Could somebody (please :3) make a plugin for Lux (Auto Brightness) with the same functionalities as the Nexus 5 plugin? --> Dim on-screen keys too (!), etc. I would write it myself, but I am only a beginner in Java-programming :/
Nexus 5 plugin can be found here: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details%3Fid%3Dcom.vitocassisi.lux.plugin.nexus
+1 would love this as well

Me too. Lux is great, but if it were a slider like the Samsungs were, without opening the widget that would be great!

Okay so in the internal T-Mobile myTouch Champion website a user
posted a thread like this to share information about which apps will
work to light up the LED for the myTouch Slide.
Free Applications:
LED Desire Light: This application allows you to alter the brightness of which the LED lights up in 5 different increments. It also has a text entry space of which the application will then turn into Morse code through the LED.
LED Light: This application isn't as bright as LED Desire, but it comes with a nice widget with similar styling to the default widgets of the phone. Although these widgets are not the same size.
Akari: This application has the same brightness as LED Light but with a very simple UI...just one large "On/Off" button. This application takes up practically NO space too. So if you want a light app...this is it.
BeamWidget: I really like this widget, it allows you to tweak the brightness and more closely resembles the default settings widgets but the icon is a TID BIT larger than the default settings widgets. I believe this one MAY be as bright as LED Desire Light. Download Here
Post here if you find more and I'll edit my original post to include your recommended application.
I use BeamWidgets, someone over in the Desire forum is developing it. Simple widget... You set the brightness when you add it, and it works wonders.
You can download it here:

LED Desire Light works gret on the slide. I love the fact that it offers brightness controls. I also use Flashlight, a market app that uses the screen for light. It allows for one-handed brightness controls and puts off good light if used in a smaller area.

After using all of these applications I definitely have to say that Beamwidgets has to be my personal favorite. The link in the OP will direct you to the dev's thread on XDA where he mentions to be launching other widgets soon which will also be very nice.
Its simple to use and very bright which is something that other similar widgets can't offer in terms of brightness.
Everyone should definitely check that link out.
thanks for sharing
One thing to remember is these LEDs were not realy meant to left on at full power for long periods of time. If you are not carefull they WILL burn out. Use wisely folks.
I will use this, but the only time I ever regularly use my phone as a light, is at night, when walking from my living room to my bedroom after all the lights have been shut off... so 10 seconds at a time shouldn't be a problem
Awesome! Nice to have, when you drop something in the dark. I set the power to about 75%, puts out pretty good light even in a well lit room at that setting.
Another one that I found is led light by picolyl. It works pretty good as well. Has a 1x1 widget. Tap for on, tap for off.

Hi
Thanks for a terrific discussion board and all the help it offers.
I have a new HD2 and I love it - having upgraded from an iMate ultimate with WM6.1
I find the backlight too bright at night when I'm using navigation software. Is there a way I can dim the backlight at night when I'm using the navigation software?
Thanks
Mark
I don't use nav software at night (or anytime), but I use autobacklight app. It's available on this forums in the hd2 apps or wm apps forums.
I just tap on it and it toggles between lightest brightness and adaptive bright. It's basically used at night time when I want to read and during the day when I'm outside in the sun. It saves me from having to go through the menus to set this.
Many thanks. Sounds very promising. I'll give it a go.
Mark
Resolved - Update
Update:
I installed Auto backlight Steps. I set it to just two, 10% & 100%, thus it is a toggle. Its an icon besides my GPS icons. At night I hit it before (or after) firing GPS. Works like a dream.
See:

Many thanks to all
or try Lumos, it replaces the system autobrightness, giving you an option to create your own brightness profile or making use of the few predefind ones
At first I will say that at first I wanted to do a quick reply, but as the ideas came to my mind i started thinking about full topic xD
The topic was created to give devs ideas for some smaller tweaks/upgrades/features. I made this topic after I saw that the topic where dev asked what do you want for new rom, peoples only idea was "MIUI". I was little bit disappointed by that.
As I have many ideas I will sort them in groups.
General use tweaks and functions:
- A player in lock screen (only visible when playing music)
- Changing songs by long press volume button (Old SE function implemented in very old phones ages ago)
- Auto air plane mode on selected by user hours (I mean turning off gsm/3g at night)
- Turning the led for buttons in pre-defined light conditions. (For example: in direct sunlight the buttons are very visible and i don't think that anyone has got problem in finding them. They are wasting battery at that time and no one can even see them. But at night it might be helpful for some users)
- Motion-blured launcher (and if it is possible - other apps also)
- Any wifi signal tweak is great also
- I use default x10 launcher because I love the music widget and timescape. Rest is only a bonus. I really don't like that we don't have feature that our x8 friends has got by default - up/down gesture that enables app drawer and goes back.
- Equalizer in default music app
- Faster wifi connecting (huh I know that we have a really bad wifi controller but any tweak here would be great)
- Using some other keyboard than default one
- Already updated versions of programs on roms (like latests maps instead of older ones - I know that you want to make your roms ultra light weight but it would save some time for users, and we really don't look so much if the file size of our room is 3 or 4 mb bigger)(of course you should make rom as lightweight as possible )
- Panorama app by default would be ok
- AdBlock (these is also a battery tweak - reduces the number of connections)
- By default power save widget doesn't work, why is it still implemented?
- Making more free ram by disabling setup wizard service (does anyone need it??)
- XDA app should be in ROM by default (with option to remove it of course)
- Increased call volume
- Some audio quality enchantments using headphones
Picture/camera/video related things:
- Improving bitrate/fps of videos and improving pics (but that isn't anything genius I think)
- 16mln colors (but that is also obvious)
- Control of exposure time and ISO [would be soo really great that i would start thinking about donation]
- Something that would look good and be same useful as androids gallery, but would provide normal zoom (I mean full resolution zoom)
- Making photo app start faster
- Auto flash in poor light
- A flash instead of non stop shining (it is also great battery tweak)
- Making RAW (Dreams xD)
- Option to adjust and/or turn off default denoise/sharpen algorithm (sometimes I hate the edges wrrr)
Battery saving:
- As I wrote - turning network at night
- Improving bravia engine to do more - in tv's the back-light is adjusted to the picture it is viewing. If the image that is on our phone is pure black the phone would reduce backlight to minimum. If half of the screen would be gray and the other half also the backlight would be also reduced to minimum but the gray pixels would be shown in the hardware as pure white. For us we would have more battery juice, better blacks and there wouldn't be anything missing from image. It there would be elements that would need 100% white the screen backlight would be also set to 100%. I don't know how hard it is to implement, it could need bootloader unlock but it would be a milestone for our x10, not a simple tweak
- Calibration notification - once 2 months or some pre-defined amount of charging cycles
- Some app that would automatically adjust voltages. It would check every freq with some voltage. If it didn't have restarted it continues making the voltage lower if not it would use higher V
- Enabling lower freq than 128mhz (but not like doomlord's that the voltage was 1000mv and you couldn't change that [Of course it is very good that he proved that it is possible])
- A flash instead of non stop shining (it is also great camera tweak)
- If 3g is enabled in settings, the phone would turn it off if the screen is also off (we don't need 3g when we don't use the phone so lets use edge to save battery and still be able to answer the phone)
- Make media server as individual zip. It uses power (I always have in battery usage that it "ate" about 2% to 5% of battery. Not everybody use it so it might be helpful)
- Adblock - Reduces number of connections (these is also general tweak)
Appearance:
- Making puzzle lock default lock screen
- Making gray battery circle default
- Making colorful/green icons
- Transparent bar of launcher
- Wallpapers specially for our x10 (in few weeks I'll start doing some)
- Replacing the clock on lock screen
- weather on lock screen
Note that Appearance is my own opinion and some people might not like it
I'm not posting some obvious things like bootloader/better multitouch. Every dev knows the basic things to do.
Ok, I think thats enough for now. If you have ANY ideas for our x10 please comment below so I can add them to our list
I know that some of ideas are already implemented in some roms. But they are extremely rare.
If some devs would like to talk about some ideas, they can do that here also.
Too much. Why not DIY? Devs don't have 4 hands and 2 heads.

Yeah, I know that, they don't have to do all of these, they will have ability to choose what is easiest for them.
Whats that i hear you say?
XDA has a search function?
an you found what thread?
THIS one?
Wow thats awesome
Hi,
is there a way to access the quick settings in any app instead just on the home screen or something similar that shows volume, brightness and wifi? I tested "Sidebar" but it doesn't show whether wifi is on and also changes volume and brightness on touch instead of just showing the bar.
Basically i am looking for something like the "Slider Controls" small app for the Xperia Z plus the ability to turn wifi on/off.
Thank you

Two products you could try "GMD GestureControl" and/or "LMT".
With GMD I defined a customized gesture to bring up the volume overlay while in apps like MX Player allowing me to adjust the volume during playback. With LMT's PIE (see video) , I assigned a toggle to turn autobrightness on/off (Auto Brightness Switch) and a number of notification bar activities. So far with LMT I've only used the PIE overlay feature but it does a heck of a lot more as you can see in the video link.
Give them a test run, between the two products I think you can get what you need. They also work perfectly well with SideBar if you have already purchased that.
Good Luck
I have had a few ideas on how the illumination bar could be used in some apps for our phone.
Idea 1. Bar lights up in response to button presses on the navigation bar, have a slow fade/pulse as the buttons are pressed and have a glowing pulse if the Google button is brought up and pressed. This could be extended so whenever the screen is touched, the LEDs on the bar light up and follow the finger movements along the screen when on the homescreen or launcher.
Idea 2. An app to link the color detection from Walkman app to other music players with color effects like Poweramp, even if it just used the existing glow effects in Poweramp and just matched the colors to the LED's. I just want to have light effects without having to open up U-Disco and set it up each time I listen to music.
If anyone wants to try these, go for it

Nice I like this idea
Both ideas looks nice but I am not sure if it's possible. Root and perhaps deodex are needed to even begin creating a script for these two ideas..

It looks like you can use an AccessibilityService to receive notification about gestures and key events (including the home, back, etc. keys). That said, accessibility services do have the caveat that only the first to register for a given type of event is notified, so if someone had a screen reader for example, it may not work, or worse still, it may stop the screen reader from working.
As for making other apps use the illumination bar, the API is public so any developers can add functionality to their app to use it. Also, open source apps or those with plugin interfaces could potentially be extended to add the functionality...
thanks very much
