seems apks are installed to internal storage, then what is the function of internal sd card?
which kind of data would be save to internal sd card?
btw, it seems /data folder is on the internal storage, how can i move this folder to internal sd card?

It's kind of complicated.
Huawei's setup on U8800 goes like this:
/data - standard APK installation, all settings & other OS stuff saved in there.
/HWUserData - almost exactly like external SD card, but apps cannot be installed on it (if I remember correctly external SD was default).
The reason it was designed like this was to enable media storage without SD card in pre-ics. Nowadays, most devices use combined /data (/data used for both apks, and also media like audio, files). The reason /datamedia is used is to have the same space available, but you can use it for how you want. On U8800 we cannot do that (standard 600MB for /data, 2GB for /HWUserData in stock).
Oh, and since /data and /HWUserData are different partitions, you really can't move these around. They are mounted onto Android.

When I have installed games like Sniper vs Sniper, Homerun Battle 3d and Asphalt. They all have me to download more files but they are always installed on the internal SD instead of the External SD. Is there a way to prevent this?
anyone have any ideas?
Any reason why you would NOT want them on the near 2 gigs allocated?
I want the installations to go on the External Card and they are all installing on the internal card. Maybe the thread topic is misleading....
No, just curious why 2 gigs is not enough. Especially when faster than external. Doesn't make sense...
Its the way the SDs are mounted. Sdcard/sd is the external. The app just looks for sdcard/ which is the internal.
He's taking about the internal sd not the /data apps dir.

Yes thats what im referring to. I want everything to be on the external. On other phones like the Evo, the games "extra" files are installed on the Ext SD Card.
correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is there are 3 storage options:
1. Phone's 2GB internal memory: this is where apps are installed
2. Phone's 12GB internal memory: internal memory you can mount to PC and move files back and forth
3. External SD card slot: can use up to 32GB of microSD card here.
OP, what exactly are you looking to do? Put the apps installed on the 2GB internal ROM on the external SD card? I don't think this is doable w/o rooting, maybe 2.2 Froyo will have it.

Games like Homerun Battle 3d. When you install it, it tells you that it has to download more information to store on your SD Card. On the HTC Evo, the downloaded information stores on the external SD Card in the /com2us folder. On the Vibrant, the extra information that is downloaded stores on the internal SD card in the same folder. I would rather have all the extra info store on the EXT SD Card.

Sorry I wasn't really clear on my on my post. Most phones don't have an internal SD card, so the standard mount for the external SD card is the sdcard/ partition, so the app automatically mounts the data there. You'll have to reprogram the app to see the SGS external SD card mounting directory of sdcard/sd

so the problem is the the phone is using the sdcard memory for internal use, and the internal memory for sdcard use. I was getting low memory errors.
the card now has another entry.. sdcard home reads as follows..
asec
emmc... .android secure, lost.dir in this folder
sdcard ... .android, fix permisions, lost.dir, tmp. in this folder
secure
how do i get my phone and sd storage back to normal
Use a stock rom, format your sd card.

Hey everyone!
I have an "I wonder?"
I wonder if there is a way to make the tab read the external sd card as the internal one and vice versa.
The tab has "3" memory locations. build in, internal and external.
You see, the external slot can hold a card up to 32 or 64gigs. My internal is, well, getting really low.
There are so many apps and games that store their info on the internal sd card, and if you physically move the info to the external it makes you redownload it. Some games are like a gig download!!! There is one in particular that is 1.5!
Any thoughts?
Hey guys i have a question, on my ideos x5 it says that i must have 2GB internal memory.. But in SD properties where i can check my free space it says that my internal SD Card is Total 2GB and i have free 2 GB's and beneath that i says that my internal available memory is 395MB?
What is this?
Thank you very much!
This got me confused too.. I think the 2GB one is an internal one where it installs the apps or something, the external one is the one you put in and the other one is where it holds it's ram maybe?
This got me confused too.
If you go to Settings > SD card and phone storage you will see:
SD Card, mounted as /sdcard, which is your external SD card.
Internal SD Card, mounted as /HWUserData, which is the 2GB build-in SD card, you cannot install apps there if you have an external SD card.
Internal phone storage, mounted as /data, part of the NAND storage (so-called ROM), which is the data partition for the data of apps installed on phone.
When I move apps to my SD card they still continue to use space (albeit less) on my internal storage. Several appear to keep data in the internal storage.
For example, I use the link2sdl app. Even when "moved" to the SD card, it still uses 7.3MB of internal storage for the application (it was 24.6MB before I moved it to the SD card), and 18.7 MB for Data. Is there any way to move an app COMPLETELY onto the SD card?
Hello everyone, I would like to extend my internal storage. I am using Android M on my XT1562.
I tried to use my SD card has an internal storage but unfortunately it stops formatting at 30%. After a reboot the SD card is shown as internal storage but if I open ES file explorer for example the storage capacity is still 10gb (which is the capacity of the internal storage). So I will have to use it as an external storage as before.
Is there any option to change for example the download folder/the install folder for new apps to the external SD card? Or do I need to root the phone?
Another question is if I could use my SD card as internal storage how about transferring files to my PC? How does that work?

Once you format your SD card as internal storage, it can not be seen in any file manager. Also it cannot be seen on pc. Although you can move data through settings which shows your internal and SD card storage but you can only view it through by going to settings.
You cannot the change the location of apps to be installed in Android 6.0

Once you have set the SD card to internal any apps that you install that could previously be moved to the SD card will install to the SD card, any apps that could not be previously install to the SD card will install on the internal memory.
