Any Rom ZVC Compatible Yet? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been on Stock ZVC Rooted for the past few months and there are some things driving me nuts about it. For one the navigation bar at the bottom is too sensitive and I accidentally hit the home button when I am doing things and 2, the portrait to landscape mode is too sensitive. The 2 questions I have as of right now is there any ROM updated for ZVC yet and if not, is there a way to install the Xposed Framework Module on Stock ZVC being rooted?

Not sure what you mean about if there's a "ROM updated for ZVC yet"
Are you asking if there's a ROM based on the stock ls980 ROM?
And as far as I know regarding xposed... Go right ahead and install the apk as long as your running on dalvik and not on ART. But i might be wrong about xposed since I haven't been running on a stock for a while

Wasn't sure if the Cyanogenmod team, or any others had updated their roms to work based on the latest version on the LS980 aka ZVC aka stock kitkat but before the release I know some people said they had issues due to kernel differences/bootloader issues/etc, I don't have a custom recovery running stock zvc at the moment, just rooted.

Early on there were some problems getting custom recovery, however Cloudyfa developed AutoRec which is a app that installs a custom recovery (TWRP) without any hassle whatsoever.. All you gotta do is install the apk for the ls980 which can be downloaded from here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=13763 M
Make sure to read the full OP for AutoRec: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
Now this is my preferred method to install cm
1) make a nandroid backup, wipe everything besides internal storage
2) downgrade your modem to ZV8 from ZVC (the reason for this is that the cm kernel is not compatible with the ZVC modem)
3) flash the latest nightly
4) flash pa gapps
5) reboot system to enjoy a crisp and clean cm rom
Link to all the G2 modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451426
Also please note that this method takes away the ability to have sprint spark.
Another thing... if you ever want to restore your nandroid backup make sure to flash the ZVC modem first

If I flash the Furnace AOSP kernel and the ZVA modem instead I'll get spark, right?

[Q] Unable to boot Stock based ROMS [D800]

Hey everyone, sorry if this question has been answered already. I have sifted through pages and pages in this forum and haven't found a solution for my D800.
My G2 is rooted, with TWRP installed. I was successful in flashing Paranoid Android v4 beta 4, and 5. The problem arises when I try to flash LG Stock based ROMS. After TWRP says flashing was successful and I try to reboot, the screen shows LG logo for a second and turns blank!! That's it just a clear black screen, and the ROM doesn't boot at all.
The ROMs I tried and failed to boot:
1. Aeon
2. Korean stock based rom
3. Scott's CleanROM
4. Rayglobe 3.2
5. Rayglobe Flex ROM v4
Now, I know that sometime ROMs take time to boot on the first run, so I even tried leaving it at the blank screen for 15-20 mins with no result. Since it has been the same result for multiple ROMs, it definitely isn't a bad install or a bad ROM download either. I hope not
Is there anything I am missing in the steps? All ROMs were installed after factory resetting through TWRP (no dirty flash). I am baffled with this, please let me know if I need to revert to software version "d" for these ROMs to work?
TIA

Did you factory reset after as well? If I recall correctly Paranoid Android is AOSP. What kernel are you running?
sounds like you are onn the 10o update. You will need to flash back to stock 10d with lg flash tool and then root and install recovery again. Then you should be good to go on flashing roms. I know that some of the newest versions of TWRP and Philz have issues flashing some roms too so that may also be the cause. If you downgrade the recovery you have to the version right before it may fix your issue also

Exactly, AOSP ROMs are booting up fine but not the Stock based ones.. I am not flashing any kernels, just the ROM, so I'm assuming it will run on either the stock kernel or the kernel included in the ROM zip?
Have you been successful in installing such ROMs? Am I missing something in the wiping part? Only been doing the factory reset in TWRP before installing any ROM.
Check m
And make sure that you are running the stock kernel. Are you on the 10o update?

Yes I am on 10o.. Does it have issues with installing other Stock ROMs? If yes, I'll try to follow the thread on using LGFlash tools, I've never done that before. Hopefully its not much difficult to follow the instructions.
That is one of the easiest guides to follow. Be sure to follow the correct set of instructions(depends on carrier) and download the the 10d version.

I'm stuck in the process! Can't change the com port number to 41. The guide is pretty easy to understand. But when I put my phone is download mode and try to change the com port number, it says I don't have the write privileges for this device's setting. I've tried it on both Win 7 and Win 8 laptops, with LG mobility drivers installed.
Is there something in the phone settings I need to enable so that I get the write privileges to change com port number?

Yay!!! Finally did it!
Issue 1: If faced with write privileges for com port (tried successfully in Win 8)
Solution: After going in to com port properties, click "change settings" and there is the option to change com port number.
Issue 2: Once the port number was changed to 41, rest of the instructions are easy to follow on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2633150
Once on D80010d, I rooted with ioroot22, and installed recovery using FreeGee. Just installed Rayglobe 3.2 minutes ago, and it finally booted up!!!
So, the bottomline is that go back to D80010d if you wanna play with Stock based ROMs! I flashed with TWRP 2.6.3.3, so the fault is not with the recovery. That much I can confirm
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Thread solved I guess.
Great. Glad to hear it.

Thanks for the input. Before I flashed back to D80010d today, I installed older versions of Philz and TWRP but neither helped. So downgrading was sort of a compulsion, in my case at least.
and the moral of the story is, unless you are getting an android version upgrade in the update, do not take the update.

[Q] How to enter TWRP on stock Kitkat firmware?

Hi Guys,
So I tried the new stock Kitkat firmware for my d802. Flashed the KDZ through support tool. I lost root as expected.
Then I started to miss root and control over my phone, so I wanted to go back to Jellybean.
After some difficulties I got the support tool working in offline mode. Flashed Jellybean stock KDZ.
Rooted the phone again and installed recovery.
Converted the stock KitKat rom to a flashable zip, and copied it to SD card.
I flashed the zip and all went fine.
Anyhow, when I wanted to return to recovery it did a factory reset instead, and now I can start all over.
Do we have a solution to this problem?
Thanks.

We are waiting for LG to release KitKat kernel sources for D802 before a solution can be made, but it does require you to go back to JB again and then flash a KitKat rom with the modified kernel in order to keep your custom recovery

Thanks. I thought that if it was a flashable zip, I could always return to custom recovery, but of course it is the content of the file that needs to be modified. I'll wait.

it would not be just a modified kernel it would be an entirely modified zip with parts from 4.2.2 and 4.4.2 so that it can support custom recovery like in jb but be able to boot into kk in fact the only reason we need the kernel source is because we have to add some lines so it can allow jb and kk partiotions to work together

T-Mobile's D801 is having problems with root on 4.4.2 because of issues with stock recovery, but they have a dedicated thread which you can check out and read often to see if they figure out how to root it
Recovery is now available without all the downgrading hassle, as long as you rooted with ioroot25 you can:

2) for Verizon g2 owners only you can check out Freedom Tools

Bugs/Fixes(When I have more time I'll add more as I find them)
Apparently there is a bug in which when using auxiliary cables/headphones where there is a crackling/hissing sound in the background, I cannot comment on this since I have not experienced it and I use auxiliary cables every weekend for dj stuff and I also use headphones at least once everyday. There is now a fix for this using G2TweaksBox
So I remember from the very beginning everyone complained that there battery was being drained by Bluetooth right after flash without ever wiping/factory resetting, but I have been using kitkat for about two months now and if after 12 hours it's used 5% then wow that's not a drain, the Bluetooth now works in a low energy state just like Wi-Fi so that even if it's off it's always on in a low energy state which means its not draining your battery.
When I have more time I will add more stuff that is stock kit kat related

After rooting stock KK with ioroot25, isn't it possible to install a recovery? you just need to flash a patched kernel with loki enabled after flashing the recovery to boot back into "stock" rom

The only way is to have recovery on JB then flash Kk baseband for your variant and one of the Kk roms that use the patched kernel. Those Kk roms are mixed firmwares that use parts from Jb to make them work with the kernel and recovery and make sure loki is not broken. So that is why recovery can't be installed on full stock rooted Kk.
EDIT- There are now root and recovery methods/installers for stock KK. Mixed firmware is still used to keep JB bootstack.

ok so for some reason for the first few weeks the Bluetooth reports a false positive(it reports a lot of hours of use but it's not actually draining your battery), if you actually use Bluetooth on a daily basis it will eventually stop giving out the false positive, mines stopped reporting 7-15 hours and now only reports around 2-4 hours which is the actual use I give it on a daily basis
I appreciate the fast response. Sounds like I'll wait it out and see what happens but that's good too know it's a false positive. Thanks again!

No cross flashing is a no for the device, some people do it at their own risk but with d800 a tot cross flash wouldn't work with the dll and tot file not matching the bin/model check just stick to the roms for your d800, as for flashing you can check out the back to stock thread on the general section and the method you would use is the flash tool with tot files

Well to install recovery it depends if on 4.2 jb then which of all the versions are you on d80010d/o/q or are you in kk 4.4 d80020c/k
If on d80010q/o then downgrade to 10d then root and install custom recovery with freegee from play store, if on d80020c/k the you can install recovery via auto rec
If on 4.2 then after flashing recovery you can flash any aosp/jb Rom without worrying, but if you want a 4.4 stock/flex/pro 2 Rom then you will also need to flash a kk baseband, if on 4.4 then you can flash any 4.4 stock/flex/pro 2 Rom without issues but if you want aosp then you will need the kk baseband that's been ported to aosp or the jb baseband/If flashing 4.2 stock/flex based roms you will need the jb baseband, hopefully I am not forgetting anything

Well I am not sure what you mean, for d800 you can only use flash tool with tot files, if you are asking if there are pre rooted flashable tot files via flash tool then as far as I know their aren't any
Just in case you didn't notice I update my other post

Any kit Kat Rom that's either 4.4 flex/g pro 2 ported, 4.4 stock based as long as it supports your d800, any aosp Rom with the correct baseband as long as it supports your d800

[Q] Help Flashing on Sprint G2

So I'm on 4.2.2, rooted.
I just flashed CM11 (first with, then without gapps) and got an annoying bootloop; just the LG Logo.
Luckily I had a backup of stock, so it's all good.
The thing is, I really want CM11.
So what are my prerequisites? Do I have to flash a certain radio or something? I did everything right in every one of my attempts (Flash system, data, cache, etc)
Any advice?
Thanks!

Just flashed TWRP that apparently has the Loki hack (.zip file via Flashify) and same result.

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue, I gave up on trying to install cyanogenmod after numerous failures, I believe it has something to do with having the ZV8 version of The Sprint G2, luckily there's a ROM out there based on cyanogenmod that will work with all Variants of the LG G2, I think your will enjoy this ROM.

If I had to guess I'd say you're on ZVA. Try flashing the ZV8 modem, then CM and see if that works. Get the most updated twrp and CM11 also. CM just released the M8 version yesterday which is a snapshot or stable build.
I had CM up and running a couple weekends ago. Started from ZVC so I had to flash the ZV8 modem for it to boot. Smooth running after that.

Never had to flash a modem before. Think you can point me in the right direction?
And I actually am trying to use the latest snapshot. Haha.
Thank you!

EDIT
Found ZV8 and flashed and it booted up on the first try. Thanks!

Well it took me forever on my friend's wifi to download CM and Gapps, so I think I'm just gonna flash the modem like the other person said and get CM11 working. I'll try your method when I get home and have faster download speed. Lol.
Thanks though!

:good:Excellent, glad to hear that worked for you. LG is definitely more difficult to work with than some other brands. My last device was an HTC and it was so easy to flash roms back and forth. \
Go ahead and grab the modem zip for ZVA (if that's what you were on) to have in case you want to restore your backup. Flash that, then restore. Otherwise it will bootloop also.

Coming from an S3, I got this G2 yesterday and its amazing, so no complaints here. Haha.
And I'll be sure to download the ZVA zip. Thanks!

Welcome to the G2! Take a look at the stock camera mod by xdabebb in the G2 development section. Well worth the time. G2 Tweaksbox is another favorite. It (along with the xposed framework) allows you to customize tons of areas if the LG skin.
