I moved some pictures into private mode and then rooted my phone and shortly after went back to stock. I now enabled private mode again but can't find the pictures I moved to private before I reflashed anywhere... Does anyone know where it stores the pictures.

I do believe that private mode changes file type and encrypts the files. Also once knox has been triggered (which would be the case as you have rooted) private mode does not work. The only way you will get your pictures back is if you send your phone to Samsung and get them to reset everything, this will cost you quite a bit of money. The other thing you can do is wait and see if someone finds a way to reset knox, you could be waiting a while for this to happen, if it ever does happen. In future I would recommend using a file encrypter or something to encrypt your files in the future.
I am rooted now and private mode works but what youre saying makes sense. Thank you

having root and tripping the knox trigger hasn't stopped private mode for me. just won't let me do OTA updates, have to update via Kies
I have a SM-G900F from Virgin media/mobile (UK)

I don't normally screw up but a few days ago I did it big time. Long story short, I left my Note 2 in a taxi and I have no ability of getting a hold of the driver since I cannot recollect what company I used or what his licence plate was (you guessed it, I was intoxicated).
I did have Samsung Remote Controls installed on my phone but unfortunately I wasn't online when I left it. I had both wifi and data turned off. I also had a screen lock so the would-be thief would not be able to activate internet without first factory resetting everything.
I also tried calling the phone multiple times to no avail because it has been turned off. Is there any way for me to recover the phone or at least wipe it completely? I had an SD card on there with mildly sensitive information, I should have encrypted but did not.
Any ideas for how to wipe/find/recover/block/brick/self-detonate the phone would be greatly appreciated!
Im affraid its gone
as you say it would be factory reset so you cant even remotely install anything. its a real shame.
Google also dont track anything so best you can hope is IMEI to network and police. but chances are it will go abroad
I'm in Thailand and my carrier doesn't block IMEI's for some reason. I also had a 32 gig SD card in there from Sandisk, epic fail!!!! :crying:
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is so great that you should pass the greatness of it forward.
did you set up your samsung account on it? the chances are bad but you should try locating it from here
Even though its too late now. Few things You Can learn from this . 1. Use the Cerbus APP its Much better than and theft APP as it Can survive A full Wipe . Also, always Keep your internet on

^^ With Cerbrus you could actually turn on your data remotly via SMS.

What a bummer... maybe it might be returned to you ?
Not sure if that will help but on the GN2 under settings > security you have an option called find my mobile Web page. If you login with ur samsung acc, you would be able to locate ur phone and do few other stuff.

Have you tried plan b from lookout labs? If he hasn't wiped your phone you should be able to relocate the phone regardless if gps or wifi is off.

So I updated my phone to kitkat today and after my wifi will not turn on. I'm getting a message saying that "my devise security has blocked a action that is not permitted. No further action is required" Not sure what to do. I tried a FDR twice and nothing. Pulled the battery. Any ideas. Please help. I don't wanna have to send it to Samsung. Rogers wants 50 bucks for a loner phone

Try the Virgin Canada ROM. This one allow the wifi turn on without problems. I had the same problem and the Virgin ROM worked perfectly.

Idk if there is a thread for this, but i have a particular problem.
I had originally rooted my Samsung Galaxy S5, but unrooted it the next day. (No roms or anything) (i rooted correctly)
I found out i tripped the knox counter (not the problem, well sorta)
The problem is that a week later out of nowhere my camera stops working.
I want to know, if i go in for a return. What will happen? Will i have to pay for the replacement? If so, how much?
I have the T-Mobile version and i am on the jump program.
I need answers before i try turning it in tomorrow.

Just do it and you will find out. They're not going to steal your phone nor be calling the FBI.

As per title really. Completley stock phone using a Tmobile uk sim.
Sim creates valid hotspots on other phones and other sim cards also are unable to share internet. Hotspot is created but any connecting devices report no internet.
The phone is a grey import, apparently from korea if that helps.
Everything else is working fine.
Really need to get it sorted as i use a tablet and qpair. Ive tried both qpair and standalone hotspots to no avail.
Any ideas? Ideally i dont want to root, or need to unroot after as i use apps like sky go that wont run if rooted.
Thanks
Anyone? Any suggestions?
A

Sounds like a hardware fault to me. Have you tried s factory reset? Other than that not sure there is much you can try.

Umm i sometimes have the same problem with my G2. If I don't have any security (as in no password and encryption) there's never a problem.

Question is encrypt our device is really important? Our data can be recovered easily when we sell our device? How many people here they are using encryption in their note 3?

Mostly applies to 'older' smart phones........
Yes old android phone doesn't have encryption features under security, we have this feature available but how many people using this? Google says before factory reset phone data must be encrypted if we want to sale our device, if encrypt data & do factory reset it will not ask password?

Wonder why they say it cant be recovered in new devices.

This what I mean, I don't think many people encrypt there device & new device is only secure when it's encrypt, so new device also insecure as good as old device & unknowingly we sale our devices to others.

A, who is dumb enough to store naked pictures on a device of which per average 3 are stolen every second?
B, I was under the impression that it was common knowledge that factory reset in setting is a Soft reset.
C, Reflash firmware and tell it to wipe during flash. Should be sufficient.

It's not only about naked pictures, if you read link I attach it says about emails, documents etc, which may lead to compromise privacy & financial loss.

As I said in B.and C.
Most users are stupid enough to only do a a soft reset through setting.

Plus this will only refer to internal memory.
For all important stuff you keep on external sdcard, make apps record/use extscard and don't include the card when you sell.
