Hi there! It's been quite a while since I've posted to XDA. But recently I have had an issue with my Note 3 where the long press shortcuts on the samsung keyboard have disappeared, which sucks because I love that keyboard. Before you start throwing out "Just use such and such keyboard" I have swiftkey installed and I think the samsung keyboard was a lot faster for me personally to type on. Also I have already uninstalled the keyboard and reinstalled it for the same problem. Thanks for any info you guys have!

Apon looking at further posts found out that you can install Wanam Xposed and goto System then scroll down till you find Enable Keyboard Symbols then restart hope it helps
If you have wanam installed, it injects the Korean build.prop and I'm pretty sure that it canceled it out. You'll most likely have to edit build.prop to enable it again, but I haven't used Samsung keyboard since Fleksy came along.
I had this same problem after installing Wanam xposed. If u go into wanam settings under system and uncheck show keyboard symbols then reboot. Go back in again and recheck it and reboot again it will fix it....This about drove me crazy until I figured it out! Hope this helps
There is a separate xposed mod for the long press symbols called Samsung alt symbols. Also there is Samsung short delay to speed up the long press delay

I have both a Galaxy S and a Galaxy SII, and it seems Samsung removed the ability to double tap on a word to select it. I've seen some people say it's a Swype issue, but the stock keyboard behaves the same. Official NEE Gingerbread 2.3.3 on my Galaxy S does not behave like this (the SGS2 is running KE2 NEE).
And now for Swype. I can't seem to delete words from the Swype dictionary anymore. It used to be you double tapped on a word, and you could then tap the "Swype button" and it'd be removed. I've tried pretty much everything I could think of.
Also, you can't disable/remove the voice input button in Swype like you can with the stock keyboard?
Im wondering the same thing. It's very annoying.

Select a word (tap and select word) then hit the Swype ... then you can delete the word.
EDIT:
Used to work for me using Danish dictionary, but now it doesn't.
When I use English dictionary it still works!
Just updated from KE2 to KE7 .... very strange and very annoying :-(
Thanks. I can't get that to work though. I tapped once, then dragged the slider and tapped on "select word", then hit the Swype button and the Swype word suggestion toast pops up, but the word is still kept in the dictionary.
Hey, I found a solution. Use TitaniumBackup to remove Swype and then install Swype 3.0 (the latest beta) and then you should be able to select words the old fashioned way.

im using the stock samsung keyboard on my att s4 for texting inside google hangouts. i got the autocorrect feture a while back where it gives the sweeping replacement arrow on the left of the suggestions box then the two other suggested words on the center and right boxes, one day the arrow disappeared and the whole system acted more like the apple set up and i had three suggestions words and no arrow and the spacebar would auto replace with a spelling correction. now out of nowhere it has switched back to the sweeping arrow again. what am i missing here? i liked the three word setup much more. is this a setting im missing somehow of what??? or some sort of updated happening behind the scenes??
AT&T Galaxy i337 S4 MK2 rooted.
Did not like the original samsung s4 keyboard but that is my own thought as I was so used to using the Google Keyboard on Nexus 4
I currently use the SwiftKey beta keyboard app for my S4 and it working great
Before that I had the Google Keyboard which you can download from Playstore and give it a try
hey thanks for the reply, and sorry im so late getting back. thanks for the tip on the different keyboards. ive tried the google keyboard which i really like the simplicity of but i really like the dedicated number row on the stock s4 board. ive also tried the swift beta and its so close to perfect but ive really gotten used to the long press punctuation on the s4 also. i also dont care for the way i have to swype for the question mark on the swift beta keyboard.
my original question is a wierd one though and i dont think i asked it well. i think my issue is more with the auto correct feature than they keyboard. there is an arrow that shows up to dismiss the autocorrected word. that disappeared for a while and then it came back. i kinda liked the three word replacement better than the two words and the arrow. i was just curious why it switched and then switched back. and if i could choose it somehow.
I can't seem to be able to use the keyboard to type in the top app when I use multi-window. Pressing any key reverts me to the app on the bottom half of the screen. I'm using Swiftkey btw. Anyone know fixes? Thanks in advance.

I believe when you are using Stock Keyboard, you can detach it and move around when in Multiwindow mode. But i don't know about SwiftKey, play around in it's settings and see...

Wow bro i was exactly in this moment post this issue.
I have the problem to i cant type in the upper app whatever the app is, i also use siwftkey. Have you find any solution? this happened to me after upgrading to kitkat sm-n900.
I tried undocking swiftkey and it worked, but it can be the complete solution. There are some pics of different apps , another issue is that when i want to edit the multiwindow apps the option to go play store is not available.
I donĀ“t know were to look, if any of you know something please share
Thanks
Nope, sorry man. Currently i'm just sticking to swapping the top screen with the bottom whenever I need to type. Tedious though
I have this issue too. I noticed that the stock keyboard doesn't have this problem.
As a temporary solution I used tasker with the note buddy plugin to automatically switch the SwiftKey keyboard to stock.
I know it's just not the best solution since you always have to pull out the s pen, but it's something.
For those who don't have tasker, there's the SpenBoardswitcher.

Has there been and solutions or updates to this? Driving me nuts. I noticed that after I updated my note 3 to 4.4.2 on att this issue presented itself
Swiftkey doesn't support Multiwindow. It has never officially done so.
Ugh. Quite frustrating but it is what it is. Thanks for the response.
Well, this is weird! I have NOT switched the keyboard and am using the default Samsung one.
First few days using the Note 3, I had this AWESOME keyboard which had a tiny symbol as a secondary function of any button. I could easily pick all sorts of punctuation and symbols. Now, it's GONE! I can only see the usual letters & numbers and, for symbols, I must go click the symbol button.
How can I fix this? I want the keyboard with symbols as the alternate for letters in all places where I use the keyboard. I even had the feeling that it learned what symbols I use more often and had replaced less used symbols.
Clues?
Thank you!

Well try the keyboard settings in language and input first. .. maybe something switched...
Nothing seems to have changed and I can't even find any setting related to symbols. I even tried to reset settings. No luck .
If phone is rooted can use xposed module samsung alt symbols. Or try to delete either feature.xml ir others.xml in system/csc if both files are in the folder. If only 1 do not delete anything. Backup both before delete.

I believe your phone may have installed some major update (with or without asking you). At this point to re-enable that you will probably need to root first and then edit a (text) file - search around for a thread describing just that.
I had this happen to me when I installed wanam exposed. Under system you have an option that says "enable keyboard symbol" this option has to be checked.

And if you're not rooted, there's always SwiftKey. Free now, too.

Thanks lildoggs, I did what you said and it worked. My symbols are back! Hooooooraaaay! . Thanks to Rosli59564 too for the file tips. Luckily Xposed fixed it.
I am SURE that I did not uncheck that. Most probably it somehow reset my settings when I first started Wanam Xposed (which I did start some days ago).
Well, all is good now. Thanks for replying, all of yous .
Can't find the predictive text in the settings. Do you guys have that feature?
Well, this is pretty weird behaviour, and I spent a number of roll-backs of my phone suffering from same one, until I found the root cause of it. Go into Settings->Accessibility, and scroll to the bottom section, Services. Whenever you have some app there marked as ON - your keyboard gets limited in functionality, dunno why. I have 2 apps there, and I disabled both of them, to have wider options for my keyboard.
Hope it helps.

Wow, it worked. Thank you so much!
It seems like only some app will cause the problem. Optical Reader from Samsung will only disable my keyboard features, out of 6 apps.
UPDATE: I can now reorder my edge panels after disabling it.
OMG.. finally got my predictive text to work again. I turned off optical reader in accessibility and viola. It instantly returned!!! Thought I would never get it back!
