Hello there!
As the title says i'm looking for an app to remote control my Nexus 5 wich uses android 5.1.1 and mobizen is not supporting inputs on it. My mouse won't work on it and the staff says they are working on it. But I need to capture my device for gaming/YouTube purpose and need an APP which can pass with high bandwidth(USB, because via wi-fi will possibly delay/buffer on 1080P)
Mobizen does exactly the work and i couldn't find out another app. Also my device is NOT ROOOTED and mobizen works on not rooted.
As an alternative i'm recording internally on the device using "Shou" but it reduces my FPS, my device get more hot faster and I can't have any more APPS or games or musics on my device due to low space during the recordings. BUT i can't record my cam while i'm looking down to the device(can?).
So getting my monitor which is ultra wide with full screen from my device which is 1080 and record with NVidia shadow play that records the entire Desktop while recording with my web cam C920 would be really great.
Hope someone knows any app that could do that without root(If rooting the device i still can receive updates via OTA I would go for a root) but if You only know rooting needed APPs put it here so I can think about rooting my device T_T.
Thank You very much for Your time, hope posted it on the right place.
@edit Just noticed...its in on the wrong place. Sorry....... this is HTC section.
Can someone please move the topic? I can't delete it. sorry.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there's a way to capture video of the Android OS/homescreen/apps in the same way that you can screenshot these things. I'd like to take a video of Google navigation and walk through the different features it has, but capturing video through an external camera generally ends up as very low quality.
I recall screenshots having to be taken (early on at least) only when it was linked with a computer and some portion of the dev toolkit. Is that still the case for screenshots? Does anyone know if there's a similar feature that would capture video when connected to a laptop or something? Thanks for the input!
Hey, you may use Android Screen Video Capture Tool for capturing currently displayed screen as a video for recording program demos to upload to YouTube or problem recreation
Or creating a set of videos answering your most frequently asked questions
You can create video tutorials for school or college class
Use to record a recurring problem so you can show technical support people
Create video-based information products you can sell
Record new tricks and techniques you discover on your favorite software program, before you forget them
I hope it would be helpful!
Also, if you are rooted, the app ShootMe takes screenshots and screencasts.

I usually use Camtasia, even in lite version it does the job. Launch the Android emulator on your SDK, start the camtasia video capture, start your app and acquire your video.
Don't forget to set a compression plug-in otherwise you'll have too large videos.
I prefer Broadcaster Studio. It,s free.
But i think he means on the Andorid device, not on the PC.
i am building an app that will have the ability to do this.

I temporarily took out the video option to speed up the processing. Until enough people want it I will put it back in.
Also until I deploy the apk you will have to be rooted and use adb or a terminal to use
the command
cat /dev/graphics/fb0 | netcat 9000
edit:
I am at work now. When I get home I can put the video option back in the code

It will work on honeycomb?
I don't have a honeycomb tablet so I don't know. This should work on a rooted tablet with busybox installed. I have the atrix which actually outof the box doesn't allow users to read the framebuffer without modifying the kernel. I doubt motorola has done this with the xoom.
The app is released in the android market. You will need to download and install python to run it on your phone. I am going to release an update to record video shortly.

Basic Wireless Mirroring for Android
Intro
There have been times when it would have been useful to output an email, website and other file on my phone to a public monitor or display. There have been various ways of doing this over the years, the TV Out function on the old Touch Pro devices, DLNA streaming, and HDMI ports. But, so far I have not found a way to directly replicate the screen, (mirroring) without the use of wires.
I have seen many threads from people who have asked this same question, and each time they have been told it's not possible, for various reasons. This project is to explore ways in which, however crudely to begin with, we can make this happen, and I have written a short brief below of why I believe it may now be possible. I am asking for help from anybody who thinks this may be achievable, or has something to offer that may help us in any way.
Theory
To create basic DLNA mirroring of your Android device for low frame-rate applications such as mail, browsing, and others. It is important to realize that it is highly unlikely to be able to create full DLNA mirroring for applications such as games using the proposed method, but who knows what can happen?
The basic mechanism would be to take continuous screen captures, between 1 and 30 per second, compress the screen captures into a suitable file format that can then be transmitted via DLNA.
I believe this should be possible - I have read that the new Sensation Camera App can record natively in MP4, in HD, in real time, which is fantastic, because as I understand it, MP4 works perfectly with DLNA. I have also noticed that in recent versions of Android, (I think FoYo+) there are parameters for ScreenCapture.
There may be a large lag using this method, but it is a start, and for showing a web page, text conversation, book, or text message, wirelessly on another display, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
From what I understand, not all Kernels would be able to do this but I am unsure, so if anybody has any theories, let me know!
Suggested Basic Features
These are features that I think should be included as standard
1) Be able to predefine video bit-rate and frame rate via user controlled variable integers.
2) View the temp folder
3) Disable auto-orientation settings to prevent screen tearing.
Suggested Advanced Features
These suggested features are a kind of wish-list once we can get a basic app running well enough.
1) Direct camera monitoring - sending the image directly from the camera to the external display. (Probably resulting in BIG lag!)
2) Custom external screen resolution, possibly by upscaling to 720/1080 equivalent via screen density.
3) Ability to kill screen backlight, but keep capacitive control for scrolling web pages etc.
4) Output file to SD card for archiving.
5) Switch audio between device and external screen.
6) A "Start / Stop" widget.
7) Enable notification bar settings access.

I have made a blank app with the essential UI components.
IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY FUNCTIONALITY YET, IT IS JUST A DUMMY!!!!!!
Download it HERE and tell me what you think so far.
If anybody thinks they can help with the core of the app, please get in touch!
I love the idea

Hi,
I would like to record a game on my Nexus 7. Screencast doesn't work with a Tegra 2/3 SoC (according to their play store page) and I haven't found another app with this function.
So, does someone know an app to record the screen of the N7?
I'm also extremely curious about this.
Unfortunately its the way tegra processors work I believe and after searching the internet there is rumors that the guy hope created screencast (lets face it, the only viable and good choice for an android screen recorder) rapped in his cape and hasn't been heard from for a while but hopefully I'm wrong!
Does anyone know any alternate solutions, I'v heard people say emulate the screen onto your computer with the android sdk then use a normal windows screen recorder but you just don't get the frame rate you would want from a recording.
Has anyone tried this? Apperantly you can mirror android or a whole bunch of OS's with a MirrorOp app and the Mctivia reciever. Just seeing if anyone has this and has used it with the Nexus 7.
Here is a youtube video of android mirroring.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBktJ6tT6r8
Here is a link to the mirrorop site... http://www.mirrorop.com/index.html
Here is a link to the Mctivia receiver site.... http://www.awindinc.com/mctivia/
Let me know what you think..
Thanks!
+1 Has anyone tried this with the N7?!?
very interested in hearing how this works
Yes, MirrorOp Sender works with my Nexus 7. You can download their Windows Receiver to try mirroring N7 to Windows PC first. But you need to root your N7. Hope Google can open screen capture permission for these kind of screen capture apps to work without rooting. N7 doesn't support Miracast and MHL.Google should open the door for the software developers to develop screen mirroring apps on Android OS.

I thought the great advantage, the very ethos, of Android OS is that it was open source and you wouldn't have any proprietary BS games like apple plays. But here Google goes limiting this otherwise fantastic device for no good reason. I'll by an mhl adaptor. They don't even have to add a port. Just let me mirror my screen!
has anyone figured out why the Xfinity TV app closes or how to fix this I have the newest version installed on my nvidia shield and the app closes after about 10 minutes of watching a live or on demand show and goes back to the Home screen? On my fire stick the app doesn't close but I get other playback error on live channels. The TV to Go app works 100% on my correctly it never closes but it lacks a channel guide and DVR abilities so I would rather use the X1 TV app instead. any suggestions on how to get the app to stop closing back to the home screen?
I can't even get it to authorize my device. I put in my info and it just gives me a retry error.

I think it did that for me too at first I had to call Comcast and tell them I to activate my account to use the X1 TV app they did something on their end and I was able to login and add my device to the system. . I wasn't able to use the app on any device though so that may have been something different

Same issue, want to get it working on the Shield. any fixes?
Have you tried this modded apk? It's been floating around and hasn't given me any issues. It even opens right to the live tv channel selection. I also created a banner so it shows up in the Android TV leanback launcher.
http://www.filedropper.com/xfinitytvgopackage
disregard, i just realized your post said not TV GO...
The reason xfinity tv app was closing was due to the blue tooth keyboard turning off after not being used got a WiFi one solved the problem or now just using the game pad right control stick. New issue is the newest version won't play content I have to use the old version of the app. Anyone have any ideas?
BUMP, we really need to figure this out! I was really enjoying the TV GO app working on Shield, now that it is retired we really need to focus on getting the replacement Xfinity TV app working!
Yes, mine does the same and won't work. Now it looks like it is dead and they have stopped the server. I have tried all different solutions. Is there a modded apk or a fix yet? I used to use the Xfinity TV Go and now it won't work. Xfinity TV won't even open.
I can confirm that the Xfinity GO app no longer works on the Shield TV and that the current Xfinity TV app crashes/closes after launch. My guess is that the app checks the type of device that the app is installed on and if it detects that it's an Android TV OS it automatically closes. I wonder if there's a way to modify the APK to either trick the device into thinking it is running on stock Android or remove the check altogether?

I rooted one of my shields so it is running full android OS 6.0 and in about devices it declares it's self as a Tablet thinking the same line of thought you are presenting. No dice. Downloaded the Tvgo app and it did just about the same thing. The app loaded and I got all excited then I selected some content I had recorded and live tv and both times it came up with something to the effect that your carrier does not support releasing DRM content to this device crap.. Ultimately they want you to rent one of their POS boxes. The silly thing is if that is what they are so worried about, losing that revenue stream, then why allow anything but their devices to run their content? Can still run on laptop or pc no problem. Apparently they are not aware of casting? It's all the same big corporation trying to hold onto market share by force instead of placing that energy into developing things people want along with the evolving tech. They will have to evolve or go the way of Block Buster video. LOL.
Hi Guys,
Been looking at this for a while. I have a Nexbox A95x Aml based Android box. The latest version of the Xfinity TV App (3.10.0.016) refuses to work . But... I have managed to find a earlier version that does. I can only presume after this version (3.2.1.028) they added the DRM type check , to check for either root or a "non approved" device.
I have tested this quite a bit and it does live TV and also you can even download (the holy grail lol) and watch shows offline. To do this, the app MUST be left on internal storage and not moved to the SD card.
The bad news is that at some point I bet Xfinity will force a update ie make this older version non working. But hopefully , someone here will be able to turn that off.
Dont forget to go to the Google apps store and disable Auto updates on this app ,otherwise your device wil just Auto install the newer version.
Hopefully , someone (much more skilled than me lol) may be able to compare this older version with the new one and disable DRM check for a newer version.
I have uploaded the version that works for me here:
h t t p://bit.ly/2gQn3eR
Sorry for the funny url , but XDA will not let me post urls until I have ten posts..
Any updates on making the official XFinity TV app work now that XFinity TV Go has been shut down?
I am also looking for someone who can mod the new Xfinity app (remove the HDMI check.......I think) to get it to work on the fire stick. The new version loads but will not open. The screen automatically goes blank and closes down.
I just wanted to let everyone here know that if you upgrade your shield to Nougat the Xfinity TV even older versions of the software that would work on prior to the new 7.0 firmware release now won't work at all so if this is something you want I would hold off on doing the 7.0 Nougat update to your shield I plan on reverting back my shield to regain the ability to use the Xfinity TV app.

Thanks for that information. Sucks for us Nougat upgraders though.
hey guys
I've got some pretty good news for those with the new Nvidia shield or have updated the old one to Nougat already and lost the ability to load the Xfinity TV app. I have found an alternative way to watch Xfinity on the shield Tv it is not an ideal way to watch and may not work for everyone's needs. I found that if I launch a game stream game on the Shield and Minimize the Game window before the game starts up or goes full screen, you will get a remote desktop like session which can be controlled with the the joystick on the gamepad. open a web browser and go to Xfinity and it works there is no lag or out of sync audio, it works pretty good, the Quality is better than casting a chrome browser tab from the PC, I also found controlling youtube from this remote desktop method is a far better interface than the Android TV app since you get the full website version of youtube instead of the slimmed down tv app. I should point out this nvidia Gamestream Remote environment is different than using a typical remote desktop client like the Microsoft Remote desktop client, most remote desktop clients don't offer the refresh rates needed to stream HD video without lags or audio syncing issues however the Nvidia Gamestream app does. I am sure there are other apps that can deliver a RDP session with the high refresh rates needed for viewing 1080p video over and RDP connection, I just haven't found one that works that will do this job. If anyone is aware of another app than can do this let me know I'd like to try it out.
