[i9505] Bad Wi-Fi? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. I have a problem that I'd like help with.
I have a problem with internet connection on my SG4. Specifically only Wi-Fi.
For once, Samsung Apps/Hub says "No network connection" when I open them up and it doesn't connect, but if I turn Wi-Fi off and use 3G, it works. Same with WhatsApp, which is acting very weird. In a group chat I try to download a video someone sent, and it says "Download failed. Try again later.", but if I turn off Wi-Fi and again, use 2/3G, it starts the download of that video without any problems.
The Wi-Fi itself is not a problem I think. Other than those 2 apps and all Samsung connections, everything else works on Wi-Fi. YouTube (though sometimes it also loses connection), Twitter works excellently, DropBox, SpeedTest, Tumblr.... everything else works just fine.
It's also sometimes disconnecting/connecting randomly from my Wi-Fi connection. And it used to be a perfect connection before I tried flashing latest ROMs.
My phone's info:
ROM: Goldeneye v30
AP: I9505XXUFND7
CP: I9505XXUFNC4
CSC: I9505VFGFND2
Bootloader: I9505XXUFNC4
Knox warranty void: 0x1
My Wi-Fi router: Linksys WRT54G2

I tried few different modems, like XXUEMK8 and XXUFNC9, both without and with NON-HLOS but they had the same exact problem. And this problem was at the very beginning on a clean install.
Could the modem be the problem? If so, how many times can I try to flash the modem? Can I ruin the NAND memory by flashing too much?

No you can flash as much as you can
But if you have a backup of your previous system try to restore it

Could You find a Solution? I have the same issue since months and I have no idea anymore

Try switching your modem, update your router, try a different router, factory reset, update your rom.

No data connection

Hi.
I'm having trouble with my data connection. I was running franco r86 and flashed harsh kernels boot.img and since I've not been able to get data connected. I've tried to wipe cache/dalvik, change kernel/rom, flash the stock images (both android 4.2.1 and 4.2.2), reset APN, manually add APN, turning radio off/on in the *#*#4636#*#* menu, tried another sim card (same carrier tho). GSM works so I can make calls, but GPRS serivce says Connecting or Disconnected :/.
As I can see it, it can be software/settings or hardware fail when I plugged it into the computer to flash the boot.img (, that seems unlikely).
Any ideas? Thanks.
Edit: Got it working after selecting my APN like 15 times. Odd, but true.

[Q] Cannot surf on 3G/4G, but wifi works fine

Hi, i ran into a issue, i can't surf on 3G/4G mode, but while at home on wifi it works fine.
i have tried to reflash the firmware, but the problem remains.
My phone is a Swedish(tele2) unlock sm-n 9005
i am on kitkat poland rom XEO
i have check the apn settings, tried with France's and Germany's roms, but didnt help
i have also tried wipe factory/cache and dalvik this before flashing, but still cant connect..
my note is already at 0x1 so i dont have to worry about this.
any help will be appreciate..
Hi again
Just flashed the phone with N9005XXUENB7 (UK) with Re-partition + Nand erase all + Phone EFS Clear + auto-reboots + F.reset time
The phone went into UK firmware, but the download mode still says
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
and the wierd thing is, even i did a Phone EFS Clear, all the EFS info remains, but in the end my phone still cant surf on the 3G/4G
and the second wierd thing is, in about device> status, i see the phone have taking a ip adress from ISP..
i have spend all night here but still no clue how to fix this, maybe samsung service is my last chance, but knox 0x1
Silly question: did you check the APN settings?

[Q] i9505 LTE modem flash issue

Hi all,
I've had my phone locked on Tele2 (CRO) network which I needed to unlock to be able to use T-mobile SIM. I've used Odin 3.04 and followed the instructions to update modem to I9505XXUFNB9. I've managed to unlock the network this way and use my new SIM but the connection (both phone and mobile data) kept switching on and off constantly.
After that I've tried another firmware, namely I9505XXUFNDG for T-mobile but the problem now is that mobile is almost always off with no possiblity to connect and WiFi is blocked completely (security notification "Your device's security has blocked an action").
Basebands registered properly after every flash.
Phone is not rooted and me not being a power user would just love it to work as it was intended to
Followed the guide, all firmwares downloaded from here
Appreciate any help.
Might be onto something. After reading through this post seems I need to apply WiFi fix but I cannot tell which one to use for my phone (I9505XXUFNDG) as it's not posted. Kernel version 3.4.0-481100.
I've tried I9505_WiFi_FIX_MDM.tar and I9505_WiFi_FIX_MDF.tar but they just messed up the phone completely.
Thx a lot.

Hi ,
you should flash the fix for the modem you have installed , try following:
Flash another modem from the list there
Now flash the modem wifi fix for that modem
If still in trouble re flash stock and start all over again.....

Thx, did just that and now it works properly.
Much obliged.
a problem started to show recently; when i select LTE/WCDMA/GSM for auto connect network mode when the mode switches due to signal availability it doesn't get reconnected. i.e. while under LTE it works fine but if i move and get out of reach it should automatically switch to slower network which it doesn't. this works fine if i select WCDMA/GSM then the switches are fine but LTE is not available under this.
one more thing i noticed since i'+ve flashed the phone is that the upper part of the phone gets very very hot (a lot more than before). since the flash i've also had to replace a microSD card which died within weeks (not necessarily connected but worth noting).
any suggestions welcome.

Data modem not functioning after clean wipe / flash

I have this strange problem where sometimes my modem does not work after a clean flash. Usually just making sure the data network preference is set to LTE solves the issue, and after 10 min or less the phone picks up the band. But I've just done a clean flash teamUB 1/11 and its been 24 hours with no data connection. This same build worked fine for this same phone a week ago, but the 1/19 broke the phone so I had to do a clean wipe and go back to 1/11.
I've played with data roaming options in CDMA roaming mode, set to domestic roaming, national roaming. Still no data
Any advice?
This is for a 900P (sprint) - Note that I am on CREDO (uses Sprint network)
EDIT - FIXED YAY!!! FULL LTE WORKING GREAT!

The issue started when I was forced to wipe my system data and do a clean install in order to get the phone functional after boot loop from 1/19 update. so yes, I would assume that the modem built into the 1/11 update I rolled back to (clean install) contained the modem. But, as stated, the 1/11 build was working fine for me before, and not now.
Is there a way to just update the modem itself on this build/phone? I've been wondering about that and wanted to try it if possible.

There is no modem included in TeamUB's roms.
First thing's first, what model are you using? Go to signature settings and write your model there, this way whoever is helping you they will know what they're dealing with.

Sorry, I wrote 900P in the first post, I thought that was enough information. I've updated my signature to contain more information.
thanks

No need to say sorry man, just mean it makes it easier. Haha you're signature says 900O lol.
1 Install Samsung USB driver for mobile phones
2 Download the NE5 modem one click flasher here
3 Put your phone into download mode (Turn off the device, press Volume Down, Home and Power Buttons simultaneously, Once you see the warning message, release all buttons, Press Volume Up to enter download mode, Now your device should be in download mode)
4 Run the file from #2 and flash modem (if NE5 doesn't help try the other ones).
I don't think it's a modem problem though. IMO it's either the rom or the operator..

The NE5 throws a <OSM> MD5 hash value is invalid error. I flashed the ND2 version and no immediate data connection, but from past experience it can take a little while for the modem to sync. No idea what causes the delay, but everytime i flash a new rom it can take sometimes up to 30min before it gets a data connection. Been 15min no connection yet.
Couldnt find a mirror anywhere of that NE5 one click flasher. Know of any other hosts? i googled to no avail.

Update:
I have restored a old backup to kitkat, modem working fine, instant connection. Then I did a system wipe, clean flash to cyanogenmod 1/20 update released yesterday.....no modem. Restored backup again to kitkat, then did a dirty flash to 1/20 cyanogenmod.....no modem.
I think the issue is 5.0 itself. The issue is so random, I do not know how to troubleshoot it. I've installed maybe a dozen CM's so far, and its been a coin toss whether the modem works after install. Sometimes it syncs up after a few min, and sometimes never. its really strange because I had the modem working fine on TeamUB from late december, through 3 or 4 updates until 1/19 boot looped it. Now after that nothing has gotten the data back on other than restoring to kitkat.
When i did the clean install to cyanogenmod, on the startup process where it says 'waiting to activate cellular service' it gets stuck there and never activates the data.
Also, when trying to flash the NE5 tar md5 you linked to, I get md5 error! Binary is invalid. Im supposed to use AP, yes?
EDIT - Changed preferred network type to 3G and after a few reboots got data! Going to change back to LTE now and give it some time to see if i can get it to sync up.

No luck leaving it on LTE. When I switch back to 3g I can get a connection, LTE set in preferences I get no connection, not even 3g. I've been testing around the city and at my home, where I can always pickup a LTE connection from past experience.
It seems that the LTE protocol within 5.0 is buggy for my situation. If it works, it seems to work fine, but when it doesnt work, it never works. So its either glass is full or empty

There are two versions of labels in Odin. The "normal" says "phone" the one I don't like says "CP". You have the Odin I don't like lol, so yours says "CP". That's where you put the modem. "AP" is for firmware/roms only.
Try these two modems, which I found on this page, NK4 for 4.4 while NKD is for 5.0.
Try Ktoosez kernel and also check your Apn settings, it's supposed to be optimised for CDMA phones and might help you.

Wahooo! Flashing NKD with odin and messing with the APN's has fixed it!!! You rock!
I took a look at ktoosez kernel, what exactly would it bring to me? Always interested in new tools......

N910H Wi-Fi problem after update to lollipop

Hi everyone,
I'd like to know if anyone encountered any Wi-Fi problem after updating to Lollipop ?
I own a N910H, I have a Toshiba stor. E Wireless adapter I use to connect to my hdd and access my files. When I was on kitkat firmware (N910HXXU1ANK5) it did work fine, also for my other phones or my laptop I can connect without any issue.
Since I updated to Lollipop it cannot connect to the adapter. The toshiba network shows up on the phone but when I type in the password it just won't connect. A tried a few firmwares: N910HXXU1BOC5, SweetRom with BOF1 and also flashed ank5 modem into SweetRom but still not working. I thought it could be modem not supporting the network, it is weird. And when I remove password encryption, it connects normally.
I wonder if it is a modem problem or like lollipop not supported by the device ? Or perhaps do Note 4 lollipop has Wi-Fi issues ?
Thank you everyone for helping.

did not have any problems when i updated from stock kitkat to stock lollipop. You could perhaps root and try some custom roms they have different kernel and modems, perhaps a fix for you.
Some times you have have to just 'forget password' and reconnect the wifi.

I did already, I did "forget password" / retype password so many times. Still cannot connect.
Tried a few roms and different modems. I'll try downloading another stock rom.
