hi i have a samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9505 xxuemj7 with android 4.3 and knox, how can i root and install CWM?
If your root and flash recovery note you will loose KNOX capabilities and trigger the KNOX counter and you can not downgrade to any lower firmware version after that.
If your happy with the above:
Flash CF-Root as PDA in Odin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803&highlight=chainfire
Then download any recovery you want to use, and flash again with Odin. Most here recommend TWRP or Philz Recovery.

Hi everyone, I need help, because today I was trying to install TWRP (2.7.0.4 and also tried 2.7.0.34) in my Exynos Note 3 with Odin 3.09 (I tried 3.07 too) and I do the process correctly and it says RESET! with no errors, but when I try to enter the recovery, it boots the stock recovery :/
Why is this happening?
Thank you very much.
Did you flash CWM before that? Odin and TWRP aren´t friends
Or try TWRP manager. In manager flash img

No because I don't have the phone rooted, the idea is install the recovery and then root it. I will try with CWM
Didn't know you could install custom recovery without being rooted. . and I think you don't. If you want to root anyway than just do it and than install cwm mate.

I solve the problem, I untick the Auto reboot in Odin and then enter recovery without restart and installed a .zip to solve that program and then I rooted it and I'm happy

But I think he can install CWM without root It change KNOX to 0x1. And after that install TWRP
Because in custom recovery he choose root with SuperSU

Just informed myself..lol and you are right. But it is a real pain in the a**. You need to flash bootloader and... never mind he fixed it anyway by rooting
I'm using their latest firmware and update. Is it possible to root? I just want to change the resolution of the screen -- everything is so damn huge.
Install a launcher. Also reduce text size.

An easy way to root would be to install TWRP and flash supersu from TWRP. This will also trip the knox counter and change it from 0x0 to 0x1. This is not an issue unless you still have warranty on the phone.
I also recommend updating to the latest doh1 ROM before installing TWRP.

So you have successfully flashed N900W8VLU2DOH1 firmware and rooted it with the latest, which is for 5.0, cf-auto-root from chainfire.eu?
Nope, I used supersu.zip which was from from TWRP.
I've posted my solutions here

You can try Philz Touch (CWM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/recovery-philz-smnu-t2980094
If that doesn't work for you, I'd recommend trying to use FlashFire to install CM12.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/flashfire-t3075433
Any custom recovery is going to show that seandroid notification, that's not an error. And I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure any custom recovery will trip the KNOX flag, as will any cyanogenmod rom

Hi i want to root Stock 6.0.1 mm and keep stock recovery. So do we have to flash TWRP in order to root stock 6.0.1 mm? Or just flashing the cf-root file via odin alone will give root access? Thanks

CF-root via odin will root your device and you'll keep stock recovery.
I wonder what's the point of keeping stock recovery by the way

Thanks, i tend to use stock samsung rom always, but just like root to remove crap, titanium backup and some apps that require root permissions. Btw what options on odin do we tick when flashing the cf-root file?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Hmm, I guess if you never need to flash anything then keeping the original could be OK.
I'd say trwp is still useful to perform backup (entire rom at a time).
Well normally, you don't need to tick any options (the useful ones are ticked already).
So, only auto reboot and F.Reset time should be ticked.

When i had the S4 a few years ago, i had clockworkmod recovery which was great and i was familiar with, but was not ever a fan of twrp even then, so decided to stay stock with the s5 but thanks for the help mate.

Hi mate, just rooted my s5 via odin and cf-root file. However every time I reboot the phone, i get a "Set warranty bit" message in yellow at the top of the screen, I did do a wipe cache after I rooted. How do i remove that message? thanks
To my knowledge, you can't get rid of this message which was tripped by the rooting process.
But it doesn't make any difference anyway so you might as well leave it!
Then, you can run the root to the Galaxy S5 SM-G900F Android 6.0.1 and Kernel of May 31, 2016 without triggering this blessed knox 0x1?
I still have not figured out if it is feasible, and if you can do as you progress? Towelroot works?

It doesn't. I installed all these automatic upgrades and tried to use towelroot, but it said, that the device isn't supported. :crying: :crying: :crying:
do i need to unlock the boooader before or after
do i need to unlock the boooader before or after?
or not at all?
obviously the first file that i need to flash (twrp) is the custom recovery.
do i unlock the bootloader before this?
