As I always say noobs like me read this, who are interested to how is Samsung progressing towards ICS, anyone thinks himself beyond noob or attracted to non TW ROM's please save your time.
Some points I am skipping atm, because they are same as KP8, read that aside it if you wanna,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421269&highlight=my+first+impressions
• Last time I said regarding KP8 that it was hell of a lot better, now I've to say it again, much better than previous KP8, and more stable of course.
• Phone calls were great, loud enough earpiece volume. Noise reduction is present usually.
• Vibration intesity is same as GB, which is great, and believe me or not RT volumes seems louder than before , by before I mean GB!
• Incoming call UI is same as before, answer/reject sliding animations still don't work!
• Phone signal is solid, stable. 3G working fine, same goes for WiFi and BT.
• Stock browser is just getting better and better, smooth, some guys will definitely hate the new elastic type scrolling, I kinda like it, sites went well with flash, pinch to zoom smooth as hell, no lag in any place. Brilliant all over. No Exit button still.
If I am not wrong then download support for all types of files is now present, tried with some different files, all was well. Need more feedbacks on this though.
• All the TW widgets are same as before, so not wasting time saying here again.
• 480x800 wallpapers are working fine, finally, which is a big relief for me. LWP works fine too, but not smooth as GB, some lags here and there.
• Market and downloading works fine. Download GO launcher and used it as default, no problem.
• Camera and Video recorder works all fine.
• Lockscreen ICS lock is still looks weird. Just swiping the screen unlocks the device!, don't know what's the point of ICS lock icon then.
• Swype is here Version 3.2.92 and it works great as usual.
• GPS lock is fine.
• YouTube videos plated well, but some lags are there.
• 1080P MKV files ran with audio, lag is prominent, so if someone watches HD videos regularly then it will be a PITA.
Tried MX- Little better than Stock, still not watchable
• Unread SMS icon is same as before (KP8). Missed call icon is finally here in LS. See attachments.
• Connection with PC worked at first time.
• Believe me or not phone Shut down time was damn fast, less than 5 seconds.
• Used it for 90+ minutes and there was no FC! Some lags are here and there, but not a single FC with any app.
• Mobile Odin worked before flashing and after rooting with CF it worked again. SU and CWM is there as usual.
• Allover UI smoothness was great IMO.
• Developer Options are present there as usual.
• FM radio works fine.
• Copy/Paste pop up UI has been changed in whole system, it is there at the top for both landscape and portrait.
• Bookmarks menu changed in Stock browser.
• Touch keys don't light up.
• There is no more additional/permanent Vibrate icon in taskbar anymore, doesn't matter of Vibration is enabled in your device or not. Many people would like this old feature I guess
• Face Unlock doesn't work.
••• All I can say I am way impressed with this ROM, almost all the needed features are present and working fine, which is always the most important part other than giving some great stuffs and taking away some common features and those nuisance, if this has been released by some other developers then XDA would have populate them like hell. TW bashers will still bash this I am sure, but doesn't matter because it looks pretty cool with ICS, so bad news for TW trollers.
You can definitely use this ROM as daily use, that I can say.
I am going back to my Nandroid as I always stay on finished/official stuffs, but it was a great experience for sure.

Well i have to say that i had the phone connected with USB and after 1 hour i tried to open it by pressing the hard key and nothing happened so i did hard reboot and when i booted the battery was from 50% to 10%
Not to mention that my soft keys don't light up when i press them but they work.
Also the TWLacunher is way too laggy!
Thanks for the impressions! Judging by the progress Samsung is making they will most likely make their Q1 deadline
Props to Samsung, and kudos to Sammobile for getting us this firmware.
Haters gonna hate.
Thank you for testing for me.
Have just downloaded the cwm packaged rom. Will flash now.
to exit the browser go into the windows/bookmarks menu and click X on all opened windows , then the browser closes itself.
this feature isn't available in gingerbread firmwares
Does FM Radio work on this leak?
To be honest, I'm started to think that Sammy will leave that TW theme to official ICS release, I mean that crappy green bar at RAM Status(and also in other menus), that notification bar, also, why they just can't do same lock screen as on Nexus with other icons, are they wanna keep old lock screen without any functionality ;/
Damn, they should completely redesign that TouchWiz to a new look, without that cartoonish icons and overall look. ICS is not only a new version of OS, it's totally new design too.
Great overview by the way.
regarding the 1080p playback
what's the point of watching a 1920x1080 resolution movie on a 800x480 resolution screen ?
Even though it's a bit laggy now it doesn't quite matter to me. Who transfers 8 gb movies on his phone ?
Did you get chance to try the FM radio, does it work?
Trying Wanam's XXKPA build right now! I'll report back!

The phone's MHL port lets you output the movie to an external display
Thorough overview, many thanks.
Looks promising but I'm going to wait. My current setup (krinyo's SlimROM,) is bug-free and perfect for my needs. Plus I'll need a monochrome theme, a dealbreaker for me.
Will probably try it one week before I buy the SGS3...

I agree with you. But 1080p played fine before, so it should work as before, will definitely be fixed in final release I am sure.
I am still on this ROM, really nice experience.

Atleast one x10'er here
I will also try this ICS after testing a new recovery by a dev(its a secret)
I found the xxkp8 any better. I find that have deteriorated too much to the small details
At first, the phone signal is green at my phone, it has never been green before!
Next thing is, contacts crashed also the browser and Maps does!
I hope the alarm is working properly, else i will oversleep tomorrow.
Thnx for your test and coloured pros and cons
Frame rate locked at 30
As I always say, for noobs, but not kids
A HUGE thanks to sammobiles for leaking these ROM's, whatever some gobs say don't matter, they have been doing splendid job for the last three months, from the very first ICS leak. All I know is, no sammobile, no ICS leak, you don't need to be developer for this, but just common sense.
Never said this, but should've, a lot earlier.
• How did I install? Normal Odin (Desktop) way. PDA, Modem and CSC, skipped the App boot. It will definitely Wipe your device. In previous occasions I was flashing with Mobile Odin but the Modem and CSC always got messed up at the end.
Q- How to restore Nandroid backup taken with a kernel but not CF?
A-
Simple. Flash that kernel (Siyah for example) in Recovery (Hope you're already rooted with CF LPH kernel) >> DO NOT reboot system, but reboot in recovery >> You'll have Siyah recovery now, simply Advanced restore Data, wait till it restores >> Again, DO NOT reboot device >> Power it off >> Go to Download Mode and connect the device with Odin in PC >> Flash the CF LPH kernel >> DONE.

• Chainfire root for LPH:

• Mod JazzK battery mod from kitchen:

Previous leak was XXLPB, impressions were at,
• http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477672&highlight=my+first+impressions
• As usual good phone calls, in call volume is loud enough both in earpiece and speaker. NR is present.
• Vibration intensity is same strong as before.
• Same incoming call UI. Answer/Reject sliders don't work! I hate it.
• 480x800 wallpapers are working properly on both homescreen and lockscreen.
• Market is fine. No problem in downloading.
• WiFi, 3G/H+, Bluetooth all working. WiFi signal remains with the upload/download icons.
• FM Radio works.
• Network mode is present. Strong signal in 2G as it should.
• Swype is same version, Beta 3.26.92. The Swyping color is changed to Orange, lol. The default keyboard is QWERTY now, not QWERTZ.
• GPS lock is fine both in GMaps and GPS Status.

• Camera and Video Recording is working as it always did.
• 1080P FLV video played damn smoothly with Stock player. Good.
• Same goes for HD YouTube videos.
• Same stock email app UI, it's nice.
• Browser (Stock) is buttery smooth and a pleasure. Flash plug-in works.
• The 3D kinda feel in TW launcher remains. But still no loop support for homescreen and app drawer, weird.
• Annoying ICS lock screen remains
• I have to say that the scrolling effect is completely different than previous leaks, the elasticity is present but it has been decreased hugely which makes the scrolling much faster. You don't have to scroll five, six times anymore to go down to the end of a big web page.
Not same as GB, but close.
• Face Unlock works . I am not sure but I think there is a new option added called 'Automatically Lock' if you select Face unlock or Pattern as lock method.
• Deep sleep works absolutely fine. On stock kernel atm.
• MHL/HDMI works, with Audio. Thanks to Spy0rs for informing.
• Connection with my desktop worked at first try.
• Call logs don't have compact view. Weird. As soon as you call a different number the previous dialed number shows as a different entry and doesn't count in in the same number group. Bad for a heavy callers like me.
Smart input does work however (or whatever it is called).
• Chrome Beta browser freezes after opening.
***Major CONS I've found so far and should be fixed***
► In Stock browser, Calender and some apps only the default font is applicable. Any other font other than the default won't take effect.
► While editing something in the stock browser cursor selection is weird. Hence it's almost impossible to edit any article/paragraph.
► Vibration and sound should work together without the help any third party app.
► Call logs don't categorise numbers in to compact mode. A big drawback imo.
► While refreshing email in stock email app it doesn't show any sort of notification or pop up saying refreshing or anything, so it's hard to understand if the emails are properly refreshing or not. It was there in GB, should be included here too.
► Answer/Reject incoming call icons won't slide, really? That's disgusting.

••• So far so good, touch screen responsiveness is at par with LPB, I didn't notice any decreased response like sammobile mentioned. Scrolling as I said is totally different from previous leaks. Looking all good till now. Better than LPB, but marginally. •••
*** Definitely a daily usable ROM ***
•• Video ••
As I always request please come and post your feedback on this ROM if you are already flashed and using it, both Cons and Pros. Please comment if you have downloaded form sammobile, others downloaded from any other place please don't comment.
Thank you.

@ithehappy Check PM.
Good summary.
If only it kept the stock ICS look. I know this horse has been beaten to hell and back, but all that effort/time/money to make something that, in my opinion, looks like crap.
Funny enough LPB is probably the most stable ROM I've used since the official GB ROMs from Samsung...
And before someone says theme, no, it's just not the same as CM9 and you're sure to find it's like lipstick on a pig at some point (incoming call, unlock screen, etc)
Anyway, I'll probably flash it, lol. I love the ICS apps and features enough to overlook the appearance.
Ty @ithehappy this is really much appreciated and very fast two top man....
I agree, your reviews help a lot. I flash every leak but it helps to see issues that I may not notice right away and it gives me an idea of what to expect.

there is no app to overclock, stock kernel doesn't support oc, you have to wait for kernel sources and then custom kernel.

I have a question though, a no wipe version has been posted, but I have never seen you mention if you do a no wipe upgrade from a Gingerbread ROM or if you factory reset after the upgrade or anything like that, can you please clarify this for me???

Any Apps that are not in the Rom that you want, add them into the Rom by using 7Zip, and the stock Rooted Russian Rom, or I could upload a couple for you.
By removing alot of the Bloatware, my Battery life has greatly improved. However, to improve your Battery life even more:
If you dont mind not having emails for a while, (when at work or out and about busy)
Use the Toggle Buttons on the top. Turn off Mobile Data (It will lose the 3g + 4g symbol but you can still make calls)
Turn off Auto Sync
Also go to settings - Accounts and Sync - Turn off Background Data
I know this creates a DumbPhone, however if you dont need Emails and data draining battery at that moment, its a good way to save Battery!!

Most probably due to the removal of certain apps, i removed them due to batterydrain, and ram issues. You could download the untouched no bell bloatware rom dsixda posted ( the old forum) then use 7zip and transfer over all the apps from that rom, to My modded rom, ( except systemui.apk)that way you have the apps back and the mods.

There is a known issue with some Samsung devices like this one and the Infuse, where a software Reboot to Recovery causes the device to always reboot to recovery instead of back to the system. Read my CWM recovery thread for details.
Overclock is not possible without a custom kernel. I don't believe we have kernel sources.
I am currently using Nexus Torch for flashlight. Been using that since the Nexus One

Is it me or camera IQ seems better in 4.4.4? I've taken some pictures of trees from far away and there seems to be some more detail resolved than usual, less "painting" effect.. or it could be me. What are your impressions with the update on this regard?

the only way to find out is to flash a stock based rom (tweaky rom which is still on 4.4.2) and take a picture there than restore to a 4.4.4 backup and see if there is any difference
See for yourselves, this looks quite detailed to me. These are as taken, no photoshopping to make them look better. At least you can make out the leaves, you couldn't do that before. That other picture was a macro attempt, and the focused part comes out quite clear.
To me, this is better than on 4.4.2, I had taken pictures like these before of the same things (sadly I've deleted them so we can't compare) and from memory this is better. Check it out for yourselves on your usual shooting subjects if you see improvements.
edit: Please try to keep a steady hand. If there's something this phone hates, it's shaky hands... even the slightest shake will screw up your pictures.
Some of the changelog is from things in 4.4.3 which non 4g/lte users won't get as they update straight to 4.4.4
For instance the setting to hide carrier in status bar is in 4.4.3
Edit: also i can disable those motorola apps on 4.4.3

Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk
I've observed some Miracast / DNLA fixes in 4.4.3 (and therefore 4.4.4.)
This feature now works correctly with Android 4.4.3. However, you still need to enable the 'Cast screen' settings menu by adding the following line (if not already present) to /system/build.prop:
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
Additionally, 4.4.3 improves compatibility with Allcast and BubbleUPnP, along with other DNLA apps that did not operate correctly in 4.4.2.

Noticed the IQ improvement on hdr mode. More detail with a slight contrast boost.

Can anyone compare the battery stamina with the new stock 4.4.4 and the old 4.4.2 ?
Thank's
To me the quality seems poor like before.
Instead, it seems to me that the camera shots photos faster in every mode (single shot, HDR, sequence, etc.). Please check this and let me know.
Battery seems as good as before to me.
Been using 4.4.4 since last night so i can't say nothing about battery backup yet. Phone is smooth and i can't see more lag than before.
Idle CPU usage seems to be bit higher than 4.4.2 where it was 0-3%, now i see 5% and 15% pikes all the time.

Odd, my battery is the same with location off, but I usually use device only and in 4.4.2 it didn't drain the battery, but now it does, a lot, most apps now show high battery use, which is odd, so I disabled it.
Wi-Fi or mobile data on? Or none? Check the time without signal, when I first updated I had a 5 hour period showing I had 100% no signal (ironically, I was using Mobile data 50% of that time, and no second sim in)

Thread updated due to a new bug introduced from Motorola to the already-bad camera software... autofocus now works really worse then before, especially shooting nearby subjects

I was quite disappointed by the update and I am thinking about rolling back on Kitkat. Those are my main concerns with Lollipop, feel free to share yours or your solutions/workarounds. So do not install Lollipop if:
You care about homescreen widgets, indeed in Lollipop you can have notifications on the homescreen but it is all or nothing. You can't just have whatsapp or email for example. If you select no notifications, there is not even an icon in the status bar.
You want to use Xposed or Xprivacy. Indeed xposed is buggy and xprivacy does not work well (if you can install it without bootloops, which I couldn't)
You would like an efficient app switcher, this kind of drawer in Lollipop just complicate things, do not provide a good overview but that's my point of view. In addition it does not come with the close all button on every customizations
You don't want a blue notification bar which looks too bright in apps
You care about battery life. Indeed it seems that Lollipop is buggy and has some memory leaks which slow down the system and make it use more CPU I was wrong about this one, while there are memory leaks they do not seem to affect battery life significantly
If you want to be able to switch on silent/airplane mode from the power off menu
if you want to keep ‘hi-res audio via usb’ ... as its gone in Lollipop. | reported by Scoobidu
if you liked the ability to go to relevant settings (wifi for example) by a long tap (on the wifi icon) in the control centerstill possible if you tap the name and not the icon, my bad

I approve everything that you said, my suggestion for everybody is to update to lollipop only when they'll make a 5.1 update that solves the cpu and memory problem.

Battery is the same. Performance is better. Especially on 726. Even benchmarks prove it.
You can change the theme to change the colour of the bar.

Yeap, battery for me is quite the same, I am regreting because of xposed. But haopy because finally I can change from landscape to portrait easily and faster. Animations rock and the old statusbar sucked. New lockscreen is way better than the old one. And double tap to sleep works faster too. All while battery being a bit better than before.

Aside from the small Xposed thing, I don't have a lot to complain about actually. Kinda like Lollipop.
Gonna try 23.1.A.0.726 if u say so..

Maan, I need a way to modify the NAV bar... Having the back key so far away when using constantly, irritates me. ALSO a way to set flashlight to a keypress...(xposed whyyy)

Yes Xposed is the biggest loss, you can install the alpha version of Xposed, maybe it will work I am not sure why it caused a bootloop for me (might also be older modules) the only catch is that you might have to reflash /system through the recovery (step 40 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343) in case of bootloop but you don't loose your data/apps.

I have already rolled back to kitkat.. I prefer the UI and everything i need is compatible and working how it should ..
I have to say I didnt enjoy my experience with lollipop and can't see myself attempting the update again..
There were just no benefits for me other than it felt a tiny bit more snappier.
Poor/rushed effort from Sony in my eyes, they could of done alot better.

Even I've rolled back to KitKat.. I love the lollipop animation and the fact that is quicker, but not having the possibility to have more quicksetting (using Serajr Xposed App) and using many GB setting is a a enormous loss for me (and I hate the new silent mode on lollipop!) .. If CM didn't have the photo problem because of the loss of the algorithm, I would installed immediately . For now I'll stay on KitKat, waiting for having back the xposed modules at full potential. Just my thoughts and experience anyway!

Notifications are a mess on Lollipop, either you have your lock screen full of notifications or nothing. You can just have icons in the status bar as on KitKat. As for the the silent mode of Lollipop, regular modes are also available if you put it on "normal ringer" and you click the speaker it will go on vibration instead. That said the power off menu is crappy too, no possiblity to put on silent, no possbility to put on flight mode.

You can still silent mode by pressing the volume button.
The themer a lil useless for me now, not sure if its the same for you guys but i theming changes nothing much other than minor colors, the nav bar seems to be unable to theme.
Agreed that the app switcher is not as efficient.
Anyways if you feel the animations a lil not your taste what i did was to set it to 0.5 in developer option. =)
Yes, you can change using the volume button but then you have to unlock the phone, press volume, press silent. Before you just pressed power, silent. Much better in a meeting were you forgot to silence it.
I was wrong, you can silence it while locked.
