Thanks for helping all of us Portuguese users.
This modem from Vodafone, can we use it with Optimus, for example?

Thanks

With odin you dont need root. Just flash your desireble modem as modem.bin in odin. Dont tick anything in odin. Just modem and thats It.
And modem is not a tar file for odin isso .Bin

Hey.
Also have a TPH S3 running ICS stock, bought in portugal. Tell me if you need anything from mine (you may need to tell me how to do it though)
Tph is in ics for now. The Bin file you can extract from original tar file. I think we dont need this now. Only will make sense when you use 4.1 roms. The point is to use latest firmware from Samsung With our specific modem. I m using lj5 (4.1.1) from índia and without The Vodafone modem Portugal I Get many network breaks. With The correct modem none. Thats The point. I advice you to update to lj5. And then flash The modem even for one of The 3 carriers. You will have a great gain in Android 4.1.1 on your S3.

[Q] Need advise about flashing an older ROM for my Note3

Good day guys! I'm new here at XDA, and with all this csc, rooting and flashing of roms thing and I just wanted to ask something about it.
I recently bought my friend's note 3 which originally had the Malaysian Rom (XME).. but before he sold the phone to me, he told me that he had updated/flashed the Singaporean Rom (MM1) on the phone.. I just wanted to ask, is it still possible to go back to the original XME Rom even though he had already flashed a newer MM1 Rom?? Would the phone still work as it should be with no problems/issues?? I hope someone could help me on this.. Many thanks guys!

You can try but if it starts looping reflashing the Singaporean rom should fix it.
Boot-looping just means it has a newer bootloader in this case. If possible I would suggest to make a backup of your EFS folder.

Thanks for the info mate! I'm now actually tempted to try what you have just said, but i worry about the backing up and restoring of EFS part.. It sounds hard and complicated. I think I'll just wait for an updated Malaysian Rom (XME) and then flash that one.. just to be on the safe side.. Cheers!
May i ask what happens if you try to downgrade to an old firmware?
You'll bootloop because the bootloader won't be able to boot it.

if your phone has been rooted AND if your friend had flashed the Singaporean Rom by using Mobile Odin Pro, you can fallback to the older firmware. Because the old bootloader was preserved by Mobile Odin Pro.
So ask your friend which tool he had used to flash the firmware.
BTW, why do you want to fallback to the older firmware? May be you notice some differences between XME and MM1 roms?

Hi..he said he never rooted the phone, he just flashed the MM1 rom because he wanted a newer rom on the phone. To be honest, I don't really know why I want to go back to the XME rom.. maybe because that was the original rom that the phone came with and I want the phone to be in it's original state again?
Plus.. when I connect to Kies, it says something about my phone not being supported for firmware updates.. and my csc is still XME and not MM1 which is the Singaporean Rom. I guess I just want my phone to go back to XME so that I can use firmware update on Kies..
Ok so you need to wait until XME has at least ML2 version and flash. No other choice.
IMO, from the point of usage, there is no major difference between XME and MM1 release. Btw, MM1 always has the newest firmware than XME.

MK/ML can downgrade to MJ7 - for whatever reason Samsung allowed it, assume it is because they closed whatever security loop and have deemed MJ7 the safest bootloader to fall back to.

the battery drain on mk2 btu is horrible, and im guessin 02 wouldnt release firmware without testing it properly
By the way, I was able to flash XSI Mj7 over SER MK2. I did it by wiping system partition in TWRP, after which flashing went through with no issue

Yeah I was able to do it.. no wipe, no factory reset.. I just flashed it with odin, and all my files/settings are still there! Some people commented here that it was not possible but for some reason it worked.. I just thought that if I encounter any bootloops I'll just flash the MM1 Rom again.. luckily I didn't have to.

How to flashback to branded firmware?

hey guys ive been told you cannot go back to older firmwares (dunno whether that counts branded ones like 02)
but is there any way around it? surely there must be a way?
im guessing seen as 02 had there hands on the software for so long they managed to fix the battery drain...
cheers

has anyone been able to gain root on this rom? it doesnt seem to root for me. ive tried superuser.zip, multitool v6, cf auto root..nothing seems to stick. and i have experience rooting other 4.3 roms so im wondering if something changed in this rom that breaks root. i know this rom has the most recent change list.
root works fine for me. anyone notice any battery improvement? mine is still horrible...doesn't seem like they've fixed the crazy battery drain that was introduced with the 4.3 update

If your phone is rooted then try this by installing the Kit Kat stock TouchWizHome.apk by moving it to system folder and then changing permission then move it into priv-app folder.
This is from Note 4 and delete the TouchWizHome.odex file as well and reboot.
View attachment TouchWizHome.apk
This is from Samsung Galaxy S5 Kitkat but not sure to remove or replace the odex file and reboot.
View attachment 3049349
Back up your TouchWizHome apk and odex file to SD card or create a recovery backup such as CWM first as I not tried or it will work so you can restore original files.
WTF Really it is not possible to downgrade to kitkat stock 4.4.2 when you install Lollipop? Fk Samsung, will not install stock if it's like this.

It seems some people are able to downgrade and some not.
I downgraded successfully to 4.4.2. I wiped everything (even /system) [with Philz Touch] and restored my 4.4.2 Nandroid-Backup. After the restore i wasnt able to boot the system successful, so i flashed the latest 4.4.2 via odin (G900FXXU1ANJ1_G900FXEO1ANJ1_XEO). To restore root and my custom settings i just flashed Philz Touch again and restored my /system folder from my Nandroid-Backup again.

The KNOX version now is 2.3 when downgrading knox can cause problems so i'd wait for newer 5.0 firmwares to flash
You should have done a CMW backup (4.4.2) before the upgrade to Lollipop (5.0)
With the (4.4.2) backup you would have been able to revert the system back to 4.4.2 but leaving the baseband not downgraded since Lollipop.

You should have done a CMW backup (4.4.2) before the upgrade to Lollipop (5.0)
With the (4.4.2) backup you would have been able to revert the system back to 4.4.2 but leaving the baseband not downgraded since Lollipop.

i downgraded for the lollipop to kitkat firmware and this is what i did:
1. BACKUP EFS , THATS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.
2.flash TWRP with odin.
3.go to recovery and wipe data and system and cache
4.flash the kitkat firmware via odin
5.it will not boot so go back to download mode and
reflash the kitkat firmware again via odin
6.boot to recovery then wipe data/factory reset
7.boot to system and YAY it works
