Yalls thoghts on the LG G3 not receiving the 805 - G3 General

Just for lulz what are yalls thoughts on the LG G3 not receiving the Snapdragom 805 SOC?

Wrong section mate. this should be in General discussions

Isn't the 805 not even out yet?
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

not a deal breaker for me. the SD 800 would be enough for any typical user IMO.
the main benefits of the 805 (from my minimal research) is graphics performance....something I am not concerned with in the least bit.
32GB/3GB RAM version would be awesome.....and should be future proof enough for me. I'm a gadget whore, so it wouldn't be with me more than 2 years either way, but its nice to know it COULD last longer if I needed it to.

801 is ok, but the resolution is not ok - too big for 801.

The 805 is not a good phone SoC, it doesn't have an integrated radio. Sure it would have been nice to get the Adreno 430, but not at the cost of a slower radio, less battery life and a bigger phone.
801 is perfectly fine, people just assume the 330 can't handle a QHD resolution for some reason, even though it supports higher resolutions than that. Those people should at least wait for indepth reviews before making assumptions about the capabilities of these components.

Don't care. Trust LG put the best chip in it they could at the time.

805 is for tablets only anyways ATM. Soooo

You need to read the spec on it more closely.

You will definitely see phones with the 805 processor later this year. Saying it isn't a phone processor, or is tablet only, is just flat out wrong.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the 801, at all. But let's not talk a bunch of BS either.

Just lower resolution down to 1080p and it will rip through everything

The block diagram shows it being on die. Did they move it? I thought that was only happening on the 808/810

Why do people keep posting about the 805. It isn't meant for phones, it is a tablet processor. This isn't even relevant to the G3 so stop posting about it.

Don't be so aggressive with your responses, especially if you have nothing to contribute! If you are not interested in the topic, you simply have to look elsewhere. I am asking questions about the 805 in the hopes of gaining knowledge about it. The advancement of knowledge is, after all, the primary reason for participation in a public forum.

Dude.. read what you are posting. Notice how there's no LTE on the die? It's just the Wifi/BT/FM/USB, the modem is on a separate die. Now go look at the 801 die picture. See how it says 4G LTE Advanced on the die? That's an integrated modem.
So like I said previously, you need to read more carefully - especially when you're trying to erroneously correct someone. If you did a simple google search something like "805 integrated modem" would have saved so many posts.

Sprints been at a true crossroad the last couple months on commuting to a 4G technology Wimax or LTE.
99.9 % chance it will be LTE by the looks thus chip plays a big factor.
I don't think there is a dual chip available yet that can play both so it will be interesting.

From what I understand a switch from WiMax to LTE is just a firmware update, so my guess is the chip included would just require an update and there you go, WiMax to LTE on your phone now.

True firmware can be done on tower but not on current wimax chips so they would have to use muti capable.

A 3D phone? Meh. And by the time this "nexus s 4g" will be released it will be a 6 month old android phone with a single core processor and no expandable storage. Give me a break.
Glad I have not used my upgrade yet. This should be Epic, It has to be.

From what I understand on the subject, the WiMax chips in our phones aren't and can never be compatible with LTE. The infrastructure (network, towers) is compatible with a radio or controller swap but the WiMax chips in the phones are not.
That being said, I would disagree and put it at a 99% probability that whatever they release will be WiMax. LTE would be a better option but I would be very surprised to see them moving to that now, maybe in a year or two.
I had a feeling they were going to have big news. Two things that drive me nuts about Sprints tendencies are their propensity to go with physical keyboards (Epic) and chrome rims around the phone which I think are very ugly (Touch Pro, EVO Shift). If they release a Nexus S, just the way it is but with the addition of 4G, that would be a very difficult device to turn down.

If they don't bump the hardware specs i.e. a dual core proc,s'amoled plus,1080p video and true HDMI,this phone will be dead on arrival.

HSUPA speeds are likely crippled, too.
And yeah, the T-Mobile version will have the best theoretical download speeds, but the worst performance, especially graphics.
It'll also use its very own totally-unique-won't-work-with-anything else firmware...it's a one-off, almost an orphan, so don't expect much community support for it.
hehe, bought the UK version or "unlocked" like new for $450.... thanks foe the replies guys, BTW the CPU is 1.2 so it's the same speed, no speed bump..

Two differences in hardware for example:
Atrix supports more 3G frequencies (i.e 900mhz, which the Atrix 4G does not)
If you wish to flash alternate roms you need a ram fix.
Atrix 4G radios aren't fully compatable with the Atrix and visa versa (3G signal level reported incorrectly)
Sigh. So no they are not, hence the reason behind the video.
I've looked at some of your recent posts, you are clearly spamming so please unless you have some constructive feedback then please do not post again.
Interesting video. Hadn't really thought about it too much before
The TTY modes in the US are to support people who are hard of hearing. Not sure exactly how it works, but I believe it routes all calls through a center that does text->speach conversion.

The phone isn't true 4G, its just a US term for HSPA+. We have HSPA+ here in the UK, but we don't call it 4G. One company tried that and got slapped down big time for it.
As regards the rubber backing, I was very surprised to find that when I got the phone! I know they 3 colours of "rugged" battery doors but didn't realise it was a standard part nowadays! Its very nice, but I have my Incipio feather covering it that I brought for 99c from Radio shack while visiting america!
The 4G and Atrix have the same 14.4 Mbit radio chip. AT&T 4G is indeed the rest of the planet's 3G.
All the differences are firmware (software) based, if you look at the specs for the Qualcomm mdm6200 chip you'll see it can handle all the frequencies, moto is just pandering to carriers with crippled radios.

I don't have any way to show you guys how to know that difference by hardware, but you can test it by yourself using clemsyn kernel 1.5 ELITE, Elite means only if your Atrix has an Elite Tegra that can support the kernel, if your phone does not boot or freezes then your Atrix has not an Elite Tegra.
That's the only way right now that I can find out how to know if it is Elite or not.

From a technical standpoint, they are the SAME as the rest of the "non-elite" tegras.

1. S4 will probably have 4g as standard so there is no need for the i9505
2. benchmark is lower than a note 2
3. 4.2.1 WTF!
Anyway exynos 5 will be beast and is pointless if the processor is around the same performance of note 2.
also you think samsung hasnt got their own way of benchmarking the phone?
they know power is important in this years flagship and they are not likely to be worse than what qualcomm has to give.
So you think before you post, this is faked.

Keep in mind that exynos 5 will be a beast, but mostly in the energy efficiency area. As the technical from Samsung explained, all 8 cores will NEVER run in the same time, it will be basically a quad-core running an ARM7 processor base in low demanding tasks and an ARM15 processor base when at full power.
Still, scores are very low anyway and i assume that if someone tried to "fool us", has set an 1.9ghz value considering that it will have an Snapdragon processor, as Samsung never released a running freq for their exynos.
100% fake, some random overclocked phone with ro.product.model=xxx changed to read ro.product.model=GT-I9505. Takes a few seconds to do.
could you please tell me how to modify the screen pixel ?

People need to get over it that this is most probably is the version they'll be releasing. Edit: I'm talking about the Snapdragon version of the phone.
Why would you trust a benchmark ? You get different results each time you start one.
Ignorance is near impossible to prevent but manners are easily controlled. There is no need for such blatant flaming on here and it seems the developers get away with it all the time....

LOL how many people care about AOSP ?? HMM...maybe 10% or less ( i know CM team done great job though to bring stable AOSP build )
timescape is just crappy laggy boring useless UI , i prefer TW all the day over any other Android Frameworks and lunchers
if u want the best AOSP experience just get a Nexus
Jeez guys calm down. What I think is that samsungs developers are not small scale one-man per device jobs. I beleive that samsung collaborates with other workers to merge aosp and touchwiz using well known GIT. They mihgt be a big team that can accomplish a 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 in a matter of two weeks. Dont forget, our s3 just had a leak that works and I am sure we are not priority at samsung devs. I think they would have an efficient task force that could easily do what you said is crazy quite easily. Plus I am sure that they would atleast merge aosp code 4.2.2 and then continue bugfixing. Btw andreilux, its quite obvious that its fake even if we dont agree on the reasons.
And Note II is still up top

[Q] Which One to Buy ? Dev will support ?

Obviously we are all waiting for the Note 4, yet it's Pricey.
Now comes the hard question.
Which one to buy ? and
Which will the Dev support ? (Future Proofing)
N910C or N910S
Snapdragon over Exynos
We all saw it in the S4 between the 9505 and 9500 so I don't want to get stuck in the same loop.
Please advise at the earliest since all the articles on the Web refer to Chip variants and differences yet no one has a solid answer to which will be supported and would be considered as a real investment. I hear the Exynos is benchmarked with 40K therefore exceeding our favorite Snapdragon chip !?
That makes it even worse to decide
International version is snapdragon if u care about custom stuff go for it.

Kinda. There's now multiple international versions and some are Exynos (some of Europe, Aus, NZ, HK and Korea)

I think the exynos version(s) this time around may prove to be a bit more popular because the believe (uncertain) that the 5433 will run 64bit (future proofing).

Tough to say, All of the USA market will have snapdragon, as will many other countries. That means there will be a greater percentage of "market share" of the S805 version with a better chance of having dev support on it.
Snapdragon
This is a million dollar question right here...

thats great to hear!
u planning on doing any dev work on this thing, or just gonna enjoy it?
I can't decide between the white or the black myself; I'd get the gold one just to be different, but, it wont be out for awhile, so dont want to wait for it..
As soon as i have the files i plan on working on recovery and if I get bored enough maybe more.

hahaha that's so true. Snap will have better dev support and GPU while the exynos MIGHT be 64bit enabled anytime soon and is definitely faster, but still not sure of how faster in daily use. Now it's up to you and wait for more information to come. For now, that's about it.

you give me far too much credit, i port recoveries and do minor things. bootloader exploits are beyond my scope of even understanding how many actually work.
The Exynos model should be faster, better on battery, and possibly offer 64-bit down the road. I'm going with that one.
