[Q] Please help. Multitude of issues. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK. So, I recently installed the KK 4.4.2 update on a stock rom. One of the things I've found (so far) that I hate the most about it is the stupid Goggle Now swipe up gesture. I use Auto Hide Soft Keys. With this new feature, I can't use it anymore. I have searched and searched, tried and tried to find the right solution. What I did last night was, I installed the xposed framework and the G2 Tweaks app. Played around with it for a bit. Made a few changes, not many. After reboot, I started getting popups that my LG keyboard stopped unexpectantly. I was unable to use it all. Using Titanium Backup, I froze the xposed framework app, the G2 Tweaks app and the LG keyboard (after it still wouldn't work for me). Had to go and download the swiftkey keyboard (which I hate) as a temporary workaround. So what I need to know is, 1: How do I fix my stock keyboard so that it won't force close? 2: What is the best option to completely eliminate that stupid Google Now BS? 3: Another issue I have discovered is that every time I turn my data off (which is all the time), I get a pesky voicemail notification that my data service is N/A and can't sync visual voicemail. How do I stop this? Is there a way without completely disableing my voicemail app? Please help! Thanks.

hi
you should have a "xposed disabler.zip" on your sd card. ..flash it and wipe caches
i use LMT launcher

go in option and activate it in first ...
with
LG pie support xposed module

Do you by chance have Xposed framework with a multiwindow module? Try disabling the module.
I do not. All I have done is root the phone. The program was working after rooting was done however after a reboot maybe a couple hours later it started the force close.

Not sure then. Only time I've seen issues is when multiwindow Xposed hack was used.
You haven't frozen any apps/bloat in TiBu have you?
I'm rooted and mine works just fine. I use it everyday.
Started Over
I finally just used Odin and all is good:good:. Thanks everybody for trying to help.
I am having the same issue. I have Xposed installed with the Xposed Wallet hack, but not the multi- window hack. I used "Multi Window Manager" from the play store to manage my MW, so I uninstalled that to see if that was causing the problem. No luck.
Running Nottach's P-Rom, Xposed framework, Xposed Wallet Hack, the CASUAL Root-Recovery.
i have rooted, debloated, done Xposed multi window hack (not enabled) and TiBU frozen apps; S Health crashes every time. so i froze it; didnt use/need/want it before.
oddly it reminded me of the 'health' functions on a watchphone i had from 2008; it had a period/ovulation calculator. wtf.

I edited my build.prop following these instructions I found online, everything now works wonderfully!
Make sure the Xposed isn’t installed.
We need to change build.prop file inside the system partition, you can also get it done manually by using a file manager app or get a build prop editor on play store.
Once you find the build.prop file, look for the “ro.securestorage.support=true” line.
Now change the line to “ro.securestorage.support=false”.
Install the Xposed framework again.
The final step is wiping S Health app data, head to System -> App Manager -> ALL -> S Health then wipes the data. Now your Galaxy S5 should be able to runs Xposed framework and S Health simultaneously without any problems.

[Q] How to reset Xposed module settings?

I have D801 running CloudyG3 (fantastic ROM by the way, albeit it has some bugs right now). My question is the following: I have several Xposed modules installed (G2 Exposed, G2 TweaksBox, XHaloFloatingWindow...).
Say that I want to enable the XHalo one. I do all that good stuff, configure it, and it works. It also says that on non-AOSP ROMs it may cause SystemUI force closes. This happens. I thought - okay, I'll just deactivate the module. However, even when it's deactivated, this still happens (system Ui closes). Even reinstalling the module and turning the settings off within it does not help.
Or, G2 exposed changes my navbar button layout. I thought - well, I don't really like this. I do the same thing - delete the module, doesn't work. Reset the settings within the module, doesn't work.
How does one properly "restore to factory" when it comes to various Xposed modules?
Thanks!

[Q] S Heatlth App malfunctioning after Rooting & Bloatware elimination

Long story short: Coming close to insanity from all notifications (but not wanting to miss e-mail and sms/whatsapp, I rooted my G900FXXU1ANG2 in order to use NotifyClean.
I, hence, also installed the Xposed framework. Subsequently, installed NoBloat and backed up and deleted a number of System apps.
Much to my demise, however, one of my favorite apps, S Health now malfunctions popping an "Unfortunately, S HealthService has stopped".
I have restored just about everything I have had backed up and deleted except for fonts, weather stuff and print services.
Still can't get the app back to it's original state. The best I have managed to achieve is to have the app run but unable to save my (profile) data (which renders the app rather useless).
I have also tried setting the app back to its original state (uninstall updates + force stop) and updating it again from Samsung.
Alas, no dice.
Can anyone help?

It's due to an incompatibility with Xposed framework. Search xda forum and you will find the work around solution (don't remember where I read it). But there is a solution!

[Q] Significant Lag After Root

I rooted using the CF Auto method or whatever it was last week to try playing Hearthstone on my Note 4, however now my phone gets significant lag issues (screen locks up for 3-4 seconds every 5 minutes or so) and even stuttering while playing music over Spotify. Any ideas?
I uninstalled Xposed and the App Settings module to see if that would fix it, but it hasn't.

hi,
i had similar and other experiences with Xposed and lag issue. (in past month) I have found that Xposed can break certain apps (when installing etc.. Shealth.. Play store, Samsung store, Private mode, and cause lag.
You must take into account that Xposed was last updated even before Note 4 was released.(?) So to me its not fully optimised? for Note 4?
However, I also found that Xposed broke certain apps.. even after i uninstalled it! eg.. My Play store was working fine with Xposed (Patched./fixes applied) and after i uninstalled Xposed i suddenly couldn't install apps from Play store! I was so fed trying to "fix" Play store etc... i just flashed my latest Official Rom over it..(All problems fixed!) So it could be Xposed that was original cause of your lag?.. even if you have uninstalled it? I have also found after uninstalling Xposed, some other module's functions are still present and i can still use it!
Just a pointer, maybe it helps?
good luck
Search the forum. It is S-Health, that causes lags, because it uses Secure Storage, which is not working with root. But there is a good news! There is already fix for it in custom kernels and XPosed Framework (search for SHealth in modules). You can use either.

I tried searching a bit, but wasn't finding any results for what little I knew. Sorry about that. Thanks a bunch for the help. Will simply disabling S Health solve the issues since I don't use it anyways?
Edit: Just realized you mentioned a solution also within the Xposed framework, I'll try that! Sorry, I'm pretty tired haha

hi ,
yes, i think @Zer0r means the XsecureStorage module ( Wanam )
http://repo.xposed.info/module/ma.wanam.xshealth
Just to point out that maybe you overlooked an important fact and that is you still have the lag issue after ........uninstalling Xposed ?
thus Xposed must have "broken" something ? in process ? for you to have lag after uninstalling Xposed ?
to fix you now have to install Xposed again.(thus a temporally fix ????)
When i had Xposed installed and used XsecureStorage module it fixed my Shealthapp ( i had no lag ,so it was not an issue to me ) but it did not fix my Private mode .(So to me its a hit and miss )
Good luck
You can either install the secure storage xposed mod or edit your buildprop and change secure storage to false

hi,
thank you for your input, but i do know all relevant fixes.. (including your one.) Done them in past. Bottom line
I am not to interested if Private mode works or not..!
The point i am trying to bring across is that Xposed is not 100% optimised
for Note 4 and keeps on breaking various apps!
I have Xposed installed on my Note 3./.Note 2../ Note 8.0 (tab) and my HTC one X, no problems at all on any of these devices! My Note 4 i had Xposed installed on and off, since October this year.. so i do know Xposed very, very well! and relevant patches.
Bottom line is
if the dev. manages to optimise Xposed for lollipop (ART) i will install Xposed again! So i do fancy/like Xposed but is not so hardup to use it, (if it breaks so many apps and you have to patch it.)
This is my message i am try to bring across. with Xposed.. but then its your choice to install or not.?
thanks for your input and good luck
Lesson here is don't use xposed unless u do 5 minutes of reading first on how to use it with this phone. Been using it correctly since launch day, why...... cause I didn't just install it, I read what was suppose to be done before and after it is installed. Sorry just really sick of seeing the countless posts about this. There should be a sticky about xposed, but people would still fail to see it.
Before you even install xposed you should:
1. With titanium backup, freeze health service, private mode, and s health. Wipe data for those apps as well.
2. Edit build prop:
ro.build.selinux to 0 if you have a permissive kernel or want to flash one.
ro.config.knox to 0
ro.config.tima to 0
ro.securestorage.support to false
3. Reboot
4.install xposed, install framework, reboot.
5. Install Wanam 3.2.5,( do Not install newest 3.2.6 as there is something wrong with it, causes reboots while hanging at the startup system update process), go into security hacks and tick disable secure storage, and reboot.
6. In titanium backup, unfreeze health service, private mode, and s health.
7. Reboot and enjoy
I've even done this with skipping some of the reboots and been fine, but just to make sure you have no problems, do everything as written. And yes I know I edit other things in the build prop which is really overkill.

So u uninstalled xposed and are not installing it again because u don't want to do a lil bit of work after a fresh install, despite all the pluses it brings? I find it so useful that I probably won't upgrade to 5.0 until xposed is compatible unless xposed will never be compatible.

hi
thanks for you input ,
No ,i think maybe you "misinterpret" my last post ?( I did read up and follow correct Guidelines availeable .)
I stated that i know Xposed quite well and have installed Xposed all my other devices ..no problem etc .
On my Note 4 I have installed Xposed "on and off " since October (maybe 3 or 4 times ? i don't really know .)
Overall Xposed work well, no problems ,its just "sooner or later" an app would break !
eg . after using Xposed for a while( week or so )my Play store " broke"..could'nt install and have to apply fixes /patches all over again ( freeze S health / Install Xposed again /clear Shealth data etc etc )
other instant was using Xposed for a while my 'Samsung store " app broke .......!
Had to apply fixes/patches all over again ....!
I had my Private mode working in most of these cases ,but lost interest in hiding apps ..for what ?
I don't keep no "sensitive " stuff etc. on my device ,so don't really have any need for it .
As i am looking more forward to flash "Lollipop" onto my device ,i am not so "interested "
to keep Xposed on my Note 4 .( for every now and then ,for something to break and then apply fixes , after a while that was my experiences .)
Also i believe Xposed is not fully "optimised " for our Note 4 ..as i stated(/reason) , in my previous post above.
So if you chose to have Xposed on your device ,happy with it ,its your choice . (,i have no problem with that )
( i am also overall a " fan/supporter " of Xposed )
its just that my Note 4 is tweaked / running ... very smooth and i have no complaints/issues about... ..battery /lag or anything in paticular .
Good luck

Really Useful Xposed Modules, mod and apps to get the most out of rooted fire TVs

Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out which xposed modules, mods and apps are the most useful ones for the rooted fire TVs and compile a list.
What I can recommend so far:
"Xposed Additions Pro"
to customize the keys of the remote control (longpress, double press, triple press shortcuts)
Adaway
No more annoying ads in youtube, twitch and other apps
Mozilla Firefox + Adblock Plus + Adobe Flash Player
Web-Browsing on Fire TV (only good with Mouse + Keyboard)
MarketHelper
spoof what device the firetv is to actually download apps through play store (usually says that apps are not compatible on 90% of the apps, to me)
AudioGlow
Nice AudioVisualizer of whatever audio is playing in the background (tuneinradio, mp3-player, kodi.. etc) - unfortunately a bit laggy or rather not on point with the audio.
Holo Themer (Xposed Module)
Open apps that do not seem to open on the FireTV (like SuperSu) - set the theme to "Material Dark" and they will open.
WARNING: Can cause bootloops. Use Version 3.0 as well.

Havent tried it myself yet but since Xposed App Settings keeps closing when you actually try to edit app settings (like to change DPI) I did some research and apparently you can get the dpi changing behaviour with tasker. Have it run a shell command "am set-density xxx" when an app starts and closes iirc. I would like to change the dpi setting of firefox for example... used to do it on my phone with xposed app settings but that damn thing wont work on fire tv.
Some other "activities" like this also keep closing - maybe we can together find out whats the cause and fix it. For example there is "supersu" which cant be opened - at least in the latest versions.. ive read that 1.x does work. And titanium Backup wont do batch commands and/or let you edit its settings.. really lame =/
FireTVs android is gimped down somewhat unfortunately..
ADD: also no recent apps overview available =( .. tried to set it up with xposed additions but wouldnt do anything .. but switching between the 2 recent apps does actually work. Put that on long-press menu button + long press play starts youtube.
---
Also (this needs more testing) there is a system app called com.amazon.videoads.xxx or something. Disabling that seems to disable the annoying prime ads which is played before stuff when you watch amazon prime. (WTF you put ads up anyway for prime for those that already have prime?! i dont get that..so annoying - yea i hate ads because i'm immune to them anyway)
argh idk how about you but trying out xposed modules to see if they work on the fire tv is really annoying - my damn thing keeps goin into bootloops quite often. Most of the times clearing dalvik cache helps but sometimes ill have to disable xposed, boot, uninstall xposed installer, install xposed in recovery, reboot, install xposed installer, disable all xposed modules.. reboot one more time and then reenable the xposed modules. Need to figure out a better way for this.
ADD: I installed supersu as user app (first removed the supersu system app off course) but it still cant be opened. So its not a "system app" problem. Older versions do seem to open, but they want you to "update" the supersu binary, which I didnt want to try yet hehe.
ADD2: Any idea how to disable the notification of supersu and make the delay longer? When i try to edit the supersu.cfg (in /data/data/) it just overwrites itself after saving.. ?!
ADD3: Figured out how to "edit" the supersu.cfg ... copy it to /data/local/tmp and edit it there, then go to recovery and overwrite the original with the modified version with the file manager (those supersu notifications lag out often so I prefer to have em disabled..)

have you also tried stickmount from chainfire? Wondering which one is better.
Another recommendation (regarding the DPI):
Tasker (+App Factory)
I created two apps with the tasker app factory for my fire TV to change the DPI when they are opened.
The shell command to use is actually "wm density xxx" where xxx is the dpi u want.
What I did is create one with 240 dpi and one with 320 dpi (default) and set them to long press back/forward buttons. This way I can change between 240 and 320 dpi with those buttons.
What you can also do is to set up tasker contexts for certain apps to change the DPI on launch. For Firefox for example 240 dpi is muuuch better and FireStarter also is cooler with 240 dpi (maybe even less.. it will downsize the fonts which you cant do with the FireStarter settings).
With a more complex script you could probably just increase/decrease dpi in steps. (if you run "wm density" without a dpi, it will return the physical dpi and if its changed the overwritten dpi.. when you parse that number one could just add/substract to make an universal dpi increaser/decreaser)
---
Gonna play around with supersu versions now and then tell you which is the latest that runs.
ADD: Seems like 2.02 or 2.12 (beta) is the latetest supersu that opens - but unfortunately the su binary is not compatible it seems. When I got myself the accoring zip and flashed it through twrp the app would open but say that there is no su binary ... *grmpf*
figured out a way to start supersu and also xposed app settings! but apparently nobody is interested.. ill tell ya by pm if you want i guess..
but goddammit this damn fire tv bootloops again just after applying some app setzings... dalvik cache gets fked up so easy..
stickmount is also able to mount exfat - but automounting is a bit messed up it seems.
Xposed Additions also breaks the voice search it seems. (or some other module)
But maybe this can be fine tuned somehow..
A bit disappointed that nobody except us 2 actually joins in - but this is how xda is nowadays i guess..
Anyway: To actually open supersu and xposed app settings you will have to install "Holo Themer" Xposed module and activate "material design" for the app that you want to use.
It seems that the apps / activities that dont work are using some ui elements that are not available on the fire tv - but with holo themer it works.
Be aware though: My fire tv didnt boot through anymore after restart - which seems to be related to holo themer .. which i dont really understand yet.
i wish i could just use dalvik .. i bet these bootloops / hangs are all caused by that fkin art runtime. On my phone I still use jellybean on purpose lol.. much more modding freedom compared to this newer android versions.. garh
Getting some really strange behaviors:
Activate some xposed modules, reboot, everything works. Then without actually changing any settings in the modules or smth I reboot one more time, and fire tv stuck at boot logo.
WTF is that?! Not really deterministic to me.. =/..... it should either work or not work.
Sometimes clearing the "dalvik" cache helps to get it to boot again.. but then after another reboot its back to beeing stuck at boot logo. I wish I would understand wtf is causing this. The modules which do seem to cause those loops actually do work also.. at least until you reboot lol.. (like that holo themer example from above..)
I read now that the holo themer has problems with lollipop. Its weird it actually works - you activate the module, reboot and it works.. then you reboot again and you are stuck in bootloop.
Im currently trying to figure out how to prevent the bootloops and still use it. I guess you just temporarily activate it to edit settings of an app like supersu. then uninstall it afterwards. If you need it again you just install it again. If youre stuck in bootloop the easiest way to get into the system again is to delete the modules.list file in the /data/data/xxx/conf folder of the xposed installer. Then it will boot without any modules active one time. Sometimes a clear of dalvik cache is also necessary to fix bootloops caused by xposed modules.
Regarding the Holo Themer Bootloop:
In order to temporarily use holo themer to change settings of apps that crash/close otherwise here is what I figured out:
1. Install Holo Themer and turn it on in xposed installer (but DONT launch it yet!)
2. Reboot device so that the xposed module is active and then launch holo themer.
3. Edit the Theme of the apps that normally dont work to "Material Dark"
4. Open those apps and do your stuff.
5. Deinstall Holo Themer.
6. Reboot.
Unfortunately you cannot make apps like supersu permanently run correctly but at least you can edit the settings that way.
now things get really weird. Using holo themer version 3.0 I manage to boot up the fire tv with it still active .. although not every time. Like I had to restart it (unplug + replug) it 3 times and then it finally boot through. No clearing dalvik - nothing inbetween. Dont get it.. but at least its kinda workin now...
------
ADD: Well it seems to be that only cold-booting works with holo themer installed. When I make a restart through settings the device bootloops, when I take out the wall plug and make a cold boot it does boot up..
Does the Adobe Flash Player comes with the sideloaded Firefox app?

5.2.4.1. You can remap to any application with the pro version, I remapped to FiredTV. Testing today revealed that the voice search button no longer works when using Xposed Additions though.
You can also remap the home button with GravityBox (LP), but it only allows you to remap double-tap and long press of the home button. But I did remap that to FiredTV successfully as well.

I tried to re-map the home button to start FireStarter application by installing Xposed Additions pro via Google play store on my rooted Fire TV (first gen) with pre-rooted 5.2.4.1 ROM but no luck. Am I missing something?

Guys try out the XPosed Edge Pro. It seems to be the most complete XPosed module that is compatible with FTV devices. It should even be compatible with FireOS 3.
It brought back all the options FireStarter used to have. Using it with AppStarter. Plan to play with it more in the future too.
