dual band wifi / 5Ghz wifi - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Does the G2 supports dual band wifi and 5Ghz wifi?
If so, how do I enable it?
Thanks

Yes, this phone uses a single-stream, dual-band 802.11n chipset, with a max (theoretical) transfer speed of 150 Mbps.
Under Wifi settings, Advanced, you can select whether to only use 2.4 GHz, only 5 GHz, or auto-select.
Typos courtesy of my LG G2 (D803) running Mahdi-ROM.

These settings are not always present, it depends on the firmware version maybe? I have never seen them in international 80210B, 80220B, 80220D. I think autoselect is activated by default in this case.

I had LG G2 stock and now the CloudyFlex 2.2 (which based on stock) and it's not shown in the advanced wi-fi.

I think this setting is not present on all LG based roms, it is a feature from AOSP and/or CM, on which Mahdi rom is surely based.

No 5 ghz setting on mine but the 5 ghz works fine out of the box for me. In fact I'm connected to a 5 ghz ssid right now.

[Q] Nexus 7 3G not getting cellular data Running AOKP MR1 Milestone 1

I am currently running AOKP MR1 Milestone 1, and everything so far seems to work, but the cellular data. I have an AT&T SIM, and it was working on the stock ROM. Can anyone tell me which APN they are using? I have it set to ATT LTE which I know it does not have LTE, but I have also tried setting it to the ATT WAP.Cingular, and ATT Broadband, I looked under the About Tablet > Status and it shows Network State as either disconnected, or Connecting... it's never connected anymore. Can anyone tell me what theirs is set to, and if you are using the AOKP MR1 Milestone 1 ROM? Tried it with, and without the stock Kernel if that matters.
Thanks in advance.

Did you make sure you downloaded for Tilapia instead of Grouper. One will work; one will not. Also, you may want to use more Nightly Builds, as the problems may be more likely to be fixed then.
Yes. I got it running under the ATT Broadband setting. I just had t wait a little while. Thanks for the input.

[Q] Is there any rom that has LTE enabled by default?

Hello!
I'm kind of new on this, I was wondering if there is a estable custom rom that has 4G LTE enabled by default with wifi tethering as well, I am on the T-mobile network in a 4G LTE enabled area and is annoying to do dial everytime I restart or tunr off my my phone to enable the LTE, I am rooted and running .33 radio, THANKS FOR READING.

Look on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209368, that may help you. Not rom related btw, only by the radio. Need root though.
you missunderstood my quetion
I already know that, what I want is a stable rom that has LTE enabled by default instead of dialing every time I restart the phone

If you absolutely must, you can edit the build.prop:
Go to the line with telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0 and replace it with:
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
ro.ril.def.preferred.network=9
You may need to wipe dalvik cache or clear your data. On CM based ROMs this enables the LTE tile in QuickSettings and will save LTE on/off status through reboot. I don't necessarily recommend using LTE personally, however.

Any reason why? Just curious mostly (I'm nowhere near a LTE area)

You lose features specifically continuous focus on the camera and network based location services whole connected to LTE.

GPS doesn't (always) work correctly
Using the .33 or older radios with 4.2.2 can cause continuous autofocus issues (as above poster mentions)
On stock 4.2.2 will cause call audio issues (on T-Mobile, reports say it works fine on other carriers, it also works fine on CM and some other ROMs)
Google Now doesn't work over LTE
Since most carriers don't have VoLTE (Voice over LTE) enabled, when receiving or making a call the phone takes a minimum of 10-20 seconds to switch from LTE to UMTS because a call can't be made while on LTE and calls can just plain fail when LTE doesn't want to be switched off (even with changes, the radio seems to have a lot of trouble switching between LTE and GSM/UMTS/HSPA)
I've made the changes to my build.prop, I just very, very rarely turn LTE on. I get up to 30Mbps on HSPA+, I don't really need LTE, unless I want to brag about getting 50-70Mbps, because it isn't worth dealing with all of the above. LTE is nice if you're in a strong LTE signal area (the radios refuse to switch from LTE to HSPA+ when the signal is exceptionally low unless you switch LTE back off), don't make or receive calls, need a massive amount of bandwidth that's larger than most people get at home in the US, and want to use up your data allotment as quickly as possible.

Does Yu Yureka support wireless on 5GHz band ?

Hello all,
I searched everywhere but I couldn't find a straight answer for this issue. Does this phone support wireless ( Wi-Fi ) on the 5 GHz band ?
I don't care if it is 802.11n or 802.11ac standard but does it detect a wireless router running on the 5 GHz frequencies ?
Anybody who has a dual band router can test this out and see if the 5 GHz network is also seen or not.
I have a router which only works on 5 GHz ( single band ) so I want to buy this phone but I want to know if it will work otherwise I will look for something else.
Thank you in advance !!!
Nobody has 5 GHz wireless network near them to check ?

Amazing ROM..
Really cool ROM. However overheats while charging. How to use kernel 1.8? Please let me know the procedure.
I have a dual band router. It shows only 2.4 GHz band. Doesn't show 5 GHz band. Tried with official stock yu rom based on android 5.0 as well as Cyanogen Snapshot rom based on android 5.1 . It did not work in any of them.

No wifi in a brand new yd201 from Hong Kong

Hi
I'd appreciate if anyone could help me with this.
I received a new yd201 last week, and I haven't been able to connect the wifi. It doesn't detect my wifi signal even if I'm touching the router with my left hand when trying. I've tried all the tricks I could find in the internet in order to solve this: change settings, (including developer settings), hard resets... but nothing changed.
There are about 15 wifi signals I can see with any device at home, but Yotaphone only shows 1, and it's my neighbour's.
Thanks
If it is possible you have to understand difference between WiFi of your neighbor and your. It is possible changing region in the wifi advanced menu change your situation... or changing in the same menu the frequency band of WiFi.
Did you look in the extended wifi settings if the wifi frequency is set to automatic?
It could be set on 2,4 Gz or 5 Ghz.
Some Routers only have 2,4 Ghz.
You can try putting 2,4
It is possible the router of your neighbor is only 2.4
I have tried every trick there is available in internet.
It shows only 5 Ghz channels, no matter which otion is selected in the advanced settings menu. If I select 2.4 Ghz no chanel appears ever.
Wrong Radio Rom installed? (f.i. 2.3-2.4 GHz is 4G in Asia, HK-Radio-Rom installed?)
In most other countries
YD201 should work with RU-Radio
YD206 should work with CN-Radio
You are shure, that your Yotaphone is YD201? IMEI is 356...?

I'm pretty sure the RU/CN radio has nothing to do with this problem
I'm using a YD206 with RU-Radio and I can use wifi/bluetooth/2G/3G/4G all fine.

LG-H990ds compatibility in UK?

I've just bought a V20 and noticed that it's a Taiwanese model (model LG-H990DS, with TWN firmware). The first two issues that I've noticed are:
- it won't connect to 4G (I'm on Plusnet Mobile, which uses the EE network). It will only connect to 2G according to the notification bar
- it won't connect to either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wifi networks on my Asus RT-AC68U router (although it will connect to a Belkin access point that I have elsewhere in the house).
Are the above caused by basic hardware incompatibilities, or can they be resolved by a firmware update?

Hi
The H990DS should have no problem connecting EE network as it is The Global version and supports LTE bands 3,7 and 20 which are used in UK and EE uses 3 and 7. I have a Verizon V20 which I use on Virgin and it has no problem connecting as Virgin piggyback on EE as well.
It may be your firmware needs updating.

My current firmware is V10i-TWN-XX. Should I be looking for a different version? If so, what's the recommended way of obtaining and flashing it?
That is the most current version of the firmware.
Theoretically Oreo will be released in August, barring further delays.
Silly thoughts:
Which SIM card slot is the SIM in? 1 or 2? It can make a difference when using two SIM's - only one will get 4G/LTE while the other gets 2G.
Is the phone new, never previously been used?
Finally see the attached screenshot of the network settings under: Networks/More/Mobile Networks/Network Mode. If for some reason it got set to 2G that could be the problem.
Note: I'm only using 3G network access so that's why in the screenshot it only shows 3G (Notification bar) even though it's set to auto LTE.
As for the WiFi issues, mine seems to be a bit quirky in not always connecting to some routers, 99% is no problem then you can run into one that for what ever reason it refuses to connect. At the radio station I work at (part time) my V20 simply refuses to connect even though I have the password. Works fine with my tablet & Motorola phone but no go on the V20. Go figure.
Best of luck figuring it out.

Thanks for that. I have my SIM in the SIM1 slot, and my Preferred Network Mode is GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto, which I guess is correct. The phone is second-hand (bought from Music Magpie).
I have now managed to get 3G (with "H" displayed - HSPA presumably), but I haven't been able to get 4G anywhere that I've travelled in London so far.
In the last day it has also finally recognised my Asus router, so that's a big step forward.
Hey i have an lg v20 h990n as far as can tell from reading specs its got the same frequencies and bands mine works totally fine with ee o2 and vodafone its suppose to work with three ... it also works with my tp link vr600v2 works fine with 5ghz and 2.4ghz also my sisters and partners carrier supplied routers i might suggest that you received a defective one id return it if you cant get it sorted music magpie charge loads too for this phone
