Stuck with only Firmware update mode - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hope someone can help me out.. I have read forums for hours and hours.
Been running various roms for years but did something apparently really dumb.. was having trouble with a newer paranoid android release and was changing my twrp... attemped to install cwm instead but that didnt work.
What I am left with now is ONLY the Firmware update mode.. I can't boot to recovery, it does not go to fastboot, and the system does not load.
When I try to load the recovery or system I will just get a 'secure booting error' and black screen following it.
Tried to access the phone through adb, and fastboot from the computer, as well as the lg support program but nothing seems to see it..whether it is in the firmware update mode or if it is at the black screen.
Im pretty much at the end of my options that I can find on the web for help. Have I actually completely bricked it for good?

Download mode is all you need for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476

FIXED
Well ill be damned!
I dont think I could have been more bricked than I was.. Butttttttt yes.. download mode is all you need, you were right Art.. after taking a nap at 5am, I finally dawned on the missing piece of information that I didnt see anywhere!!
And this seems to be important so people might really wanna know this!!
HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.
When you are copy and pasting your files into LGMOBILEAX.... MAKE SURE YOU CAN SEE HIDDEN FILES!!!!!!!
Back up and running!!!!!
Now to reinstall paranoid android.. does that make me crazy or just stupid. hahaha.

[Q] Bricked Vibrant? Please help me

I rooted my phone today, all went well, so I decided to try a new 2.2 ROM. Made a clockwork backup and was able to install the new ROM no problem, but I had a bunch of contacts and such that were saved to the phone and not backed up, so I booted into recovery mode (with the help of ROM Manager as my phone is one of the hw locked ones) and restored my backup thinking I could use Titanium Backup to backup all the contacts and the few apps I wanted to keep, then reinstall the new ROM. It went through the restore process, but when it finished and rebooted it got stuck at the Vibrant / Samsung screen. I've searched through dozens and dozens of threads, but I can't figure it out. What can I do if I can't get into recovery (or download) mode? I sure hope it can be fixed.
That just happened to me yesterday and this method fixed my vibrant
Per that thread:
1.Your Device must be in DOWNLOAD mode to use ODIN.
I'm unable to get into download mode.
Well, first of all; there is a fix for hardware locked phones that you really should have flashed first. It worked like a charm on my own phone, allowing me to get into download and recovery mode.
A good place to start is here with the holy bible.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
I recommend looking at this download technique
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749413
If that doesn't work, you can make this simple little jig to pop it into download mode.

And if you get your phone back to a stable state. I recommend looking at the hardware lock fixes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802763
yes that can be tricky but watch this video it went right to download the first time for me
ceosmind: Followed the video several times, but I only get the green battery screen. If I hit power as well, I get stuck at the Vibrant Screen.
cwoodworth: I'm pouring though the links you gave...I'll report soon
cwoodworth:
Link 1 is awesome, but everything I read in there needs the phone in recovery or download mode, which I can't get to.
Link 2 didn't work, can't get the phone to boot.
Link 3 sounds promising, but it would have to wait till tomorrow as I don't have the requisite parts
Link 4 is good info, but I can't apply it until I get my phone to boot in some fashion
Ya, honestly you need to just search around the forums for all the different techniques that people have for getting into one or the other. Aim to get into download mode, because then you can reflash a good image.
Chances are you ran a NANDROID restore without flashing a 2.1 kernel (unless your backup was 2.2 as well which means I'm totally wrong). To fix this, see if you can boot into recovery and perform "adb mount" and push a 2.1 kernel to the phone. Flash the 2.1 kernel and your phone should boot properly.
Open up odin on your pc,take the battery out of your phone, put it back in , hold the volume up and down keys, plug the usb into your phone this should get you into download mode. I dont know if this will work because your hw locked but it can't hurt to try good luck.

go_l_den : You called it... I was under the impression that the backup was a full backup including the kernel.
I've tried every way I can find to get it into recovery or download mode, looks like I have 2 options left
1. Make a jig to force it into download mode tomorrow
2. Try to trade the phone for another at T-Mobile
Bummer
AustinKnight45: When I try that I only get the green battery screen. I've tried in both Linux and windoze
whoops, double post

[Q] Vzw having SERIOUS issues flashing with no download mode!!!

ok, so i have the verizon lg g2, i have flashed numerous phones before and never had anything like this happen. First off, it took me hours to just get the thing rooted after going thru about 15 different walkthrus before one worked.
Then i decided i wanted Malladus ROM so i tried flashing twrp recovery with loki, didnt work, went thru damn near every forum about it coming out with nothing....until...found one talking about flashify and everyone said it worked fine. So i do it, took about 1 second and said it worked, restarted and nothing had changed, except now i cannot enter download mode! When i do it just shows "firmware update" it never changes, left it on all night still at 0%.
I have unrooted it (even though it still says its rooted, but no longer have permissions) and i did a full reset, NOTHING works!!
So before you guys chime in, let me tell you what i have tried....EVERYTHING lol .....I know the only way to fix my phone to fully unroot it is to flash back to original rom, so i went to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960 and that wont work because 1. cant get into dl mode, and 2 it wont let me open the flash tool (did everything right, researched and came up with nothing)
then i went to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 cant get that to work either because cant get into dl mode, so now i have TWO 2.2gb rom files on my comp that i cant use,
And just to be clear, I KNOW HOW to go to dl mode lol, i have wrote it several forums and all people keep saying is the stuff ive already said.
Oh and i cant push with adb either...that is how i originally tried twrp and after 3 hours of trying to figure it out i finally got it to go thru (it was wrong i think but it worked) and that may be what has caused it to crash the dl screen.
Ive never used adb before and after reading 7 diff forums beginning to end (bout a 1000 pages) i realized they were all the same but do not actually explain enough for someone who has never one it. It said to push, well idk what that meant! lol I need step by step instructions in order to fix this, even the tiniest of things may be something i would miss.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thanks guys!
Download mode should work... The first night I got my G2 it was about 4 in the morning, and I immediately installed TWRP on it (3.2 is what you want 3.3 doesn't work), and promptly erased everything on my phone... Partition, data, and everything.
But download mode was still intact, and that first thread you linked worked just fine for me. If you're having issues with that flash tool and being stuck at a login screen, you missed the part where it tells you to download a DLL file and place it the flash tool install directory. That file will bypass the system login and let you use the program.
I don't know how long you've been up, but I'd say take a break and come back to it in a bit. If you still can't download mode to work, have a friend come over and look up how to get in download mode, then have them try it. I've done that many times... Thought I was doing everything right and a second pair of fresh eyes found some tiny thing I overlooked in the process.
I hope you get your phone working man, sorry I can't be of more specific help.

[Q] SGH-I337 Download Mode Problem?

Greetings everyone,
So will not try to type out a book here, but want to try to include all the info/everything I have done do this point. I recently purchased a Galaxy S4 ( SGH-I337) ATT model. My end goal was to have it rooted with CM 11 installed on it. This is only the second phone I have attempted to root ( First was Atrix HD which went overall fine). I'm basing my end goal off of it, in that I am wanting to have it rooted with CM 11 installed. I started off by downloading Odin and used towel and was able to get the phone rooted. That seemed to have gone without too many problems. I tried to do as much reading as I could, but I'm sure I either misread or overlooked where I went wrong next. I then installed TWRP in the hopes of getting CM 11 installed. This is where the problems start. After installing TWRP ( later reading I saw I probably should have used Philz soft touch??) and restarting my phone it would only go into " Download Mode" and would forever just sit there. I did some searching and saw how to get past this simply by just restarting and holding the volume up and selecting now that I did not want to enter into Download mode. At this point I decided to go download the stock ROM and start over. I downloaded and followed the instructions from

androidrootz.com/2014/03/how-to-unrootunbrick-at-galaxy-s4-sgh.html . From that point is where things went to hell in a hand-basket. My phone will load but whenever I try to turn on Wifi to try to re-root I get a Security Information message saying that it has blocked Wifi from turning on. Quick Google search says this is built in security "Knox"? that is causing this. Posts say that I have the wrong firmware for this phone? The bigger problem seems to be that now when I try to boot into recovery, I get a background that says "No Command" and red lettering at the top that says " Android system recovery <3e>. I have options to reboot system now, update from ADB and others. At the bottom it says #Manual Mode# Successfully applied multi-CSC. So somehow I think i have corrupted the boot loader. Of course Odin will not recognize the phone in this state to try to push any kind of firmware or boot-loader to it. At this point I truley am clueless and lost. Not at all above saying I'm above my head and need some guidence or help from someone who knows a lot more about this then I do. I really thought I had read and done plenty of research before I tried this, but non the less I have a phone I can't get into recovery and once booted, I can't get wifi to work. Tl,dr sure looks like a book to me. If you just got an s4 I'm sure the bootloader can't be exploited and you can't use cm. Look through this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53758227

Thanks for the link. Very helpful info. Problem I can't seem to get around is that since any ROM i download will not pass the signature inside the recovery mode, I don't know how to get to where I can flash any kind of ROM to it. Yes sorry for the book, I just see too often people don't ever post enough info on what they have or what they have done. In essence how do i use Odin if i can't get into download mode and recovery mode will not accept any file cause it says it fails the md5 signature? Thanks for the help

I don't want to give you useless information, but make sure you're using the right steps to get into download mode.
1) Power off your device
2) Remove battery for 10 seconds
3) Replace battery
4) Hold POWER + HOME + VOLUME DOWN until you see the "Warning" Screen
5) Quickly hit the VOLUME UP button.
Then you can connect to ODIN, and go from there.

[Q] After 4 1/2 yrs on XDA I am finally stuck! Bricked No download mode, No OS.

Hello my fellow XDA Members. I am stuck in a tight spot and after reading and re-reading some things the situation doesn't look very promising. I hope this is the moment that Karma shows up and I can get some help on this. Here it goes.
Specs - LG G2 D801 Variant > TWRP V2.8.3.1 > NO OS Currently
I was running Cloudy G3 Rom smoothly and got bored and decided to flash that new rom that is a 5.0 Rom all variants. Did the usual back ups and flashed it. Something happened when I flashed the rom. It went through the Aroma installer and then said "successful" but stuck in a bootloop. I tried it again and nothing happened. Then I tried to wipe everything again and started getting an E: Cannot mount (data or system I forget which as that error went away after I completely formatted data, wiped everything and reflashed Cloudy Stock. )
> Cloudy stock bootlooped and nothing is happening in TWRP. I Am using the USB OTG method of getting files on the phone and getting it charged but anytime I try to do anything (flash a rom, an older version of TWRP) it just immediately restarts TWRP and thats that. I have No OS at all.
> I tried to use one of the methods to get into download mode and flash a stock KDZ but the phone acts like it is going into DL mode (shows the little blue transition screen) but never gets into the ACTUAL download mode where the PC or flash tool can recognize it.
So in a nutshell > No OS > I can get into TWRP but it does nothing > No Download Mode > Don't want a new phone > Don't want to take it apart and try to short circuit anything if possible. LOL.
I am totally stuck here. I am done alot of work and even helped friends and family out with their devices over the years. I am just not sure if I need to consider it a done deal and get a new phone or maybe one of you guys know of something easy and obvious (please let it be the latter) I am missing. Thanks for any help you can offer. I Will be standing by.
Have you tried to reflash bootloader? If not, do that and reflash cloudy right away

I haven't thought about flashing a bootloader. How would I flash the bootloader if I can not the phone into either DL mode and or TWRP doesn't do anything either? Is a bootloader file just a flashable file like any other .zip file?

The first one I can not do as I do not have any knowledge at all of Ubuntu, Linux, or any of that. It would take forever to get a working knowledge of that software in order to get things going again. I would probably just have to either take it to a cellphone repair shop or get another phone before I could do the first link.
I have not tried the second one but it is a viable option. I was looking at it online and trying to talk myself down from having to do that. I would reallllllllly rather not have to take my phone apart if I can keep from so that's kind of what this post is all about. Just trying to see if anyone knows of ANYTHING else before I go taking apart my phone.
Can you describe more about "twrp doesnt do anything"?
Does twrp boot up?
Can u see/wipe partitions?
Can u install any rom in twrp? Does it finish?

TWRP boots and I can go into wipe, advanced wipe, and format data and it says it's successful. I can use file manager and move items back and forth from USB OTG. If I try to flash anything it just reboots TWRP immediately so I can't install any .zip files at all.
My guess is that your bootloader is damaged.
The only option i can see for you is that Ubuntu thing i shared with you. So, lets stop acting lazy and do what needs to be done. Dont scare since there is nothing to loose. LG G2 is unbrikable
Booting up ubuntu or any other linux os is so easy. And there is nothing much to learn. Trust me.
Go to ubuntu website and download their newest iso file. Burn it on dvd and boot it up. You dont have to install it, just choose "live mode" and it boots up. Just like that. Then yiu can proceed with tutorial mentioned above and it shouldnt take more than an hour from you. Its all typing some commands in terminal (remember CMD in windows!).
Just make sure to download the files mentioned in that tutorial before proceeding.

First of all calling people lazy is not nice. I'm not lazy I am trying to play it safe. I wouldn't want to brick it to the point to where I don't even have recovery and it can not even be charged any longer. I have Ubuntu on my desktop upstairs. I have used it a little. It's not that I am completely ignorant to Ubuntu I am just a total novice. Also the issue described in that post doesn't exactly match my situation. I am not in a black screen. It's more like a bootloop that I can not get out of because TWRP is not doing what it needs to do and I can not flash TWRP a ROM or get into DL mode at all. Also that post says,
"VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! You must use the img files that correspond to the ROM you have installed before getting the problem to avoid breaking your phone."
I don't have a rom on my phone soooo...
You didn't answer my question well. If on TWRP you can finish installing rom without any error, and you keep coming to twrp after restarts, that's another situation. Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
But if you cant even finish install in twrp (twrp gives you errors or just restarts before giving you "successful", either you have problem in rom you try to flash or you need to build everything up from start.
That lazy thing was for encouraging you to do it.
And you cant brick your device. There is always a way on G2.
For img files: find them from last stock rom that was working on your phone.

[Q] D800 Stuck on LG, has CWM, has DL mode but comp no recognize HELP

So I've been working on this thing for a while but maybe it's because I'm new to this whole there are a few issues I'm having in getting it restored.
Here's the story. I purchased a bricked LG G2 D800 (I fix phones so it's not my own personal phone). It goes to the LG logo when you boot and stays there. I don't know what firmware is on it. It does however have CWM and I can connect to it via ADB but I'll list my issues there below. It does also have download mode but my computer won't recognize it the phone when it's plugged in.
CWM:
OK, some of the issues I'm having here but just be because I'm still nooby and it's hard as hell finding a complete guide to this stuff for noobs.
Anyhoo, I have:
1) Gone into sideload to install the stock zip files; however, no matter what I do, ADB "cannot read <zip.file>". I've re-zip, tried a different zip, renamed the zip, tried a different zip, rebooted. I'm out of ideas there.
2) I tried pushing the zip and install from CWM. That didn't work either.
If the thought "why are you trying to go back to stock via adb" pops into your head and YOU actually know what you're talking about, it's probably because I don't.
DL Mode:
*Comp won't recognize
*Can I even do anything here if I never authorized USB bugging?
I'm kinda lost on what to do here. I know most methods of restoring back to stock are pretty simple but since I haven't been able to get DL mode to work or get that zip file to work in sideload, I'm kinda out of ideas.
Oh, another issue I've been having: WHERE THE HELL IS THE KDZ?? I have not been able to locate the KDZ for the d800 anywhere on the interwebs. Every link I've found takes me either to the cowshare place or elsewhere but everyone has only had the .zip file... and since I have no idea what the different is between the kdz and the .zip (I did spend some time researching that one but to no avail), I'm not sure if that's a problem or how to fix it.
Another idea I had that I haven't tried yet is flashing a bootloader. IIRC from when my VS980 was stuck after trying to install Cyanogenmod, a bootloader was the fix. However, since I don't know what software is on here, I think I can just cycle through a few until something works?
Anyhoo, any suggestions would be totally welcome here.
