Hi,
any experienced Developers out there with RTSP or other Streaming Protocol knowledge?
Hoping to get some insight in this field.
I am currently in the process of having an App developed, that will connect to the WiFi network of a camera, which has a WiFi module built in.
You could say it is similar to GoPro's App, as it includes functions such as remote controlling the camera (record/stop), switching between 4 recording modes, as well as reviewing the footage of the camera directly on the phone through the App.
On top of that, the App live-streams while the camera is recording, using RTSP.
How hard is it to maintain the App to constantly be compatible with the latest Android version? Are there fundamental parts of the code that would need to be changed from Android 4.3 to 4.4.2 for example?

Hello frnds,
I was just plain curious when a well known smartphone manufacturer started using the front camera for more than skype n photos. I wondered that my ICS tab has a front camera, a feature called face unlock which uses face features to unlock the device. So what if this camera and some code can be used to add features to the front camera n make it useful. I was also wondering can this data be utilized in other applications, this will open up then environment. Suppore a scroll, its done through touch n drag, our application can send this data to the foreground app i.e a document reader or a browser. The application can spoof it self as an input device in androids input menu. Thus it can do various things by sending appropriate data to apps. Im currently testing on windows using a webcam n some code to track eyeball n do actions through it. If im succesful enough Ill start coding an android app. But a healthy discussion and your views would be appreciated. So I hope ill see some replies. Tkcre.
many ics devices can be made to support face lock easily I don't have any idea about eye ball tracking
Hi All,
I'm writing a small call recording library for my rooted phone.
I saw in some application that recording is done through ALSA or CAF on rooted phones.
I couldn't find any example / tutorial on how to use ALSA or CAF for call recording (or even for audio recording for that matter).
I saw tinyAlsa lib project, but I couldn't figure how to use it in an android app.
Updated my question: I'm looking for a way to record system sound directly, preferablly not a platform dependant one. I saw some hints referring to AudioFlinger but could not found how to use it in an Android application.
Can someone please show me some tutorial or code example on how to integrate ALSA or CAF such a solution in an Android application?
Thanks!
I have the same problem.
Please can anybody help?
Sent from my GT-I9505G using XDA Free mobile app
I refined my question, hopefuly this will help with directing me to a solution... thanks for the help
Hello there!
As the title says i'm looking for an app to remote control my Nexus 5 wich uses android 5.1.1 and mobizen is not supporting inputs on it. My mouse won't work on it and the staff says they are working on it. But I need to capture my device for gaming/YouTube purpose and need an APP which can pass with high bandwidth(USB, because via wi-fi will possibly delay/buffer on 1080P)
Mobizen does exactly the work and i couldn't find out another app. Also my device is NOT ROOOTED and mobizen works on not rooted.
As an alternative i'm recording internally on the device using "Shou" but it reduces my FPS, my device get more hot faster and I can't have any more APPS or games or musics on my device due to low space during the recordings. BUT i can't record my cam while i'm looking down to the device(can?).
So getting my monitor which is ultra wide with full screen from my device which is 1080 and record with NVidia shadow play that records the entire Desktop while recording with my web cam C920 would be really great.
Hope someone knows any app that could do that without root(If rooting the device i still can receive updates via OTA I would go for a root) but if You only know rooting needed APPs put it here so I can think about rooting my device T_T.
Thank You very much for Your time, hope posted it on the right place.
@edit Just noticed...its in on the wrong place. Sorry....... this is HTC section.
Can someone please move the topic? I can't delete it. sorry.
Hi friends,
We have a new app called Share Via SMS , that lets you share images and audio over standard sms, without using the internet.
Our strength is in our compression and encryption engine and we plan to release a localized sticker bazaar in version 1.0 in the next 2 weeks.
Currently its in Beta and live on the play store. I am not a developer, so I did not know whether to post it here or in the developer sub-forum for Nexus 5, but the camera function of the app (when turned on to take a picture for compressing) is constantly vibrating and sometimes it even crashes. Can anyone help out. Please download the app try and provide feedback. I would like some assistance in fixing the camera function so that we can impeove the camera function of our app and therefore improve our compression further.
The app is works great on Nexus phone and its a great tool for displaced individuals who don't have access to the internet or can't afford data packages.

I wish I could post this in the Developer section, but the XDA forum wont allow me to as a new user, so it will have to go here instead. Hopefully it gets viewed by someone that can help.
My question is whether the new upcoming firmware (supposedly being worked on by Mad Catz), or any other unofficial firmware (CM12, Android TV, Remix 2.0) will ever have support for USB webcams to be used for Skype, Facebook Messenger, Camera, etc.
So far, I have had great success at getting apps from the Google Play Store to recognize both the video and audio drivers to be utiliizd in the app for taking pictures/video. However, the Skype app doesn't recognize the webcam because it isn't built-in like it would be on a smartphone.
Would it be possible to trick the firmware into thinking a USB webcam is a built-in camera? Or would something like that require further firmware support? So far, I can't find any apps that will do it.
In addition, I have found information elsewhere that relates to this same subject for other android TV boxes, which seems to prove that this stems from the firmware.
