Calls not coming through - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone had issues not receiving calls? I have had several calls that did not come through but did go to my voicemail. I had my wife call me but my phone never rang. We were standing right next to each other. I have a stock Verizon model with the kit Kat update.

No one else has had this problem besides me? Wonder what is going on with my phone?

I've had this with mine, a mate said he'd been trying to call me a couple of days ago and just kept getting to answerphone.
The phone was next to me in a good signal area. I think I was running CloudyPro rom at the time if that has any bearing on it.

Nexus 4 help with setting up T-Mobile $30 prepaid plan !!

Hello xda!
Okay, so I seem to have some very very bad issue with my brand new Nexus 4. It is currently on the latest JDQ39 radio, unlocked and rooted. So here''s where the actual issue lies.
So to make it a long story short, I bought the $30 prepaid plan on the walmart website. You know, called up T-Mobile activated it, plugged in my SIM card and all, I dial #BAL# and everything's how it should be! BUT.. I decide to send a text to inform a friend of my new number (coming from US Cellular) and it takes a good long while for it to actually send.. about 2 minutes.. I think to myself," Something's wrong.." so I decide to call a random person to make sure I've got my service. It says dialing, then "Call ended" every single time! Can anyone tell me if it's an APN Issue? Or what do I do! I am panicking! I need to have service..!!! My signal strength is -91dBm and 8 asu
It's set to WCDMA preferred, and I'm honestly lost and helpless.. HELP PLEASE!
I've also restored my stock nandroid!
Bump..

They put up a ticket, refreshed me on their tower, reconnected and disconnected, still not working. The only workaround was to use 2G only instead of actually taking advantage of the HSPA+ data. It bothers me but at least it works..

Try calling 1-877-789-3106. This is the T-Mobile porting department. I had a delay of 3 days trying to port my number from Verizon to T-Mobile. I called this number, and they were able resolve the issue right away.
Although the rep said it could take 24 hrs, I got a text msg that my number had been activated on T-Mobile as I was ending the call.
BTW, I am very happy that I switched! $30/month for 5GB of 4G data!

Weak signal, poor reception, dropped calls

Anyone else having these issues? I've noticed that places I always had at least 1-2 bars with my note 2 I will not have any service with my note 3. Also I have been dropping calls in areas that I never did. Could this be my new sim card or should I exchange my phone? I also feel that my wifi connection stability/range is slightly worse than before.
Mine is the same way, don't get the signal my note 2 would and 4G is weaker also .

I hope this is just a first software or sim issue. Or at the very worst a first production run issue. I will likely be bringing mine to Verizon this weekend to test and new sim or exchange if that doesn't make any difference. Annoying.
Idk how much it will help you but I noticed I was in 3G a lot of the time as well. Definitely more than my N2, I switched my preferred network to LTE/CDMA instead of Global and I now have 4GLTE way more. As far as the wifi and phone reception, I myself haven't noticed any huge difference but I did read the international version of the N3 already received 2 updates and they supposedly not only improved the wifi and antenna signals but also battery life. Who knows when we'll see an update though. We are on Verizon.

Tried that and it actually made my signal significantly worse. I switched back to global and my problem seems way worse tonight than any day this week. Can barely hold onto a signal in places that I never had an issue before. Battery pull didn't help at all. I constantly get a message that says I can't send messages and then asks me to retry. Frustrating, will be going to Verizon tomorrow or Friday to return/exchange
Just now noticing this
I wonder if this has anything to do with being rooted? it seems like I just started dropping calls like crazy just today. I do remember getting the sent error on some text messages, though I can't remember if that started befor or after rooting.
Haven't had a single issue with signal or dropping calls. Also my 4G speeds are pretty insane. I'm thinking there are some units with defective radios.

[Q] 4G issues

Hello, i am unable to get 4g on my g2. It is international version. Any ideas on how to solve this? I have alresdy called my telco and requested forb4g to be on. Unfortunately still no 4g after 2 days..
Same problem with my d802.
No clues how to fix it..

My friend recently had an issue with his 4g cutting out. Airplane mode being toggled on and off seem to bring it back, but only for a short amount of time. Finally found a thread on VZW forum of people having the same issue. I'll link to it when I find it again...
Come to find out it was the sim card. Got a replacement and had solid 4g with no cut outs. Unfortunately my friends G2 screen died the next day so he couldn't reap the benefits lol

Hey guys- I'm having this same issue, on my D801 with CM10.2 and DarkPA (tried both). Started yesterday evening - my phone automatically switches back to GSM/WCDMA preferred no matter what I pick. It's only picking up 3G/H+. I'm in the Chicago area.
I called TMobile and they gave me some BS about it being my tower, but also software issue, etc etc. The guy was just saying things. Still no luck. I am going to go to the TMo store today to see if a new SIM card will fix it.
EDIT: Turns out the cell tower near me is just being strange. I can walk down the street and get LTE, but when I walk towards my apartment the LTE dies and switches to 3G/H+. Weird.
Hi, thanks for replies. I got my 4G overtime. Happened to my brother as well. He waited 2 weeks before getting 4G. And btw, is H H+?

[Q] New RAZR M - flaky, should I return?

Just received my new RAZR M 2 days ago and initially it seems to have a much worse antenna then my cheap old Nokia C2 which is disappointing to say the least.
With my old C2 i could easily make and receive calls everytime with no problems if i walked out to the end of my driveway, and i could send and receive texts inside my house if i held it in the sweet spot (I live in rural area close to a city) but the RAZR wont get any signal at all except for maybe a couple of seconds, it cant even receive texts. Also i parked right beside a cell phone tower today with nothing but clear air in between me and the tower and made a call and the 15 minute call dropped once. I was calling an iphone with 5 bar signal so i think it was my RAZR that dropped the call. While parked here my signal was only 4 bars -57db. In this exact spot i always got full bars with my nokia and never dropped a call.
So does anyone know is this typical behaviour for the RAZR or should i return it and get a replacement? Or is there any ways to fix this prob? From some research i have done i hear that the radio gives trouble in this phone and a custom ROM will likely make it worse.
Any info/ opinions anyone has would be gratefully received...
I would definitely return it. I've always had good signal on my M. Motos are supposed to have pretty good radios, so it definitely seems like something is wrong with your phone.
I agree with RikRong. Or try a new Sim first. But no, that doesn't sound typical.

Thanks guys.
When you say try a new sim do you mean a sim with a different provider or do you mean the actual sim card itself could be faulty?
New sim card from same provider.

deffinelty sned it back, its only gonna get worse over time

VZW dropped calls, no network available?

When i first got my note 3 on VZW it worked great and i had service everywhere the LTE was fast no dropped calls.
Since then it has been all down hill now i get dropped calls in the middle of town and errors saying no network available it will also be in 3G a lot when i know there is LTE and switches back forth between the two.
So is it the phone or VZW? It's never been rooted.
I posted in the VZW support forums and other report the same issues and VZW is no help.
I'm ready to cancel my contract because of it.
Using
4.4.2 stock
last update was MJE_to_NC4
Anyone? Should i just try root and go back to MJE?
You can try with another phone also on VZW and compare them
