I reuploaded to a better site
Been using this for a little over 12 hours and despite the new enhancements and slightly faster running speed, I've had nothing but problems with:
- Touchscreen response is all over the place
- Had to uninstall Swype as touchscreen was making things up as it went
- Connectivity with wifi is patchy, connectivity with mobile data is questionable at best
- Sync issues related to connectivity
- Battery drain is significantly higher.
Is this an official Neo FW or something that's been compiled from the Arc release? If so, might be best to wait until the Neo FW is released properly. The update works beautifully on the Arc, but on the Neo (I have both handsets) I'm flashing back to rooted 2.3.2 and applying 2.3.3 OTA to await the new OTA build.
I recommend flashing via Wotanclient. Then unlock bootloader.
Thanks to Bi4ary, rooting newest Xperia firmware(4.0.A...) is very simple and safe.
First you need RootXperia.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130639 Put it on your SDcard.
Then fastboot recoveryNeo.img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183465
In recovery install RootXperia.zip
Now if you want to relock bootloader, then get this ftf, made by Blagus from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335
Remember to thank our fine developers for such great tools!
(I hope that RootXperia.zip stays maintained by Bi4ary)

This worked for me 100% as posted in the other thread. No issues here. Just a faster phone,
No issues whatsoever with the hk-firmware. The only thing i've noticed is that the camera sound can not be disabled (not even in third party apps), but I suppose thats only because of the rules and laws in HK that does not allow silent cameraphones. It's however easily fixed when rooted by switching the sound files in the systems media folder.
Hello,
I have a MT15a, would that work on it or is it ONLY for MT15i?
Thanks!

It means that person had a problem with their touchscreen. It is not related to the update, it was just an individual error.
You can update without any problems using PC Companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service (recommended).

Is it DE only or european one?
I mean, if this is the wifi only version shouldn't be the european multilanguage one?
Or sony makes IT, DE, UK and so?
Thank you for your help.

Each country has an individual firmware. Most noticeable change is on setup the language is default to that country.
There may also be some variations within the remote control app.

Actually since I can choose my language "Italian" from the rom it works out of the box, I can easily root it, but I can't update then to 370, it downloads the update, start to apply then after a few seconds reboot and gave errore message (generico:impossible to update).
If I'll do that with kyes I'm pretty sure it will destory the root.
I'm not a "root maniac", but I would like to restore apps+apps data from my S4 to Xperia Tablet Z as done with the new nexus, and I need root for that.
AdAway would be nice to use too...
Well, I'll try to find if it's a root problem or DE rom on IT tablet problem, but I'm pretty sure that the tablet is downloading the right update, so maybe it's the root stuff that cause troubles
ROM downloaded with XperiFirm and pre-rooted with PRFCreator.
CDA (customization version): 1280-7864
It will flash SuperSU and LockedDualRecovery (it will overwrite your current recovery).
You need to be on any rooted ROM already with custom recovery to flash a .zip file with this firmware!
You don't loose any data, you keep root, you update your firmware to the newest Lolipop build .270.

Tnx guys !!
5.1.1 update seems is not that far away.
On my Nexus 7 2013 working perfect, final and polished version.
Hope same will be on a Z1 compact, .242 firmware is fine for me, except ocassional ram/redraw apps problems, typical for 5.0.2 android.
Can someone check please if there's an Hebrew keyboard?
Hi,
I searched for instructions flashing from .zip file but I couldn't find any. Could you please describe the steps?
Thanks and regards.
You can flash this only if you have Custom Recovery flashed in your phone. If you have then boot into it, choose Flash .ZIP file or similar feature and you flash it. You have to put the .zip file on the SD card before this step.
If you don't have Custom Recovery or don't know how to use it - this is not a thread for you, sorry.

Now I have a doubt, if I flash this in Spain, would it work? Is Europe, but no central...
Does Xposed work fine with this update?
Hello , will we receive next update 14.5.A.0.283 ???? Or will we have to update through pc companion or so please ?????
Thanks
I will post .283 version when it will be available for Central Europe region. So far it's available for T-mobile branded regions only.

The version of this PRF is 5.0.2, the 5.1.1 has not been released by Sony yet.
He meant if he will get the update notification once Sony releases 5.1.1 with this ROM installed. My thoughts are probably yes you will get notification since this is stock basically.

No. You can reinstall stock ROM and have the tablet working as before, but after installing anything custom the efuse will be blown. This means that it can always be detected that custom firmware/kernels/recovery/root/etc have at one point been installed. It also means security containers like Knox will refuse to operate.
I tried out the October (J) release for T815 which has been released for DBT (Germany) and a few other places. (link here). PDA version: T815XXU2AOJ4. Included CSCs: BTU (UK), DBT (Germany), ITV (Italy), XEF (France), XEO (Poland). Android 5.0.2. Previously I had the latest release for PHN (Netherlands), which is still T815XXU1AOG9.
Stagefright bug fixed according to Lookout. Not fixed according to Trustable.
New app icons
Still no multi-user
For DBT, there are four German bloatware apps included. All four can be uninstalled without root.
No Camera2 API
Dialer doesn't accept the secret codes like *#06#, *#0*#, *#1234#
Weird display behaviour (flashing, freezing) at very low battery percentages
Warning: you can not fully downgrade from this version "2" firmware to the version "1" firmwares we had until now! You can partially downgrade if you leave the bootloader and the modem as is (so downgrade only PDA and CSC).
This is great. Any chance that someone has the Stock ROM for the SM-T817V? Or does the firmware for the T815 work on this device?
The October T815XXU2AOJ4 version is now also out for T815 in the Netherlands (PHN), which is bloatfree. No other CSCs included. Link here. The dialer accepts the secret codes like "*#1234#" again. Otherwise the experience is the same. Again, you can't downgrade from this version.
Can the 5.1.1 update be flashed on any SM-T810?
I purchased one in Australia and when I tried to follow the instructions and flash with ODIN I get an error SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE when using 5.1.1_T810XXU1BOH7_T810XAR1BOH7_XAR.zip
I had and un-rooted device, which just received an update (11/03) to version LMY47X.T710XXU2BOJ1. I ended up rooting and flashing TWRP on it, but I'm having an issue writing to my external SD card. Is there something I can flash to fix this?
Thanks
edit: Google was my friend - manually updated platform.xml.

The T810XXU1BOH7 firmware is very old (H = August I think). Apparently for your device it constitutes a downgrade, which it doesn't allow. Download the most recent firmware to flash. If e.g. you currently have firmware with a "2A" (5.0.2) on your device, you can't flash this "1B" (5.1.1) firmware even though it seems like an upgrade of android, because it is a downgrade of the bootloader. Download firmware with "2B" (5.1.1) in the name and I think it may work.
I don't have the T810, but T815 which is still stuck at 5.0.2...
Is it possible to flash a T710 firmware onto a T715 device? I don't need LTE at all so I don't mind losing it (I have no SIM). I just want to get faster updates because I need multi-user support from 5.1.1.

If you want to retain the fingerprint sensor operation, don't flash to US. People here have in the past recommended either DE or UK, as they tend to be updated promptly. No unlocking of bootloader needed.
Okay guys. I'm ready to flash a new firmware, probably Customised UK. Is the guide on xperiablog up to date and accurate? Also, there is a flashtool by Androxyde on flashtool dot net, but there is also a flashtool on Sony Developer World. Which one should I use?
There is only one xperifirm so that's unambiguous, at least.
Edit: also, it doesn't affect user data or the OS in general, does it?
I can only speak from personal experience with the Androxyde flashtool. I've never tried (nor even known about) the Sony flash tool. In my experience, if you don't make any changes to the default settings, the existing user data is carried over into the newly installed firmware. I'm assuming here that you're flashing from one variant of Android 8.0 to another, not from Android 7 to 8, etc.
BTW, I would always advise backing up your data first, of course. If, for some reason, you are dissatisfied with the result, you can normally get a factory installation of your currently-installed firmware by using software restore from SONY (as part of Xperia Companion).
@pseudonym58 Thanks. Is the guide on Xperia blog the one to follow or is there a better one out there?
I don't recall which guide I used. It basically runs like this:
Run Xperiafirm from within flashtool; it will refresh available software. Choose particular phone model and download desired firmware. Back in flashtool proper, connect phone in flash mode. Select downloaded firmware, which is unpacked and prepared for flashing. As I mentioned above, you should not need to make any configuration changes to the default. Flashing can now begin (it might seem to pause temporarily from time to time but don't cancel process).
Don't worry about warnings of missing elements; I have never had a flashing procedure fail as a result of a claimed missing component.
This is just a general procedure; perhaps someone else can recommend the best full tutorial.
Ok so CE1 got the newest (.107) update right now so it can probably be used too.
