literally a phone watch. A miniature android phone on your wrist....

Not available in my country. I got it from APKMirror though.
I still have issues connecting after doing this. It worked fine and stayed connected the first time but once I rebooted both devices, wiiwear now force closes. I'm on Nexus 6p dirty unicorns 7.1 and the firmware on the watch is from Dec 16 any ideas

Neither Wiiwear or Sinwear will run on my Nexus 5x. I think it's an incompatibility with Android 7+. You can sync notifications to the Y3 using m2d once you fix the Bluetooth problem by disabling Battery Master.
