Restore stock backup in TWRP, stuck on ATT boot logo - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
A few months ago, I installed CM 11 on my ATT d800 G2 with TWRP. I'm now in another country and am trying to unlock my SIM, but the code that I bought apparently requires stock and the only other help I've found for that involves a guy wanting to take over my phone (not gonna happen). So I'm trying back to stock to unlock my SIM then go back to CM 11.
I booted into TWRP recovery then went to Restore then chose to restore my backup of stock. Everything goes fine, but when it reboots, it gets stuck in the ATT boot logo and chime thing and the notification LED stays on. I've restored my backup of CM11 and everything is fine for now, but until I can fully boot into my stock backup the SIM card I bought in Taiwan is useless.
Thanks ahead of time

anyone?

If I remember right it was 4.2. It was in early February and was before the KitKat update. I only flashed cm11 and gapps.

When you restore the backup are you doing a full wipe and full restore? If so have you tried restoring only system?

I've only tried full. I'll try just system now.

Restoring just system and not also boot just makes the phone go black after the LG startup logo.

that's odd I am not sure why your backup restore isn't working have you tried just downloading a stock based rom and flashing?

Not really sure what it was, but I tried it the way I had been trying it several times before out of boredom, not doing anything different, and it worked on the second try. Unlocked the SIM and everything is good. Thanks

[Q] Restore on TWRP only leads to boot logo

I flashed the Slim Bean Android 4.3 rom on my D801 to discover the rom was unrooted. When I went to restore the rooted stock, (rooted with IOroot), TWRP restored the rom but when I rebooted the phone would only show the LG logo (doesn't look like boot loop). My PC recognizes that the phone is plugged in. If I can't access the internal storage, how to I flash a working rom onto the phone? What have I done wrong?

Wipe data/factory reset and reflash Slim Bean. Then download the root.zip and flash it. Now it's rooted.

Thank you, but I have already tried to do that; the same thing happens. Is there any way that I can restore the factory rom without the use of TWRP? Because I think that the backups are the problem.
Sounds like you should just restore to stock via the LG flashtool.

I had this happen too. I loaded CleanROM and it booted up without any issue.
In TWRP I selected all the advanced wipe options except for Internal Storage. Then I ran the install.
If you can't get to the OS, then you'll need to adb sideload the ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317986

Thank you, but I also tried to adb sideload. TWRP said "starting adb sideload" for about twenty minutes, and when I tried to load a rom it said the no devices were found.
It worked

If you're stuck on a recovery loop, the best solution is to restore back to stock.
Here are the instructions.
thanks

thank you i will try
This should be in questions, not development, but...
Not giving much information. What ROM are you trying to install? How big is the file? Did you check the MD5? What wipes did you perform? What were you running before you deleted the system? Do you have an EFS backup?
Try this
This worked wonders for me with a very similar problem.

I tried to install the backup again, but it also rebooted into recovery. Same thing happend if I wanted to install CM11 again.
I want to install the stock firmare using Flashtools but my phone doesn't boot into DOWNLOAD mode

My phone won't boot after installing a ROM

I was having issues with my phone not getting a GPS fix. So, I figured I'd try a few different ROMs. I was on this rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771110, and everything worked great except the GPS. I then did a TWRP backup and installed Cyanogen 11. It booted fine into it, but I still couldn't get a GPS lock. So, I thought, maybe it's a kitkat issue with my phone. So, I tried installing this rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595586, after doing a full wipe except for internal storage. It sat at "formatting", as the OP says it may, but it finally finished. Then, it wouldn't boot. It just sat at the LG logo screen. I went back into TWRP and tried a few wipes (cache, dalvik, and data), but it still wouldn't boot. So, I decided to restore my TWRP backup of Lam Hoang 7.1, and now it is still stuck at the LG logo, and won't boot.
Any help would be appreciated!
Try a different recovery. I'd start with Philz recovery. After flashing Philz recovery I'd reflash the most recent ROM listed in your second link. In my experience twrp has given me quite the trouble. Good luck.

Yes you can but you cannot restore a philz backup with twrp

How? When I go into restore backup in Philz and select my backup, it just shows me a bunch of files (some with a .md5 extension).
I got it back up. Flashed Philz and installed a rom. Then, I restored one of my backups, and it booted fine.

Did you perform a full wipe in TWRP before restoring your backup?

nope, i thought it did it by itself because it said wiping... when i hit the restore button
You may have to wipe system and format data before restoring.

ok thank you so much for the quick help
Good luck. If that doesn't work, I suggest flashing a completely stock ROM from sammobile.com, factory reset, reflash TWRP, and then try a restore.
