Is my battery on its way out??

Hi,
I've had my XDAII for just over a year and I think the battery is starting to die!
I seem to be having a number of problems:
- When I put it in the cradle it doesn't seem to charge unless the PC is switched on, even though I have the AC Power Adaptor connected - it didn't used to do this.
- When the PC is on, it says it's charging but seems to be losing charge very slowly. It's been on 87% for a while now and just dropped to 86%.
- The backup battery seems to die very quickly. It only goes up to 50% and if I take out the main battery for even just a few minutes it goes down to 25%.
- Also, the PC doesn't recognise the XDAII 9 times out of 10. If I keep taking it out of the cradle and putting it back in it will eventually recognise it - but most of the time it just tells me a device connected to the PC has malfunctioned.
Can anyone help? Is it a problem with the battery or perhaps it's just the cradle??
Problem is, I've lost the adaptor that enables you to charge the XDAII without using the cradle, so I can't test it.
Please help!!
Thanks
you can try taking the batt itself out and charge it for 24hours in the cradle and put it back in to see if it'll help
otherwise you may have to buy a new batt

Turn off USB Charging for Omnia (solved)

Hi all, there is a way to turn off the charging function when using USB ,
1-install FdcSoft TaskMgr from here
dotfred.net/TM/FdcSoft_TaskMgrv3.3_WM6.5.cab
2-go to Devices--->$device\BAT1(BAT1 and stop this service
3-thats All
To Use charge restart this service
hey thx for the tips! but after stop the service my o2 keep saying batt low...
Is there any reason why we would want to turn off this service?
I heard that it keeps your battery in good shape

I'm not so sure about that... I've always charged both my O2 and the O1 before through usb and the battery has always been fine.
Actually, I even noticed that charging through usb takes longer but once it's charged it also lasts longer (this happened on the O1, haven't made the same comparison on the O2 yet)
Dunno if plugging / unplugging the usb cable too frequently can have some sort of ill effect on the battery life, but it's not like we're plugging it every 10 minutes is it?
Never had a battery problem with a "normal" usb usage and usb charging enabled so far...
Yes but not anymore

It's always good to drink all the juice so the battery don't develop a offline or fake "memory".
Also the multi cell assembly insde the battery praticly don't allow batery memory anymore.
Thx for the reference
Regarding battery life
Hi,
Actually, for a battery it depletes it's life every second. There is no way of preventing this But we can extend the service life. For example the most basic rules:
1-Do not charge your battery unless it is almost empty
2-Avoid deep discharging (this is not possible with a PDA coz it has an early shut down routine)
3-Do not overcharge the battery (also this not possible, coz there is a voltage limiter by hardware)
4-Do not leave your battery in a high temperature environment (for example in a car during summer, we are using chemical-reaction batteries)
the rest is do not puncture, do not short circuit boola boola boola
ok, finally while using your PDA with a USB charging interface, it should stop charging when the battery is full (Even my mother's old nokia doing this)
Plus, how much it costs for a new battery? only few bucks.. ehh.. (not for an original one ofcourse)
PDA batteries, in most cases, are 3.7volts (charging voltage is 5volts by USB) and 1200 to 1500mAh (for the ones who doesnt know what is "mAh": it is the capacity of the battery and it means if you pull for example for a 1300mAh battery, 1300 "mili ampers per hour" it will deplete. Some of my friends they are using 3.7V 2000mAh batteries while their PDAs supplied with 1230mAh batteries, thus, standby time goes up to a week. They are not using their originals ofcourse. I dont understand why manufacturers are not supplying PDAs with these kind of batteries by standart. Even a chinese made battery can be so efficient. (I am using a chinese one, my original battery is 1300mAh, i could find 1500mAh same battery)
I spoke to my friends, they are not charging their 2000mAh batteries via USB/charger while battery is in the phone. Because there is an internal electrical resistance of every battery. May be PDA's battery charging circuit get damaged! Because of this if you plan to use a high capacity battery, charge it seperately by using another charging equipment.
Finally when you want to sell out your PDA install the original battery (which you have never used before hehe ) and get a higher price
This might be some really big idiotic question, but what if the service is down and the battery drains and the phone shuts itself off, will it turn on by connecting the charger to the phone?
I ask this because with the service off even the real phone charger wont work (at least while it is on)!

I just did what you said, and now the device\BAT1(BAT1 completely disappear! How am i supose to turn it on again now?
And no, i obviously didn't delect it, i just stoped the service and it vanished from the damn list!
im very interested in this but how can you restart the charging service?

i dose not knows what is happening to my phone......my help me to solve this problem.....
mines does the same thing people says that the charing port samsung uses is CHEAP and has to be replaced. i dont use my galaxy y anymore.

Very slow charge

So i just installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 to my mobile. I had problems with slw charge before cm too. I have got the stock samsung charger, i have tried 2 another charger too but its the same, and multiple plugs but no change. There is nothing in my mobile ehich could cause this. Sometimes even my mobile discharge a little while its plugged. I turn off everything, wifi, sync, etc.. My charger doesnt fit very well to my mobile port, so i have to move it and fix it with something, to connect, but its working , and i can copy , paste from the mobile while connectd to pc.
Ampere says that its charging with about 60 to 120 mA.
I dont know what to do, maybe my mobile port damage, but maybe there is other sulotion.
60 to 120mA, bro that's not safe. I think you'll have to clean the connector or change it and then check the charger
What do you mean that its not safe?
Two possibilities
1)- your charger is screwed up
2)- your port is dirty (maybe)
What would be the good mA ?
Mine is from 600mA to 720mA
Wow i found out what was the problem. I used a distributive, or how you call it (transalated it ) and from that it's only charging with an avarage of 100. Now i connected diirectly to the plug, and it's charging about 600 to 700 mA. I would never think that would be the problem, becaouse i used the distributive every time, and it was working fine.
I have the same problem. First noticed the problem on CyanogenMod 12.1. Reverted back to stock, and I was getting 100% full battery. Then, after a while I noticed that my battery was bulging, so I changed it. Got a new battery, the problem is still there even on Stock ROM, this time. Got a battery App called Battery Monitor Widget, or something,,, to check my mA flow while charging and when the battery is empty I was getting 850mA, but as it was getting fuller the mA flow value was dropping. Today for example, it was fluctuating at around 70mA at 90%, and it wouldn't go higher. I removed the battery for a few minutes, then put it back in and it indicated 100% when I turned on the phone. I waited till the phone was 90% battery and plugged back the charger, and the mA flow was around 400, and at 99% it dropped down to 175mA. I don't know what causes this kind of behavior, but it's frustrating as hell.
My charger charges at 2A, and let me tell you, this thing charges pretty fast!!

OPT Charging problems.

Hey guys.
Since one week i have a problem with charging my OPT. I have used the original charger and cable all the times when i charge it during the night. When i connected it to and PC or Power Bank i used a USBC cable from amazon.
Since a few days the charging takes very(and i really mean very) long. Even over night(6-8 h) i get maybe only 50-60% in flight mode. I also tried the charger of my Pollux (~1,5A) also with no satisfying results. Before the unit gets warm during charge, but nowadays it stays cool.
Somebody had the same issues? Can it be the Ressurection rom? ( i am using it since may and it always charged properly)
Somebody has a workaround? or i have to send it in for repair again?
So firstly, you are saying you run a Custom ROM? Looks like battery stats are incorrect. Do to Recovery mod and wipe the battery stats. Also I suggest charge phone to 100% and then wipe battery stats
Try to charge with phone off and report back
Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
I charged the phone all night off. It still is below 50%. I will save all the DATA and will install the latest version of the Rom. Lets see what happens. It seems the phone only takes 500mA. Maybe a USB connection setting is messed up...
Will report back
Hey screamor I had the same issue. I checked the charging speed with the "Ampere" app and it said that I only charge with 10 - 300 Mah , so I tried everything - airplane mode , underclock CPU and charge with phone off but nothing really helped but since I use Benchholds kernel 3.6 my op2 charge with normal speed and also the "Ampere" app says that the loading speed increased to 1300 - 1540 mah
Maybe you should try this also and report back if it helps you too
