KitKat battery drain fix - Xperia Z General

I've tried this and its work for me.
1) Download Xposed installer from google store
2) Download WakeLock Terminator and add module to Xposed
3) Find Google Play Service in Terminator and set filter:
NetworkLocationLocator
NIpCollectorWakeLock
Checkin Service
NIpWakeLock
WakefullIntentService[GCoreUIr-LocationReportingService]

The Xposed installer was removed from the Play store quite a while ago. You need to visit the thread here on XDA to get it - Link

for me worked:
turn of location service
reboot phone
back to normal, but still have unlock bug + lags

It's not in the repo, probably because an in app purchase is required to unlock full functionality.
Here's the link to it on the Play store in any case - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.andro.wlt
Note that I haven't used it, so try at your own risk.

Hi guys, when I acces battery usage Google play service doesn't appear in 4.4.2.
I don't have any draining battery with Google play service and I can use XZ 1-2 days without recharging.
I'm the only one?

I don't have this problem. My battery seems to be the same as I had with JB 4.3

I have this problem in 4.3... don't think it's 4.4 related..

No problems here. I killed the Google plus thing, and the Sony social life app and I'm at 75% at 7.5 hours of up time. Phone says I should have another 18 hours to go at my current use rate. Today has been about the same usage as normal. For me the kk battery life is better.

If I say I can use it 1-2 days without recharging this doesn't mean I didn't recharged a little bit when I took the screenshot.
The phone was connected to my pc for 1-2 hours.
The battery can work 1-2 days with 1h calls in a day + 3h music in my headphones + 1h on internet with 4g.
Thanks,

if i use app disable service, where i can find it???

Maps consuming my battery

My maps are consuming battery of my phone. Even if I don't use it.
Why this is so? Around 15% of battery consumption is due to maps
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
root your device and use a program like autostarts from the market to freeze apps you dont want to start at boot , it simple and easy to do and youd be suprised at what starts up at boot in your app list .
i would then use titanium backup to freeze apps you dont use/need as this helps battery / ram / device from waking through apps telling it to etc etc
dont freeze maps obvously as you may need that and its important to have but defo stop it from starting at boot , unless you need it at boot but from your post you obvously dont
there is a list of stuff thats save to freeze on this forum the search bar is your friend
have a good day
Thanks but I don't wanna root my phone. Is there any other alternative?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
well even before i had rooted and stopped it at start , maps was never that high on my charts have you run latitude or anything? i heard this can drain battery in the background .
sounds like you have an app that is using maps in the back ground as on a normal set up (factory fresh etc) maps doesnt hammer the battery like that
it can probs be fixed by undoing an app or setting you have somewhere but its hard to say as its your phone and you know what youve done to it .
if it was factory fresh though i doubt/kinda know maps wouldnt be that high and draining battery though it never has on mine even when stock etc
hope you find the culprit soon but its hard to say what it could be as we dont know how you have it set up etc .
maybe try a fresh install??

I second these. I've logged off of latitude and the battery life has extended by at least 60 - 70%. I used to get like around less than a day of usage, but now it goes a little over a day and a half with moderate usage. (Bluetooth, GPS, Browsing on HSPA and WiFi)
Also if you have remote tracking turned on, this can show up as maps in the battery monitor.

Thanks every one for ur replies. Thanks a lot

You may have to reset maps in app settings to really get rid off it.
Clear data once I suggest, then the 1 minute wake calls will also be off, my experience.

why not it's highly recommended to root your phone, you can then freeze maps in titanium backup (and any other apps too)
not having the phone rooted is like having a computer without knowing the admin/root password
But there are some drawbacks of it also.
And if anything happens to my phone I will not be able to claim warrantee

Fixing Google play services battery drain

Ok so my phone would die after around 5-6 hours of doing nothing, I found by going to device administrators and disabling "android device manager" and then going to settings > apps > all > Google play services. You are now able to force stop the app. After doing this I have now have no battery drain and this don't seem to cause any other issues

I believe that you did not fully understand what the OP has stated in his first post. I think he might be on to something. I'm going to test it on my phone and (if I don't forget) I will report back. Turning off location for ADM would actually be a better solution for me than turning off location as a whole.
ok, and what I do at all is Setting > Locations > Google Location Reporting > TURN OFF Location reporting , TURN OFF Location history .
and the problem just fixed ..

I suggest that you'll be better off posting complaints (valid or not) or suggestions in the Sony support forum for the Xperia Z in future, where someone from Sony will actually see it.

It's just the powered cradle for the motorbike. Had few rides and in between used for 50 min google maps in a car without charging.
For me the problem would always creep back after a few days of use.
The way I fixed it was to disable location reporting, ads and automatic backup. I then rebooted into recovery and wiped Dalvik and Cache.
Now it's been over a week and Google Play Services doesn't even appear in the top list of battery usage anymore.
Hope this helps.

I just noticed the manage space button under play services where you can force stop it. Is this a kitkat feature? I never had access to it before. It actually crashed on me after I,cleared the cache the first time.. Weird
I have a few questions (sorry if they're unrelated):
1. If I disable location reporting, will google's android device manager be able to locate my phone?
2. If GPS is disabled in the action bar, are apps still able to use location reporting? If so, do they use wifi triangulation or do they turn on gps temporarily?

It's not necessarily on EVERYONE's phones. I didn't have this before and when GPlay Services updated I did. So no, it's not Sony's fault. Some people just don't understand that Sony does not have control over Google Play Services and what it does.
I also have access to both a Z1 and a Z2, both of which are running 4.4.2 and just disproves your claim even more.

Latest Google play services update is pissing me off

This is what I'm getting now since it updated just after Google i/o. I don't even know how to stop it. My battery has gone from 1+ days of usage to just about 16 hours with no other change. No new apps nothing. And these screenshots were taken after a reboot so I would imagine I'd have well over 1000 wakelocks from this thing. What's more look at the time stamps on the second and third images. Taken 7 minutes apart but I have 21 wakelocks in that short space of time.
Compare that to the wakelock crazy Facebook with only 11 in that same space of time. I don't even know what to do about this. Has never been this bad in my 2 months of owning the phone.
Any advice or recommendations to fix this? It's driving me crazy.
Also:
No I have no new apps.
No I didn't flash anything else.
My kernel was the same this entire time.
The phone gets mad hot for no reason.
Tried wakelock terminator on it but it only made it not want enter deep sleep all together.

If you have a look around the forum and the internet, you'll notice every device from every brand has this issue. Sony has it worse, they dont even last 7 hours.
Turn off Google data backup, opt out of personalized apps and turn off location services.
You could always just disable Gplay services for now. I'm not rooted and I've done it.

Google Battery drain

Got my mate 7 A few weeks ago. Love it. Getting awesome sot (8.5) the last charge mainly using mobile data..
But today google contact sync is draining so much battery. I've exported and deleted all contacts from google. Disabled back up my phone in settings and even disabled the app in settings and it still opens... I don't really want to have to root it. Any ideas I may not have tried?
Also wonder,my phone is rooted though, well, didn't want to freeze any Google services but some features like backup system is stubbornly running even after disable in settings. Don't know any good medicine from this issue.

How did you fixed it temporarily?
But the one million dollar question is: How much battery is lost while idle overnight?
This is the real question I think, because in all my tests, no matter the build version, I have got l least 5 hours of SOT (17 hours of use in total), which is not bad,
but most people get at least 7 hours SOT (in some 30+ hours) I guess I use it too frequently.
So, that would be the main question.
Please, do try to answer and tell us. Thank you!

Google Play Services draining battery in 3G/4G

Under WiFi, my OnePlus 5 makes 5 or 5 hours and half of active screen. Under 3G instead, battery leasts really less (about 3 or 3 hours and half) because Google Play Services spends a lot of battery: the same of Display in percentage. I tried to reset my phone and to reinstall software from adb too. Any solution for this problem?

Get Wakelock Detector Lite from the playstore and figure out exactly what function of the Google Services rip your battery apart.
I would recommend rooting the phone and disabling your culprits (for me it was net scheduling, safe to turn off).

I said Wakelock Detector LITE and not the rooted version. The rooted version is broken as the dev didn't update it yet.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
If you rooted your device with Magisk there's a module that allows Google Play Services to go into doze mode--normally it's exempt. You can also install the Greenify module which allows more aggressive doze than stock Android. Or you could go the route of identifying and blocking specific wakelocks as the earlier poster suggested.
Ok, this is the report form Wakelock Detector (phone battery was at 22%). What should I do now?
