Hey,I am habitual of using this function "power button ends call", and it is working properly in my phone,
on stock 4.4.2 (d802)
Well, not with mine...
So let me give my rundown with the power button end call issue. So I downloaded kitkat via the cable method a couple of days before the ota arrived from verizon. I noticed immediately whether checked or not the power button would end my call. I did a factory reset and still the same issue. Going above and beyond I used the LG flash tool and the 11a tot file to go back to Jellybean. I took the 12b ota and then the 4.4.2 ota. After doing all this my power button still ends every call. I am at the end of my rope. My son has the same phone and no issue. I believe it may have to be hardware related at this point. I put in a trouble ticket with LG customer support due to Verizon not having a clue on May 6, still have not heard from LG.

On the Verizon variant mine is in the call settings and accessibility, both are unchecked and it still ends a call. Very frustrating when you are on speaker phone and want to turn off the display and you hang up on someone.

Seriously???
you think there is a different between" call settings " and" "Accessibility"?!
Any way I tried both and there is no change.
It's not hardware related. It worked as intended on jellybean. I can't remember if the bug started on 80220b or 80220d. I'm on a 80220d based custom rom now where the problem persists. The issue is definitely a screw up by lg. I'm quite positive that an aosp rom wouldn't have the issue but I'm not bothered enough to flash an aosp rom.

Hi everyone.
My Legend has a very odd problem. Sometimes, when I receive a call, the phone rings normally (loud) for a few seconds and then it becomes a lot softer. Sounds a little muffled. Doesnt happen all the time though...
The 'quiet ring on pickup' option is already disabled btw.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it a software bug?
Thanks.
yes!! me too!
I have the same problem with my legend.
when you let the telephone ring, after a couple of rings, the volume drops "dramatically"...
Try turning off quet ring on pickup.

Yes, the option is turned off.
Anyone else apart from viskas and me have the problem?
Hope it's a known issue and will be fixed with the next update...
ok i am not the only one here and havent found a fix yet even i have reset to factory default, it stays....
Hi,
I also have the same issue with my Legend!
It is very annoying and it pisses me off!
Once or twice it worked normally and after that it is here again.
I have looked in other forums but could not find a solution yet.
HTC support is not helping much and give solutions that does not work 9 for instance - change of ringtone, etc..)

I had this issue, when i first got the phone.
Then i read somewhere that task killers/managers, could be the cause of this, unless you put the ringtone service (whatever it's called) on the ignore list in the task killer app.
I reset the phone and didn't install a task killer/manager.
Have not had a problem with ringtones since.
Maybe i'm just lucky.
I used to use Task Killer for a while but already uninstalled it before I factory reset my phone. Didn't make a difference for me. Still have the ring problem.

We wait...
I go an answer from HTC support. Here it is...
Dear Mr.PARTENOV
Thank you for contacting HTC.
So is it with all calls?
Are you using built in ring tones?
Can you enable the option of 'quiet ring on pickup' and test the phone then disable it once again?

hi partenov, as far as i could remember... i did try it before, but that is before i hard-reset the device and i always used the built in ringtones... oh HTC what went wrong... luckily it didnt happen during video or music play
Hi, I'm from Russia. I and a few man have the same problem. Nothing helps. We must tell HTC about this issue, that they have released update.
Sorry for my english.
So the next step is to hard reset my phone as HTC support suggest!...
I have done that and did not help at all.
Here is their answer:
Hello Mr.PARTENOV
Thank you for your quick response.
The only option that is left now is to Hard Reset the phone
Resetting your phone will erase your phone completely. Remember to back up your phone information and settings.
Please press MENU on the Home screen, then tap Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone. You can also perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone.
1. With the phone turned off, long press the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
4. When asked to confirm, press VOLUME UP. NOTE: Resetting your handset to factory or manufacturer's default setting will delete all the data stored on your phone memory, please back up your files first.
This feature is not a default option in Android, however you may go to the Android Market to find related applications. To open the market, please press All programs on the Home screen > Market > tap search icon to type key words.
NOTE 1: An internet connection (Wi-Fi, GPRS/3G, etc.) is required to access this service. Your operator may charge for using GPRS/3G. Paid applications are available in specified territories only.
NOTE 2: All programs is the triangle icon in the lower left corner of the home screen that opens the phone's application menu
Or you can use HTC sync.
Thank you so much for using HTC products.
Respect & Regards,
HTC TEAM

Best Regards,
Ok I have nailed the problem and I have found the fix for my case....
I have done the hard reset as suggested by HTC!
Then started to set my personal settings. In the mean time I was testing after each setting....and I found the "bad" one.
Settings-> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode
GSM Only - bad ringtone sound
WCDMA only - normal, loud, crystal sound - EVERY TIME it rings
In my area I get many changes between 3G and GPRS so I decided to switch it only to GSM and after that I got the "bad" ringtone issue..
Right now I made my experiment 4 times and in all cases I got repetability. SO fo me this is the solution in this case!
I am glad if this info could help !
Best Regards,
Is it confirm? I'll try this"workaround".

I have tried this exercise 4 times and every time I got the same!
I am not sure if it is related somehow to the Network operator service quality.

I'm curious what the save to existing and "2" options are for.. any ideas?

LOL, it's a rom that you've installed that made those come up, i'm wagering...
i think he got rid of the mobile network in that ROM, which explains the '2'. probably something similar going on with 'save to existing' (something pointing to mismatched address somewhere)
makes sense. thanks for the input

The issue is caused if you flashed the Vanilla Lock Screen. Fresh states the issue on his site.
http://geekfor.me/evo/21/vanilla-lock-fix-for-evo/
Under the first paragraph.
well, i was following a thread about it, but i guess it was deleted cause it was in wrong area...
if a fix was found please tell me! =oP
it seems to be a commom issue: when i try to turn off the phone, it just turn on again...
what i've done until now: i was running cm7 and i believed it was a rom related issue, but i'm back to uk stock (1.32.405.6) and keep it with no root (just ship s-off that remains after flash ruu), and the problem remains, just take a little longer to turn on again... BUT, when i plug it into pc by usb cable it stays off, when i unplug it turns on again...
i'm tending to believe that's a hardware issue, maybe a short in phone plug, but in this case, it is the most commom issue that i've saw...
any idea is welcome
thanks...
Edit:
Okay Folks, looks like the "fix" was found. I made a little summary for the next generation! =oP
this weird issue happened due summer time changes (don't ask why), but after March 27 the phone simply didn't stay off, if you tried, it just turned on again.
The "fix" is:
- disable automatic hour update (just in case)
- remove battery and let it out for around 10 hours, then put it back and turn on!
- Hour and date may reset (or not)
- now you can reactivate automatic hour update if you want.
- the device just stays off properly again
credits for
XL3N7 that found the problem,
Rodomar705 that found how to fix in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014520
And everyone else that probally lost every data (like me) so many times trying find out how to solve it. =oP
I really dont understand why the admins deleted and not removed the thread from the development section.
What really happens: I have my dhd with cm7 around two months now and i always flashed the nightlies.I know the issue, when the phone is powered off and plug a charger reboots in cwm recovery. I never had problem just to "power off" my phone and actually did that every night before going to bed (so i know that the "power off" used to work ok) .Two days ago i flashed RC3 , power off worked ok, then nightly 32 and next morning i had the issue. When i select to "power off", without any charger or usb connected , phone just reboots.Just to remind you that if the phone is powered off and you connect it to charger then the phone goes to cwm recovery! So i tried various combinations :
1. Back to stock 1.32 (both with img file and exe file). After that flashed 3.0.0.5 and the newer version of cwm
Phone powered off correcty and the vol down+power goes to hboot. After flashing cm7 problem appears again.
2. Also had a backup and load it (nightly from 16/02/11) but still the same problem.
Please devs tell me what kind of files you need in order to help me solving the issue.
Also i see posts from guys using other custom roms and having the same problem, so i dont really understand why the admins deleted last night the thread started in development section.
You guys using customs rom just check if your power off works and if you have problem write it here and hope not to be deleted.
@thiagodark I think you have to change a little bit thread's title
same problem!!....i think is a bug of CWM...or there is a conflict between recovery and "idontknow"!!....
this situation is funny ... we are afraid to brick and our DHD doesn't want to turn off...
well, i think my problem is a little different, cause i get this problem even after flash official ruu, i'm all stock right now and the phone keeps reboot when i try to power off. when i select "power off" with micro usb cable connected, it works okay, but when i disconnect, it power on again.
Also, sometimes when i try to power off with or without the micro usb connected, it just dies and the only way i can power on it again is by removing the battery.
suggest me a tittle and i change, as you can see, my engrish is not something i can proud myself! =oP

Ok, I think I have found the problem.
Go to settings --> Date & Time, untick the option to use network values and set the date somewhere before the 27th of March when the daylight changes took place. Reboot and power off. The phone should stay off (at least it did for me). Now power on, go to date & time settings and tick the option to use network times. Power off and it will probably come back on.

No its not a bug of 3.0.2.4 r1(i had 3.0.0.5 when problem appears). As i wrote everything worked perfect (cm7+cwm 3.0.0.5) till one morning (was on cm7 nightly 32+cwm 3.0.05) want to boot in bootloader, so i select to power off. After that never powered off. What makes me nervous is that i didnt install any appl or changed the cwm recovery version.Nothing like that.I always powered off my phone so i know that there is not cm7 nightly related.
So the big question is what changed in a few minutes?

I have no idea m8. I've just put 2 & 2 together. The issue first appeared shortly after the time change. Maybe a bug in htc's code? Surely not a cm thing. I have tried fastboot erase system -w and the problem was still there. I have also tried different radios, cwm versions and the issue is still there. Probably HTC. Hopefully one of the greater minds of this forum can pin point the issue.
Perfectly good work around
Hi, If you want to, you can untick the setting in Date & Time and install Clocksync from the Market. Using this app you can sync your phone's time at whatever schedule you like to the atomic clock (it is much more accurate than HTC's provider).
This will enable you to shut down correctly and have accurate time displayed on your device.
You need root though.

So,it is a bug of HTC ?in other words,Even if we do nothing,It still will happen sooner or later?
I just found out that the power button hangs up during phone calls both with headset plugged in and without.
It's disabled in accessibility settings - I tried enabling it but doesn't change anything. I have also tried rebooting.
I don't know when this behavior started so I can't quite pinpoint the culprit.
I'm rooted, TWRP recovery (AutoRec), stock rom D802 20d with custom kernel (latest dorimanx kernel).
I think it might be the kernel but I'm not sure.
Your help will be greatly appreciated
Go to phone app then setting and there should be an option to end call with power button, another way to enable it is by getting your screen cracked and the phone somehow knows it's broken and ask if you would like to enable the feature (it happened to me when my phone fell and screen got damged)

Thanks again for your help. Alas, that setting is also disabled. I tried both enabling it and then disabling it again. Neither were successful.
Do you know if a kernel can cause this? Or might it be the rom? I'm considering trying cloudy, but from what I've read I won't receive updates to Google Apps through Google play. That sounds annoying :-/
For some reason my screen won't shut off when I press the power button or by itself after any amount of time. I made sure all of the settings were set right that might keep it on. I know it's not hardware damage because I've pretty much never dropped it or handled it hard. The power button still works because it will get the turn off, restart, etc screen to go. Any idea how to fix it? I already did a factory reset.

Download wakelock detector and see which app is keeping your screen on.
Dialed that number, the dimming worked, but the sleep button didn't do anything. I'll try that app out and see what it says.
In my understanding *#0*# dialing is for hardware check, if sleep is not working from there means it has nothing to do with any app & better to take to service centre.

Mine does this every time I reboot my phone. I have to press and hold the home key, pick the pie chart, pick RAM and pick "Clear Memory". Then it's fine til the next time I reboot.
I had my note 3 with the same problem and solved it recovering the original system/media/bootsamsung*.qmg files.
to solve the problem plug the charger and unplug it immediately and plug it back in again. This is also the reason why the problem is caused. So doing it again will solve the problem.
