Hi All,
Does anyone know where the info originally entered is stored? I'm pretty sure I had a type in the name and thought I could change it afterwards but I can't find it anywhere. The Owner Info under Lockscreen is blank.
TIA

Thanks but, as I said, the Info there is blank. Is what I entered not stored anywhere else?
Oh sorry, I didn't read carefully.
I don't know where it is stored. It's weird that your device does not show it on the lock screen.
0. Make sure the checkbox "Show owner info on lock screen" is checked.
1. When you go to Settings > Device tab > Lock screen > Owner information, did you see the information is still there?
2. If Yes, there might be a problem with the launcher or lockscreen you are using
3. If No, there might be a problem with the firmware/rom you are using
BTW, what firmware and what launcher/lockscreen are you using? Stock one or custom/3rd party?

I'm still on MI6, XSA (australian) unrooted. The Owner Info is empty and the box was originally ticked. When I enter something it does show on the lock screen. But what I originally entered during setup appears to be gone unless it's stored somewhere else.

What you entered during phone setup has no bearing on owner info.... It doesn't display this... Owner info must be put in manually later.
The personal details you entered in the initial setup only bear relevance to the ownership name used in apps. (Which it very clearly said on the setup screen where you entered it..)
Ownership details for the lockscreen are not related to that. You could enter 'Owned by Fluffypuf the orange dotted easterbunny with the big pink ears" in there for all the phone cares.
Found the answer..... the phone creates a ME contact with the details entered.

For pattern lock: Settings > Location & Security > Security Lock
From there you can do a passcode or the pattern. I personally use pattern because it can replace the slide to unlock all together while keeping it secure.
I got the pattern lock....but what about adding a note or your personal contact information, thats whats missing...thanks
If there is a way, I haven't found it. I know you can do it on rooted devices, depending on how the rom is set up, but as far as the droid x, I haven't seen a way to do it. You can download an app from the market that will call your phone if you lose it. Also there are apps that will find your phone on GPS. I know this isn't really what your wanting to do, but it will help you if it gets lost.
after many hours on the net I found the answer. you get this by installing the antivirus program from the apps market. you change the "this phone belongs to:" by going to the antivirus program and pressing the menu button form there go to settings, then remote management and finely lost message. you can change the whole message

That's just specific to that app. There is no way on the stock rom to set this information you are looking for. Just add a contact called Me to your contact list. That way if you lose the phone, somebody may call you (If they don't keep the phone)

Too much work for something too small I think.
One way is to update your wallpaper image to have the text you want (using your favorite image editor). Of course then it'll show on the normal home/launcher as well. But a short "Belongs to John Doe, (555) 555-5555" towards the bottom-center should work.
just found WidgetLocker Lockscreen. I havent tried it yet but I guess you can put widgets on the lock screens so I can put a note there with all this information...worth a try
Hey all,
I tried to set up my lock screen, and when I go into settings, I can configure a PIN or password, but I can't enable it. It is set to "off" and when I tap it, it dumps me back to the main settings screen.
I have done more flashing than a Republican Congressman, but nothing seems to work. I'm also good with going back to stock (I think I tried that), but I have to have a lock screen for work.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue... Glad that I'm not the only one with this issue..
Did you find any solution yet?
I did not post this in development forum... Have posted under general forum...
Settings > Location & security > Tap on PIN or Password to set the lock method.
That's all you need to do, it will automatically enable the protection for you.
To disable the PIN or Password protection, select the Off or Not secured option.
Using Off will display directly the main screen, while Not secured will display the swipe circle.
Have already tried all that... didn't work... I set the pin and still says it is off.. Turned my screen off and lock screen doesn't appear when I turn it back up...
Don't know what is going on..
Are you using a vanilla 3.1 ROM or creepy TouchWiz?
Settings > Location & security > Configure Lock Screen > PIN
Enter PIN > Continue > Confirm PIN > OK > Tap Home > Press Power button
I don't think so... It is a factory stock 3.1 ROM.. I didn't change anything... I have the rooted Droid 1, never had this prob with my phone.. Don't understand what is going on... Have tried the typical steps but screen lock not enabling...
Only thing is that, mine came from Europe as a gift... Maybe this was how it got set up over there? But don't know...
I have a brazilian one with the sam problem. I think it's a bug.

I had the same problem. Go to the security page and chose which method youwant to use, pin, parties or pattern. Once you enter it don't click anything else in that screen. Click the back button and it will be saved.
Screen Lock Activated
Thanks for the help peeps. Got my screen locked by doing as Meth819 mentioned.
guys,
how to make visible owner info (in notofication panel) on my nexus 4?
i didn't make an entry when i first power up the fon, and i dont know how to correct that mistake.
thanks
Settings > Security > Owner info
It's only shown on the lock screen, not on the notification panel.
Or do you mean the top left picture in the quick settings? In which case you can set your photo etc. in the People app under "Me"

the other one.
i did it.
thanks man!!!
I truly love my S4 but this is driving me insane.
When receiving a message instead of telling me who it's from and an idea of what the message is... I get this:
Edit: Apparently I can't post an image of the issue until after 10 posts. In any case, my notification, both on the lock screen and on the notification bar, say Messaging, and underneath says New Message. Normally, or at least with my S3, it would show who the text message is from, and then a small preview of what the message says.
Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? I am trying to stay away from rooting my phone, for now. I am using Nova Launcher Prime but I don't see why this would effect anything. A reboot has done nothing so far.
In message app enter menu and after, settings thhan tick the last option before signature, in italian "anteprima messaggio"

Thanks. For some reason I didn't think to go into the settings of the actual messaging screen. I was able to put a check mark beside "Preview Message" and that has solved my issue. Thanks Again!

I guess Samsung left it off to keep the privacy of unexperienced users on Android that have no idea how to change settings by themselves.

I'm almost definitely sure mine was on by default as I turned it off. It showed the message on the lock screen too.
I'm frustrated!
I want to edit the order of my "Quick Settings" in the Notification bar, but there is no icon (the pencil icon on the right side up) where it should be!
Also, when I press the "Options" button (the three squares) in the Settings page, most option are missing!
The only one that appears is 'List view' (to a total of 2 views - 'Grid view' and 'List view'), whereas the third view, the 'Edit quick settings' and the 'Help' options are missing!
I've got pictures to prove my point and help you see my problem but, unfortuately I can't post them here.
What is wrong? Is it because of the edition of the phone?

Depending on the device model and also the firmware version, there are some variation of the Settings menu. So I cannot realize what is your Settings menu structure.
You can open the S Finder and enter 'notification panel' to search.

Same thing happens. I sadly think it is because of the firmware, as you say, and there is nothing I can do about it.
Thanks for your reply, though!

What does that mean? Did you find this menu using S Finder?
If you cannot find this settings, here is another way:
Install Shortcut Master app, open Menu > Search > enter 'notificationpanelsetting' to search. Finally tap on the search result to open this settings.

Yes and, again, the notification panel had no pencil on the uppermost right corner. :/

I had high hopes for this (on my search on the Net, I found no solution like this) but, alas, the search came back with 0 results. Searched both 'notificationpanelsetting' and 'notificationpanelsettings', and 0 results for 'notificationpanel' as well!
edit:
Oooh! That's why I thought I recognised the name of the app creator - it was you! Nice job, btw!
Sorry, I have searched on my Note 3, not S5.
However the function may be missing because of different firmwares.
You can bypass this problem by flashing another firmware.
