Hi, I've been having problems since flashing a custom rom which is kitkat. When wiping and restoring I get an error along the lines of "android secure file missing" and something to do with am external SD card not being detected even though I've never had one on this phone.
When I try and flash a new Rom, I wipe everything and flash. Everything appears to be successful and then I reboot and it just stays on the boot screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

After installing miui.us 1.7.22 the sd card won't mount to the phone. And after going to the backup of stock ROM the phone starts up saying sd card unexpectedly removed. And even after doing a factory reset and wiping both cache the problem still persists.
Can anyone help me?

Well, if removing it and replacing it while booted into the rom doesnt work,
and neither did a full wipe, I would say you could try a different rom, to see if you get that same problem, and if you dont, then you know its the ROM. I would also try reflashing.
If no one else has had this issue, then it could just be something you did
So it ended up being the sd card itself. After reformsting the card it worked. Thanks though

So yesterday I rooted my Atrix and loaded CM7 on there. Everything was going fine. I then started seeing errors saying that my SD was unmounted or not found while in the OS. I tried looking it up and all I could find was that I should try formatting so I wiped everything off it, didn't work. So now I went into ClockworkMod recovery to reset to factory and now it's not booting up to the OS at all. It just sticks at the logo screen where it says "Unlocked". I am able to get back to recovery screen but that's it. I can't access the SD card at all because it's empty and it can't find it.
Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?
Reinstall CM7. you can enable USB mode from recovery, just copy the CM7 zip back on from your computer, and you should be good to go.

Did you wipe the internal or external?
If I were you I would do a complete fastboot wipe and flash another ROM. That way you eliminate a bunch of possible problems.
When I try to mount USB storage, it says "Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
Also, I wiped the internal one. I don't have an external SD. And how do I do a fastboot wipe?
Do you think it might work if I got an external SD card and put the files on there? Then try to flash CM7 from it?
Hi All, have a problem i have s-off and engineering h boot but at present every time i go into CWR it doesn't recognise my sd card keeps coming up with error .... any ideas would be grateful.
When the phone is running etc.. I the phone sees the SD card weird I have formatted the card to Fat32 but still zip
Did you update cwr or try 4ext recovery?
Yes have tried both updating and 4 ext still no joy .... trying factory reset to see how that goes otherwise I am stuck
Change your sd card

My S4 will not boot when my sd card is inserted. I have tried multiple sd cards of different classes, brands, and size. I am running MK2 stock rom with root.If I do a factory reset and wipe the sd card the phone will root. Google will install all my apps and everything will work fine. But when I move more than a couple apps to the sd card (all of the apps are games nothing system related) it will not boot the next time I power off the phone and restart it again. It will hang at the glowing samsung screen. It actually looks like it tries to boot a couple times because the phone will gently vibrate while on the screen and the back light on the soft buttons will go off and come back on a few times. I even let the phone sit for over half an hour a couple times and no luck.
I am on MK2 firmware using the Modem MK2 from this forum not an OTA update. And I am on a MJA bootloader with the counter tripped. I updated to using a stock rooted MK2 rom from this site as well. But the problem started before I updated to the new stock rom and firmware.
It might also be worth noting that I am using the latest version of Philz Touch Recovery, but after I odined the latest recovery and flashed the MK2 modem, little yellow words now appear in the upper left hand corner of the Samsnung Galaxy S4 flash screen. They are too small for me to read. I reflashed Philz and the modem, but the little yellow words didn't go away and everything worked fine until I started moving apps to the SD card.

First, the little yellow words. That happens because you have a custom recovery installed. Started appearing with MJA and the implementation of the Knox enabled boot loader. No way to get read of them except to flash back to full stock/stock recovery. Don't worry, it won't affect your phone operations.
On the sdcard problem, how is your card formatted? Unless the kernel supports exfat or ntfs, you are better off formatting the sdcards for FAT32. This is the only formatting convention that works on all versions of Android. You can also try formatting the sdcard in recovery.
Thanks for your response. I formatted the SD card using the format option in settings/storage. I also formated the SD card using Phillz recovery and used the default formatting option.

I will try from my computer when I get home. Don't have an adapter with me right now. And no it still would not boot. But if I remove the card and let the phone bout it will. Then I insert it after the system had finished loading everything and it runs fine after that. All the apps on it are recognized and I can run them without issue. Until of course I have to reboot for whatever reason. It's kind of weird.
Okay I did a quick format using fat32. And formatted the SD card using my laptop. I still had the same issue. It does not seem to bother anything once the phone has booted, but if I let it try and boot with the SD card in there it will not. I am going to do a long format and see if that helps.

I remember seeing this problem posted a long time ago. Turned out to be something with the software on the phone. If I remember right, the only way the person was able to fix it was do a factory reset and then odin the stock tar to the phone. You will lose everything on internal memory but at least your phone will work properly.

I did a full format and the phone still would not boot. I am going to try your suggestion. I think the software on the phone is probably the most likely culprit since the phone does not actually have a problem reading from the SD card at anytime except when booting. I usually flash using Phillz, but I will do a factory reset. Format everything that is an option in Phillz and odin the stock tar.
I formatted everything on the phone that I could through Phillz, did a factory reset and flashed the stock MK2 rom through odin. It worked!! I am not able to boot my phone with my SD card in without issue. Thanks a lot!
Good day,
I am having problem with my lg optimus l3 e400. I just rooted it the other day to solve the memory problems of the phone. It has been working fine until today. What happened was, it just turned off and whenever i turn it on, it goes directly to cwm recovery, which has been installed during the root process thru ROM manager app. I also found out that the SD card is corrupted. I had to format the SD card and tried pasting stock ROM's but it still doesn't boot and still goes to recoovery everytime I turn it on. I tried to format the device, the cache, and the other format options in recovery mode but the issue is still not solved. Can anyone please help? And if possible, give me a step by step guide because I'm kinda new at this. Thanks.

If you highlight the reboot option and then press the power key what happens?Does the phone reboot? If not somethings gone wrong...Anyway try flashing another custom ROM(cyanoid, for example @linuxxx)Does CWM recovery mount the SD card?Did you flash SD merge and you aren't using a SD merge compatible kernel?Anyway you can't flash stock roms from the phone. You must use the good old KDZ(How many times did he save me....)

Can you guys give me a link? i'm having a hard time looking for stock roms and i don't even know how to distinguish stock rom and custom rom. the sd card that was working before the happened got corrupted but after inserting it to another phone and formatting the sd card, it seems to be working and the sd card can be mounted. i'm not sure with the sd merge compatiility with the kernel but it worked for a few days so i think it is compatible. the phone does not reboot. whenever i reboot it or turn it on, it just goes to recovery mode. thanks.
