[Q] Root without tripping knox? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500. I want to root it and install cyanogenmod 11 on it. But I read that there's some problem with Knox and how it ends your warranty if the flag changes to 0x1. I'm currently on Android 4.4.2 kitkat official ROM by Samsung. Can I root it without loosing my warranty? Also, I read that Kingoroot roots your phone and doesn't trip your knox counter either. Does anyone know about this?
The main thing I wanna do after rooting is change the DPI of my phone. I hate such big icons.

Search for safe root method

I hate Samsung for this. I'm thinking of trading in my phone for a Nexus 5 now. But I wonder how will I live without memory card support! :'(

Buy an HTC ONE M8 its even better than S5

I wish I could. I'm a student and only I know how I bought S4. It's only one month old. So, I can't buy HTC ONE M8. Anyways, thanks for the suggestion.

If your phone is unlocked
Sell it
Then get some little money then buy htc

After having my original non-knox s4 replaced under warranty, ive now been given a mk9 4.3 i9505 and in the same situation.

Thanks mate, gosh i didnt think to look into other i9505 sections. XDA information seems somewhat all over the place sometimes. I can confirm its working. Running root without any KNOX triggers.

Yes, it seems u're right but i found this german website:http://www.mobtivity.com/de/news/galaxy-note-3-update-auf-android-kitkat-mit-root-und-knox-0x0.html.
Anyone can explain what is this?
This link is an interesting read....
This douchbag tells us nothing about knox or even warns about it...
then says you can root 4.4.2 and it will Void your warrenty(by this he means knox 0x1)
he then goes on to saying you can reflash 4.4.2 without root to "get back your warrenty".
i guess he doesnt know that once its 0x1 it cant be reset...
or he knows something we dont..???

This is not new for me, i'm aware of this, I had a Samsung S4...when u are a flashmaniac u take risks... I sold my S4 with Knox 0x1. But i guess some people don't care about Knox when they want to flash custom roms. Anyway this Knox s**t is ridiculous. Samsung made a bad move and many samsung fans will never buy a samsung device anymore.

Easiest is to root now you`re on a older KK rom and flash the coming updated L firmware with Mobile Odin Pro from the phone and keep root that way. At least thats what i`am going to do unless Chainfire says that there may be a problem with MOP and Lollipop.
BTW as you live in Europe: Root does NOT invalidate warranty unless root/custom kernel or recovery is proven without a doubt to be the cause of the defect!

Are u sure ? i live in Italy, all italians forum about android say to use only towelroot because otherwise i lose the warranty in any case. Thanks a lot

Towelroot is the safest way i agree as it doesn`t trip KNOX. Flash an older rom like ...ANE2 with Odin, root it with Towelroot, install superSU from Play and BusyBox (also from Play) and then flash the latest rom available with Mobile Odin Pro and KNOX will not be tripped. BTW European Law/Directives superceed oem conditions

What model? G950F/FD? G950U? There is a very simple way to root G950U/G950W devices already in existence. It's called SamFail and is listed with an accompanying rom in the threads section.

Sadly, currently there is no way of rooting Exynos S8 without tripping knox..
Unfortunately as mentioned above and beyond there is no way currently without tripping Knox. Sadly, I use Samsung Pay alot and like the idea of keeping that option hence no rooting as long as this device is my DD.

A question if anyone can help me.
I really need to Root my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) cause i need to try to recover some photos and most apps to recover need the root done.
I know that root trips Knox, but if i install an official firmware after been tripped, will phone get back to normal, or it will tripped forever??
Thanks

It physically trips knox warranty, so if it’s tripped once, you can’t recover it unless you replace motherboard.

Nope, you won't be able to use it again, even after you install an official firmware afterwards.
