P600 vs P605 - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) General

I'm currently thinking of upgrading my old Note 10.1 and started looking around and it seems that 10.1 (2014) is the best upgrade atm. \
1)I was wondering what were the main difference of p600 and p605 other than processor and telephony services on 605?
2)Is the processor on the 605 much better than the p600?
3)Can I disable the telephony icons on the p605? I'm not using its telephone capabilities and hate having icons that I wont be using.
These are the ones Im looking at
(p605 @ $510):

complete noob here myself, but from the research I have done last week or so, the 605 has the snapdragon chip, which is more likely to have more development on it, also quicker for graphics.. Depends what you want the tablet for, are you going to sell on in 12 months? If so, rooting is a no-no I'm guessing, whereas if you are likely to keep the tablet maybe pass on amongst family etc then rooting the phone can remove telephone gubbins, think stockymod does this.. I went for the 605 purely because it's quicker, and having the 4g option may well be useful in a couple of years time once the uk actually has a decent 4G network coverage.

Thx for the quick reply! Yeah, I have no worries about rooting, so it's good to hear I can remove the phone stuff. I want to verify though, does the 605 come with 32gb? If so I may just go with the 605. It's cheaper atm and who knows, maybe ill use the phone stuff down the road.

I'm not entirely sure, in the uk for example all you can buy is the wifi 16gb but I think it's because of the phone companies rather than samsung.. only 32 gb device you can get here currently is the notepro 12.2, which comes in at £650 lol!! and that is wifi only!!! Gotta love the uk, by the time they actually get the 4G model here, there'll be the 2015 model out!

My P605 is 32GB, bought it from Ebay.
P605 also supports rapid charging and not P600 - based on what I read before but maybe its different now. I can charge my tablet somewhere around 2 hrs to full and apparently, P600 takes more than twice the duration or longer.
Performance I think is almost the same. They both have almost the same amount of custom ROMs out there. P600 may have a bit more but not that much.

If you like to game on tablets, the p605 is better due to the better GPU.
The main advantage of the p600 on the other hand is that updates roll out faster.
Overall OP, given the prices you listed, I would go for the P605. Sure it's the last to get updates, but at least it will get the updates.

2 hours !! Find that very hard to believe... unless in the About Device section it says Fisher Price.
I have the P605 and it takes around 5 hours give or take depending if I turn off all the radios or not.

Well I don't know about your tablet but mine doesn't take that long. I don't let it get lower than 20%. Once it's below 25%, I usually plug it in.

Good choice. I actually ended up selling my p600 and replacing it with a p605. Haven't regretted it once.

Exactly the same situation with me. Sold my p600 and bought a p605. Happier than ever

Out of curiosity: why go through the trouble of going from a p600 to a p605, unless you realize that you need LTE on your device

Exactly. There are only two reasons (other than LTE) to get a P605 over a P600/601. 1) The P605 has Qualcomm's Quick Charge chip and it recharges about 35% faster than Exynos tablets. 2) More game developers optimize for Adreno 330 so some resource intensive games play better on the P605.
In day-to-day use you'd never notice the difference between Exynos and S-800. Things like transitions and opening/closing apps don't move off the A7 chip on Exynos or use more than two of the four cores on S-800. Battery life between the two seem comparable. This is from a Qualcomm presentation on why eight cores are overkill and it says 85% of apps use two cores and the other 15% barely touch the rest.

There was little performance difference between the two chips on the Note 3.
Here's my AnTuTu after 4.4.

in adittion i found the 605 a little bit more responsive than 600 in general. Remember i had both. same setup
ofcourse the main reason for selling the 600 was beacause after 6 months of use it had issues (not reading sd, problematic screen replaced, battery replaced etc)
so that was for me. I took the opportunity and swapped

Goophone S5

http://www.goophone.cc/goophone-s5.html
When the S4 was released some people on xda unwittingly bought a clone device. They found it was much slower than the real thing. Hopefully people will be aware of this device
So who's going to get it and tell me the specs?
On androidcarts.com it has sell this goophone s5 and confirm it the goophone s5 will has MTK6592 octa-Core processor and 2G RAM+16g rom.NOT LIke other site said it will has 32G RAM
I bought one and it has 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM (but only 11.3GB available)... 8mp back cam (interpolated 13)... it says Android v4.4.2 but with Antutu x it shows 4.2.1... It's impossible to root, I haven't been able to root for the 3 weeks I've had it and I have tried at least 3 dozen + different methods, programs, hacks, exploits... I can't even get a boot.img, recovery.img or any file out of it using mtkdroidtools and spflash Re: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38337401&postcount=5
I've written the vendor and he says he will get me the root method/sw from the factory but I haven't heard back from him yet
It is a pretty good phone overall, very fast, no lag, works great, decent screen, good wifi, good gps, 3g, full access to playstore, no bloatware, no chinese apps, Antutu is a consistent 27k +/- score... Working IR universal remote... Although I've only tried it on two tv's, it does work. multi-window works but I don't use it, air gesture works but again, don't use it, the only thing that really doesn't work is NFC and related items/hardware, and yet again, I never use these things... I don't even know anyone with a phone with NFC so what's it matter(?)... All original S5 cases and batteries are interchangeable...
I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10 for a clone because I cannot root it
Edit: I bought it on dhg f/ibaby888
Its a shame that people support this chinese fake copy phones.

Had one to fool around with, last week. Actually the clone is not that bad, however it is not even close to the feeling you will get using the original. So i recommend to buy the real thing.

I buy the phone I can afford... I'm not trying to put samsung out of business... Actually buying clones of samsung or any clone will not put them out of business... That's like saying if I don't buy any samsung phone I will put them out of business... I can't buy a samsung phone... it's too expensive for my budget... In my opinion that's what a clone is for...people who can't afford the original... Even samsung saying they are losing money because I buy a clone is false... if I can't afford $700 original I won't spend $700 on samsung, but I can afford a $200 clone, samsung is losing money?? HOW?? Get Real!!... they would not get $700 from me...it's too much for me to spend!! I buy the clone because of the 5.7 inch screen and all the cases and accessories that will fit it... A lot of the features that work on the samsung orig. do not work on the clone so OBVIOUSLY I do not buy the clone because it has all the same features... Do you really think that all of the people that buy a clone for the price would STILL buy a clone if they could afford the $700 samsung phone?? Don't be ridiculous!!
I use a discount carrier too (JoltMobile)... does that mean I'm ripping off AT&T too?? I can't afford AT&T so I spend what I can afford...
Just like I can't afford a samsung so I spend what I can afford... Sure there might be other %.7inch phones that aren't clones but they have no cases or accessories...

Wait. So you're implying that if the people didn't buy a clone device, they would actually shell out 2x more for the real device?
get real.
Tell me how a company like Goophone has any impact at all on a giant like Samsung.
Some people aren't as fortunate as you and that's all they can afford.

[TALK] Galaxy S2 in 2014

Well, 3 years after it's release, here we are, CM support and a great community. I love my s2 but i cant help but wonder sometimes if i should make an upgrade . I really like the performance in games cause in my eyes they are the ultimate benchmarks. Modern combat 5, flawless! yesterday though I downloaded assassins creed pirates from google play it lagged a lot more than i expected. the game is playable though and i can complete the game. What do you all think? Any speed ups that might help?
oh n im really looking forward to seeing android l on this device.

I think we will see android L in our phone but judging from the state of kit kat + all custom roms it would be unstable and laggy, without the exynos sources our device just cant be upgraded anymore, i will also upgrade when chrismas comes probably to a Lg g2. As for speedups im trying SlimSaber Reborn coming from stock and i must say its snappier and much faster at opening apps but nothing like stock in terms of battery and stable status!

The apps are getting more demanding and no updates means no protection from serious bugs, i feel its getting slow and cant keep up. I mean , i compare it to my nexus 7 2013 and it feels so much snappier and the s2 feels like an old relic
Believe me, i was dreaming of getting a s2 back in 2012 when i got my first android phone but technology is moving so fast that we need upgrades constantly. (If only samsung released kitkat for this phone it would be soooooooooooo much better)
Oh btw if you are planning on rooting your new phone with roms i think it would be best not to go with exynos, i dont know if it has changed for the new phones like s4 now but i dont want my phone's development to stop again because of no sources!

Thanks for the heads up man! currently i'm running CM11 M9 overclocked to 1.4ghz and GPU at 400mhz. I'm a huge fan of Samsung and i will be staying with them for a while. If I can hold out until next year I will but if the next few games run laggy on the s2 i will upgrade without a second thought (like i said they are my ultimate benchmark tests)
so do exynos devices like the s-series have sources to develope higher android version or not?
i'm planning to exchange my s2 to a s3 with a small extra money, but im wondering is it a good trade and do i get enough support? at least better than s2?

I think the s3 is a nice device. I've checked it out and the performance is really nice. The LTE versions are even getting KitKat. I'm wondering if I should do that too, I can get a s3 at a very low price.

for that i'm not so sure, since my friend's s3 cant even play minion rush after around 4 months of normal using without root, and then she has to have it get full wipe and other stuffs...
and there lies another problem: should we get a LTE version to have sammy support, or the intl version to get xda support? since im still wondering do exynos devices have sources or not?

Lol I understand... But my s2 runs minion rush greatly (though there is lag in the menus) I'm not sure about the Sources part though but I'd go for i9300 with the XDA support. Sooner or later Samsung will drop the s3 like it did the s2 n we'll sorta be in the dust.

Well the s3 is a nice phone but there are better alternatives but if you are getting it i highly recommend installing NeatRom if you are going to root.
Dorimanx is doing great kernel work on the g2 and the stock roms work well. Bootloader will hopefully get unlocked in next few weeks devs are working on it. Also supports slimsaber.
Battery life is good i hit a new record compared to s2 and extended battery

the s2 is roughly 4 years old and has had 6 major android revisions (2.3, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 PS: the last 3 are not official) even though im using it as my daily driver i would not mind getting an upgrade as it is really starting to show its age

Knox is awful, yes you can disable but you can never completely disable it and you'll end up with intermittent WiFi its really annoying. Beware!
Yes even I use to brag around with my s2 and KitKat....(ppl here have very less idea about aosp),.
But lately the games started to lag a bit and details in graphic are not standard...kinda pixelated.
Also the battery is getting worse. .I barely get 2 hrs screen on time.
Also the phone shoots up to 70c temp.
And Roms lately are not stable.
I'm thinking of buying Mi3...as it is 220$ and the performance and design and battery life is top notch.
Also the sources will be released soon.
As s2 is my first android phone I don't want to sell it but currently m cashless and have no choice but to sell at 150$

Also heads up guys never ever rely on exynos.....I suggest a Sd800 CHIPSET as it is common bow

mine is having the same problems: worse batterylife, cant stand the heat, roms and kernels are not very stable with slight oc or uv...
but im planning to go for a zenfone from asus though, to see how intel cpu is doing and to see if there is any kind of future for those intel devices, since i think there are no sources for them just yet

I would rather go with Mi3....I purchased it for my friend and used it for a week and it is amazing love the build quality
2 cons
1. No kernel sources.....but will be releasing soon
(Cm and Mokee alpha builds are already started from today)
2. Phone height. It is very tall for 5" display. Could easily fit a 5.2 or 5.3" in there

i dont have that much money though, and im already using miui rom on my s2
Zenfone also cost almost same price right?

think twice when you choose this device

Did you know the s6 doesnt suport HDMI to TV as it is possible with s3,s4,s5 even 3d, note 3, note 4. so you need chromecast also the s5,note 3 and note 4 have longer battery on same usage.
Another fact is that the 32 bit CPU in note 4 has a slightly higher score in futuremark benchmarks as the s6 means its GPU performs worse while both devices have the same screen resolution. The antutu score is just higher because its CPU performs better. The new tegra x1 has even twice the gpu performance as the s6 and will be in some devices this year.
Its not waterproof. Supports no SD card. U cant replace its battery. People report even Rotation issues after wireless Charing. Tw gets laggy as hell. & im pretty sure nobody noticed it that the only reason note 4 had no official lollipop update to make people buy the s6. Even s4 hat the update so dont claim.
It looks good. And is well built. But you dont build a fast car that cant fit its fuel Inside. So this devices is more a test, overpower experiment of samsung. This fall we will see the note 5 with redicilous 4k resolution. And its overpower again just to show that they "can", f(_)cks not given about the consumer & shots been fired from apple. Iphone 6 still almost the same performance with 1/3 of the ram s6 has.
By the way the new TV box by nvidea tegra x1 is already 4k. And it does handle doom3, crysis 3 and unreal engine4 easily. And yes its Android and we will see it on smartphones too.
At the moment note 4 is the better choice because the images will look sharper on it/ due larger screen, you will have more fun with it.
Yeah. I've been thinking double twice before bought the s6, love it. My s5 still rock steady as my backup if my s6 runs out of juice

S6 5.1" smaller size, that people's prefer than Note 4 5.7" and other things, that makes people's to choose S6.

So you wrote this thread to make people feeling bad who bought one? Ever realised that people actually did their research or not? BTW your s4 has equal score with benchmarking on the same OS version and standard rom? Lel....
Normally I don't reply on these idiotic posts.
But your slanter and crying about the S6 makes me more think like you want one but can't afford it? Correct me if I'm wrong but I seriously can't find a legitimate reason why you should qq so much about something you supposedly not like.
None of the 'downsides' you listed are concerns to me. It's really up to each buyer.
What kind of archaic world do we live in that we have to do HDMI out still? Man buy a chromecast or any miracast dongle on amazon.
S6 owner here, S3 as previous devices, my wife using I9505(search it if u dont know).
my aunty and uncle use N3, my best friends N4, this listed phone are all phone that i serviced phone consistancely, regarding what i know so far, N3 had quite less lag on default TW, only lag in gallery as everyone know(only whn its a lot of photo inside) and i dont see N4 having higher score in any benchmark app comparing to my S6, yet S6 TW rom really have the light apps vs N4...
i already installed a lot apps on my phone and i still running smooth, no heat up issues, battery last long enough as only 2550mAh vs S4 2600, SoT 5hrs vs 2.3hrs, 14nm vs 28nm, 50fps(1440p) vs 38fps(1080p) on antutu benchmark test.
Yet.. google officially claim that bug on android 5.0 will be solve in android 5.1. Im living in Malaysia, S4 i9500 already on Lollipop (no doubt), N3 also already got its Lollipop update last week.
ram vs performance, did anyone say that ram mean performance, what do you mean by almost the same performance with 1/3ram they got. Comparing different platform is quite not fair as u should know its different in many point, take a window mobile n compare then?
android can play in many ways, its not like old time, 3GB of ram, multitasking is not a problem in S6. i dont think apple can do it... (jail breaken ipad can use split screen, try it and u will know why ram so big in S6). even my S3 got better ram vs ipad2.
In short, that up to everyone's point of view. i love S6 camera, the design of the phone. even i lost adcard support, but usb otg available for all android phone, i lost change able battery, but i just need to charge below 1Hour, because 1Hour give 90% Battery. With minimum 5Hours of SoT daily usage is good enough for me, including 2hours on CC or SW(both online Games).
the s6 is stop gap phone for me, waiting for the note5 because i broke my previous phone. The S6 is a very nice phone though, nicest one I ever had
could please some mod close this idiot topic that steals space to other ppl n devs, thanks
One thing you can't level at this phone is lag. TW is still perfectly snappy on mine since I ditched Nova again for it. Apps reload but as long as you have animations on default, by the time the app is on screen it's reloaded.
The screen issues I have were present on Note 4 anyway.
As for using it with a TV, not interested.

The 2 things I put in bold in your message just kill your credibility.
My S6 is full of apps, rooted and customized like hell, yet I've never seen it lag (not even a bit, so the "like hell" seems completely bias).
About the benchmark, you really want to chose the single benchmark that suits what you want to say to prove your point?
What about the fact that every single other GPU benchmark (GFXBench,...) give is completely in favor of the S6 (by far)? Yeah I guess you don't really want to talk about those
What is OP trying to achieve here? Theres already a thread about things like that.

I am absolutely not taking sides with the OP here, but I have to say that I was a bit annoyed that Samsung removed the HDMI out for the S6.
Serious question: I often go on holiday to a house which has no wifi, can I somehow still use chromecast to stream films from the S6 to the TV in the house (the TV has HDMI ports)? I used to to this all the time with the MHL cable on my other android phones and it worked incredibly well.

How has been your "Search of the incredible" so far?

It's been a while since the ZF2 is released.
ZF2 is not a flagship killer. It was never advertising as such. The selling point of the ZF2 is the biggest bang for the buck.
So, why did you buy it? Did the phone impressed you in those aspects?

Bang for the buck, I came from S2 then S4. When the S6 came out at exorbitant contract price and no micro sd slot, I looked around and did the maths. The Zenfone 2 gave me twice the ram and 4 times the storage of my S4, it was faster, gave me the micro sd slot that the S6 lacked.
On top of that I could get it for less than half the price of a S6, that meant that going sim only and buying the ZF2 I will have saved enough on my old contract terms to cover the cost of the phone in 7 months(or 5 compared to the S6 contract).
I concur with BigDavy. This phone has such bang for the buck. The specs are better than phones at twice the price. Still loving it after 8 months.

found the incredible (almost literally).
i bought this phone because of a reviewer saying, that this phone has very good cell reception.
The house I live in right now (temporarily) has very thick stone walls (around 100cm, 400yrs old house) and many phones I tried, struggled to get 2G reception (Xperia Z2, Medion x5004, HTC One m8 to name a few..)
When the ASUS.. well.. I still cant believe.. it has 3 constant bars for 2g (others had barely one) AND in most parts of the house also 4G LTE. that was incredible.
I know that the Intel chipset isn't very battery friendly, but now that I tried it.. it is snappier than a snapdragon 800 series. my next phone? anything with an Intel chipset.
I moved from Galaxy S2, it had Dual 1.2GHZ (max over clock to 1.6 but it will burn the chip soon) with 1GB Ram. So you guess what, to me it felt like moving from a dying horse to a Lamborgini.
It's really incredible that I got this holy awesomeness for $200 ;D Unfortunately, there isn't too much support for the 5" models around here, so I selected the second option. I would like to see more support for it

I came from a Samsung S3 that was slower than a wet week
As the ZF2 isnt sold here in Australia I took a chance and it has turned out okay....I have had one problem of the camera not working but that was fixed under warranty (took 3 weeks to get it back) but the phone is powering along now...just waiting for the Marshmallow update to come to see whether I put a custom ROM on it or not...

I'm very satisfied. Moved from an iphone 5 to the 550ML (Z008) just after it was launched. Wanted the 551 with 4GB, 2.3ghz and 1080p but had to settle for the cheaper one with 2GB, 1.8ghz and 720p (in Japan ASUS only sold the 551 at inflated prices, and it was also a bit overpriced from importers). The 1.8ghz cpu is plenty fast enough for my needs and the 720p sceen is better than I expected. 2GB RAM is a bit short when using the stock 5.0 firmware that has memory management issues, but is plenty when using CM. I love the size, the feel of the phone in my hand and its snappy ux performance. Bang for the buck, even at a slightly high importer price, has been incredible, and going unlocked has enabled me to switch to an MNVO and save an absolute fortune every month in carrier charges (the phone had basically paid for itself in about four months). I'm now pretty tempted by the astonishing value some Xiaomi or LeTV devices offer, but have to keep reminding myself that I love my ZF2 and it still has plenty of life in it. Will use it until the battery starts going.
I was using G3 when I bought Zenfone 2 (I used Zenfone 5 before G3), and I have to say that Zenfone 2 will be my last phone made by ASUS, too much bugs, slow update (even 2 years old G3 got Android 6 for a month!).
ASUS is just promoting their new phones, they don't care about their old customers.
At first, i hesitated to buy the ASUS ZenFone 2 as it uses an Intel chipset, but after going through every review on the internet, i made my mind. This is the phone i was looking for. Best in class performance and features from a famous brand known worldwide for just under $200. I wanted to buy the 4gb ram model, but was tight on budget and opted for 2gb model. Was quite happy with my buy. Now i'm even more happy with the excellent custom rom support it has got, gets the same attention as the higher end model.
Just "IN SEARCH OF INCREDIBLE" for official OS update (MM 6.0.1) from ASUS.
64 bit processor + 4gb ram + 5.5 screen (optimal size in my opinion) + decent storage capacity + storage expansion + reasonable price.
Upgraded from Galaxy Note II.
Met my expectations so far (have it since Nov. 2015), only two problems - when I receive calls, people start hearing me with a delay, and the phone has been bent a little

anything good (price & features) about ASUS ZF 2 except too much bloatware & rear speaker (crackling problem), so far ASUS ZF 2 is the best for the buck
Scored it 8. -2 for...
-Current gaming performance -- early videos show that this is a gaming beast for it's price. Unfortunately, I don't experience such smoothness right now, even after reflashing and playing on performance mode.
-Battery drain from the latest update -- Not sure if it's my fault or what, but I'm getting massive wakelocks from Calendar Storage. I think that's the culprit for my battery drain. **Already did factory reset and reflash, same thing**

Gotcha, I'm having a hard time deciding on SD 820 or 821. Not sure if I want to spend an extra $$$ for a little speed bump & 256GB storage (is pretty tempting though) but not worth 300+ its asking compared to the 820 version.

It certainly would be nice to have that much fast internal storage; but since I'm specifically trying to avoid $800 phones, it would probably be counter productive in my quest. I've actually found I'm pretty good with 64GB and not even using expandable storage with my phones. Still have room for apps, games, and some locally stored music/videos. I use the 2nd SIM slot with my data happy T-Mobile SIM card and just stream whatever isn't stored locally. Keeping the AT&T SIM for everything else.
But once I realized I don't need to keep 2,000 hours of music/videos with me at all times, it worked out pretty well. That's what the tablet is for.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of doing since I got plenty of time to make up my mind.
I am using the 6/64 version for over a month (got it Sep/2) and everything just speedy and smooth. It seems Asus does get the multitasking right with the help of 6G RAM. Everything is just snappy and responsive even with tones of background App running!
Asus has also built in functions like Greenify which prevents apps from auto loading in the background (However, in contrast to Greenify, once the App is load, it will not stop it like Greenify does.) Anyway with 6G RAM, it's really no need to remove app from memory due to memory management's point of view. However the prevention of auto start sure saves battery as well as unwanted background data hug, once the app is terminated.
The camera is decent enough and take good photos even at low light. 4G signal strength is on par with all my other phones but handles spotty receptions better (for instance, when in a moving train full of people, the phone handles the switching of base pretty good with virtually no disconnection on voice call. Basically everyone's phone in the train is switching at almost the same time.)
As for internal memory, you could always insert a 128G SD card into the 2nd SIM slot. Officially 2nd SIM and SD card cannot co-exist (they share physical space), but there is a hack you could do to make them co-exist. The phone does handle 2 SIM+SD without any issue. I don't think it's necessary to go to the SD821 version with all those extra $. The speed up will be felt only marginally, with everything app already starts almost instantly on SD820.
QC3.0 charge means when you are low on juice (SD820 is a power hug), you can get it going in very short time (QC3.0, 18W, currently working with only ASUS' stock charger. Other chargers will work only upto QC2.0 speed, due to apparently safety reason) The phone never feels warm with regular heavy using (I don't do gaming, though) but do get pretty warm during 18W charging.
With the N7 drama, to be on the safe side, I always charge my phone with a 5V1A charger when I sleep. In this scenario, it will take about 3.5h to reach full charge from 0%. The phone does not feel warm at all when charging in this way. (room temperature is around 25~30dC)
Conclusion: No big let down on this phone as of yet. (except no root method is available yet). The only major issue I am aware of is the lack of availability. So go grab one if you can!
p.s. In case you are curious, I live in Taiwan and this phone cost me only USD$50 with a 30 months contract, no sim lock.

thanks for your mini review. Unless something better comes out, I'm going to go with Asus 3 Deluxe.
I'm actually debating getting the 5.5" Snap Dragon 625 version at $399. Might be a nice step up from my HTC One A9 (SD 617).
One thing that bugs though is the unbalanced black bezel around the screen that the Deluxe versions have. The regular Zenfone 3 isn't like that.

I don't have experience with SD625 models but unless budget is your concern, I'd recommend to go to SD820 since you got fewer compromise.
Like the old saying, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder", thus for me the "unbalanced" bezel actually looks better since I use phone in portrait orientation almost 95% of time and larger lower bezel actually looks more "Stable" for me.

Huawei Mate 9 is very tempting also at 5.9" but not so sure about the SoC since I'm so use to SD and Exynos. I like the bezel w/o the home button and non-curved screen.
