Ive used the app before : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...utm_source=42matters.com&utm_medium=WidgetWeb
It says I already have access, im rooted, safe strap, on the NC2 leak, cant even get the file manager to transfer my files from the internal storage to the external SD, I think it has to do with the problems that the internal storage has a "emulated" internal sd card so the app thinks the phone already has sd card access If someone can help that wold be greatly appreciated as I have a decent amount of media I want off my internal, god HD video takes up to much space, not to mention music and a thousand or so photos
You're on the nc2 odex, not the deodex?
<Note3>
---------- Post added at 01:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 AM ----------
If you just said yes, go to post #164 in the nc2 rom thread. There's a link for the fix.
<Note3>
The patch you listed makes a second path that is fully writable. Use:
"/mnt/media_rw/extSdCard"
instead of:
"/mnt/extSdCard"
Hope this helps. My Tab is working perfect with 4.4.2. Still need to get my Note updated!
I'm pretty sure I flashed the deodexed one but can't be sure as I downloaded both.
I'm not sure what you mean with your mount command can you explain please
Bump for more help? Please
I'd like to know this too, as I am using nc2 firmware (stock, just root).
My device is n9005...
What he means is when copying files, use the first path he listed instead of the second path.

I'm currently on V10K, CM10. But i used this app when i was on V10K: AppMgr III (App 2 SD) by Sam Lu. Maybe the app your trying to move is in use or protected (by some sort of protection). I never had this problem, i'm sorry I can't help you...
Yea, i use it too. Look:

But thank you
This damn device has emulated sd storage ,those 2.7GB and for example all sd files of games go there and that space just isnt enough , if you have rootated phone you can try directory bind if you need more space for games files. Just look up how to use it. I hope one day I will be able to use external sd as normal storage.
i have the same eerror . oh my. .hope someone help us fix this error,,
Link2SD and 2nd partition pn SD
You will look for link2sd. The phone has to be rooted.
You will make a second partition to the sd.
Then link2sd will do the rest as soon it is set to automatically send data to the sd.
You will notice that most part of the p that you install will go to the second partition of the sd.
Sorry i have no permission tp send the link
Email me at [email protected], i will send you the link
It succeded to me.
But then i get the Insufficient storage available Message.
Do you know how to overcome that....?

I am having a serious issue.
On ES Explorer it shows:
I have a 64GB memory card in the phone and it has 18GB free
Internally of the 32GB I have 11GB free.
However, when I go to the Storage option it shows that I only have 1.25GB free on my internal card. This number goes to 200mb when Google Drive is installed:
Applicatiuons-2.71gb
Picutres,videos 424mb
Why is there such a massive discrepancy? Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? When I open Miscellaneous files it says System Memory 28GB then Whatsapp 749MB and Canon CW 650MB. Ok lets say I delete that but where is the other 28GB? See Misc files below. It has to be reading incorrectly in someway since my file apps show a lot more data free.
Google Drive shows 832mb used - in the app it says max cache size 50mb. All I can think is that I uploaded a 800mb video file to my drive from my phone and now its downloading this. I deleted the cache but when I start the drive back up it goes back to 800mb
found a .pictures folder but it had 1GB. After deleting available data stays the same.
I am really at a loss here, ES file explorer states I have 11GB free anyone?
How in the world is Miscellaneous files using 28GB!?!? Come on, its obviously being read incorrectly and causing me issues

It seems that you have 30GB of "Misc files" - if you click on those you should get more details.
Also in the future make an effort and post in Q/A stuff that is exclusively about your problems.

Ok,

Downloaded the analyzer app:
It shows everything basically free I can't figure this out, the only thing I can thing of is look at my 2 system partitions /system /data but those have a lot free too.
Phone is using Jelly Beans custom rom v5
Android Base 4.3
Baseband is: N900VVRUBMJE
Safestrap is on, how would I move the rom to the stock slot? Someone mentioned that if its not this is the cause of the issue... Doesn't make sense but is there a way to move it?

I did the KitKat upgrade to my Note 10.1 a couple of days ago. I'm now sorry I did that. Why? The external SD card changes make some of my apps, paid apps, unusable. One of those is AppMonsterPro. It backs up a copy of an APK just before the Play Store updates an app. This allows me to go back to a previous APK should the new version have bugs or create havoc. Unfortunately under KitKat applications can no longer create folders on external SD cards so AppMonsterPro can't do it's job.
Here's a quote from the developer: "Since Android 4.4 KitKat on dual-storage devices (internal / external) apps can no longer write files to external SD card. Some apps can, but only files, f.e. pics, but no folders. AppMonster must write folders in order to work. As long Google does not make SD card useful again, the only workaround is to use internal storage to store your backups."
Not only can't AppMasterPro create folders, I can't delete the folders that were there before KitKat using any file manager program. I have to take the SD card out and use a PC to delete them.
This is a screwed up mess and I would like to know if there's a method, via Odin, to go back to 4.3. Any help would be appreciated.

No offense, but if you're on XDA you should have seen this coming - the external SD issues have been discussed for months and there are even current threads in this forum that were started before 4.4 for the N10.1-14 was even released. You may as well suck it up and stay on 4.4. There are significant improvements, not just to the OS but Samsung's apps too. You're going to have to make the leap some time so you might as well just bite the bullet and figure out new ways to do what you used to do. Does your app that's broken support cloud storage? You might be able to have your backups saved in Dropbox.

Does anyone know if the bootloader was updated in 4.4? That's what'll brick a device and also trip KNOX. I'm not saying there won't be issues (AKA: I'm not responsible if anyone bricks their device) going from 4.4<>4.3 but it may work if the bootloader's the same.

Here's a potential work-around. Samsung's My Files can create/edit/delete both files and folders on the external SD card. Have your app save the backups to internal storage and then set up a dual-window instance of My Files in multi view and just drag and drop them to a folder(s) you've created on the external SD. It's a pain in the ass but a way to keep more internal memory free.
Those of us with 32GB can probably live with more stuff having to be kept on internal SD but folks with 16GB have a tough road to hoe.

Ok, help me. If I install the 4.4 USA image I have two questions. Is there a root for it? (If so can you point me to instructions.) What are the steps to negate the external SD card restrictions?
Yh, Google really messed up though they claim it's for security reasons. Apps can create folders but only the app that created the folder has access to the folder (for "security" reasons). Samsung apps have access to all folders, so the suggestion of using my files should work though it's a headache. My advice, root and be don't with it. The fact is going forward this is the new normal, don't mek sense get stuck on 4.3 as app support moves to 4.4 and beyond and you're there holding on like what happened with Mac OS 10.4, but that's just me. Re going back to 4.3 I did a nandroid backup before I went to 4.4 and did something that made me need to go back to 4.3 and redo the update. It went back using the nandroid backup without any issues, everything worked fine and I re updated and all was well too.
Hope you get it sorted.

You can root your Kit Kat ROM. The procedure is simple and is same as 4.3. Once rooted the fix for your External SD problem is straight forward.
You can follow this or install this app and let it do its thing. You should be good to go.

Would that put it on the SD card or the phone's storage? Also, if you wipe /data, wouldn't the files in /data/media get wiped too?
Also, another workaround is to sideload.
It's on phone's storage, and I think data wipe will wipe it. But that's the only option now) Sideload does require PC, I'm used to do everything on phone itself))
Oh, another suggested workaround is to use OTG if you have that handy.

Are you having to wipe the SD card everytime you flash a different ROM with adoptable storage? Found that out the hard way myself last time, and just wanted to make sure it's a consistent issue, and not something I messed up.

Can you confirm OTG would work while having adoptable storage? That could be great
I can't even get my adaptive storage to work anymore after switching roms,it crashes everytime after like few min (when formatting) when I reboot my sdcard shows as 15MB and have to format it in my pc lol
@Sabissimo
I had accepted that this was a bug and was forced to format as portable even tho I didn't want to. But I obviously need to be able to flash zips and make and restore nandroid backups.
I continue to look daily in hopes there will be a fix and this adaptable storage option in MM will be as we originally thought it would.
Has there been any other news on this?
Has anyone figured a work around, other than otg? That's is if it even works bec iv seen a lot of users saying otg did not work.
This is SUCH a let down. I also bought the 16gb purposely as someone else said.
I'm at least hoping there's a workaround that I just haven't heard of yet, that works.
This sucks.

do a full restore from the stock latest xml.zip, sounds like some partition issies.
also, idk if this is your first TWRP error, but it usually helps to go to advanced>copy logs and then upload said logs to the post you make
either try a stock restore with full wipe of data and everything else, or post logs so i can try and help you better than a guess

Update your TWRP to the latest. That fixed the problem. For me at least.
Update Twrp
Latest version of TWRP would fix error 255
Okay I had this Problem
1st of all Install Only This TWRP Recovery

This will solve your Problem
Now if you face error 7 then search that on youtube You will find the Solution for that, Its really easy
I had this problem and it took me two days to resolve it. I had a good backup and I know it was good because I had used it several times and it worked. But then after doing some system installs I got the error 255 when I tried to restore it. I tried several things to fix it and nothing worked and I really did not want to lose my backup. What did work for me was to use TWRP wipe function to FORMAT the phone. Wiping or factory reset did not work. I lost the contents of my internal SD card but I was able to transfer most to my external SD card. You could also connect the phone with a cable to a computer and use the pull command in ADB to backup the contents f the internal SD card. Given the choice between losing the SD card and the data files I come to lose some of the SD card. Anyway, a FORMAT worked when nothing else did. I read that this error is caused by a lack of space. When I checked the log it seemed that the restore was failing with a particular file which misled me to thinking I had to remove the corrupt file, but since after the format I was able to restore without any problem, it would seem that there was no corrupt data. Hope this helps someone.

???? I was merely raising the issue of space as appearing relevant to this issue. If you have any done any research or understanding of this, you would know most are treating it as a corrupt backup file. My experience was that it was not, as evidenced by the fact that once I freed space on my SD card by an internal format of it, the backup that did not work previous to the format worked fine. No data was corrupt.
