Hello,
My friend lost her Galaxy S4. The phone had the screen lock on. If she calls it, can the person who finds it answer it or does he need to unlock the phone first? and if so, what can be done?
Thanks!
LE:found out the answer in the meantime.. it's yes, you can answer w/o entering the code.

Does it have internet connection? If so, try this: https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
This will pinpoint the phone location.
Thank you! Will try it out!

I followed galaxys4root . com's tutorials on how to flash an i9505 (T-Mobile) rom onto your i337 (AT&T) and how to get around the bootloader and how to enable LTE bands on the phone. For the last step of making it truly a T-Mobile phone I tried inserting a T-Mobile SIM and unlocking the device. I called AT&T and got the unlock code but it won't work. I tried a few codes before that, thinking that it'd be my pin or last 4 of my social or whatever (stupid in hindsight). I've called back twice and the IMEI number I gave them was right and the unlock code they gave me was also correct. The last time I called back they said that if you enter the wrong Unlock code more than 5 times it permanently locks the phone to AT&T. I googled that but didn't come up with anything about that. The phone doesn't display anything about a "freeze" or anything, it simply shows an unlock/dismiss option when I put in a non AT&T SIM card. It works fine with an AT&T sim, I can make calls and send texts and browse the web, but when I insert the T-Mobile SIM I want to use it still asks for the unlock code. I've looked online and around this forum for hours and cannot find ANY method to get this thing unlocked. Any help?
Thanks in advance for your time...
What they are saying if you get the code wrong 5 times, it locks the phone permanently for ATT only. And I would call back to Att and say you are still having issues with the code, your in the system now with them, make them work. Get Em! My wife loves this kinda stuff, she is ruthless.
Really?

There probably is a way, but I would stay on them, I will look around and see if there is some info for you, and post it here.
Thank you

Hey guys, Im using LG G2 D801 (T-Mobile).
The phone out of nowhere stopped accepting the network I was using (other than T-Mobile) and the phone got locked. After searching all through the internet I found out the unlocking option code (number) but before entering the unlock code it says The phone is locked permanently, and I never ever even tried to unlock it before.
I would really appreciate if anyone would help me fix this, I just got this phone. I'm going crazy!

If you had another sim before on your g2 and it suddenly got locked then I suggest to contact Tmobile about that. Did you bought the phone secondhand? If so do you think it might've been stolen?

Umm, I got this phone from a person who's brother sent it all the way from US 3 days back. And that guy also used local network's sim for 3 days continously and he didnt even get a hint of such blocking thing.
Maybe they give a specific time, or the sim changing created the issue?

I am not sure but I think Tmobile can give us the answer why your phone got permanently locked out of nothing. So my best advice is to contact Tmobile about that cause they can't lock it like that with no reason.

Well your phone is already blocked abit :/ but you can still use wifi right? But I still wonder why they randomly blocked it.
Defo? If its country locked they cant just block it like that. Only thing why they can do that is if the phone got stolen. I suggest you to also search about the perm simlock or there is someway to bypass it. I will also try to search a bit but its getting late ;p.

Duh I replied ya, dunno where the heck my post went.
Anyways, yea I can use wifi and all and I'm afraid if I lose the grip to that thing too .
That guy tells me to reset the phone as I entered a new sim but I wont do it, as I've used G2 Vs980 and it somewhat had the same thing Whenever I used to reset the phone it used to get lock and wont work until I put a valid sim into it, but it had a procedure or unlocking or idk what should i call it. You just had to press a couple of buttons and the phone to used to bypass or skip that setup thing. But as Idk any kind of procedure or this model or idk if any procedure will on it either I cant do it.
Anyways, I'll go to a professional unlocker or something and see uf he can help.

Hey guys,
I work in a shop and like two weeks ago one girl lost her S3 Neo there, as she never came back I would like to find her to return the phone. But I can't access to any info bcs phone is locked. Is there any way to remove password without performing hard reset? If i do that, she will lose all her data and is is highly unlikely that I will find something on her phone to identify her.
Also I have her SIM and and I'm going to try with her service provider if they have any information about her.
Thanks,

Can't you get the sim out, put it in another phone and call someone in her contacts list to let them notify her?
Sent from my GT-I9301I
Good idea!!

That won't work if the sim card is locked, though. And does anyone even copy contacts to the sim card anymore?

Don't put the phone down?
On the other hand you might try this. I can't verify it works.

i had seen this before
but i mean , set lock on incoming calls just when phone is locked
not also when phone is unlocked:fingers-crossed:
+1
especially if you have immature friends. I can't leave my phone on the desk because of this, anyone can answer, it doesn't require any security input,
I would say its a design flaw even though its intended. messages, emails can have "contents hidden" but I don't see an option for phone.

If it's tied to your fingerprint, does it matter if the phone is locked or unlocked?
I don't see an issue as long as you use a fingerprint and not a password.
any ideas?
I had a friend to die this week and his wife does not know the pin for his S8 to get in it. Is there Anyway she can get into her late husband's phone and set up another pin??? Thanks for any help.
No answers yet. Surely there is a way to recover pin or change so can get into phone???
