When I move apps to my SD card they still continue to use space (albeit less) on my internal storage. Several appear to keep data in the internal storage.
For example, I use the link2sdl app. Even when "moved" to the SD card, it still uses 7.3MB of internal storage for the application (it was 24.6MB before I moved it to the SD card), and 18.7 MB for Data. Is there any way to move an app COMPLETELY onto the SD card?

Hey guys i have a question, on my ideos x5 it says that i must have 2GB internal memory.. But in SD properties where i can check my free space it says that my internal SD Card is Total 2GB and i have free 2 GB's and beneath that i says that my internal available memory is 395MB?
What is this?
Thank you very much!
This got me confused too.. I think the 2GB one is an internal one where it installs the apps or something, the external one is the one you put in and the other one is where it holds it's ram maybe?

If you go to Settings > SD card and phone storage you will see:
SD Card, mounted as /sdcard, which is your external SD card.
Internal SD Card, mounted as /HWUserData, which is the 2GB build-in SD card, you cannot install apps there if you have an external SD card.
Internal phone storage, mounted as /data, part of the NAND storage (so-called ROM), which is the data partition for the data of apps installed on phone.
I am on the newest update (yeah, stupid me, whatever). I moved some apps to the SD card, and downloaded some big games (GTA 3, GTA Vice City) but noticed that after the download, there was significantly less space on the internal storage but barely any of the storage space on the SD card went down. It says that the SD card data and the SD card app has >1 GB there for each of the applications, but the total (along with other apps) in the actual SD card is something around 800mb, and my storage space in my internal storage has decreased by a few gigabytes.
Is this issue because android is allocating most of it to the internal storage folder /sdcard instead of the external card?
Also, is there any way to get Google Play Music to download songs to the SD card instead of internal storage?
Update: Never mind, I uninstalled some apps I haven't used in a long time, then moved the apps off of my SD card and to Device Memory.

I have a 16 GB external SD Card, I have apps which I run off of the SD card. I want to move to a new 32 GB SD card I bought. I don't have enough space to move any of the apps on the external SD Card back to the internal memory. How can I switch to the 32 GB SD card. (I tried just copying everything on the 16 SD card to the 32 GB SD card. But that didn't work, the apps didn't run.
Is my only option to uninstall the apps on the External SD card, move copy all the (non-app) data to the 32GB SD card, and then reistall all the apps I removed and then move those to the external SD card?
What things are usually hogging all the internal memory? I wish I could free up space. I use ES3 and Drives to explore and manage files on my phone.
Would the apps I move off of the External SD Card be moved to External Storage (not System)?
External Storage: 8.76GB, Free 475MB
extSdDard: 13.7, Free 1.16GB
System: 2.21 GB, Free 488 MB
Hello everyone, I would like to extend my internal storage. I am using Android M on my XT1562.
I tried to use my SD card has an internal storage but unfortunately it stops formatting at 30%. After a reboot the SD card is shown as internal storage but if I open ES file explorer for example the storage capacity is still 10gb (which is the capacity of the internal storage). So I will have to use it as an external storage as before.
Is there any option to change for example the download folder/the install folder for new apps to the external SD card? Or do I need to root the phone?
Another question is if I could use my SD card as internal storage how about transferring files to my PC? How does that work?

Once you format your SD card as internal storage, it can not be seen in any file manager. Also it cannot be seen on pc. Although you can move data through settings which shows your internal and SD card storage but you can only view it through by going to settings.
You cannot the change the location of apps to be installed in Android 6.0

Once you have set the SD card to internal any apps that you install that could previously be moved to the SD card will install to the SD card, any apps that could not be previously install to the SD card will install on the internal memory.
Hi Guys,
My dad receive hundrets of picture in whatsapp everyday, making his internal memory go to full on a weekly basis.
My question is: when formatting it as an internal memory, will those pics & videos go to the SD card after formatting it ?
Can someone with an SD card as internal memory configuration confirm me that?
SD card will become internal memory, one and the same. So essentially no more sd card. However, if you don't treat sd card as internal memory then you can tell the camera and other apps to save their files on the sd card and therefore have control what goes where.
