Update issues - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using note 3 i got it from hkk and i guess its rooted thats why i am not getting any update for 4.4 so can anyone help me with it
Model no SM-N9005
Android version 4.3
Baseband version N900TUVUBMI7
Build number JSS15J.N9005XXUBMJ3
SELinux status permissive

Wrong section of wrong forum. You need to be in the standard note 3 forum, not tmo (sm900t), and in the q&a/help section, not development.

why Baseband is N900T while PDA is N9005? What is your CSC and Model?
You can install this app and open menu --> 'Firmware Browser...' to obtain the latest firmware for your device.

I installed that app but nothing is happening my screen got freezed and lately its saying " Phone INFO isn't responsing do you want to close it

You will not be able to get the ota or kies updates since your phone is rooted.
The best way to get the latest 4.4 Kitkat firmware is to go to SamMobile.com
and find the SM-N9005 official odin flash rom/firmware for your phone.
Good luck!

reallysorry but please can you tell me how to install it as i'm new in it and there are many issues in my current rom so please and if possible can you suggest me the rom i should install so that i can have all s-pen features

No offense but this is the worst kind of people here...people who root their phones without reading every single important thread carefully, ending up messing their phone up and blaming it on their "new-ness", so we gotta spoonfeed them.
Regardless, go to Sammobile and download an N9005 stock ROM for your region. Then use Odin to flash it. Check using that app above to make sure you have an N9005 bootloader (first four characters are N9005) to make sure you have an N9005 or you'll end up with a brick. Or you could go to the flashable modems thread and flash an MJ3 N9005 modem in Odin.

You have to install SuperSU from the Play Store, and grant root permission for this app to work.
Otherwise it will wait for the permission accepting, once your phone has been rooted.

Setting up Odin :
1. Make sure you have installed the Samsung usb drivers for windows.
2. Run Odin as administrator in windows.
Add the TAR/MD5 file in the PDA section/slot in odin.
4. Now that Odin is setup, put the phone in download mode and connect usb cable.
Power off the phone then press 'home+power+volume down' buttons at the same time.
Keep the buttons pressed till Download mode appears.
5. Now that Odin and the phone are setup, connect the usb cable from phone to computer.
Odin will detect the device and show something like [com:4l]
6. Click START in Odin.
7. The flash will take 5 minutes for a full flash on average
8. When the flashing is complete, DO NOT disconnect usb until Odin shows ' PASS '.
9. The phone will reboot. Unplug usb cable from phone and computer then go into
recovery mode and select "factory/data reset".
That's it. Happy flashing ..!!
The SM-9005 4.4.2 Kitkat firmware from sammobile comes with the Odin Windows utility.
Unzip the zip file from Sammobile into a new empty folder in your windows desktop and
you will see the TAR/MD5 firmware file and you will see Odin after unzip is completed.
You will need to create a free account on Sammobile to be able to download
the SM-N9005 Kitkat 4.4.2 official firmware zip file.
Just follow the step by step instructions above.
Good luck!

I killed my phone :( Fw Upgrade Encountered..

I am I9500 user. I was using 4.3 arrow rom. And unexpected stucks and reboots. So i was bored. I tried to make full factory reset from kies. But it says your phone is not supporting to make reset.
After that i made a research about it. People say its about csc. Okey understood i should change my csc to my original country. But here is the problem. Idiot me tried to flash 4.2.2 with odin when phone was 4.3. Ofcourse it said "FAIL".
Now phone says" Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Okey i did that and kies said me "GT-I9500 is not supporting to fully reset or something like that..":crying:
I can't change csc, can't factory reset, can't enter recovery mode, just enters download mod and otherway says fw upgrade encountered.
So what i should i do now ? I am downloading stock 4.3 for my country. This is my last shot... Any suggestions ?

I don't recommend u change of CSC for avoid problems. Having CSC: SER only mean it is the place where the phone was built.

so, i read some forums, and i want to try flashing a different CSC. they say it will only disable update with Kies and i dont care kies...
i think my phone is not locked for a country but i'm not sure, if a backup my rom and try another CSC, will it be risky or all i need is restoring my older backup?

Flashing questions

I actually wanted to flash the leaked Lollipop for my new Note 3 but from what I can read it's not safe just yet... i'm not rooted and can't backup my PIT. Also I read a whole lot about wifi-bugs and so on.
But coming from S5 I really want a fresh look on my Note 3 so I thought I'd flash a custom ROM.
If I understand everything correct I have to do the following:
1: Flash custom recovery with ODIN
2: Flash custom ROM from recovery
I don't need to be rooted before I flash a custom recovery with ODIN, right?
I don't care about triggering Knox. I'll just flash the Stock Lollipop when it's available.
Have I got the procedure right?

Yes you are right.
Regarding to backing up the PIT file, it is not necessary to backup the PIT file from your device. You can get a PIT file from the similar device, i.e the device with the same model name and same CSC. You can use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to get your Model Name and CSC.

First obtain your Model Name and CSC as I have said. Then search on Google, e.g. PIT file N9005 XME, where N9005 is Model Name, XME is CSC.
Ok! I think I´ll stick with 4.4.2 until the official Lollipop comes. Even if I succeed flashing Lollipop I don´t want to risk WiFi-problems and other bugs since I´m not rooted
May I ask where I can find Custom Recovery for Note 3 SM-N9005 32gb 4.4.2 XXUGNI4?

I must have done something wrong... Or am I missing something?
I used Odin 3.09 and started it as administrator. Everything connected fine and I selected the .tar-file (the correct one) and the procedure went ok, green across the board! The phone rebooted and still all OK. Shut of the phone and after 30 sec I booted to recovery but the stock one was still there...
Any ideas?
Edit: I found this... Do I dare to use it?

Sorry I have no idea as I'm currently on the stock recovery after upgrading to 4.4.2.
Try to google search for the solution...
I made it work. I flashed TWRP with ODIN again but I unticked AutoReboot. When the flash was done I pulled the battery and rebooted straight to recovery. Since I had the new ROM on my SD-card I could flash it straight away.
Problem solved!

Hi. I have a NOTE 4 running ANK4 android 4.4 rooted with CWRP.
My question is: In order to flash a STOCK 5.0.1 tar from sammobile, what are the steps I need to follow?
Do I simply have to get the tar file and flash it through Odin?
Do I have to unroot/remove custom recovery first?
Do I have to factory reset and reset cache?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi,
your first question is correct
if you flash you will automatically lose root and recovery.. (no need to unroot and remove custom recovery..)
read my post #2 in this thread.. see link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3068738
for snapshot and more details
lastly it up to you if you want to factory reset etc.. it is not necessary
good luck
Download the file from www.samfirmware.com, make sure you have the CORRECT firmware for your SPECIFIC phone model.
While you are on the download page, there is an instruction, which I copied below:
Instructions:
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v.3.09
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
You don't need to root or do anything, just MAKE SURE that "Reactivation Lock" under Settings>Security is DE-ACTIVATED.
You don't necessarily have to do a Reset, but if you are having problems with force closing apps, battery drain etc... then do a Reset.
Good luck
Ok I just did that, ODIN said passed but literally nothing happened to the phone? lmao. It still shows android 4.4

Yes Because You are on Android Kitkat...Baseband Version Shows The Android version...So Cannot Flash Android's Same Base Band on Earlier Same base-band...
If You Do So than You'll be Again on Android Kitkat...
