If you have purchased an unlocked MOTO X from Ebay or elsewhere chances are it is from Latin America and is running a really old firmware, something like AmericanMovil.EN or similiar. If you want to be more up to date and have the best radios possible (for TMO anyway) you can download the SBF files from here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost_rcica/list.php and flash in RSD lite after unlocking the bootloader through MOTOs bootloader unlock. I saw several threads discussing the possibility but no one who had actually done it. So happy flashing and enjoy your up to date firmware..
I only Tested T-Mobile but am pretty sure that AT&T would work as well, I am just a T-MO customer.

Apologies for the dumb question, but I just wanted to be sure I have the rough sequence of flashing correct here for an America Movil XT1058 (i.e. AT&T). Assuming I want to cut over to AT&T firmware from America Movil, is this roughly what I need to do? Am I missing steps?
1. Root the Moto X using Pwnmymoto (Mexico .apk from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444957)
2. Install Clockworkmod on the rooted Moto X
3. Download the AT&T XT1058 image (from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ghost_rcica/list.php)
4. Use Clockworkdmod to flash the Moto X with the image from #3?
Is that right? If so, I'll just need to work out the actual specifics of flashing w/ CWM and so on, but I'm sure there are tutorials for that.

Last night I switched to 139.12.57.ghost_row.Retail.en.US (there's a flashable zip in the dev forum) and it doesn't have the bloatware ATT has. In fact, the APN settings where downloaded automatically and i got LTE. Seems like the phone can use any rom without problem
For any of you that have successfully flashed it with the AT&T, Ghost or other ROMs, would you mind doing a quick high level how to? i.e. here are the individual steps I used? I don't mean how to complete each step - that can be looked up - but when I see things like "Remember edit first the xml, you have to remove the getvar line on the xml" I get nervous, because I would not have known to do that.
What interests me most is your thoughts on the following themes:
1. It it possible to flash Rogers in the same way you flashed AT&T or TMO?
2. Is it possible to flash TMO sys with AT&T baseband or vice versa?
3. What about SIM unlock state, when you flash another cellular op, does it get locked?

Hi.
I feel like Motorola is a new company... I've been a terrible experience with the first Moto Razr and now I'm very satisfied with Moto X.
But I'm not so patient... I followed some instructions on how to flash kitkat from at&t (xt1058) with relative succes... Relative because I had to unlock my bootloader... But I have no regrets!
I recommend it!

Hi MaKTaiL! Welcome to new Motorola! Actually these process are easy, the thing is have attention on it.
The need to unlock bootloader on Motorola phones is that you open your phone to any custom and offical rom´s made for it. When you have bootloader locked you´re locked to that especific region and software. As Kitkat from AT&T it check the bootloader of your phone to verify that is originally from AT&T so the software can be signed to it. As a phone with unlocked bootloader, it wont check this status and will let you flash the software.
did i made it clear? Hope it helps.

Yes. That clarified a lot. Thank you very much! I have a few more questions if you will. I read that rooting can be achieved without unlocking bootloader. I'm currently running the latest firmware. Can I use RockMyMoto from Moto X Toolkit to root it? What if I would like to go back to stock (unroot it), what do I have to do?

The point is that Samsung devices already have bootloader unlocked or you will do it easily some time in the process to root, change kernel or things like that.
The Moto X comes with the bootloader locked for non developer devices, causing you to release these locks in order to flash some other carrier firmware.
Its simple as hell, but will cause you to loose the warranty.
Until now I'm patient about the Moto BR release time. But, if I see no efforts to release it until the end of this year, I will unlock and flash the at&t one... even tough the carrier name at top left notification sucks.
My guess is that camera had improve some how and I'm anxious to test it.
The only reason I need root is to install Cerberus app to system (really recommend it, two of my friends recovered their phones after they were stolen). But I still don't know if I should root it using the exploit or unlock the bootloader and flash SuperSU through a custom recovery. Still deciding,
That's great news ! I hope that Motorola do it.
Great news. But I'm kinda hopeless as even Rogers haven't released it yet.

I'm not sure if I really needed unlock the bootloader, but I have got some errors in the procedure and I thought that the problem could be the locked bootloader... Then I unlocked it and the problem was solved.
But I think that was a problem with my phone or something on my machine (I use a Macbook), because the procedure is intended to be done with locked bootloaders.

Any news?
Hi,
I discovered some things that I wanna share with everyone.
First: appears to every Moto G ROM supports dual sim, with a simple build.prop change.
-> adding persist.multisim.config=dsds into build.prop (for JB roms), it will add another signal meter to status bar and if you have a dual sim radio it will work. (I tested with en.GB rom and it works fine - used dual sim on a 'single' sim rom)
Second: I tested a lot of kitkat roms and no one has dual sim implementation at all. If you put persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds (kitkat env. variable name is different), it will display two signal meters but no more changes inside rom and if you have enabled lockscreen, you will stuck there.
Third and last: I'm running on a dual sim version the en.gb retail without any changes to radio/rom and it works like a single sim rom.
I'm not responsible if you brick your phone, but everything I said is true.
=)
EDIT: After some tweaks on MODEM/framework booleans/props/apks I got dualsim working! o/ It's not my interest describe steps to archive it, but its possible.
Posso perguntar como fez para atualizar ao kitkat no modelo brasileiro dual-sim? Agradeço.
May I ask how did you update your brazilian dual-sim device to kitkat? Thanks.
With a unlocked bootloader, do:
- flashed Blur_Version.14.71.8.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB
- installed ota.
We can go back installing Blur_Version.14.91.9.falcon_umtsds.Brasil.en.BR back.

Confirmed to work fine. Thank you buddy.
It's a little big step about crossflashing and to add dual sim support. I tried to do this dangerous move because I'm in travel and bored hahahaha
Remember to flash back to Brazil manually due to installing updated (kitkat) gpt.bin it breaks the flashall.sh script due to a error. But I'm now on xt1033 ROM (due to my free internet of second Sim). After I get back to my city I'll try to add dualsim support to cm11 unofficially.

There three US versions. GSM XT1032, GSM XT1034 and CDMA. The US GSM XT1032 firmware can be flashed on a UK/EU XT1032 handset, so the US KK GSM XT1032 firmware image may also work.
It might be worth checking the effect of having the non-brazilian radio / modem firmware has on gsm coverage, data connection and wifi.
I tried US last week but without flashing radio. It may works. But I do prefer en.GB due to Portuguese availability.

And have one sim working?
You doesn't need to change build.prop. You need to change build.prop only if you wanna try dualsim implementation built in ROM (only works on Motorola stock roms). If you wanna try en.GB kitkat just flash it like flashing any other ROM.

Only if you don't use Verizon service. When you flash the files from xt1092, xt1097, or xt1095 it loses CDMA, which means it won't work with Verizon's service. But if you don't use Verizon, then yes that will work fine, just don't flash the radio files and you can have marshmallow on the xt1096.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I am on verizon and was hoping that just leaving out the radio files would work to get MM on the phone. I was just assuming that if CDMA was working on the CM roms that it would be possible for it to work on a MM rom also.
Guess I will be satisfied with having u/l bootloader, root, and TWRP installed which is way more than I ever thought would happen to this phone so its all GOOD !

Anyone have any idea why I am receiving a "bootloader cannot be unlocked" message ("Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking") on the Motorola site. I have an XT1096. I previously had the same model and was able to successfully unlock. Had to replace phone with the same model from Asurion and am now receiving this message when I attempt to unlock. I have run the process several times and have even used the Data Scrub Tool to ensure that my unlock codes are formatted properly. No luck...

So when you flashed CM13 on your VZW MotoX it enabled simultaneous voice & data (not WiFi)? I just wanted to confirm this before I upgrade..that would be AWESOME!

How much was the asking price?
When you ship a phone from the US to Europe, there is a big chance of extra import duties (VAT etc.)
Also the bootloader can not be unlocked at this moment, so it's not yet possible to flash EU firmware..
Does any one know if original firmware can be flashed over existing firmware oh think my moto x force has corrupted os and I want to reflash stock android 6 to see if it fixes it but do I need to unlock bootloader.

The reason I want to reinstall the firmware is because out of the box sd card reader is not working to recognise any cards.
Yes, can be reflashed. I've answered you in another topic.
