When I'm in another application with a white screen, I can see an outline of the home screen in the background. (but I'm not on home screen)
This sort of ruins the screen quality and makes the pictures look uneven and ruins the sharpness of the image.
Any ideas?

I bought this off Craigslist and using with tmobile. I don't think verizon will be honoring warranty unfortunatly.
Would Samsung do an RMA even if I'm not with original carrier?

It's worth a shot, give them a call.
Called Samsung. They say they only do repairs. Anyone done repair with samsung? They said to send in device and tech will first verify problem before any attempt. Will they give me a hard time?

They shouldn't, you'll be without your device for about 2 weeks if you send it to them.

I just noticed today that there is a bright line at the bottom of my screen. Tried changing wallpaper rebooting made no difference. Not sure if its a burned line on the screen now. I have attached a screen shot, any suggestion or test method I can check would be greatly appreciated.

Lol can't see it which means its probably something wrong with your display

If it's the display itself that's having a problem, you need to take a pic of it using a camera. A screen shot is just a capture of what's being projected on the screen, not the screen itself.
I had the same problem after a screen replacement on my phone which I originally broke the screen on. I would suggested taking it back to the store for a replacement handset.

Don't think so, I feel your pain mate. Its a line of dead pixels on mine it was really bright then after a few days then typically after about 2 days it changed to a really really faint line which was barely visible.

that's exactly what I have right now. A really bright thin line. this is a canadian bell sg 2 and I have rooted and unlocked with chainfire cf-root using zs kg2 kernel. So I got a yellow triangle that I need to get rid off. Any suggestions? I'm worry about the counter where they may be able to tell that the phone is has been tempered. :-(

Restore to stock firmware and reset the custom rom download counter using a USB jig.
Yellow tint on my new GT-P6800. Anyone experience this? I still have my GT-P6810 and it had a much clearer blue or white image quality. Wondering if I got a lemon or what. I ordered from Negri Electronics and received the 6800 on Monday this week. It was $399 with coupon so great deal but I may return and keep my wifi model if I can't figure out what's going on. Thanks

Here's an update with some sample images. First pictures at 100% brightness then at around 50%. Am I being crazy or does anyone see what I'm talking about? I did buy the P6810 wifi version about 8 or 9 months ago. Wondering if the slight variation could be from different manufacturing or display panel being used by Samsung.

Yes - some models have that yellowish tin, some have the bluish tint.
Part of my screen was yellowish and I sent it back for warranty claim. They replaced the screen and it is fine now. In your case, it is the whole screen and it could be difficult to justify for a replacement.

It can be masked with an app like Screen Filter but it's not ideal to fix a display issue with an after market app out of the box. The only other thing I noticed when I received the tablet was that the retail box was wrapped in plastic but the Samsung seal was broken like it was sliced with a knife. I took multiple pictures before I opened the retail box or outside plastic wrap. What do you guys think? Would you let it go or try a return for a screen with equal quality?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
I can see what you mean with the yellowish tint... It's not a major distraction but I would ask for a replacement if it was me. Better to do it sooner rather than later if u are going to do it. If they refuse then maybe ask for a discount? Not sure what the laws are in your country... Here in the uk we have pretty strong consumer laws for this kinda thing.

Oh yeah, I tried all the modes. I normally run dynamic but it was yellow tint in either of the modes versus the P6810. I'll talk with Sergio at Negro customer service. I've dealt with him before on another issue and he was awesome.

need some fast feedback on this. Last night I noted that the top left part of the screen is less bright on 0 brightness In my bed room, with careful monitoring it looks like I have pink gradient on the top part of the screen at zero brightness. Do any of you guys have this pink tint issue on top of the screen? This can be noted only in dark room with zero brightness, also with zero brightness the whole screen looks a bit pinkish but it totally vanishes once the screen brightness is increased from 0.
This issue is totally unrelated to smearing or red pixel issue afaik.
I need some opinion regarding this guys.

At 0 brightness my screen also displays a pink tint on white.
When brightness is raised the tint gets lesser

My device shows pink at the top left and also slightly all across the bottom.
This is only on very low brightness in a very dark room. Normal usage it's not noticeable
It will be good to know if your replacement device has it also. This is actually my second Galaxy S4. I returned my first after 2 days as there were 2 lighter stripes running horizontally across the screen on grey and white at lowest brightness!
My advice to you is to take the phone into a dark cupboard in the shop and double check everything! lol
The trouble with AMOLED, as I'm sure you're aware, is that you can replace a screen with 1 problem and get another problem on the new one.
Which is why I settled with my slight pink tint at low brightness screen lol
Good luck!
I also get very slight pink tint on black in dark room, but it looks pure black I am normal light. Should we be replacing or not?

but with screen adjuster the smearing in almost fixed, as of no way to fix red pixels issue unless an sw update is issued.
some people with smearing issue got red pixel issue after a firmware update right?
btw the purpose of replacement is served.. the pink tint issue is now no more

Black crush
Well, this is called 'black crush' or 'black clipping'. It is still there a little bit,but nothing serious. The first Note was horrible... Don't worry, nothing is wrong with the phone,it is a software issue, and (I think) it will be fixed soon.
Im very confused as it really distorts the display of the black.
In the settings the search field has a deep Black. Rest is more or less grey.
In the toggle menu the bottom bar has weird stripes.
It's not just a small issue. ...

You posted screen shots. No one can tell anything from those you need to take a picture of the problem using a camera. The phone's been out for over a month now. If what's happening to you were wide spread I assure you it would have been brought up (numerous times) by now. If whatever you're seeing was like that out of the box (before you loaded any apps) it's probably a h/w problem with your specific device.
I have the same issue too on my Note 3!
I'm from Singapore here.
I didn't notice that the pictures appear perfectly normal on other displays.
I did some shots with a camera.

Mine too. Isn't that supposed to be the way the display looks? Just kidding.
A display that looks like this isn't normal and if there were a lot of them people would be going nuts.
It's either something s/w related that's fried the graphics drivers or a h/w problem unique to specific phones. If it remains after a hard reset than it's h/w and the phone needs to be exchanged.
Tried the hardware reset but didn't change anything. Bad luck this time.....

That is really something wrong.
It suppose no strip at telco area.
Beside search bar, the rest bottom part is suppose black also not grey.
I believe your screen is defective.
I've factory-rested and it's the same.
Re-installing exactly the same J1 firmware (in Singapore it's the latest) via Odin also yeilds same result.
Another friend of mine is facing the same issue.
However, the ambience at the Samsung stores are so bright, and it's hard for the customer service officers to see
Well I'll see what Samsung After service Germany will say... the point is that the screen looks ok if you test the blue, green, red and black screen test under *#0*#. But during normal use I'm faced with the problems as shown above
I'll keep you updated.

IIrc hardware defects are still covered under the warranty even with bootloader unlock. But I also have one of these dots. Towards the bottom, it's blue. Had it since opening the phone. Was going to send it in for reapir, but I couldn't figure out how to return the phone to stock.
