[Q] How to get best battery life (G2) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been reading a lot on customr ROM's for the G2 (I have a D802) but I was wondering what you take was on the following dilemma. One of the most important things for me is to maximize the battery life but I would also like to have a lot of customizing options. Therefore, at the least the way I see it, I have the following 2 choices:
A)
Root + improved kernel + install Xposed Framework
B)
Root + Custom ROM (CM11, PA, ...)
Maybe it's even possible/necessary to install the Xposed framework on top of the custom ROM?
What would result in the best battery life experience, stock rom or custom ROM?
Thanks for your input!

It is possible to use xposed framework on custom roms.

Most Bloat Free and Fully Optimized Custom ROM (4.4.2)?

Hey guys. I've tried out many many ROMs since the past week. But I can't find a ROM worth my taste (all ROMs are PERFECT don't get me wrong)
My requirements are (just) these.
1. The slimmest, fastest 4.4.2 ROM. Be it Stock be it customisable. I. Need. Speed!
2. Battery Life.
3. A Custom Kernel (speedy ofc) to go with it.
Current combination:
Nexus 5 Experience ROM by BoyKioy.
AK Kernel v309.
Dalvik / Bionic Libraries
Greenified
Thanks.. I would love to try out your suggestions!

Purity is the answer for all your question. Fast,Stable and with Hellscore kernel battery friendly. :good:
Most bloat free? Without doubt it is KitKalo. You can find it in android dev section. Good battery life with matrix kernel.
Pure speed v3? Haven't used it but from what I've read it's the fastest and most bloat free

In your exp, best custom rom for battery life?

Self explanatory. Which custom roms have you guys used that have given you the most noticeable improvement in your daily battery consumption? Going to install TWRP soon and would like a good idea of where to start. Thanks!

Run stock for awhile and then try some custom roms... I like the AOSP ones.

[QUESTION] Kernel and Rom

What is the best kernel and rom so far? that gives you a good battery performance that can take 4 hours or more then no drain while idle, good front cam and no lag
Thank you...
LOL, if you are looking for better/lengthier battery backup then a good kernel is what you need. I will suggest Emotion (seriously options are only one or two anyway) for that. Flash it, and then follow Senthil's guide for better backup, changing values in Kernel Adiutor and all. No offence, but I have NOT found a single custom ROM which is "complete", so I am using simply stock Odexed ROM, with the crap apps removed with Titanium.

I am using the Australian 5.1.1 ROM, for N910G. Completely stock Odexed ROM.

[DISCUSSION] S6 Custom ROMs scene - which do you prefer and why?

So, let me start - basically since I bought my G920F I have used XtreStoLite (now combined with arter97 kernel) since I had both Nexus 4 and 5 so I'm kinda used to lightweight and responsive UX. Straight out of the box, the S6 felt like a disaster.
I prefer XtreStoLite as well with minimal samsung apps installed.
Back to not3... Best rom yet..... It is 5.1.1 but has better battery than any 6.0.1 rom I tried.
I am in xtestolite 3.2 version because of the outdoor brightness problem in 3.3.1 and I m using the 3.3.1 aroma. I m using stock XtreStoLite kernel its the best one. Best battery -performance - low temperatures for XtreStoLite. For launcher I m using the Google now one and for android N like notifications i m using the N-ify from xposed (take care disable status bar header from N-ify)
Always used xtrestolite + arter kernel, but since rom it's discontinued I'm now using CaS rom + arter kernel.
Rom is odex, debloated, very fluid and combined with some grace apps (odexed with lucky patcher in a second time) is perfect.

Is CaS exactly as fast and light as XtreSto? I might give it a try then.

Maybe not exactly the same, but with HEBF (from play store) and some build prop tweaks is perfect for me; when I switched from xtrestolite to CaS I felt like having the same rom :good:
probably Omega Rom will be the best rom

Yeah I know the ROM, but why do you consider it to be the best out there?
I'm also looking for stable, clean ROM with good battery and without bugs, but I don't know which one to choose.

looking for mods - roms d802

Hi, I have G2 pretty stockish now. Wanted to try some customs for better performance, battery, smoothness etc.
Can you help me choose something?
I prefer stockish look, LG or pure android so without fireworks. I would like to have good battery life (now it is ok but going worse with time) and stable rom/kernel. There are so many options so hard to choose something.
What do you suggest? I do not need newest android so any from 5.0.2 is fine.

I have a debloated CloudyRom with Dorimanx kernel. Also I have Xposed to run Gravitybox etc and I flashed Xcam-Mod to get UHD- and Slomo-Vids.
CloudyRom has some nice features itself and Dorimanx kernel gives you control about everything. Increase cpu speed 2,8 GHz, boost the sound of every speaker and headphone, a "speed charge"-mode, and many more.
I think the 5.0.2 stock roms are enough atm. Most stock-based-roms have features from G3 and G4. There are some nice features in MM and N, but none of the roms has the same drivers as the stock-roms. For example: If you flash Cyanogen based MM you'll get lower photo quality.

Thanks for answer! So I see that you can prolong a battery life with CloudyRom plus Dorimanx kernel?
Yes that what I was afraid flashing non stock rom that photo quality will be worse, so I will stick with stock roms for now and also I do not need those features from MM and N. Only doze would be nice but it is ok It is my girlfriend phone, i have new OP3t myself with N
PS. Are you using this rom? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3136529
EDIT: now I see that you can have G3 cloudy on G2, did you try it? Is it any better than CloudyG2?
